Sparks

With Thanksgiving this week, I wanted a Spark representing gratitude. I hope you think I made a good selection.

William Arthur Ward was an American motivational writer, who lived from 1921 to 1994. He published more than 100 articles, poems and meditations in magazines like Reader’s Digest. He also had a column in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram entitled, “Pertinent Proverbs”.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is our favorite day of the week, as it’s when Periwinkle and Stinky, share an adventure. Tomorrow they will taking you on another Thanksgiving-themed adventure. These two fun-loving tabbies will be taking off from here, and they hope you’ll join them for some fun!

MEYAWN SELFIE & SNOOZY EASY

Sunday Selfies: Week #378

Mom asked me to take a selfie, but I had planned on a nap. She continued to pester me, and so I gave her what she wanted…my selfie with a huge meyawn!

meyawn selfie

The moment I finished I settled in for a nice nap and easy in the nearest sunpuddle.  I hope you will follow my example and do the same after you share your selfie with us and all your friends.

Just a few reminders. All anipals are welcome regardless of species. You do not need to post today to join us. The hop is open through Thursday.

I hope to have the pleasure of your company.

Purrs & paw-pats, Misty May

KIZMET’S BEJEWELED SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #371

Bejeweled SelfieI sure hope y’all aren’t tired of seeing me. I am the only member of the Kitties Blue who enjoys posing. And, if I do say so myself, I am one adorable cat! And I love how Mom fancied me up with this bejeweled frame.

We do have another photo to share with you today, however.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

This is four of us enjoying some time on the catio. I am on the perch on the left, Cooper Murphy on the railing, Astrid is on the table, and Sawyer on the deck.

Hopping Time

I want everyone to get to their easy Sunday as quickly as possible, so I am not going to mess around with a lot of jibber jabber. You can link up below, and you all know the drill. You don’t have to post today, and the hop remains open through Thursday. So please join me. You don’t want me to be lonely…right? Oops, Mom just reminded me to say, “thank you,” for hopping, but if you aren’t hopping and just visiting, “thank you as well!” All of us are super appreciative.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kizmet

p.s. I asked Mom to make you another puzzle. Hope you enjoy it.

EXAUSTED SQUIRREL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #165

Yippee…we have a guest host this week. That meant all of us got to just hang out all day yesterday with no camera or phone shoved at us. Supposedly this fellow not only volunteered for a selfie but also a Tocktober photo. Mom says she’ll share that on October 20.

We are astounded that our humans had to go all the way to California for this photo. We have plenty of these guys hanging out in our yard. Go figure!

Squirrel takes it easy after gathering and burying acorns.

What a ham! Mom says this guy was burying acorns right in front of her and Dad without the least concern for their presence. He seems to have needed a big “easy” after running up and down this large oak tree numerous times to detach the acorns from the tree.

That’s our host for today. Who’s going to represent your blog today? We are anxious to see.

Blog Hop

Here are a few guidelines for anyone new to the hop.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head

Petretary has promised she will spend a major portion of tomorrow and Monday taking us visiting. We miss you all so much.

SUNDAY SELFIE TWO FURS

Sunday Selfies: Week #59

I headed for Giulietta’s and my bed last night after dinner just like I do most nights. I found it occupied and not by my sisfur. It was that huge man-cat, Mauricio, again. This is getting to be a bit of a habit with him. And not one I like. You may recall this post, Is That Stinky Goodness on Your Face?.

But I digress…I had to scrunch myself up in order to fit on the bed with him. When Mom came in the room she thought we looked so cute that she demanded we take a selfie for today’s post. She likes to call these shots “groupies.” We have given them a new name: Two Furs! What do y’all think?

Mom let Mau take the photos.

We hadn’t quite gotten coordinated on where to look in this first photo.

 two furs

We did a little better in our second photo. After that, I left the bed to Mauricio and went in search of Giulietta. We always sleep together.

Cat4-001 We had a few less entries in last week’s hop with 50 purrticipants (including ourselves). We did have a few unusual anipals joining us, including a faux rhinoceros from Katnip Lounge. Also joining in were a llama from Kitty Cat Chronicles and a Tawny Nosed Frogmouth bird from PepiSmartDog. That was the coolest looking bird. If you didn’t see it last week, drop over to PepiSmartDog’s blog to check it out.

By now, y’all know the drill. Click on the link below to enter our blog hop. And grab the code if you want to have the hop post on your blog. If you do decide to do the latter, please display our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head. And please invite your friends to join. We love making new friends.

Can’t wait to see what y’all have for us this week.

Purrs and paw-pats, Fiona

MISTY MAY IS BACK AGAIN FOR MORE SELFIES

Sunday Selfies Week #54

again

Can you believe it…I am back again already with more selfies. After my previous session I decided it was actually sort of fun. I may not quite have the knack of it yet, but I think these are kind of cute. I do wish my green eyes didn’t look so muddy.

Cat4-001

My fursibs and I have noticed when visiting some of our furiends lately that you are posting Sunday Selfies, but you are not purrticipating in the blog hop. We don’t know if you are having trouble linking or just not taking the time to do so. If you are having trouble linking, let us know in the comments. If possible, Mom will enter your link for you. If you have just been neglecting to add your link, purrlease rejoin us. Though we don’t always manage, we do try to visit all the purrticipants each week.

If you don’t post on Sundays or don’t have a blog, you can still join us by linking to your Facebook page. This is how Stunning Keisha and Cat Scout Charles join us each Sunday.

It is not necessary to enter your link on Sunday to purrticipate. The blog hop remains open for five days each week. You can join anytime during those five days.

The code is below which you can use to have the hop post on your blog. If you decide to do this, we’d be so happy if you could link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge.

Whatever your plans are for today, don’t forget to take it Easy after posting your selfie.

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

I SWEAR: I AM NOT SPOILED

spoiled

You are accustomed to seeing me curled up on my dad’s chest. But when he is away, as he is now, I give Mom the honor of snuggling with me before lights out. Of course, when it is time for her to sleep, I take over her pillow and become the cat on her head. I had to ask Mom to take this selfie for me, and I actually shared it with her as you can see below.

spoiled

If you want to send kisses for my cute tuxie toes or nose, I will happily accept them.

Cat4-001I hope you will join me today with your own selfies. If you’d like to display all the selfies on your blog, the code is available below. If you do so, please link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge so others will know Kitties Blue are their hosts. And if you get the opportunity, try to visit some of the other selfie participant’s blogs. It’s a great way to make new friends.

We hope all our U.S. friends enjoyed the 4th of July and are now recuperating with an Easy Sunday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

FLAG DAY SPECIAL SELFIE

Flag Day

Cat Scout Mauricio is doing a special Sunday Selfie for us today in honor of Flag Day. Cat Scouts will be celebrating this impawtant day with members giving reports about their state flags.

But today is the official day to celebrate our American Flag. The idea of an annual day to celebrate the Flag is thought to have originated in 1885. B.J. Cigrand, a schoolteacher in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School District 6, proposed the pupils observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of our Stars and Stripes) as Flag Birthday.

The official establishment of Flag Day (the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777), however, did not happen unril May 30, 1916, with a Proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson. Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after the proclamation, but it was not until August 3, 1949, that President Harry Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14 of each year as National Flag Day.

Here’s the song Scout Mau was singing when he snapped his selfie.

Our Flag

by Linda Brown

(Tune: “Three Blind Mice”)

Stand up tall.
Head up high.

Waving your flag.
Letting it fly.

Our star-spangled banner
Is such a sight,

With thirteen stripes that
Are red and white,

And fifty stars that
Are always bright.

We love our flag!

Cat4-001Wherever you are today and whatever you are doing, we hope you will take just a moment to snap a selfie and share it with us. And please try to visit the blogs of at least some of the other entrants. We have made lots of new friends by way of our blog hop, and you can do the same.

To display the hop on your blog, grab the code below. But please, if you decide to do this, display our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head.

Have a great easy Sunday.

With many thanks, purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Cat Scout Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

SUNDAY SELFIE WITH THANKS TO SAMPY

I asked Mom to please let me do the Sunday Selfie post today. It sounded like a really good idea as I wanted to show you my newest gift from my boyfriend, Sampy (Kitty Cat Chronicles). This unfortunately required removing my collar and putting it back on again. I felt so free being nekkid, I did not want to put my collar back on again. I zoomed around the house just out of Mom’s reach. I wouldn’t even come for treats or freshly ground nip! I also screamed at her some! Can you say, STUBBORN!

I finally succumbed to her advances and allowed her to redress me. The selfies I took after that show my extreme displease. I sure hope Sampy likes them anyway.

Sampy

How do you like my new lavender flower with the extra special center bead? It matches my collar purrfectly. Sampy’s mom, Emily, made it for me. All my sisfurs and I got flowers for Christmas as well. But I am the only one of us with two, and both of mine are special…just like me.

If you would like to see me wearing my other flower you can click here.

Mom Emily makes flowers and bow-ties and lots of other cool stuff. You can check out her Etsy shop, Ems Crochet Creations, by clicking here.

I sure hope none of you mind that I preempted this week’s guest host selfie. Mom says the guest hosts will be back next week.

Okay, as you know, this is a blog hop, and it’s time to take and submit your selfies. All anipals are welcome and encouraged to join us. If you have been hesitant about joining in on the fun, make this Sunday the one when you snap and submit your very first Sunday Selfie. It is quick and easy, and you have the remainder of the day to get your Easy on.

If you’d like to have the blog hop appear on your Sunday Selfies post, the code is below. Mom just asks that you display our badge and/or link back to us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with love and kisses to Sampy)

CHICKEN CHARLIE’S SELFIES

We were curious if last week’s guest host, Lizzie Lizard, tasted like chicken. This week, we are sure our guest does. Back off Ashton and Waffles! This guy isn’t your dinner.

Chickens wander everywhere on Tortola, including the beach. Who knew that kitten season is also baby chick season? All over the island, hens could be seen with flocks of minuscule chicks following along behind them.

Several chickens befriended us at the beach and would gather around each day. Charlie, who is our featured host today, had the most glorious tail feathers when we met him. One morning he greeted us sans feathers but one. He had a couple rival roosters on the beach, and we don’t know if it happened in a squabble or if a dog might have gotten him.

Here are Charlie’s selfies.

chicken selfies

Bet you are wondering how our humans convinced Charlie to take those selfies. Let’s just say, Mom had him eating out of her hand. And we have the photographic proof.

chicken feeding

The humans were not surprised that the chickens liked corn nuts. That they liked Cheerios was a big shock. Charlie liked them so much and ate them so quickly, Mom noticed him belching.

Cat4-001We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s selfies this week. We did get around to visit all of our entrants last Sunday, and we promise to do so again this week. Please understand that it may take us a few days. We are so appreciative of those who participate in and promote our blog hop. You are the best friends Kitties Blue could ever hope to have!

We encourage you to get the link below and post the hop on your blog. We only ask that you include a link to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge.

Have a terrific Easy Sunday and a happy Memorial Day.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

P.S. with regard to our Comment-a-thons:
