Thoroughly Poetic & Thankful Thursday
A Mother’s Appeal to Angels
To the Angels who walk among us,
Please keep our newest angels near,
Show them how to use their wings,
Their paths as yet may not be clear.
We miss them deeply in our hearts
And pray each day they feel no fear,
As they get accustomed to new lives
Away from those who hold them dear.
Grief remains for our precious ones,
And we continue to shed our tears.
So please keep our loved ones safe
Until once again their purrs we hear.

This is our only holiday decoration. It is a silver-toned metal, illuminated star. Mom bought it to memorialize Fiona, and it will be forever known as Fiona’s Star.
We asked Mom if we could share this second photo. This is where our sisfur’s earthly remains reside. All our other angel fursibs are buried in our yard, and Mom had selected a place for Fiona. But our dad suggested that if she were cremated, Mom could keep Fiona with her forever, including when she goes to her final resting place. Of course, the heart-shaped container was the only choice for Fiona.
We are joining Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. As you may have guessed, today’s prompt letter is “A.” We are joining Brian’s blog hop as well.
We are thankful for so many friends during what is usually a joyous time of year but for us is quite sad. Thank you for your continued understanding support as we try to find our new normal.
Mom and Dad say they also are thankful for all of us and the love and comfort we give them.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Your poem and Fiona’s star are just purrfect. That was the exact same reason I chose to cremate Truffles (the first time I’ve ever done that). I had to have her with me always. I just couldn’t put my precious baby out in the yard.
A beautiful star, and an angelic poem, all reminders of the sweet kitty ~ now angel, that Fiona was…and will forever be.
Sending lots of big hugs and purrs, too.

Your poem moved me to tears, Mom Janet. And what a beautiful way to have Fiona with you always. A heart … perfect.
The poem is beautiful and so is the star and urn for Fiona. We think it’s a lovely idea to always keep Fiona with your mom. All the ones before us are in urns so that they can always be with our mommy and daddy too.
We love your poem. And Fiona’s new heart home, perfect.
That is a beautiful star and urn for Fiona. The poem is lovely.
That is a beautiful spot for Fiona, and her shining silver star is lovely too. WE fully understand how your heart is beyond this Holiday, just be gentle with yourself. Loved your touching poem.
Your poem gave us leaky eyes. You have beautiful ways to remember and honor Fiona. Purrs

I love that star idea! Beautiful poem.
Beautiful poem and remembrance.
What a beautiful poem. Fiona would love her urn.
What a beautiful way to memorialize your sweet Fiona. Continued purrs and hugs to all of you.
I love this poem, even though it made me cry. I think that is a beautiful star to memorialize sweet Fiona and I also love the heart urn and the idea of her being buried with you someday. XO
I love everything about this post, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful, heartfelt words. I truly am so sorry for the loss of Fiona. I do not know what to make of Chloe Jo’s newest issues. I have never had a cat with this problem, and it can be a sign or beginning of other things. I worry about her constantly. They become such a part of us, and they take part of us when they go. Peace.
Such a beautiful Angel poem……..and Fiona’s Star and Heart Box are reminders of what a special girl she was in every way – so brave and sweet until the end. Fiona’s Star and Sammy’s Star will shine always just as they will light up the love in our hearts for them forever.
Love and hugs, Pam
p.s. thanks for joining in for poetry today!
You are honoring your sweet Fiona in such beautiful ways. Her star and urn are so perfect for her, as you already know. We have no doubt that sweet Fiona has mastered those angel wings of hers, and that she is watching over you. Purrs and prayers to you all, always.
What a beautiful way to remember Fiona. Purrs to you.
What a lovely way to remember Fiona.
What a pretty star for Fiona.
Fiona’s star and her urn are beautiful. She is at peace, but of course your hearts are just starting to mend. We never forget them, we just learn to live without them. As you said, it will take time to find your new normal. I do hope you find joy with your family, friends, and furries this holiday season.
