Sorry for the late posting. It’s Sawyer’s fault, but I’m not blaming him…just his stupid seizure disorder, which struck twice yesterday.
Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
I am not particularly happy with today’s poem. It went through several rewrites and two different endings until I finally gave up. The poet/instructor of a poetry class I took back in the 80s told us that very few poems are ever truly finished but merely abandoned. Alas…that is what happened to this one.
Here’s the inspiration photo from one of my very favorite episodes of the “I Love Lucy” television show.
When Too Much of a Good Thing Could Be Bad
Candy is definitely dandy,
And a chef’s hat is handy
To conceal what you cannot eat
For a later yummy treat.
Just beware of sweating,
Or that candy will be melting
Giving away your hiding place
And causing you some disgrace.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is hosted each week by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. They provide the inspiration photo, and participants provide a poem. Pop on over to their blog to find next week’s inspiration photo and Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and it is always terrific.
Thankful Thursday
Dad Tom and I are thankful to remain virus free and on a waiting list for the COVID vaccine.
We continue to count our blessings for Kizmet. She’s a character, a clown, a lover and a bright spot amid otherwise gloomy days.
I am thankful for the dusting of snow last night that gave us this view from our bedroom window.
We are supposed to get some additional snow showers later this morning, and the temperature isn’t supposed to get above freezing. Unfortunately the wind is supposed to pick up, which will blow the snow from the branches.
This is my kind of snow…just a light dusting that turns everything into a winter wonderland, but not enough to be a problem.
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. If you would like to participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to visit his blog and link up.
We’ll see you tomorrow for Fill-Ins and Feline and Friendship Fridays.
Poor Sawyer. I’m glad he has loving and patient parents to help take care of him.
We are so sorry for poor Sawyer. We are sending purrs and purrayers to keep those horrid seizures away.
So pretty! My human keeps hoping it will snow in L.A. at least once in her lifetime. Her BF’s house just north of Angeles National Forest got a dusting, and she is envious.
That’s such a “sweet” poem and Kizmet sure is having a blast. Those are good thankfuls too, no snow is our kind of snow although I must admit it is very pretty. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
We send purrayers that Sawyer is feeling better and stays seizure-free for awhile now.
Your poem is terrific! We think it is great! We love your light dusting! So much more picturesque than our heavy blast of winter! We are continuing to purray for Sawyer. Have a marvellously Happy Day!
I purrsonally loved yoor poem. My sisfur Candy thought it was about her and was vewy confoozed about hats since she doesn’t own one. Anyway, enjoy yoor booteeful snow. At my house we are stuck wif sunshine and ocean bweezes. So sad. Love from Dori
I wish our snow could blow away!
Half of the people in the ‘hood don’t bother to shovel, and therefore walking my usual rounds can be slippery!
Purring for Sawyer, and Kizmet is a sweetie.
I never saw this episode of I Love Lucy, but I’ve seen enough of it to wonder what they actually made those candies out of!
We’re always unhappy when we hear Sawyer has had another seizure. We sure wish they would go away.
Your poem was fun!!
The Florida Furkids with paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle
Hope you are better Sawyer! Sending you healing hugs!
That is my kind of snow too. I am glad Kizmet is well adjusted and fun. Great poem.XO
We are so sorry for poor Sawyer. We are sending purrs and purrayers to keep those horrid seizures away.
I love that poem!! I do think that was one of the funniest episodes of her show.
I loved the ones where she was in Italy as well, where she had to trample the grapes to make wine!! LOL, LOL!
Sending tons of POTP for Sawyer. Seizures be gone you evil things. There, that should help.
Your snow is pretty, and I agree, just enough to pretty things up, but not make the roads and sidewalks bad.
Hugs and love to all!
((( ♥ )))
Makes us sad when sweet Sawyer has a seizure……we know it makes you sad too. Hope he will be fine for rest of the day. What a pretty dusting of snow you have – we didn’t get any at all. We love your poem for Lucy and Ethel. It was such a fun memory just seeing the still shot from that hilarious episode but everyone managed to put some great poetry to work with it too!!!!!!
Hugs, Teddy and Mom
We are sending lots of purrs and prayers for Sawyer and you all as that sure is stressful. Your poem reminded Dad of this episode and he explained it to us as none of the other poems did. Now we all “get it” and it was really funny. Your poem was right on the money.
Oh no on Sawyer’s seizures. Healing hugs to him.
Love your thankful things. Love your dusting of snow. Beautiful.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Big hug to mom and lots of scritches to the kitties and especially Sawyer. ♥
