A ROMANTIC SPARK FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Sparks

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, I thought a romantic Spark would be nice. And there is no more romantic cat among the Kitties Blue than the one-and-only, scene-stealer, Mau. So for the third day in a row, here he is with a Spark that is very special to Dad Tom and me.

Valentine's Day

Mau is snoozing on a blanket from his beautiful wife, Allie, while dreaming of her. He spends many hours each day doing this.

Now, a bit more about this Spark. The two lines are lyrics from a popular song, entitled, “Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms.” The song was written in 1808 by Irish poet, Thomas Moore.

These lines are important to the kitties’ dad and me as we used Moore’s song in 1973 as part of our wedding vows. I have included the entire song below.

The first line of the Spark has become so important and meaningful to us through the years, that it is engraved on our headstone…yes, we already have one in place in the nearby cemetery. Can’t get much more romantic than that.

Here is the entire song, as originally published, for those unfamiliar with it.

Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms

I.
BELIEVE me, if all those endearing young charms,
Which I gaze on so fondly to-day,
Were to change by to-morrow, and flee from my arms
Like fairy-gifts, fading away!
Thou wouldst still be ador’d as this moment thou art,
Let thy loveliness fade as it will;
And, around the dear ruin, each wish of my heart
Would entwine itself verdantly still!
II.
It is not while beauty and youth are thine own,
And thy cheeks unprofan’d by a tear,
That the fervour and faith of a love can be known,
To which time will but make thee more dear!
No! the heart that has truly lov’d, never forgets,
But as truly loves on to the close;
As the sun-flower turns on her god, when he sets,
The same look which she turn’d when he rose!

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Kitties Blue and I ask for your continued prayers for Annie and her family as they try to reconcile this mess and get their lives back to normal.

Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Awww Mondays

Mau also is joining the blog hop over at Comedy Plus. Click on their badge to go there.
