Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
I am joining Angel Sammy and Teddy’s poetry challenge over at Two Spoiled Cats, as I do almost every Thursday. If you’d like to join Poetic Thursday, click on the badge at left. You’ll find the inspiration photo for next week. While visiting Two Spoiled Cats, make certain you read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge, and it is always thoughtful and well-crafted. Other poets leave links to their works in the comments, and you might want to check those out as well.
Here’s this week’s inspiration photo, followed by my poem.
A Life Unlived
A woman of fashion and privilege—
Master horsewoman but master of little else;
Served by others, her every need always met.
She wants for nothing and cares for no one
But the faithful canines surrounding her.
Raised by nannies and servants, her parents
As self-absorbed as she has now become.
Admiring her beauty, she doesn’t realize
Her future holds only loneliness and regret,
Unless a stranger shatters her current reality
Shows her a world beyond her present limits and
Offers her an opportunity to care about others.

Thankful Thursday
We also are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian.
This week we are thankful for another heartfelt memorial for Mau held by the Golden Paws Group at Cat Scouts. Planned by the Wolverines’ Patrol Leader, Gracie, the older Scouts shared memories and photos of our precious boy. It continues to warm our hearts how kind all the Scouts have been.
We also are thankful for the kind messages and cards sent by friends and followers. I have said it numerous times in the past, but must tell you all again how much Dad Tom, the Kitties Blue and I appreciate those in the pet blogging community. Your compassion, love and support are unsurpassed.
Finally, we are thankful for another Tuesday Teaser First Commenter badge from Two Spoiled Cats. We shared it with Sharon (Friends Furever), Pete (Tomcat Commentary by Tim) and Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs).
Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click Brian’s badge to go to his blog and enter the link to your post.
What a good poem! The Human was thinking about giving it a try but she had trouble finding a way to connect that lady to those nice doggos. We think you did it purrfect, Miss Janet. Mau was a wonderful kitty and it is no surprise that so many want to show their love and respect for him, and you too. We lubs you all!
Your poem is an interesting take on that picture.
What a nice tribute to Mau. He was loved by so many so it doesn’t surprise us about the outpouring of love for him.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem with us. Congratulations on the new badge. We hope you are all doing well during this time.
What a deep poem!! So true though…I think its more fun in the long run to not be ‘of privilege’…
Tuesday Teaser sure was a fun one this week!!I do not often get there early enough, but this time I scored along with all of the other fast ones:)

The Florida Furkids with smoochies and love to Angel Mau from Allie and paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle
What a wonderful thankful today. The outpouring of love means so much. I so remember.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties. Big healing hug to you. ♥
Quite the poem this week. There is so much we can see and imagine in this one – my heart took me to romance but there are so many “realities” that could be and you zeroed in on one of them I hadn’t thought of. Privilege doesn’t guarantee happiness for sure! I think next week’s photo from Angel Sammy will be a FUN one – I have very vague memories of the milkman but remember CLEARLY the “bread man” when we lived in Germany – I think because at 4 years old I was already a BIG fan of those great big puffy pretzels with salt!
Hugs, Pam
Stunning photo and wonderful poem!
