Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
The inspiration photo for today’s poem reminded me of high school; though, the main character in the photo is a young boy. I’ll tell you more about that after revealing the photo and my poem.
Eek!
If I’d known this was so scary,
I definitely would have been more wary.
I might have stayed safe on the ground
While my family flew down and around,
But now I am stuck here on this ride
Hanging on for dear life to the car side.
As we continue to race crazily down hill,
I seriously think I am going to be ill.
I am positive I’ve already wet my pants.
I don’t know why I took the chance
To go sailing on this harrowing adventure.
I know I’m not feeling any pleasure.
Oh Lord please let me survive this flight,
And I’ll be an extra good person all my life.

Okay, now for the high school story. When I as a senior, we had something called, Senior Sneak Day. Chaperoned by some of our teachers, the entire senior class spent a regular school day at the boardwalk and beach in Santa Cruz, CA. Unfortunately it rained all day. That did not stop me from riding the huge, old, wooden roller coaster 17 times. I was soaked to the skin after only a couple of rides, but just kept going. I sat in the front car with my arms up every time. My inner arms were covered with red welts by the end of my craziness. Would I do that again today, 52 years later? NO! (Oops…did I shout that? Sorry!)
Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is hosted each week by our dear friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy. If you have never written a poem, give it a try. It’s fun and gives you the opportunity to use your imagination.
You can find the inspiration photo for the following week each Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. Click on the badge to go there now. You’ll find a poetic masterpiece by Angel Sammy, next week’s photo and links to the poems of other bloggers in the Comments.
Thankful Thursday
Kitties Blue and I also like to participate in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian.
As we all know, some weeks are better than others, but it is always possible to find something for which to be grateful. Though I have become the proverbial broken record about the lack of progress on the addition to our house, this week has been a bit better. All the siding is up on the exterior and now just needs a coat or two of paint. And tile master extraordinare, Bill, hs completed three-quarters of our massive bathroom project.
The photos below show two of the shower walls prior to being grouted.
Of course, all of us are thankful to have so many blogger friends and supporters.
And though Sawyer had a seizure last night, both Dad Tom and I are happy that his meds are helping to make the seizures less violent. Our huge thankful is that we have not needed to make a trip to the emergency vet since March.

The shower looks lovely. Our paws are always crossed for Sawyer.
That was a great poem and we are glad Sawyer is getting along with those meds. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
What a great poem! The mom says there’s a lot of things she did as a kid or teenager that she would never do today. Oh to be young and fearless again! We’re glad to hear Sawyer is doing better. We continue to purr for him.
We’re glad the meds are helping Sawyer, we’re purring for him. Purrs
The photo just made my human’s day.
It’s an actual photo of her in Universal Studios, LOL>
sawyer…knock wood three timez seven for ya buddy ~~~~~ ☺☺☺♥♥♥
yur momz poem two dayz total lee awesum !!!
Purrs and prayers for Sawyer, glad the meds are helping. Gorgeous shower, wow! No more roller coasters in the rain, are you sure?
Poor Sawyer. I am glad the seizure wasn’t violent. Have you started on the cbd oil yet?
Beautiful shower- I feel like I am watching Christina of Flip or Flop design it.
Great poem! XO
I’ve been on that roller coaster too. Not that many times, but I’ve been on it. Remember the fill-ins a week or two ago? That’s the roller coaster I climbed all over after the park closed.
Sorry about Sawyer having a seizure, but glad the medicine is working.
Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Big hug. ♥
Beautiful tile in the shower! Glad Sawyer’s seizures are better than they had been.
Cool shower, especially the stripes of mother-of-pearl-looking tiles! Sorry to hear Sawyer had another episode, poor kitty. I don’t like roller coasters; don’t even like ferris wheels! Feet on the ground, that’s me!
LOL we can’t believe you rode the roller coaster that many times!
Your addition is going to be so beautiful when it’s done.
Noelle wants to know if Sawyer wants her to come over and hang out with him. We were just thinking last night about the time between seizures. We’re sorry he had another but glad it wasn’t a bad one.
The Florida Furkids with smoochies and love to Mau from Allie and paw pats and headbonks to Sawyer from Noelle
In my younger days I loved roller coasters, but now, no way!
I am glad Sawyer’s meds are working well and he hasn’t had a major seizure since March.
Love the poem…….so many of us have similar memories – I actually enjoyed rollercoasters as a young teen but grew out of that as rollercoasters began competing for highest/fastest/craziest. I prefer GROUND! Thanks for writing such a super poem this week. Also happy you are finally seeing progress on the remodel – the tile looks AMAZING. I know the rest of the house will too. Sorry to hear Sawyer had a seizure but as you say – there are little victories even in that with the fact it was not a “bad” one and you haven’t had to take him to the ER Vet.
Hugs, Pam
I for sure would have stayed on the ground too…I have never been on a roller coaster or any other crazy ride, MOL! I went on a mild (by comparison), one when I was a youngster and I *was* sick from it so never had the idea to try again…but our boys…well, they are all grown up now; they love rides like that…even theogh the younger one gets nose bleeds each and every time.
You were brave and tolerant to do that ride so many times in the rain,MOL!
Glad that your project is getting there as it were,
and happier yet that Sawyer is doing so much better…purring and pawyering that he won’t have to go to the ER Vet again…like never.
