Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

The weeks keep zipping right by us, but unfortunately little has changed in the past several months. The pandemic is still raging with some locales seeing huge escalations in cases. Virginia isn’t currently one of the states which has this problem. However, that does not mean we can be less cautious. I only mention this because it is what is uppermost in my mind almost constantly. Consequently, once again, it found its way into my poem. I just cannot seem to help myself. Sorry!

Here’s the photo followed by my poem.

A Place to Dream

Magical painting in which to escape
From day-to-day, hum-drum of normal life.
Imagining another time and place…
Quiet, gentle with no virus or masks,
No social distancing, fear or protests.
Any painting, photo or drawing
Holds the key for me to a better
Place than where we are now…
A place to dream and be free.

Thankful Thursday

Thanks this week include one for Sawyer. Our little trooper is 19 days seizure free as of yesterday. Paws crossed that streak will continue. Twenty days is his max, and those two intervals happened a few months back.

Our second thanks is that Mau’s trip to the vet—yes that is where he was heading in yesterday’s photo—did not reveal any dire illness. He has not been himself for a few days and not eating much. He has lost more than a pound of weight since round-up in the beginning of April.

Mau is still feeling puny, but his heart and lungs are good and thyroid function okay. His kidney function values show, like many senior cats, that he does have some kidney disease.

He received a cerenia injection to stimulate his appetite, and he is eating, including treats and shredded cheddar cheese from my dinner. Starting him on k/d food was suggested, but if he is like every other cat we have had or known, we are fairly certain he’ll turn his nose up at that.

We will definitely keep you posted as to his health

Dad Tom and I remain healthy for which we are truly grateful. Tom will get results today of an antibody test he had when giving blood a couple of weeks ago. We expect it to be negative for COVID-19.

I am thankful that I woke up early enough two days ago and actually remembered it was Tuesday, so I could be one of three first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I shared the honors with Mom Sharon (Friends Furever) and Dad Pete (Tomcat Commentary by Tim). We all got this cool badge.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. If you’d like to participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on the badge below to go to Brian’s Home blog and enter the link to your post.

That is good news for Sawyer and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it continues. I am also very glad that nothing abnormal was found for Mau’s vet visit.

Royal Canin makes a couple of renal diet foods that have gravy and are relatively palatable. You can get them from Chewy with a prescription. Oscar would eat a little bit and then the others would scarf up the leftovers. Purrayers for Mau and Sawyer and all the rest of Kitties Blue !

Raven July 9, 2020 at 12:12 pm

Yay for Sawyer. Let’s hope he breaks his seizure-free-days record. Raven would love being able to eat lots of snacks but her GI system won’t allow it. Hopefully Mau continues to do ok.

Mau, hope you are back to 100% quickly!
Sawyer, you know we are always pulling for you.

Love the poem.

Sending big healing hugs to Mau and Sawyer. I’m glad for both of them. You’re right about cat food. They are picky and if they don’t like it they won’t eat it.

Fingers crossed for good results for dad Tom.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to the mom. ♥

I hope your fur family is doing better. Sawyer…that is the best news ever!!! Mau, that Cerenia really helps. Angel Admiral was a new cat when she got those shots.

Teddy July 9, 2020 at 5:49 am

Well I’m happy my pal Mau has good blood work but I worry because he’s my friend so I hope he begins eating and behaving like “normal” soon. Sending him POTP (and so is Angel Sammy!). Also thrilled to hear about Sawyer going for a record….I am always thinking about him and hoping he stays seizure-free. As for the poem – my Mom says she feels like you do – we long for the days when we can just put all of this behind us and live a beautiful and virus-free life again. Mother Nature seems to be throwing us a lot of challenges – we must stay strong and safe. WE MUST.

Love and Hugs, Teddy (and Mom)

Aww, Mau…hope you’ll be feeling chipper soon! POTP to you.
We are pawyering for Sawyer too, that he will ‘break his record’! Yes please!

That poem is actually very deep in the depth of thoughts about dreaming…you nailed it!

Hope you will continue to remain healthy. I tested negative last week of June, every employee at my work got tested, it was mandatory…

Concats on being one of the firsties!
