Sparks: Week #21
Being a blog dedicated to kitties, it seemed appropriate to finally do a Spark post featuring a quote about cats. The photo above features Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Misty May, Mauricio and Giulietta during one of Chris’s biweekly nip fests.
I was unfamiliar with the author of this quote, so I suspect most of you will be as well. The following information is from Wikipedia:
“Henry Charles Bukowski (born Heinrich Karl Bukowski; August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was a German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over 60 books. The FBI kept a file on him as a result of his column, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, in the LA underground newspaper Open City.”
I am joining Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, she wrote this, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

Thank you for this. I have an elderly friend who is German, and a devout cat lover. Great photo for the sentiment. Thank you. I needed some positivity this week. HUGS.

As I always say, in one way or another, cats fix everything!
This quote is pure purrfection! And we just love seeing group photos like this. You are all too cute for words.
We like that quote and the photo! We sure help our mommy feel better especially during stressful times!
I’m impressed that you got five cats in one photo. I had six cats at one time and never got more than four together in one shot.
That is one terrific and true Spark!
Yep, us cats aren’t just furry faces. We serve a purpose…to make our humans happy.
Cat people are subversive…wouldn’t surprise me if the gov’ment peeps were keeping a file on a lot of us!
That’s a lot of kitties! I’ve not heard that quote either. Thanks for the back story about the author. Seems sort of silly for the FBI to have a file on him! 🙂
I had not heard of this, but I love it. Very nice photo too 🙂 XO
What a fun time for the kitties! Love that quote! 😀
What a great quote and it’s spot on. Cats are very smart.
Have a purrfect day filled with wonderful Sparks. ♥
Cats always make me feel better! 🙂
Well, we kitties do the best we can with our people management skills and try to keep our humans on track, smiling, and focused (mostly focused on US! haha). We do love that photo of the Blue-Family-Nipfest…….and we’re sure that this will be a good week – why? Because we WANT it to be!
Love, Teddy and Mom Pam
We are good stress relief!
Charles Bukowski was actually a big deal among my human’s L.A. punk rock friends in the 1980s. In fact, many of them sought him out.
Kitties do have that calming effect, don’t they?! Maybe instead of a doggy at our workplace we need some kitties instead! ( The CEO just adopted a puppy who will eventually become the live in pet at the facility where I work.)
