PTU POOPER STRIKES AGAIN 💩

Wordlessy Wednesday

Sawyer needed to visit the vet to have his phenobarbital prescription renewed. He never makes a peep to and from or while there. Unfortunately, he likes to leave a gift in the PTU. Things were proceeding nicely until we were one block from the vet office. I won’t gross you out with the details. Suffice it to say, the poop totally missed the pee pad.

PTU pooper: Collage with a grey tabby Manx cat in vet office with vet and vet tech and alone sitting on the exam table.

Sawyer met Dr. McBane for the first time and behaved purrfectly for her and vet tech, Kendall. Other than his seizure disorder, Sawyer is in excellent health. We discussed medication changes to see if we could extend the time between seizures, which is now every week to ten days. Currently, we will not be making any changes, as we don’t want him to spend his life in a stupor.

Though I have shared a few words with you, Sawyer will be joining the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join in the fun, click on the WW badge.

Looking Back

As I was only a little wordy today, I do have a Looking Back post for you. It is from January 5, 2013. It is titled, “Fiona Gets Special Treatment,” and features her as well as two other angels, sisters Thelma and Louise. To visit, click on the title. A word of warning, I do have a mini-rant at the beginning of the post about college football bowl games.

E-Mail Notifications

If you subscribe to our blog, you should have already received notice of the Looking Back post in your e-mail inbox.

If you do subscribe but have not been getting our post notifications, can you please let me know in the comments. Dad Tom has not been getting them, and I know of at least one other person who has not as well. I changed one of the parameters on the plug-in with the hopes of solving the problem. If it didn’t, I will rollback to a previous version.

Thanks for visiting us today. We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

TUXEDO CAT APPRECIATION DAY WITH ANGELS

Awww Mondays

Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day badge

Today is Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day, and we are remembering our three angel tuxedo (tuxie) cats, Daphne, Mauricio and Misty May. We are also celebrating our semi-tuxie (more of a cow-patterned) cat, Lisbeth.

Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day angels - four cats in a fancy frame collage

Most of you should be familiar with Mau(ricio) and Misty May but maybe not Daphne. She was the third of the Kitties Blue. We discovered her and her litter mates in the engine compartment of my car.

Our three angels and Lisbeth will be joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to do the same, click on the Awww badge,

Sparks

With our three original tuxies being angels, I wanted a Spark about angels. When I found this one, I knew it was purrfect!

Tuxedo Cat Appreciation Day angels with a quote from Luciano De Crescenzo, "We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another" printed on an angel wing.

The author, Luciano De Crescenzo (1928 – 2019) was an Italian writer, film actor, director and engineer. Between 1977 and 2019, he published a total of fifty books, selling 18 million copies worldwide. His works have been translated into 19 languages and published in 25 countries.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. Periwinkle is in charge of planning what they’ll be doing. I am certain she has something fun in mind, and the tabbies will be looking forward to seeing you over at Friends Furever. Please don’t let them down.

Thanks for joining us today.

ASTRID THROUGH A HAZE

Sunday Selfies; Week #493

Tortoise shell cat in a hazy photo surrounded by coloful flowers.

Astrid apologizes for the blurriness of her selfie. Sometimes it is tough for cat photographers to get it just right! Heck, most of the time it is almost impossible for me to get it right.  So I gave her a fancy, colorful border to distract from the haze!

Hopping Time

Astrid would love for you to join her by posting a selfie and joining our blog hop. Hops are always more fun with oodles of participants. And all the Kitties Blue enjoy seeing you adorable facing by today. As a reminder, you don’t need to post today to participate and you have through Thursday to join us.

Thanks for stopping in to see us today.  We wish you an easy Sunday filled with love and cuddles.

Note: I apologize for the size of your selfies. I am not certain what happened, and I cannot see a way to correct it.

RALEIGH RAINBOW CAT ART

Caturday Art

rainbow cat art: Tabby cat in a cat tree circular cubby with a rainbow art effect and blue flower scroll border.

Raleigh is the subject of today’s rainbow Caturday Art and jigsaw puzzle. To create the art, I used the Couch effect from Painnt with the 60s coloring filter. To that I added a Bubble overlay from the favpng app at about 80 percent. The border is from piZap.

Raleigh will be participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join him there, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We will be right back here tomorrow to host our Sunday Selfies blog hop. And one of the Kitties Blue will even be here to meet you. Which one that might be is unknown at this time. But that kitty will definitely be looking for you. So please join us tomorrow, and thank you so much for dropping in today.

Have a furabulous Caturday, dear friends.

YOGA MASTER SAWYER & FILL-INS

Feline Friday

Yoga master Sawyer: grey tabby Manx cat in a contorted napping position.

Sawyer’s position during his nap is the most unusual I have ever encountered. He’s a true yoga master.

I have a little surprise for you today—a bonus puzzle.

Sawyer will be joining the Feline Friday blog hop at messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to participate in the hop, click on the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

I am grateful to have a helper again this week. Stinky was kind enough to complete fill-in #2. The fill-ins were not so easy this week. Both Stinky and I used teal italics for filling in.

1. I used to dislike bread pudding until I had some made with croissants.

2. Stinky: If it weren’t for Periwinkle, I would never have any fun.

3. I find higher math very intimidating.

4. Kitties Blue gives me the inspiration to write this blog.

Thanks for joining again today. We will be back with some art on Caturday.

THANKFULS & BUMMER OF A SUMMER

 Thankful Thursday

It is important to be thankful each and everyday, and sharing those Thankfuls on Thursday is a great reminder to always look for the good in every situation. Like I always say, “Believe in Silver Linings.”

This week Audrey is sharing the Kitties Blue thankful.

thankfuls bummer summer: Tabby Cat in a grey tent with a plaid base.

Dad Tom put together the new tent I gave the kitties for Christmas to replace the one Cooper Murphy won years ago at Cat Scouts.  Most of the gang have tried it out. Audrey is a huge fan. Raleigh squeezed in with her at one point and forced her out. Wish I had gotten of photo of them in it together. As kittens, I transferred them to Cooper’s tent when I cleaned out their enclosure. You can see Raleigh and Audrey as adorable little kittens in the old tent on the post, “Spark of Compassion.”

I am thankful our temperature has warmed up after being dreadfully cold day after day. That and the rain we are having is melting what is left of our snow. Yippee! Unfortunately that does mean the sun disappeared, but I always like the warmer weather!

Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all our followers, supporters and friends.

Periwinkle & Stinky are thankful I answered their questions on Tuesday; though, they didn’t love all the answers. If you missed their Adventure this week, click here.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Angel Brian. To join the hop, click on the Thankful badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday is also poetry day. Teddy and Angel Sammy from Two Spoiled Cats provided the most hysterical, inspiration photo for this week’s poetry challenge. I had loads of fun writing this one.

Man on a beach covered in bandages and sipping a tropical drink through a straw.

Bummer of a Summer

Summer vacation is supposed to be fun—
the ocean, the beach and the glorious sun!
But when snorkeling, a jellyfish stung my face,
and I crashed my jet ski when I tried to race.
My son kicked me in the groin with his swim fin,
and the sun has fried my winter-white, delicate skin.
So, now I lounge here sipping this rum punch
long before it’s even time for some lunch.
Vacation has definitely turned out to be a bummer!
I think I will have a staycation next summer.

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. Sammy always writes a terrific poem. Please stop over to Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, to check out Sammy’s poem and get the photo for next week’s challenge.

Thanks for joining us today. We plan to be right back here tomorrow. So, we’ll hope to see you again then.

CHANGE A PET’S LIFE DAY

Wordy Wednesday

Change a Pet’s Life Day

Periwinkle and Stinky had planned to cover Change a Pet’s Life Day yesterday, but after asking so many questions of me, they decided it would be too much for one post.

Periwinkle and Stinky actually came up with the following suggestions of things you can do today to Change a Pet’s Life.

Spend More Time with Your Pet

🐱 playing 🐱
cuddling
🐱 grooming
🐱 going for a walk 🐱 clicker training

Help Shelter Pets

🐱 adopt (don’t forget about the seniors awaiting adoption) 🐱 foster
 🐱 sponsor
 🐱 volunteer

Donate to Rescues/Charities

🐱 goods (food, litter, towels, toys, etc.)  🐱 money 🐱 time/services

Periwinkle and Stinky know each of you can think of even more ways to change the lives of pets. They also know that pet bloggers are some of the most thoughtful, generous and kind people on the planet and want to thank everyone for all you already do to make the lives of pets better.

We cannot leave you without a photo, so here are Cooper Murphy, Audrey, Calista Jo, Raleigh and Sawyer enjoying an afternoon snooze on a cold and snowy day.

Change a Pet’s Life Day: five cats napping on a bed.

The nappers will be joining the Wordless Wednesday blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus.

As Periwinkle, Stinky and I have bombarded you with words today, I am not sharing a “Looking Back” post.

Thanks for joining us today. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCXX

At Home Adventure

Stinky is worried that Periwinkle will find today’s adventure boring, but he doesn’t want to leave the house. It is just too cold outside. With Periwinkle being from Florida, he’s fairly certain she will be okay with staying inside, but what they’ll be doing may not appeal to her.

As Stinky worries and paces in front of the teleportation tunnel, he hears its familiar whoosh and sprints to the opening to catch Periwinkle as she tumbles out. They share whisker kisses and paw hugs before Periwinkle asks the inevitable question, “What’s on the agenda today, Stinky? Are we going to visit an exotic locale?”

Stinky hesitates before answering. “Actually, no. We are staying home again today.” Stinky sees a pout beginning to form on Periwinkle’s face but says nothing. Instead he takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her to the living room where his mom is waiting for them.

National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day

Mom Janet invites the tabbies to sit with her on the couch. That’s when Stinky explains the plan for today’s adventure. “Yesterday was National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day, so my mom is going to answer any questions we have about anything.” He glances at Periwinkle and sees she has a blank look on her face.

Periwinkle replies, “Well as I always say, as long as we are together, it doesn’t matter what we do. And I guess it could be fun asking your mom questions. Who gets to go first?”

“Ladies first, of course,” says Stinky.

“Okay, why don’t our “in the furs” versions, Sawyer and Noelle, have as much fun as we do?”

“Well, Periwinkle, for starters Sawyer and Noelle don’t get the opportunity to visit each other in person, and also because real cats tend to enjoy staying at home napping and not traveling like you and Stinky do.”

“Makes sense I guess,” replies Periwinkle. She then tells Stinky it is his turn.

“Why can’t I have all the treats I want?”

“That’s an easy one, Stinky. If I let you have all the treats you want, you would get too fat to fit in the teleportation tunnel, and you would no longer be able to visit Periwinkle or go on your Adventures. Let me demonstrate for you.”

Periwinkle Stinky National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day: Fat, grey tabby, cartoon cat in red tennis shoes standing in front of a three-way tunnel.

“YIKES, that’s awful. Even my whiskers got fat,” shouts Stinky. Periwinkle puts both paws over her mouth to sniffle a fit of giggles. When she finally get’s control of herself, it is her turn to ask a question.

“Why can’t Stinky and I have more Adventures?”

Before Stinky’s mom can answer, Stinky blurts out, “Hey I was going to ask nearly the same thing, but I want to know why we can’t have an Adventure everyday?”

“Stinky, I like that even better…an Adventure everyday,” says Periwinkle, as the tabbies give each other a high five.

“If you two went on an Adventure everyday, they would no longer be special and soon you would run out of cool things to do. Additionally, Periwinkle’s mom and I have other responsibilities as well as impediments. Remember, if you want to share your Adventures with your friends, Mom Sharon and I have to do a lot of typing and photo editing.”

“What’s an impediment?” Periwinkle asks.

“It’s an obstacle, like the one in the photo,” replies Mom Janet.

Periwinkle Stinky National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day: Tortoise shell cat napping on top of a person.

Astrid crashed on Mom Janet’s lap.

Neither Stinky nor Periwinkle are happy with Mom Janet’s answer with regard to their Adventures but do understand the logistics are just too difficult for them to Adventure more often.

“Stinky, I have another question. Is it okay for me to ask it?” Stinky gives Periwinkle a thumbs up.

“How can we get more friends to visit us?” Periwinkle asks.

“That is a good question, Periwinkle. I need to add your graphic and the date of your next Adventure to The Cat on My Head’s sidebar, like we have for Sunday Selfies. I also will see if I can make you and Stinky your own landing page for your Adventures. The two of you need to ask your readers to tell two friends and those friends need to tell two friends and on and on about how much fun it is to tag along with you. I will try to put a photo from each Adventure on Kitties.Blue Instagram account and ask our readers to visit you on The Cat on My Head and at Friends Furever depending on which of you has planned that week’s Adventure. As you two don’t bring in any money, Mom Sharon and I can’t arrange any paid advertising for you.”

“Mom, I have an idea. You and Mom Sharon can make a puzzle each week from one of the photos of our Adventure. It seems everyone loves puzzles, and that way more people will see us on Jigsaw Planet and maybe look for our blogs,” exclaims Stinky.

“Great idea, Stinky,” says Periwinkle. “Your mom needs to make a puzzle of you being too fat to fit in the teleportation tunnel.” That gets Periwinkle a stink eye from Stinky.

“Mom, I know you have told us before, but how did you decide on our names?” asks Stinky.

“Well, long before you two existed or started having Adventures, your alter egos celebrated Meow Like a Pirate Day, and Stinky and Periwinkle were part of their pirate names. I thought those were cute names, and the rest is history.”

Snack Time

Thanks, Mom for answering our questions. Can we get a snack now?”

“Of course, I think you have some of the Kitties Blue waiting for you,” Mom Janet tells the tabbies.

Periwinkle Stinky National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day: Two cartoon tabby cats, a black & white cat, an ginger tabby cat and a tortoise shell cat at a kitchen island with treat jars and bowls of kibble.

“Wow, Stinky, your mom sure was right. We have quite a crowd to share our noms today. Good thing we have lots,” exclaims Periwinkle.

After snacking and visiting with Lisbeth, Astrid and Cooper Murphy, it’s time for Periwinkle to head home. The tabbies spend several minutes whisker kissing and paw hugging. With final waves, winks and blown kisses, Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel and with a whoosh is gone.

As usual, Stinky retires to the bedroom to nap and dream of his lovely girlfriend.

The End

Stinky and Periwinkle will be participating in the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. If you would like to join them there, click on the badge.

Periwinkle and Stinky thank you for visiting today.

A HAPPY SPARK & RALEIGH’S DISAPPEARANCE

Awww Mondays/Sparks

I have combined these two things this week. The photo and the Spark only slightly match up, but I selected the photo in order to tell you about Raleigh’s escapade of Caturday.

Gngar tabby cat being silly on a cat tree with a quote from William E. Gladstone, "Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won't have to hunt for happiness."

Where to begin is the question? Spark or Raleigh’s story? I vote for Spark.

I wanted a Spark that represented having fun, which Raleigh is definitely having in this photo. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything about fun. However, having fun and being happy, I think go paw-in-paw, so that is why I selected this Spark.

The author, William Ewart Gladstone, was born in Liverpool to Scottish parents and lived from 1809 to 1898. He was a British statesman and Liberal politician. Gladstone served four non-consecutive terms as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, between 1868 and 1894. He also served as Chancellor of the Exchequer four times, for  total of more than 12 years.

Raleigh’s Disappearance

In yesterday’s post, “Airplane Ears Selfie & a Good-Bye,” I mentioned that I had spent most of Caturday searching for Raleigh.

Caturday morning, Dad Tom announced he had found the door to the guest room open and had chased Lisbeth out. He also reported that he had counted noses, and Raleigh was missing. He might or might not have been in the guest room. Unfortunately for me, Dad Tom was on his way out of town, leaving me to locate a cat that doesn’t want to come near me.

I could not leave the guest room door open even if he was hiding there. If I did, within moments eight cats would be making themselves comfortable.

Our house is 112 years old and has a myriad of hidey holes. After living here for 40 years with a total of 22 cats, I have discovered nearly all the nooks and crannies big enough for a cat. I made three complete circuits of the house, including the guest room, as well as the catio and upper deck and still had not located Raleigh. With him missing for about five hours, my frustration had reached head-exploding level when I headed back to the guest room. I keep rolls of upholstery fabric and other items in plastic storage containers under the guest room bed. I had moved these items around on each circuit and searched under the bed with flashlight in hand, but had not seen him there.

Thankfully, the fourth time was the charm. My light caught a pair of eyes under the bed. That was the easy part. Getting Raleigh to come out and exit the room was the challenge. Leaving the door open, I went around the opposite side of the bed, grabbed one of roles of fabric and gave Raleigh a shove on the butt! He shot out from under the bed, out the door and down the stairs.

So that’s how I spent my Caturday. Whoop-dee-do!

Raleigh will be heading over to the Comedy Plus to join the Awww Mondays blog hop. To do the same, click on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is that special day each week when Periwinkle and Stinky set out on a new adventure. It is Stinky’s turn to plan what they’ll be doing. He confided in me that he has a couple of special things planned. They are looking forward to sharing the fun with all of you, so please stop in tomorrow. I know they’ll be looking forward to seeing you!

Thanks for joining us today.

AIRPLANE EARS SELFIE & A GOOD-BYE

Sunday Selfies: Week #492

Ginger tabby cat with squinty eyes and airplane ears for his selfie.

As I mentioned yesterday, Cooper Murphy took a less than attractive selfie displaying squinty eyes and airplane ears. I had hoped I might convince one of the other Kitties Blue to snap a selfie for today. Unfortunately I had no opportunity to even approach any of them, as I spent most of the day searching the house for Raleigh. I won’t mention some of the not-too-flattering names I called him yesterday. And, I will save the story of how and where he was discovered for another day.

Cooper has nothing to say with regards to his selfie.  Being a cat, he could care less whether you like it or not.

Good-Bye Lola

On the 16th, the beautiful Lola, the Rescued Cat, received her angel wings and flew off to the Rainbow Bridge. She leaves her mom, Dawn, and fursib, Lexy, and all of us who knew her to mourn her loss. If you don’t know, Lola is the subject of her very own book, Lola, Diary of a Rescued Cat.

Lola was a frequent Sunday Selfie participant, and we will miss having her join us and reading about her on her blog. If you haven’t visited in order to leave your condolences, click on the photo of lovely Lola. You can also purchase a copy of her book when you visit.

Time to Hop

Though Cooper is not showing off his best self, he and all the Kitties Blue invite you to put on your best smiles, snap a selfie and join Coop and all your other friends on the hop. If you can’t get by here today, our hop always remains open through Thursday.

Thanks for joining us today. We wish everyone an easy and warm Sunday.
