THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CCVIII

Costume Reveal

Stinky is waiting by the teleportation tunnel for Periwinkle’s arrival. He is wearing the costume which received the most votes from last week’s Costume Contest on Periwinkle’s blog (Friends Furever). He’s looking forward to seeing Periwinkle in her costume. Stinky is surprised that the costumes selected by their readers are the ones his Mom liked best.

Right on time, Periwinkle comes tumbling from the tunnel into Stinky’s arms. She’s giggling as she rights herself. “That was fun. I imagined I actually was a bat and flying here using by wings,” exclaims Periwinkle. After sharing paw hugs and whisker kisses, the two tabbies step back to admire each other’s costumes. “Oh, Stinky, you make a very cute gnome.” “And you, Periwinkle, are an adorable bat.”

Delivery Truck Reveal

After complimenting each other, Stinky tells Periwinkle that he and his dad have all the goodies for Walter and the black cats in a truck that Dad Tom leased for them. Dad Tom is going to drive them to Walter’s house. Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her outside to see the truck. “I made a big sign for the side,” Stinky tells her.

“Oh, Stinky, this is meowvolous. What a wonderful idea,” Periwinkle gushes. She continues, “Do you remember when we were able to deliver all the supplies in our wagons?”

“That was super fun, but as Walter has taken in more cats, his list of needs has grown so long, we can no longer do that,” Stinky replies.

As Periwinkle and Stinky are reminiscing, Dad Tom joins them at the truck and helps them inside.

Anxious to see all the kitties again, Periwinkle and Stinky urge Dad Tom to get in so they can get going.

The truck is not as fast as the teleportation tunnel, but the trip goes quickly as the tabbies sing songs and play the license plate game. Stinky even refrains from asking his dad, “Are we there yet?” as he knows that is annoying.

Arriving at the Home of the Black Cats

Finally they pull up in front of Walter’s house.

When Walter sees the tabbies’ truck, he runs right out and directs them behind the house. He has them park in front of a shed. Dad Tom helps Periwinkle & Stinky from the truck, and they excitedly introduce him to Walter. Walter then explains that he and the older cats erected the shed over the summer, as there are so many residents, room for supplies is no longer available in the house.

As Dad Tom goes around to open the back of the truck, Periwinkle pulls Walter’s Wish List from her sleeve so she can check off the items as they are unloaded.

After all the supplies are loaded in the shed and checked off the list, Walter invites the tabbies and Dad Tom back to the house for a snack and to visit with some of the residents.

Visiting with the Black Kitties

Periwinkle Stinky Halloween: Haunted house with lots of black cats and two cartoon tabby cats in costumes.

“Stinky, now that it is dark, it is almost impossible to see our friends.”

“I know, Periwinkle, night time is good camouflage for black cats. They are safe here when they are outside. But all other kitties should be inside, especially tonight, as it is Halloween. Some people can be mean to black cats. Most rescues and shelters won’t let anyone adopt black cats near the holiday just to make certain they stay safe.”

“That’s a good idea, but I sure hope lots of them get adopted afterward,” replies Periwinkle.

“Me too,” replies Stinky.

While Periwinkle and Stinky are visiting with their friends, Walter shows Dad Tom around the house, including all the cozy rooms and beds set up for the residents. Dad Tom is quite impressed and compliments Walter for what he is doing for the homeless black cats year after year.

Time to Head Home

Finally it is time to head back to Stinky’s house. Dad Tom helps the tabbies back in the truck and before he even starts the engine, they are fast asleep. He enjoys the quiet ride home.

When arriving at Stinky’s, it is time for the trick-or-treaters to begin coming to the house, so Stinky and Periwinkle agree to spend time with all the Kitties Blue to keep them distracted from the goings on at the front door. Kizmet, the social butterfly of the group, needs lots of distraction so she won’t run to the door whenever she hears the bell.

It is finally time for Periwinkle to return home. She and Stinky spend several minutes discussing their day followed by paw hugging and whisker kissing. Then Periwinkle enters the tunnel and with a wave and blown kiss to each other, she’s gone in a whoosh.

Stinky is exhausted and heads to the bedroom for a good night’s sleep and to dream of his adorable bat cat, Periwinkle.

Sawyer’s always awwwdorable, but particularly so when he’s eaten his entire breakfast—a rare occurrence—and saved some noms on his nose for later!

Sparks

We are enjoying one of the prettiest autumns this year. The leaves have had the most vibrant colors. I decided to use a photo of our crepe myrtle tree as the background for my Spark. It had begun to lose some leaves when Dad Tom took the photo, but I think you’ll agree that the bright orange leaves are stunning.

A crepe myrtle tree with autumn leaves in bright orange and a quote about nature from Wendell Berry.

The beauty of this autumn made me think of how humans currently are not being very good stewards of our earth.  That is what prompted this Spark from environmental activist, Wendell Berry.

I thought you might be interested to know the history of the tree. Dad Tom and I planted it 25 years ago in memory of my friend, Lynn, who passed away that year (1998) from malignant melanoma. She was three months short of her 40th birthday. We now have a small crepe myrtle growing up from one of the original’s roots. Three of the Kitties Blue sisters, Daphne, Thelma and Louise, are buried beneath Lynn’s tree.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It’s time again for our two fun-loving tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, to take-off on another adventure. With it being Halloween, it might be something spooky! Stinky is busy planning it, which means you can find them right here tomorrow. I know the kitties will be looking for you, so don’t forget to pop on over tomorrow.

Thanks for joining us today.

TORBIE CAT GREEN-EYED SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #480

Today, our green-eyed, torbie beauty, Audrey, is here to share her new portrait as her selfie.

A serious looking, green-eyed torbie cat portrait in a peach and green frame adorned with peach flowers, and green and white ribbon.

Audrey looks quite solemn in her selfie, but she is a happy kitty. I guess she thought a formal portrait required a serious expression.

Of course, a selfie can be anything you want it to be…serious, comical, playful, thoughtful, astonished, whatever you please. But please do snap one and join us on our hop. Audrey will be here through Thursday waiting for you, in case you are unable to participate today.

Once you link up, you’ll have the entire day to enjoy a nice and comfy Easy.

Kitties Blue and I appreciate the fact that so many of you have been following and linking up with us for all these years. And, we thank you!

GINGER TABBY HALLOWEEN ART

Caturday Art

ginger tabby halloween art: a ginger tabby cat napping and showing off his tummy in an art piece in Halloween colors and a clip art pumpkin.

Cooper Murphy and his tummy are the subject of today’s art. The coloring made it purrfect to add a pumpkin and turn it into Halloween art.

The effect is The Garrett from Painnt. The pumpkin and plain black border are from piZap. I am quite happy with this and hope you like it as well.

And here is a puzzle for all jigsaw fans.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Time again tomorrow to do that selfie thing. We’ll be presenting portrait number five in our series of Kitties Blue 2023 portraits. I really haven’t decided which of the four remaining felines will be your host tomorrow. The gang and I hope you’ll come by to see who is representing as well as to add your selfie to the hop.

We are having a delightful autumn with a couple more days of slightly above normal temperatures, and some of the best leaf color I can ever remember seeing.

Thanks for joining us today. Until then, have a meowvolous Caturday.

TWO IN A TOWER

Feline Friday

A grey cat and a torbie cat are two cats in a cat tree/tower.

Kizmet and Audrey asked if I could jazz up their photo with some Halloween spookiness, and I can never deny these special girls anything.

They will be participating in the Feline Friday blog hop hosted by messymimi’s meanderings. If you’d like to do the same, click on the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins

The Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop is hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They publish the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left.

Once again, Kitties Blue left me to my own devices this week, and I was forced to complete all four fill-ins without their assistance. As always, I used teal italics for my fill-ins and any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. If I were to attend a Halloween party, my costume would be cat ears.

2. On Halloween, I plan to be in charge of keeping Kitties Blue away from the front door.

3. If my life were a scary movie, it would be titled, Attack of the Treat Monsters.

4. If I found an ouija board, I would probably ignore it. (I had one when I was a teenager, and it was fun to fool with, but I never took it seriously.)

Kitties BIue and I apologize for not posting yesterday. I do promise to be back tomorrow to share some Caturday Art. Kitties Blue and I appreciate those of you who are regular visitors and commenters. Thank you so much!

MOM, COME QUICK…I THINK SHE’S DEAD!

Awww Mondays

Torbie cat lying on her back on the floor looks as if she is dead but is just trying to get grey cat looking over her to play.

Audrey, of course, is not dead. She was trying to convince Kizmet to play with her. She was unsuccessful!

Our two young ladies will be participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus. If you’d like to join them, click the badge below.

Sparks

Today is the 67th birthday of Martin Luther King III, son of Martin Luther King Jr. I decided to look for a quote from him that I thought would make a good Spark. With the wars between Israel and Hamas and Ukraine and Russia, I found this to be appropriate.

It’s time again for our two adorable tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, to take off on another adventure. Periwinkle is in charge of planning this week, which means that to check out their adventure, you’ll need to go to Friends Furever tomorrow. They have tons more fun when friends join them, so I hope you will do so. They’ll be looking for you.

GINGER CAT PORTRAIT SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #479

The past three weeks, our three eldest girls had the honor of sharing their new portraits. So, I thought it was time for one of the boys to have that opportunity, and decided to spotlight the eldest of them.

Portrait of a ginger tabby cat presented as a selfie in a coordinating frame with flowers and ribbons.

There is no one of the other Kitties Blue that can compete with Cooper Murphy when it comes to ginger handsomeness…but then his only competition is Raleigh. I love this boy so much, as I know some others of you do.

I also selected Cooper Murphy for today’s selfie, as his birthday, which was assigned by our vet, was Friday. He is now eight years old.  Cooper was already 15 months old when we adopted him, and so we celebrate his Gotcha Day, which is in January.

Hippity Hoppity Time

Yes, it is that time again. Time for you to share your selfie and join the blog hop. You know all your friends, as well as the Kitties Blue, love to see your adorable faces. We know, however, that many of you, as well as your humans, are busy on the weekend. With that in mind, you have until Thursday to join the hope. So, no worries if you don’t even post on Sunday. Have a furabulous and easy Sunday, dear friends.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday on Sunday

Finally, here’s my poem for last Thursday’s poetry challenge presented each week by Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats). Astrid and Sawyer are perched on the roof of the house.

I think most individuals would see this as a creepy, haunted house with a frightened girl facing it. I decided to take it in another direction and make her brave and determined in my poem. Hope you enjoy it.

Anticipation

I feel like I’m being watched,
But this house is deserted.
In my family for generations,
It’s now come to me
To restore its grandeur.
I am not afraid to enter,
But who is lurking nearby?
Friend or foe? I don’t know.
I will not be dissuaded
Claiming what is mine.
Wait…do I hear purring?
Could cats be near,
anticipating my arrival?
If true, that is a good omen!
I am eager to meet and invite
them to share my home.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 10/20/2023

Each week Angel Sammy transmits his poem from the Rainbow Bridge to Teddy for publication. He is a terrific poet, and his weekly creation is always worth reading. Next week, however, Teddy and Sammy’s humans will be on vacation, so there will be no inspiration photo or challenge. But pop on over, by clicking on the badge, to check out Sammy’s poem from this past Thursday.

Thanks for visiting us today. If you didn’t follow and support us, there would be absolutely no reason for us to be here. Kitties Blue and I appreciate each of you.

LISBETH WITH BLUE BUTTERFLIES

Caturday Art

Artistic rendering of a tuxie cat in shades of blue and surrounded by a frame consisting of blue butterflies and gold filigree.

Lisbeth is here today as the subject of Caturday Art. I originally liked this art, but the blep she had going on in the photo makes her look as if she has a huge nose. The photo was a bit out of focus, which usually is okay for art, but maybe not in this case.

To create the art I used the Mechanical effect from Painnt. I changed the hue to blue and used the analog coloring. The blue butterflies frame is from the favpng app.

Here’s your puzzle.

Lisbeth will be participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join her on the hop, click on Athena’s badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

With the help of the developers, I finally have my photo-editing app working again. That means I was able to alter this past Thursday’s inspiration photo to match my poem. So, I will be sharing my poem tomorrow on our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Tock-Tober

Yesterday was the actual day of Tock-Tober, but as it is actually a month-long celebration, I will be sharing some tocks photos for Wordless Wednesday. I cannot think of anything better for a wordless day, as cat tocks are quite recognizable.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is the day of the week I always look forward to, as I get to see all our adorable friends on our blog hop. As most of you know, Kitties Blue are not fans of taking selfies, but I still have five more of their new portraits to share. I know which one of them will have the honor of being your host, but I promised that kitty I would not tell. We sure hope you’ll take just a little time out of your day tomorrow to hop with us.

Thanks for joining us today. Have a fabulous Caturday.

Looking Back

Today our Looking Back post was a Wordless Wednesday post and features our very first cat, Skooter. It is from September 26, 2012, and is entitled, “Cat Imitates Art.” If you subscribe to our blog, you will have already received an e-mail notification (possibly two…sorry) about this post.

I hope you enjoy seeing Kitties Blue #1 and will let us know in the comments for that post.

Thanks for joining us today.
