SUNPUDDLE SNOOZERS & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Friday

Sunpuddle snoozers: tuxie cat and grey tabby cat sprawled together in the sun and sleeping.

The last couple days have been super cold but sunny. Most cats are heat seekers, and Kitties Blue are no exception. When there is a sunpuddle, it is first come first serve unless there just happens to be room for more than one kitty. And that can make for some unusual companions.

Our two sunpuddle snoozers, Misty May and Sawyer, will be joining the blog hops hosted by Comedy Plus (Feline Friday) and Create With Joy (Friendship Friday).

Friendly Fill-Ins

Friendly Fill-ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged- Furballs). If you’d like to participate, check out either of their blogs on Thursday for the sentences to be filled in. You can join the hop by clicking on their badge.

As has become a habit for him, Sawyer has helped be complete the fill-ins today. We both used teal italics.

1. On holidays, I usually have a second serving of dessert.

2. I am thankful for Dad Tom, Kitties Blue and all my wonderful friends.

3. Sawyer: I would like to invite Noelle (Friends Fureverover for a feast.

4. Having the opportunity to live with so many cats throughout the last nearly 40 years was a blessing in disguise. (They have given us so much enjoyment, laughter and love.)

SNOW CAT & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I totally enjoy creating poems and joining Angel Sammy and Teddy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) weekly poetry challenge. They provided a really “cool” inspiration photo this week, but unfortunately my poem is totally lame. I apologize to Teddy, Angel Sammy, James Pierpont (author of “Jingle Bells”) and each of you reading it. I had what I thought was a good plan, but it just didn’t turn out that well. Top that off with the fact Cooper Murphy hates snow after being abandoned in it, and it’s even more pathetic. But I already had Cooper on the sled from a Cat Scouts event, so…

Treeso n a hill covered in snow and bent over with a ginger cat dressed in human clothes and sledding down the hill.

Dashing Through the Snow

These snow people look so sad
Bent over, trudging down the mountain.
The wind at my back makes me go fast!
Sadly, it causes them to slump over.
Many days of sunshine will be needed
To release them from their heavy burden,
So they can stand tall and proud.
I will watch them as I fly by daily—
Thankful I’m a cat and not a tree.

If you haven’t been participating in Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge, I challenge you to give it a try. Check out Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, for next week’s inspiration photo. And please read Angel Sammy’s poem. He’s one of our favorite poets!

Thankful Thursday

It seems as if most of the thankfuls this week are mine. To begin, I am especially thankful for those of you who have read and commented on the past posts I’ve been refurbishing and linking to here.

I also am thankful for completing 2300 Peloton rides and receiving a shout out from the instructor.

I am super thankful for completing lots of my interior Christmas decorating (excluding trees).

All of us are thankful for your support, following, comments and friendship.

Finally, I am thankful my camellia bush is in full bloom. It is always such a bright spot once all the leaves have fallen.

This photo was taken on November 8, so there are many more flowers now.

MORE HUGGING & NAPPING

Awww Mondays

A ginger tabby kitten and a grey/black tabby kitten are hugging and napping.

More napping and hugging from the kittens always equals an awww! So, Audrey and Raleigh are joining the Awww Monday’s blog hop at Comedy Plus.

Sparks

For today’s Spark I selected Dad Tom’s photo of the recent Beaver Blood Moon eclipse.

Beaver Blood Moon eclipse with the following quite: "Any person can make you realize how wonderful the world is., but only few will make you realize how wonderful you are in this world."

Cherish those individuals. They are your true friends.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be embarking on their next adventure tomorrow. Please make certain you join them over at Friends Furever. They always have a terrific time when they are together, and they love taking you along with them.

Looking Back

Kitties Blue and I won’t be posting tomorrow, but if you’re a subscriber, you’ll get an e-mail with a link to a special post from the past. For non-subscribers, you’ll be able to find that link in our Wordless Wednesday post. We hope you’ll look back with us and check out that past post.

See you on Wednesday.

RAZZBERRY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #430

I am pretty miffed at Mom. She told you yesterday that she was taking Audrey out for a stroll and planned to get her to take a selfie. Well guess what? They went on their stroll, but she forget all about asking Audrey to take a selfie. She didn’t even get her to take a selfie after they returned home. So, this giant razzberry is for Mom, as she made me step up and do it.

Selfie of a grey cat with one eye closed and her tongue out giving a razzberry.

I apologize for the blurriness of my selfie, but it is extremely difficult to stay still when giving a razz.

Now that I have shown you my selfie, it’s your turn. I know you’ll be more amenable to snapping one than I was. And, of course, you know all your friends will be by here today looking for you as will all my fursibs. But, as always, if you cannot participate today, it’s okay. We’ll be here waiting for you through Thursday.

On behalf of all the Kitties Blue, thanks for joining our hop, visiting, commenting, supporting us and being our friends. This community rocks!

Purrs and paw-pats, Kizmet

BIG GINGER TOESIES & A FLOOFY BELLY!

Caturday Art

Side view of a napping ginger cat showing off his toes, toe beans and floofy belly. Photo as been turned into art and framed.

I have mentioned a few times now just how big kitten Raleigh’s toes are. These toes, however, belong to our huge ginger boy, Cooper Murphy. Some pretty great toe beans are in this photo, but unfortunately they’ve been disguised a bit by the art effect I selected.

The effect is Stone Mosaic from Painnt. To that I added the Abstract filter from piZap. I decreased the saturation of that, but I do not remember by how much. I like how the effect made Cooper blend into the cat bedspread beneath him and also highlighted his long belly furs.

Here’s the link to a puzzle for all those, like me, who enjoy them.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow’s the big day. That’s right! It is Sunday Selfie time again. I’m hopping to take Audrey out in the stroller tomorrow. I’ll see if I can get her to take a selfie while we are out. Paws and fingers crossed. We look forward to seeing all your adorable faces tomorrow, so get your selfie snapped. Then you can have a nice easy Sunday with your peeps.

Hope to see you ten.

FISH, FELINES, FILL-INS, FRIENDSHIP & VETERANS DAY

I had to get the entire gang to help me this week with the fill-ins. We all used teal italics.

1. A veteran I would like to thank today is all of them, especially the animals.

2. Sawyer: I can’t go a day without treats.

3. Raleigh: Lisbeth’s fish bed is my most frequented napping locale.

Veterans Day

Today we are remembering all the brave men, women and animals who have served our country and protected our freedoms, including my dad, Harvey Buickerood, and Dad Tom’s dad, Bud Blue.

CATIO TIME & STROLLING

Thankful Thursday

Sharing our thankfuls with you each week for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop is very important to us.

Kitties Blue are thankful the autumn weather has stayed warm enough for them to have lots of catio time.

Three cats on perches in a screened deck with a tree and birds behind them.

Audrey, Raleigh and Calista Jo crack me up in this photo. They were totally ignoring the birds in the tree behind them, as well as the birds on the feeders just to the right.

I am thankful that Kizmet and I got to go for a stroll on the greenway with my friend, Etna. It was the inaugural trip with the stroller.

Kitties Blue are thankful for those of you who have visited the old posts I am in the process of refreshing. I believe some of my early posts are my best.

All of us are thankful for your support, following, comments and friendship.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Angel Sammy and Teddy gave us an unusual inspiration picture this week instead of the usual photo. As I’ve been adding kitties to the inspiration photos, I did the same here. But, I used a graphic cat instead of a photo of one of the Kitties Blue to fit the theme.

Colored drawing of three large women. and one tuxedo cat, all with umbrellas in the rain.

I felt I could best represent the picture with a haiku.

getting wet isn’t fun
that should come as no surprise
I am a feline

Wordless Wednesday

Audrey is popping over to Comedy Plus to join the Wordless Wednesday blog hop.

Looking Back

On Sunday, I announced that on each Wednesday and every other Tuesday, I would be posting a link to one of our old posts. I also will be sending an e-mail to all subscribers with the same link. After ten years of posting, I thought it might be of interest to some of our new readers, as well as long-time followers, to see what we were writing about when we first began blogging.. I’ll be calling this feature, “Looking Back.”

This post, “Hey, Get Your Grimey Paw Off My Pork Chop,” is from July 27, 2012. It was the second post from The Cat on My Head. If you decide to read this, Kitties Blue and I hope you enjoy it and let us know in the comments for the post.

We’ll see you tomorrow with Thankfuls and some Poetry.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CLX

Autumn Leaves & Waterfalls

Stinky is more excited than usual to see Periwinkle for their adventure. As he last saw her on Halloween, he’s had to wait eight days for their get together. He’s delighted when he hears the teleportation tunnel rumbling. Moments later, with a whoosh, Periwinkle is ejected right into his waiting paws. They spend a bit more time than usual paw hugging and whisker kissing before Stinky takes her paw and leads Periwinkle back into the tunnel.

They arrive at their destination in North Carolina. When Periwinkle sees the beautiful colors in front of her, she squeals in delight. “Stinky, this is amazingly beautiful. Where are we?”

Pisgah National Forest

“This is Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. We’ve come to look at the autumn leaves. My mom says the leaves are the prettiest she has ever seen. She’s super old, so they must be spectacular. I know we’ve had similar fall adventures, so I hope this is okay?”

“Yes, absolutely,” replies Periwinkle. “I definitely don’t get to see this at home.”

“That is Looking Glass Rock in the background. It has an elevation of 3,969 feet and is very popular with hikers,” explains Stinky.

“We aren’t going to climb it, are we?” asks Periwinkle in a shaky voice. “I know how much you like to climb things and get up really high.”

“Nope, I think that’s too high for even me,” Stinky tells her.

“Wow, Stinky, I can hardly believe how beautiful these leaves are,” exclaims Periwinkle.

“They certainly are. The Blue Ridge Parkway is always a great place to see flowers in the spring and colorful leaves in autumn. That’s the Buck Spring tunnel behind us. Do you want to walk through it?”

“I think I’ll pass. We don’t have a flashlight, and from here it looks pretty dark!”

First Waterfall Stop

Two cartoon tabby cats next to waterfall, called Lower Falls, in North Carolina.

“Oh, boy, waterfalls,” exclaims Periwinkle as she claps her paws. “I love them, and we haven’t visited any in ages.”

Stinky tells her these are called Lower Falls. He is surprised that Periwinkle has climbed higher than he has, but doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t want to call her attention to it in case she gets frightened.

“Stinky, this is even a better view of Looking Glass Rock,” says Periwinkle.

“Yes it is,” Stinky replies.

Picnic Time

Two Cartoon tabby cats sitting on a red plaid blanket and having a picnic at Living Waters waterfall below the Blue Ridge Parkway along the north fork of the French Broad River in Balsam Grove.

“Oh boy a picnic. Thank you Stinky. You are the most thoughtful boyfriend. I love listening to the water, and this will give us lots of time to do so while we have a snack.”

“This waterfall is called Living Waters. Right now we are below the Parkway along the north fork of the French Broad River in Balsam Grove,” Stinky replies.

“Well, it certainly is a lovely spot.”

After their snack the tabbies fall asleep listening to the falls. They only take a short nap prior to moving on to the final attraction of the day.

Dry Falls

Before even asking where they are, Periwinkle admonishes Stinky for climbing so high. Secretly he wishes he’d said something to her when she climbed above him at Lower Falls. Stinky is tempted to blow a razzberry at her, but remains the gentleman and refrains. He tells her they are now at Dry Falls.

“That’s a funny name. This waterfall has more water than the others,” Periwinkle tells Stinky.

“The name comes from the fact that a trail lies behind the falls where we can walk without getting wet,” Stinky explains.

“Let’s go do that,” says Periwinkle.

Stinky agrees and tells her that after they go behind the falls, it is time to head back to his house. They join paws and stroll behind the waterfall giggling and enjoying each other’s company. They stop a couple of times to share whisker kisses. Then the two tabbies head to the teleportation tunnel for the speedy trip back to Stinky’s house.

Visiting the Kittens

After arriving at Stinky’s, Periwinkle says, “hi,” to Stinky’s parents. Both tabbies then head to the catio where they find Calista Jo, Audrey, Cooper Murphy and Raleigh. Bird watching seems to be on the day’s agenda, and Periwinkle and Stinky join in.

Two cartoon tabby cats on a catio with three other tabbies: a ginger, a brown and a buff colored one as well as a dilute tortie cat.

Periwinkle remarks that she is happy they have had a warm fall day for the adventure. Cooper Murphy tells her that the temperature has broken a record. The high was 83 degrees. The old high temperature for the date was 78 degrees.

Finally it’s time for Periwinkle to head home. She says “good-bye,” to all the Kitties Blue. She and Stinky spend several minutes paw hugging and whisker kissing. Then with the familiar whoosh of the teleportation tunnel, Periwinkle is on her way home.

Stinky returns to the catio to hang out in the sun with his fursibs.

The End

Periwinkle & Stinky are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.
