Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) provided us with this unusual photo from the 1950s of a husband and wife switching places for this week’s inspiration. Men normally didn’t do housework back then. Though, I’d never let my kitties be around anyone who smokes; I have added Lisbeth, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer and Misty May to the photo.

Of course, most cats run from the vacuum, but Misty May can’t hear it. Though, not in today’s photo, Audrey and Raleigh are not frightened by the vacuum. Neither was angel Giulietta.

In a photo from the 50s, a husband and wife are switching places. She sits in the easy chair reading the paper while he vacuums. Four cats have been added to the photo as well.

My poem is a conversation between the husband and wife in this photo.

Switching Places

I wish you’d keep those ashes off the floor.
This vacuuming is already a huge chore.
Cleaning the cat fur is enough of an undertaking,
And I swear my back is now breaking.

Your whining is getting on my nerves.
I believe this one day off I deserve.
Every other day I do all these tasks,
And about my day you never even ask?

So is this punishment for not asking about your day,
Or do I have another misdeed for which I must pay?
After all, I am the bread winner of this household,
And menial tasks should not be part of my workload.

I don’t think you could annoy me more.
This conversation is becoming a bore.
Should something happen to me, you couldn’t cope—
With cooking and litter boxes you’d be at the end of your rope!

A little cleaning once a week to give me a rest
Shouldn’t have you so flustered and stressed.
Your life will be back to normal by dinner time,
Then you’ll have a week before you again tackle this grime.

Thankful Thursday

We also enjoy sharing our thankfuls with you each week for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Cooper Murphy and I are happy we finished his Cat Scout ghost project the day before Halloween. He earned a new craft badge.

Sawyer has not had a seizure in two-plus weeks for which he, his dad and I are extremely thankful.

As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for your following, support, comments and friendship.
