BE YOUR BEST SELF!

Sparks

Our ginger boys are back today with a Spark.

Photo of ginger cat and kitten with the quote: "Be the best version of yourself rather than a bad copy of someone else!" by Conchita Wurst.

The author of today’s Spark, Conchita Wurst, is the stage persona of 33-year-old, Austrian singer and drag queen, Thomas Neuwirth.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

Raleigh and Cooper Murphy will be popping over to Comedy Plus to join the Awww Mondays blog hop. You can join them by clicking on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be taking their next adventure today (rather than Tuesday) in celebration of Halloween, so please make certain you join them over at Friends Furever. It will be Part 2 of last week’s adventure when they visited their friend Walter, the caretaker of a house for black cats. They’ll be delivering the yearly supplies from Walter’s Wish List.

Wishing everyone a fun and safe Halloween.

MY…WHAT BIG FANGS YOU HAVE!

Sunday Selfies: Week #248

Grey cat, Kizmet, shares here big fangs for Halloween in a frame with jack-o-lanterns.

Boo! Did I frighten you with my selfie? I’m all ready for Halloween. How about you? Do you have a scary selfie to share with us today? Whether it’s scary or not, I sure do hope you are going to join us today on our hop. My fursibs and I always enjoy seeing your cute faces.

I’m looking forward to Halloween, as I like people and make friends with everybody. I’m pretty certain all the other Kitties Blue will be running every time the doorbell rings. And I know my mom and dad will be shooing me away from the door.

Today, I will be resting up and having an easy Sunday. I wish you the same right after you post your selfie and join our hop. But if you can’t participate today, don’t forget that the hop remains open through Thursday.

Thanks for being our followers and friends. Toodles, I am oft find a sunpuddle and have my nap!

Boos, purrs and paw-pats, Kizmet

GINGERS TURN PINK & GOLD

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy and his BIG baby brother, Raleigh, are the subjects of today’s art. That’s Raleigh in front and all 19 pounds of Cooper in the back crushing his dad’s lap.

Two sleeping, ginger tabby cats are turned pink and gold through the use of an effect from Painnt.

Cooper Murphy may be the heavy weight of the Kitties Blue now, but we fear Raleigh is going to surpass him. Look at the size of his paws! And he’s no slouch when it comes to his kitten noms. We’ve had to start taking his bowl away from him!

Today’s art was created with the Wallpaper 5 effect from Painnt topped with an autumn leaves border from favpng.

Here’s the link to the puzzle.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

I cannot believe that tomorrow is the last Sunday in October. That means the end of daylight saving time is only a week away, and it is less than two months until Christmas. When I was a kid, a year seemed to last forever. Now they are flying by way too quickly. So, don’t let time get away from you. Get your selfie snapped now, and you will be ready to join us for tomorrow’s hop.

Kitties Blue have not revealed to me which one of them might be willing to take on hosting duties. They do hope you’ll drop in to see who it is while you’re linking up your selfie.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

CATIO SUNPUDDLE KITTEN & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Friday

Torbie kitten on the catio in the sun with fall leaves and bird feeder in the background.

We are having a fabulous fall with comfortable temperatures, low humidity and the most vibrant leaf colors I have ever seen. Audrey found herself a dappled sunpuddle on the catio and posed purrfectly for her dad. The surroundly fall colors enhance her Torbie fur.

She’ll be joining the Feline and Friendship Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy respectively.

Here’s a bonus puzzle for this week.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Friendly Fill-ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged- Furballs). If you’d like to participate, check out either of their blogs on Thursday for the sentences to be filled in. You can join the hop by clicking on their badge.

Amazingly I did not need to enlist the help of any of the Kitties Blue this week to complete the fill-ins. I am certain my usual helper, Sawyer, is not disappointed.

1. Cats, caffeine, and a snoring husband keeps me up at night.
2. If I could improve one of my senses, it would be my sight. (I have cataracts I need to have removed.)
3. If I were home alone and heard footsteps in the house, I would call 911 and then leave the house.
4. I would want the epitaph on my tombstone to say, “loved cats.” (Dad Tom and I have our burial sight and headstone. It doesn’t say this, but I can always ask to have it added. It does say, “The heart that has truly loved never forgets,” which is a line from a poem by Thomas Moore and was a part of our wedding vows.)

We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art and another puzzle. Kitties Blue and I hope to see you then!

SAWYER’S ADMONITION & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

On Thursdays we enjoy joining Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) for their poetry challenge. As this blog is dedicated to everything feline, I try to add one of the Kitties Blue to each week’s inspiration photo. This week, that cat is Sawyer. He also has tried his paw, once again, at writing the poem.

Sawyer's Admonition: Grey tabby cat tells a little boy with a hobo pack and his pet piggy not to runaway.

Sawyer’s Admonition

Tommy, please don’t runaway.
For your and piggy’s sake, I beg you to stay.
It’s really not any fun to roam
And be away from your wonderful home.
When I went on my walkabout last year,
There wasn’t a day Mom didn’t shed a tear.
Your mom’ll miss you and piggy when you’re gone,
And it really doesn’t matter for how long.
Even just a few hours will make her sad,
And she will also be really mad
That you didn’t think home was good enough
And you took piggy and left in a huff.
Those snacks won’t last you both an hour,
And tummy grumbling has lots of power
To make you regret your rash action
And then lose your way by distraction.
That’s what happened to me, and it was scary,
Especially as it was totally unnecessary.
So, please don’t cause anymore pain or drama.
Head back home now and hug your momma.

© Sawyer Blue – 10/26/2022

To play along and write a poem, check out Two Spoiled Cats, by clicking on the poetry badge, for next week’s inspiration photo. And please read Angel Sammy’s poem. It is always a winner!

Thankful Thursday

Now it is time for our weekly thankfuls, so we can join Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Not only is Sawyer the author of this week’s poem, he’s also up first with a thankful. He has finally broken that once-a-week seizure occurrence. He is now nine days past his last one. All the Kitties Blue have their paws crossed that he can continue to extend this seizure-free episode.

Cooper Murphy is thankful that he earned another merit badge at Cat Scouts for taking the class and passing the quiz (with 100 %) about Trap Door Spiders. Cooper also was one of two winners of an Amazon gift card in the Cat Scout Halloween Bingo Game.

I am thankful that we have had some decent fall weather, and I have been able to spend time in the yard planting bulbs and cleaning up my flower beds. I am hoping to have a few more nice days, so I can continue the process.

As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for your following, support, comments and friendship.

If you’d like to participate in the hop, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge to pop over and add your link to his post.

Thanks for joining us today. Kitties Blue and I are always happy to share our posts with you.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CLVIIl

The Bee & the Mouse

Stinky is ready and waiting for Periwinkle with the Halloween costumes their readers selected for them. He doesn’t want to be late for first part of their annual visit to Walter and the black cats in his care. Right on time, Periwinkle comes hurtling from the teleportation tunnel into Stinky’s waiting paws. After several whisker kisses, Periwinkle says, “Stinky, I am so anxious to see what costumes our readers selected for us!”

“I have them right here,” says Stinky, and he reveals the selections. “These two won paws down. Let’s get changed so we can show everybody.”

Two cartoon tabby cats, one dressed in a bee costume and one in a mouse costume with a spooky graveyard and house in the background.

“Oh, Stinky, I loved all the costumes we tried, but I think these are my favorites,” says Periwinkle.

“They are also my Mom’s favorites,” replies Stinky. “Personally, I sort of wanted to be the lion,” he adds.

“You can still be the lion for Halloween,” Periwinkle tells him. “Now that we’ve got our costumes, let’s get over to Walter’s to get his Wish List for this year,” adds Periwinkle.

Walter & Friends Greet the Tabbies

Periwinkle and Stinky jump back into the teleportation and are whisked away. With the usual whoosh, they arrive in a field near Walter’s house where he and some of his charges are waiting.

Outdoor fall scene with four black cats.

“Hi, Periwinkle & Stinky, I thought I’d meet you out here among the fall trees, as it is such a gorgeous day. A few of this year’s house inhabitants decided to come along. The kitten is Dusty. The kitty with the big gold eyes is Minnie, and the shy cat in the back is Stanley.”

Periwinkle gives Walter the jack-o-lantern she brought, and Stinky hands over the banner. Walter thanks them.

The tabbies then walk to the other three cats and give each a nose boop in way of greeting. After that Walter suggests they walk back to the house so Stinky and Periwinkle can meet some more of the cats and Walter can give them his Wish List.

The Black Cats’ House

Spooky house with eyes blinking in the windows.

“Well, Walter, it looks as if you have a full house again this year,” says Periwinkle.

“I always do. You know we have to be careful this time of year and keep all the black cats safe. I really hope when Halloween is over that I can get everyone adopted in time for the holidays. Then I get to have a rest and make any house repairs I need prior to kitten season.”

“We’re going to go meet some of the other kitties and then we will get your Wish List,” Stinky tells Walter.

Walter replies, “That sounds like a great idea. I know many of the cats are anxious to meet you. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you how cute your costumes are this year.”

“I sure hope the other cats don’t think I am a real mouse,” Periwinkle says through giggles. “Or that I am a real bee,” adds Stinky.

The kittens set off to meet all the current residents, and Walter goes to his desk in the house to finish his Wish List. It is extra long this year, and he is afraid he’s asking for too much but will give the tabbies his list nonetheless.

When the tabbies return, Walter presents them with his list as well as some homemade tuna treats. While they are snacking, Walter apologizes for the length of his list and tells Periwinkle and Stinky that he does not expect them to get everything on it.

Stinky takes the list and tucks it into his costume without looking at it. He assures Walter that he and Periwinkle will do their best to get everything.

When the tabbies finish their treats, it is time to say good-bye until next week when they return with the supplies. There are paw hugs and nose boops all around prior to Periwinkle and Stinky heading back to the teleportation tunnel.

Walter’s Wish List

When they arrive at their tunnel, Stinky pulls the Wish List from his costume. He and Periwinkle read through it.

A shopping list of food and items for cats.

“Oh my gosh,” exclaims Periwinkle. “ This is a huge list. I don’t think we will be able to bring everything by wagons as we usually do. I think I will need to ask my brofur, Raz, if we can load up his plane and fly everything here.”

“Periwinkle, that is an excellent idea. I am certain he will agree to help us.”

“As long as he doesn’t have a Cat Scouts’ trip, I agree,” says Periwinkle. Stinky hands the list to Periwinkle, and she puts it inside her costume.

“Let’s get going, Stinky, I’d like to have a little visit with the kittens before I have to head home.”

The tabbies walk into the teleportation tunnel paw-in-paw, and are back at Stinky’s house in a flash. They both take off their costumes and set off to look for the kittens.

Napping Kittens

As usual, Audrey and Raleigh are found napping. Audrey opens her eyes briefly, but Raleigh continues to sleep. Periwinkle watches them for a while and then gives them gentle pets on the head before leaving them to continue their nap.

As she and Stinky had stuffed themselves with Walter’s homemade tuna treats, the tabbies decide to skip their usual snack and just hang out with the other Kitties Blue on the catio.

Finally it is time for Periwinkle to head home. She and Stinky share oodles of whisker kisses and paw hugs. With a wave Periwinkle enters her tunnel and is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky returns to the catio for a nice long nap.

The End

Stinky and Periwinkle are participating in the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

SUNPUDDLE BATHING & A SPARK

Awww Mondays

Grey cat bathing a tabby kitten a bath in a sunpuddle.

Kizmet has taken charge of the kittens. She determined that Audrey had not done a good job of washing her face, so Kizmet took over the task, as the two enjoyed a sunpuddle. If you enlarge the photo, you can just see Kizmet’s tongue to the left of Audrey’s right paw. Audrey often returns the favor and helps Kizmet bathe.

I think the way Kizmet takes care of the kittens is pretty darn awww-dorable. That’s why she and Audrey are joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. Click on the Awww badge to do the same.

I have posted this Spark previously, but I do think it is one worth repeating. It basically is telling us to be present in our lives at all times. I often go through my days just doing and not thinking. I have trouble living in the moment. As I continue to grow older, I need constant reminders that our time on earth is fleeting, and I should not just let it slip away.

The author of today’s Spark, Sai Baba of Shirdi was an Indian spiritual master, identified as a saint and a fakir. He was revered by both his Hindu and Muslim devotees during, as well as after, his lifetime. According to accounts from his life, Sai Baba preached the importance of “realization of the self.”

The photo is one of Dad Tom’s, which he took recently. In the background is Looking Glass Mountain, which is located in Transylvania County, North Carolina.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be taking their next adventure tomorrow right here. These two active youngsters have barrels of fun when they’re together. Tomorrow they will be making their annual visit to their friend, Walter, who has a home for black cats, to get his Halloween wish list. Next week, they will deliver the items on his list. Periwinkle and Stinky will be wearing the costumes our readers voted for in the poll from two week’s ago. They really hope you stop by to see how cute they look and accompany them on their visit to Walter.

CALISTA JO’S TWO VERSIONS OF CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

Calista Jo is the subject of today’s Caturday Art. She has a miffed expression, as she was interrupted during her daily ablution. She may not have liked having her photo taken, but I liked it so much I couldn’t decide which version of the art I made to use. So you are getting both versions as well as two jigsaw puzzles.

Art version of a dilute tortie cat in shades of purples and lavenders in a celestial frame with similar colors.

Art version of a dilute tortie cat in multiple colors and a lavender & white frame.

The main differences between the two versions are the color and the frames. I started with the same base, Indigo Dreamscape from Painnt. For the first version I added the Bubbly filter from piZap, and the second has the XOXO filter. As usual, the frames are from favpng.

Here are your puzzles.
