HAPPY TUESDAY ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PERIWINKLE & STINKY

A Surprise Visit

Periwinkle tumbles from the teleportation tunnel with a confused expression on her face. As Stinky is helping her up, she asks, “Stinky, what am I doing here? I thought our adventure isn’t happening until Thursday. And why are we dressed in our fancy clothes?”

Stinky happily tells her, “We have a big announcement to make, and if we make it today, we also can remind our readers to come back Thursday for our adventure.”

“So what are we announcing?”

The Announcement

“For the third year in a row, my mom entered us in the Cat Writers’ Association Annual Contest. And we received two Certificates of Excellence in the Short Form – Fiction Category. She entered ‘The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part LXXXI,’ which is when we visited the eagles on the Discover the James’ Bald Eagle Tour.

“Oh, Stinky, that was a really great adventure. Some of those birds were bigger than we are. What was the second adventure for which we were recognized?”

“It’s for when we went on our fishing trip with Cooper Murphy and Tyebe, ‘The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky: Part LXXVII,’” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

Periwinkle claps and hops up and down. “I loved that we could share that adventure with your brofur, Cooper, and his girlfriend. I’m really happy the judges also enjoyed it! Did your mom get any additional certificates?”

“Yes, she did. But I’ll let her mention it in a different post,” Stinky replies.

“Stinky, This has been so much fun to let everybody know about our certificates, but I am really looking forward to our adventure on Thursday. It is going be epic.”

Stinky gives Periwinkle a huge paw hug and agrees with her. As the tabbies have completed their announcement, it’s time for Periwinkle to teleport home and rest up for Thursday. Periwinkle and Stinky share lots of whisker kisses and say their good-byes. Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel, gives Stinky a final wave and is gone in a whoosh.

Stinky & Periwinkle are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can do the same by clicking on the badge.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO RETURN HERE THURSDAY FOR THIS WEEK’S THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY!

BEAUTY IS GOD’S HANDWRITING

Sparks

PHOTO OF A STARGAZER LILY WITH QUOTE FROM RALPH WALDO EMERSON ABOUT BEAUTY BEING GOD'S HANDWRITING.

When I saw this photo of stargazer lilies from our garden that Dad Tom took, I knew I needed a Spark about beauty. I found this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson to be perfect. Nature truly presents us with beautiful visions.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

An Announcement from Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, want to let you know they will not be here tomorrow. They are postponing this week’s adventure until Thursday. July 21 is a super important day here at Kitties Blue house with two special events. Periwinkle & Stinky personally invite you to join them when they celebrate. Looking forward to seeing you then.

ANGEL MAU’S FIRST OFFICIAL SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #413

Two years ago today our beloved Mau(ricio) became an angel. He’d been ailing for a couple of weeks, but we had no idea that his death was imminent. He passed on his own terms after going out to the yard through the cat door early on that Friday morning. As with all of our angels, I will hold him in my heart always. Admittedly he takes up a very large part of my heart. Mau had a huge purrsonality and loving heart. He adored his wife Allie, his fursibs, his humans, his human girlfriend, Mary Jane, and pretty much anyone he ever met.

I know I think of him daily, as I look at his photos and the wonderful painting Karen Nichols (Cat Scouts Denmaster) created of him.

Today, Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and I remember him with his very first and not too great selfie from August 3, 2014.

Tuxedo cat, who is now an angel shares his first selfie photo from 2014.

We did not officially begin the Sunday Selfies blog hop until two weeks later on August 17. (Next month we will celebrate our eighth Sunday Selfies anniversary.)

Mau took his final selfies on July 8, 2020. You can see those in the post, “Mau’s Final Selfies.” After six years of practice, he did a much better job with those final ones.

Hopping Time

I know Angel Mau would be so happy if you join him today and post your selfie. But, if you don’t post on Sundays or are busy today, you can join the top anytime through Thursday. Kitties Blue love making new anipal friends. If you think any of your friends might enjoy participating, please invite them on our behalf.

Thank you to everyone who continues to hop with us each week. We appreciate you support and friendship.

SPOTTED CAT IN A BOX

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy took his turn in the Cat Lady Box Kizmet occupied in yesterday’s post. I used his photo for today’s art.

Art version entitled, "Spotted Cat," of a ginger tabby cat in a box...framed with yellow flower and yellow ribbon.

The effect is from Painnt and is entitled, Spotted Cat. I really like how it accentuated Cooper’s tabby stripes. Of course, the frame is from favpng. I realize the frame is rather feminine, but knowing Cooper is secure in his masculinity, while also comfortable showing his feminine side, I thought he’d be okay with it. Both Coop and I hope you like it.

Here’s the puzzle for this week.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow will be a special Sunday Selfies post, so it would mean the world to the Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and me if you’d join us. July 17 marks the second anniversary of our Mau(ricio) receiving his angel wings. The post will be dedicated to remembering him. He was truly a special cat. I think about and miss him everyday.

We’d be delighted if you would post your own selfie and join the hop, but would be happy if you just decide to visit.

Have a meowvolous Caturday. We’ll see you tomorrow.

WHO TOOK MY TOYS?

Did you miss us yesterday? If so, I’m sorry Kitties Blue and I were not here to entertain you. Sometimes I just need a day off. Add to that the fact that my poetry mojo took the day off as well, skipping the post made purrfectly good sense.

Feline/Friendship Friday

Grey cat sits in a Cat Lady subscription box and gives her mom the stink eye while wondering who took her toys.

Photo by the author: Janet Blue

Kizmet is back again today giving me the stink eye while sitting in the Cat Lady subscription box. Each box comes with two cat toys. Kizmet believes those toys belong to her. When she found both toys had been removed from the most recent box by another of the Kitties Blue, she was not amused. Of course, she assumed I was to blame!

In spite of her displeasure, Kizmet agreed to join the Feline Friday and Friendship Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy, respectively.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #220

Kitties Blue and I like to participate in Friendly Fill-Ins each Friday. It’s hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). If you’d like to participate, you can find the four sentences to be filled in each Thursday on their blogs. Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. To join the hop, click on the badge.

I had to get a lot of help with this week’s fill-Ins. I’m grateful for Stinky/Sawyer coming forward and taking care of all but #4. We all used teal italics for our fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. Sawyer: A fun way to celebrate Christmas in July is to receive lots of extra treats.

2. Stinky: My favorite summer activity is going on adventures with Periwinkle. (Of course, I enjoy doing this all year round.)

3. Sawyer: When I sleep, my dreams are of Noelle.

4. Fire scare(s) me more than anything else.

We will definitely be back tomorrow with some Caturday art and a jigsaw puzzle. Kitties Blue and I hope you’ll join us again then.

ATTRACTING TRUE FRIENDS

Sparks

I have posted many Sparks about friendship throughout the years. Having friends is a blessing, and I’m grateful for mine. I believe that is why I gravitate to these particular Sparks.

Attractingt true friends: Two grey cats napping together presenting the quote: "There is a magnet in your heart that will attract true friends. That magnet is unselfishness, thinking of others first; when you learn to live for others, they will live for you," by Paramahansa Yogananda.

As is often the case, I was unfamiliar with the author of the Spark.

Paramahansa Yogananda was an Indian Hindu monk, yogi and guru. Born  Mukunda Lal Ghosh in 1893, he introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF)/Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) of India. Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle in America and spent his last 32 years living in the U.S. His long-term influence in the American yoga movement led him to be considered by yoga experts as the “Father of Yoga in the West.”

Awww Mondays

Sawyer & Kizmet are participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can meet them there by clicking on the Awww badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be taking their next adventure tomorrow. These two charming and adventurous youngsters love spending time together and visiting all types of interesting places. One of the best things is that they enjoy taking you along with them, so please plan to meet them over at Friends Furever tomorrow!

COCOONING SELFIE & A SAD FAREWELL

Sunday Selfies: Week #412

When you see today’s selfie, you may think it is Sawyer recovering from a seizure. But it isn’t. It’s me, Kizmet.

I like to turn towels, afghans, blankets and any other warm item into a cocoon. This afghan off the back of my dad’s chair, however, is my favorite. So, it seemed like an excellent place to snap my selfie for today. It doesn’t matter that we are having a hot, hot summer with oodles of humidity. I will even cocoon on the catio in a tarp Mom has there.

If you missed my towel cocoon photo, I look totally adorable in it. You can see that photo at “Do You Need This?”.

I asked Mom to make another puzzle, since I think this is such a sweet photo. I sure hope you enjoy completing it.

Hopping Along

Now it’s your turn to snap a selfie and join our hop. You know you want to show off just how cute you are. And my fursibs and all your friends want to opportunity to “ooh” and “aah” when they see you. Cute animals make people happy, and we all know our humans could use a lot more happiness in their lives. So, please participate! If it’s inconvenient for you do join today or if you don’t post on Sundays, you have the opportunity to join the hop anytime before midnight Thursday! See…you have no reason not to join!

Newest Angel: Little Binky

It is with heavy hearts we say good-bye to friend and regular hopper, Little Binky, from AngelsWhisper2011.

Little Binky lived in Holland with her granny and grandpaw. In a few months she would have celebrated her 20th birthday. She was a true sweetheart and famous for handing out pawkisses. Her granny wrote the most beautiful memorial post for her. If you haven’t visited and left your condolences, click on Little Binky’s photo to do so.

Little Binky spent lots of time enjoying her beautiful garden, so my mom thought a bed a flowers was the purrfect background for this memorial.

Little Binky, we will miss you but know we will all meet again. Until that time comes, you are with all our angel fursibs and angel friends and well looked after. Sending you pawkisses.

Purrs & paw-pats, Kizmet

STEGOSAURUS & CAT ARTIFIED

Caturday Art

For our art today, Mom selected another photo of me with the stegosaurus Periwinkle sent to Stinky for his birthday.

Art version of grey tabby cat with pink and blue stegosaurus toy and a sparkly flower border

To create the art Mom used the Fizz effect from Painnt and a border from favpng. She is definitely stuck in a rut!  Sorry.

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty hosts the Caturday Art blog hop. I’m going to join, and you can as well. Just click on Athena’s badge.

If you’d like to see me with my stegosaurus in an “unartified” photo, click on the link to yesterday’s post at the bottom of this page.

Mom made a puzzle for you.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has slipped past, and it’s already time to get your selfie snapped so you can participate in our hop tomorrow. I have no idea which of us might be your host. That means, even if you don’t hop, you’ll need to pop over to check out who is here tomorrow to greet you. And, of course, you’ll want to see the selfies of your friends.

Thanks for stopping in today. Kitties Blue and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with love and whisker kisses for Noelle)
