DISTRACTED PROFILE SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week 415

If you came by today looking for those pesky little kittens, they aren’t here. I’ll admit they are cute, but so am I. Unfortunately, I refused to take my eyes off the interlopers long enough to take a proper selfie. What I have for you is a profile, and it’s a bit blurry.

distracted selfie: a profile photo of a grey cat

I hope you understand that none of us get it right every time. Distractions can really mess with my abilities, and I bet yours as well. Regardless, I am certain you’ve taken a terrific selfie today, and I’d be so pleased if you’d share it with us and all your other friends. As a reminder, you can enter the hop anytime through Thursday.

On behalf of all my fellow Kitties Blue, thank you for your friendship, support and following. You all are the best friends a blogger and her kitties could hope for.

Purrs & paw-pats, Kizmet

IT’S OFFICIAL: INTRODUCING AUDREY & RALEIGH

Formal Introduction

If you follow Dad Tom on Facebook, you already know the news: Kitties Blue have grown from seven to nine members. And if you’re a regular follower and reader of this blog, you know we took in two orphans Tuesday night. As many of you anticipated, I fell in love and convinced Dad Tom we had room for two more at the inn.

As you can see, very little persuasion was necessary.

Names

I know some of you will be curious as to how their names were selected. Audrey has been on our list of names for girl kitties for many years. It is the first name of one of our previous vets, who we dearly loved. She took wonderful care of many of the past Kitties Blue.

Raleigh is a derivation of my mother’s maiden name, which was Rowley.

Caturday Art

I used the photo from yesterday’s post to create this week’s art. If you missed seeing the original photo, click on the link at the bottom of this post.

it's official: new kittens are given names and shared in an artsy rendition of their previous day's photo

I actually made two artsy versions of this photo but decided to share just this one and save the other for a future post. Of course, I used Painnt to create my art. This is the Deciduous Dream effect with the “multiply” filter. And the frame is another from the favpng app.

I did create a puzzle for all the jigsaw fans.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has flown by, and it’s time to dust off your camera or phone and snap a selfie of yourself for our blog hop. As usual, I have no idea which of the Kitties Blue will take on hosting duties tomorrow. I am fairly certain I will give the kittens a rest. I don’t want any of the rest of the gang to feel they are being pushed aside. Each one of the Kitties Blue is important and loved. That means you’ll need to stop in tomorrow to see who shows up.

As we tell you every week, Kitties Blue and all your friends look forward to seeing your adorable faces every Sunday. So, please stop in and share. And if you have any friends you think might wish to show off their cuteness, please invite them along.

Hope to see you tomorrow.

THEY’RE BACK!

Feline/Friendship Friday

Your newest feline friends are back today for the Friday blog hops. They had their first vet visit today, and they were totally “chill” about it. They didn’t even make a peep in the car on the way to or from.

they're back: tabby no-name kittens are in a collage from the veterinarian's office.:

Number 1 (on the left) weighed in at 2.52 pounds, and his sister (on the right) weighed in at 2.24 pounds. They received their distemper vaccine, flea treatment and deworming medication.

They will be receiving a 62″ x 62″ playpen from Chewy within a couple of days.

So, that’s our day three update. I suspect we’ll have another one tomorrow.

The kittens will be joining the Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create With Joy.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #222

Kitties Blue and I like to participate in Friendly Fill-Ins each Friday. It’s hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). If you’d like to participate, you can find the four sentences to be filled in each Thursday on their blogs. Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. To join the hop, click on the badge.

As is often the case, I had to get some help to complete this week’s fill-ins. Stinky agreed to take on #2. We both used teal italics for our fill-ins.

1. I would rather hear nails on a chalkboard than cats fighting.

2. Stinky: The best part of The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky is getting to spend the entire day with Periwinkle.

3. I wouldn’t mind if the current heat and humidity permanently disappeared.

4. If I could create one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, it would be to be kind to each other.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art. You shouldn’t be surprised if it contains kittens!

SOME MIGHTY HUGE THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

We have a variety of mighty huge thankfuls this week for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Kitties Blue may not be thankful for the following, but Dad Tom and I are grateful for the opportunity to look after these two munchkins.

huge thankfuls: two tabby kittens wrapped in a colorful towel.

If you visited our Wordless Wednesday post, you already got a glimpse of these two. Meet No Name #1 (male buff/orange tabby) and No Name #2 (female brown tabby). They arrived here Tuesday evening after I agreed to take them from a friend. I’m fairly certain you are wondering if they are joining the Kitties Blue crew. At this time, that is not the plan, which is why they are unnamed. But only time will tell.

They have not met the Kitties Blue but all are aware of the others. #1 and #2 have a vet appointment tomorrow afternoon. Depending on how that goes will determine if they will be allowed to interact with the permanent residents.

Sawyer actually has the biggest and best thankful of the week. He hasn’t had a seizure in seven weeks! I’m always delighted when the time between seizures is extensive, but it also causes me to be on high alert in anticipation of one.

Stinky and Periwinkle told you that the Cat Writers’ Association awarded them Certificates of Excellence for two of their adventures. If you missed that post and would like to know which adventures received recognition, you can do that at “Happy Tuesday Announcement from Periwinkle & Stinky.” In addition to those C0Es, I am thankful for receiving two others: one for a photo of Kizmet, which you can see at “Krazy Kitten Kizmet’s Toesies & Tailio“and one for a post remembering Giulietta, “Thankful for 11 Years.”

Finally, we are, of course, thankful for your support, following and friendship. It means the world to us.

If you’d like to join the Thankful Thursday blog hop, enter the URL for Brian’s blog in your browser and pop on over to his blog.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I must apologize to our wonderful friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats), for not writing a poem today. I may try to have one for you and them tomorrow, but I am not making any promises. Along with kitten caregiving, I have three additional projects in the works. But please do not let the lack of my writing a poem stop you from visiting Two Spoiled Cats. Angel Sammy is a masterful poet, and his poems are always worth reading. Click on his badge to visit now.

See y’all tomorrow.

SPARK ABOUT SUMMER LAZINESS

An Awww Mondays Spark

Today’s Spark is really more about the photo of Cooper Murphy and Astrid than it is about the quote. So, I have combined Sparks and Awww Mondays.

SUMMER LAZINESS: ORANGE GABBY CAT AND TORTOISE SHELL CAT LIE AROUND ON A HOT SUMMER DAY

It’s been so dang hot, it is hard to be anything but lazy. I’m not sure if it is ever respectable for humans to be lazy, but it is always so for cats. All of the Kitties Blue crew are champions at it.

The author of today’s Spark, Sam Keen, is a prolific American author, professor and philosopher. He’s known for his exploration of questions regarding love, life, religion and being a male in contemporary society.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Cooper Murphy and Astrid are participating in the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. Click on the Awww badge to pop over there.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite cartoon tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be taking their next adventure tomorrow. These two comical and fun-loving youngsters visit all types of interesting places and have oodles of fun when they’re together. One of the best things is that they enjoy taking you along with them, so please plan to meet them tomorrow at Friends Furever for their next adventure!

PURPLE POLKADOT SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #414

purple polkadot cat: tuxedo cat wearing a purple polka dot collar and framed in purple polkadots

I don’t show up here often (the last time was June 11), but when I do, I make certain it’s with a terrific photo. Mom made my selfie even more special by matching the frame to my purple polkadot collar. I hope my angel boyfriend, Charles, is looking down and can see me. I’m thinking of him and sending him all my love.

I asked Mom to make a puzzle of me, as I like this photo so much.

Hopping Time

Y’all know what time it is now. Time to share you selfie with us and all your other friends. Most of us are in the midst of the “hots” of summer, so I suggest you get your selfie snapped and posted early. That way you can find a nice cool spot and enjoy an easy for the remainder of the day. Of course, if you cannot join us today, the blog will be open through Thursday.

On behalf of all the Kitties Blue I’d like to thank each of you for your support, following and friendship, especially for our blog hop and for the many milestones we celebrated this week.

Thanks for joining us today.

Purrs & paw-pats, Lisbeth

6TH ANNIVERSARY OF ANGELS ALLIE & MAU

Caturday Art

Though these two precious and purrfect angels cannot be with us today, except in our hearts and memories, we would never miss wishing them a happy anniversary. They will be loved and remembered always by their families and many others.

My art today is a collage with some special memories. I’ve done many collages for Mau and Allie, but a few of today’s photos may be new to you. The one of them in The Lady Allie swan boat from Cat Scouts is an all-time favorite of mine.

angels anniversary: collage with sledding photo, space photo, duck boat, wedding and formal portrait of tuxedo cat and birman cat.

I miss these two everyday, and I know Allie’s mom, Sharon, does as well. I suspect some others of you also miss them.

Cooper Murphy made a lovely cake for Mau and Allie and, of course, we have champagne.

Please join us in celebrating and remembering our special angel wife and husband. If you were not following us when these two tied the knot at Cat Scouts, you can check out their wedding at “A Grand Affair.”

I did create a jigsaw for all who enjoy puzzling.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We have had quite a week of celebrations and milestones. So, Kitties Blue are ready for a nice easy Sunday, but first one of them will need to step up, snap a selfie and takeover tomorrow’s hosting duties. No clue as to which of them it might me. We sincerely hope many of you will take selfies as well and participate in our hop. You know how much we and all your other friends enjoy seeing your precious faces.

Until then, please celebrate with us and enjoy your Caturday.

CAMOUFLAGE CAT & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Fridays

camouflage cat: grey cat lying on a primarily grey rug with a hot pink stegosaurus toy

If Kizmet wasn’t rolling around with Sawyer’s stegosaurus, she would disappear right into the rug!

Kizmet is participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #221

Kitties Blue and I like to participate in Friendly Fill-Ins each Friday. It’s hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). If you’d like to participate, you can find the four sentences to be filled in each Thursday on their blogs. Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. To join the hop, click on the badge.

As is often the case, I had to get some help to complete this week’s fill-ins. Astrid and Sawyer each helped. We all used teal italics for our fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I think paying retail for anything is a waste of money.

2. Astrid: Lately, I spend a lot of time playing the Mouse for Cats game. (Not to brag, but I am the best at the game, scoring more direct hits than any of my fursibs.)

3. Skydiving is the craziest thing on my bucket list.

4. Sawyer: Give Your Cat All the Treats S/he Wants Day is a holiday that I’d like to create or see more celebrated. (This should be a holiday every day of the year!)

Tomorrow will be another special anniversary: Angel Allie and Angel Mau’s sixth wedding anniversary. We will celebrate it with some special art. Kitties Blue and I hope you’ll join us again then.

TWO MILESTONE CELBRATIONS

Periwinkle’s Arrival

Anxious for today’s adventure, Periwinkle arrives at Stinky’s house super early. As she tumbles from the teleportation tunnel, she slides across the floor right into the wall. She hollers, “ouch” followed by “fiddlesticks,” before she slaps her paw over her mouth. She knows all the Kitties Blue as well as Dad Tom and Mom Janet are asleep, and she fears she’s awakened them all. Periwinkle is miffed at herself, as she realizes Stinky is always at the tunnel waiting to catch her when she comes tumbling out.

As Periwinkle is picking herself up and straightening her furs, Lisbeth comes into the foyer. “Hey, what’s going on here? The sun isn’t even up yet!”

Periwinkle explains that she wants to be waiting for Stinky when he gets up so they could have the entire day together. She tells Lisbeth, “I really didn’t intend to make such a noisy entrance!” Before she can say anything else, Cooper Murphy comes wandering into the room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He asks, “What’s all the kerfuffle out here?” before he notices Periwinkle.

Cooper shakes his head, but gives Periwinkle a wink, and asks, “Should I go wake the man of the day?” Periwinkle blushes and nods yes. Cooper Murphy trots off to find Stinky, who is asleep upstairs. As he’s doing that the remainder of the Kitties Blue join Lisbeth and Periwinkle in the foyer. When Sawyer comes down the stairs and sees Periwinkle, he’s totally surprised. He runs up to her and gives a huge paw hug and oodles of whisker kisses, only stopping when Periwinkle starts to giggle.

“Wow, I didn’t expect you so early today. This is terrific,” Stinky tells her. “I didn’t know if you would remember that this is a special day.”

Periwinkle replies, “Of course, I did. How could I forget something so special.” After she replies, Periwinkle gets Cooper Murphy to help her pull a huge banner out of a shopping bag she’s brought from home. As they unroll it, she tells all the Kitties Blue that she and Noelle made it together.

10th Blogoversary

milestone celebrations: cartoon grey tabby cat and ginger tabby cat with balloons and a banner that reads, Congratulations 10th Blogoversary.

When Stinky sees the banner, his smile turns to a frown and all he can say is, “Oh, right! We are celebrating that milestone! I guess it is a pretty big deal; though, I have been a Kitties Blue for less than half the time.”

Misty May, Astrid and Lisbeth begin to hoot and holler and applaud when they see the sign. Being around at the start of The Cat on My Head, they are thrilled to be celebrating such a momentous occasion. Being the actual “cat on my head,” Misty May is proud to report that this is the 2,948th post on the blog. She says, “Frankly I am amazed our mom has stuck with this for so long. She normally has a very short attention span.”

All the Kitties Blue laugh at that, except Stinky. He’s sitting in the corner by himself pouting. When Periwinkle sees him, she asks Cooper Murphy to help her again. She pulls flowers, a cake, treats and another huge banner from her bag.

1st Anniversary of 2nd Gotcha Day

milestone celebrations: grey cartoon tabby cat with a cake and potted periwinkle plant with balloons and happy anniversary sign.

When Sawyer sees what she has, he runs to Periwinkle and again showers her with whisker kisses. “Oh you are the best girlfriend ever. I really thought you forgot that this is a special day for me!”

Periwinkle presents Stinky with a special cake Cooper Murphy helped her bake. She also gives him a periwinkle plant in a kitty pot as well as two huge containers of treats.

“Stinky, how could I ever forget that one year ago today is when you returned from your three-and-a-half-week, unauthorized walkabout. I will never forget how worried and frightened we all were that we’d never see you again. Nor will I ever forget how hard your mom and dad and I worked to find you. And I will especially never forget how grateful we were to the many people around the world praying for you.”

“I’m sorry I was being selfish and a grump,” Stinky tells her and his fursibs.

Periwinkle hugs him and says, “Even though you were less than nice to your mom when she brought you home, everyone was so happy to see you, and they all forgave you for taking off. So it is a day to celebrate both you, the ten years of your blog and the friendships you’ve made. Besides, if your mom and my mom didn’t have blogs, we never would have met. And, if you had not been found and brought home, your mom would not have been able to keep writing this blog. So, as you can, see both occasions are super important. Are you ready to celebrate both?”

All the Kitties Blue shout in unison, “Come on Stinky, let’s celebrate. Open up those treats Periwinkle brought.” Stinky does just that!

milestone celebrations: spilled treats and grey cartoon tabby cat

“Dive in, everybody. Let’s eat until we hork,” shouts Stinky.

Thankful Thursday

So we are thrilled to have two giant thankfuls today: our blogoversary and the anniversary of Stinky’s homecoming. Additionally we are thankful for Stinky being six weeks seizure free! We would not have made it to ten years without the support and friendship of so many animal lovers and followers from around the world. Surviving the weeks when Stinky was missing with our spirits and hopes for his return intact would have been unfathomable without the support.

Thank you to everyone who visits and is always praying for Stinky and his alter ego, Sawyer.

All Stinky’s fursibs gather with he and Periwinkle in the yard for a final photo to celebrate the day.

milestone celebrations: group photo with two cartoon grey tabby cats and six other cats

After naps on the catio, all the cats gather around Periwinkle to tell her, “thank you” for such a fabulous celebration. She and Stinky spend lots of time paw hugging, whispering and sharing whisker kisses before Periwinkle enters the teleportation tunnel for the trip home. With a final wave and a whoosh Periwinkle departs.

Brian hosts the Thankful Thursday blog hop. Periwinkle, Stinky & Stinky’s fursibs are joining the hop. If you’d like to participate, enter the URL for Brian’s blog in your browser.
