ASTRID’S EASTER SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #400

Easter Selfie with tortoise shell cat sitting in the sun and surrounded with vintage-looking, flowered frame

I know we Kitties Blue are not fond of selfies, but my Dad caught me in a weak moment on the catio. And I’m actually pretty proud to be selected to be the Easter selfie and your host today. Plus it’s the 400th Sunday Selfies blog hop. Seems like a pretty prestigious honor to me.

I also like the frame mom selected for my selfie. I think it complements my furs purrfectly.

Whether or not you celebrate Easter or want to fancy up your photo for the occasion, I am looking forward to seeing your selfie, as are all the Kitties Blue.

If you do celebrate Easter, Kitties Blue, as well as our mom and dad, wish you a joyous and blessed day.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid

FLOOFY CAT BELLY ART

Missing Friday Post

Before I show off today’s floofy cat belly art, I am wondering: Did you miss us yesterday? Probably not, but I’ll explain anyway. The server at my hosting company went down Thursday afternoon, and I was unable to get into my site until yesterday around lunchtime. That means if you tried to visit during that time, you were unable to do so. I did have a pretty cute poem, which included Sawyer, for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. If you’d like to see it, you can find the link at the bottom of this page.

Caturday Art

One of my recent on ongoing tasks is cleaning up my web-site, which includes adding missing SEO and Alt photo tags as well as internal links to new and old posts. The biggest task is getting rid of broken links. While working on the broken links, I found an adorable photo of Giulietta from 2015 in the post, “Help…I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up!” I knew the moment I saw the photo that I would use it for today’s Caturday Art. It shows Giulietta at her absolute floofiest!

I actually ended up creating two arty images. I could not decide which I liked best, and so I am sharing both. Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite.

As there are two pieces of floofy cat belly art, I made two puzzles for you.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Wow, tomorrow is already Easter Sunday. I have a couple of contenders vying for the opportunity to be your host! Yes, I know that’s a shock. Kitties Blue are known for their aversion to taking selfies, but once in a while Dad Tom or I catch one of them off guard and convince them to snap a photo. This week we caught more than one, so you will have to stop in tomorrow to see who is here. I know they won’t be dressing up, but I will spruce up their selfie with some Easter decorations. I invite you to do the same with your selfie if you’d like.

So, we look forward to seeing lots of participants tomorrow. Until then…have a happy Caturday.

BLENDED FAMILY POETRY & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday, and that means it is time to write some poetry. I am continuing with my theme of adding a cat to the inspiration photo provided by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats). This week, Sawyer has the honor of joining the photo and the poem.

Photo of a blended family: three dogs and a cat riding in a car.

The Blended Family

We cannot wait to get to the park,
So we can chase Sawyer and bark.
He doesn’t really mind the pursuit.
In fact he thinks it’s quite a hoot!
He runs up trees and taunts us.
To some our game is ludicrous,
But it’s the way we get our exercise.
It’s also fun to shock and surprise
The other occupants of the park,
Especially when we leave together at dark.
We know that this is an anomaly.
But we are a happy, blended family.

If you’d like to write or read some poetry, click on Angel Sammy’s poetry badge. You’ll be transported over to Two Spoiled Cats where you will find Angel Sammy’s poem for this week and next week’s inspiration photo. Please read Sammy’s poem when you visit. He’s a masterful poet.

Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday we also join the Thankful Thursday blog hop at Brian’s Home. This week I get the first thankful. I was the First Right Guesser on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats and won this cool badge.

I am also thankful spring has finally arrived, and the trees and flowers are in bloom. It definitely elevates my mood. I shared a photo on Monday from one of our flower beds. If you missed that post and are still waiting for spring to arrive where you live, check out “Spark of Love Among the Tulips.”

As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for each of you who visit our blog and support us. Your friendship warms our hearts.

You can join the Thankful Thursday hop by entering the URL on Brian’s badge into your browser.

Apologies

Kitties Blue and I would like to extend our apologies for our lack of visiting and commenting. If you saw yesterday’s post, then you know that Kizmet basically has taken over my iPad. And Astrid has decided that if the computer comes out, it is her cue to sit on me and the keyboard. She never lets me use the iPad either. If she is around, I have to hold it above my head at arms length just to look at it. As the weather continues to improve, I’m praying all the Kitties Blue will start spending more time on the catio, which will give me the opportunity to read your blogs.

Thanks for your understanding.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CXXX

Disneyland Paris

Stinky hops from paw to paw as he awaits Periwinkle’s arrival. He has asked her to get to his house early, as they have a full day of adventure ahead of them. Right on time, he hears that familiar whoosh, and Periwinkle comes tumbling out of the teleportation tunnel into his waiting paws. After a few paw hugs and whisker kisses, Stinky grabs her paw and pulls her back into the tunnel.

Disneyland Paris

When they emerge, Periwinkle’s head is spinning. As she tries to catch her breath, Stinky says, “Welcome to Disneyland Paris! This day 30 years ago, Disneyland Paris opened as Euro Disney, and I thought it would be fun to celebrate that anniversary.”

Periwinkle doesn’t really hear everything he says, as she gets stuck on the word Paris, and she replies with a question, “Paris, we are in Paris? My angel sisfur, Allie, told me about her trip to Paris with Mau and how wonderful it was!”

”I hope you won’t be disappointed, but we are actually about 23 miles from Paris, and we won’t be going there today,” Stinky tells her.

Periwinkle looks disappointed but tells Stinky, “You know, I am happy as long as I am with you.”

Stinky takes her paw again and tells her he’s always happy when they are together. He also tells her they need to get going as they have lots to see. But first they need to make a quick stop and get in character for the day.

Donning Mouse Ears

“These ears are really cool, but they sure are huge. I hope I don’t fall over,” says Periwinkle.

“Don’t worry I’m right here to catch you if you start to wobble,” Stinky tells her.

“Don’t you think it’s silly that cats are wearing mouse ears?” asks Periwinkle.

“It is pretty funny,” says Stinky. “Do you remember when I dressed up as a mouse?” Stinky asks Periwinkle.

“Oh I do. You were adorable! But if anybody missed it, they can see your photo on the post, ‘Simply Irresistible.’ And they can take it from me that you were.” Stinky blushes, but Periwinkle doesn’t notice and continues, “Wow, Stinky, this place is huge. We’ll never be able to see everything, so can we please start at the castle? That’s always the centerpiece of the Disney Parks.”

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Stinky agrees and tells Periwinkle a little about the castle as they walk there. “This is the French Sleeping Beauty Castle, or Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant, as it’s officially called. It is 167 feet tall. It’s been recently restored and is home to a large sleeping dragon that occasionally awakens, puffs smoke and roars.”

“I sure hope that doesn’t happen while we are here,” Periwinkle tells him.

“This is gorgeous. It sure would be fun to live here,” Periwinkle gushes. She continues, “I could be Sleeping Beauty and you could wake me with a whisker kiss.”

Stinky giggles, blushes again and gives her a whisker kiss.

Attractions

Then the tabbies scamper off to look around and try out some rides. There is way too much for them to see in one visit, so they pick a few things to do.

They decide to start at The Land of Fairy Tales (Le Pays des Contes de Fées) and hop on one of the boats. Mid-way through the ride, they hop off.

Cartoon tabby cats, Periwinkle & Stinky in the Land of Fairy tells with a minature castle and village.

“Stinky, this is so cute and just our size.” After wandering around, the tabbies hop back on a boat and finish the ride. From there they continue to several others.

They ride the Orbitron®, a Leonardo Da Vinci attraction. Next the tabbies visit the haunted house, Phantom Manor, but Periwinkle claims it too scary to go in. Next they head to the Indiana Jones Temple of Peril. Instead of getting on the ride, Stinky suggests they climb around the sight. Periwinkle knows how much Stinky enjoys climbing on things and agrees.

Stinky and Periwinkle continue on to Alice’s Curious Labyrinth where they spy a huge Cheshire Cat on the hillside.

The tabbies spend a little time wandering through the Labyrinth. As they are departing it, Stinky tells Periwinkle it is also time for the parade and show, “Dream… and Shine Brighter!” He explains that it’s a new show featuring more than 30 Disney characters clothed in new anniversary costumes, and they don’t want to miss it. Periwinkle tells Stinky that it sounds like fun, but she is starving. Stinky says that he’s hungry too, and they can stop at a snack bar and pick up something to eat as they walk.

They stop at the Cookie Kitchen on Main Street. Each select a different cookie and eat them as they find a good place to watch the parade. When the parade starts, the tabbies are excited to see so many Disney characters, hear 17 great Disney songs and watch all the dancers perform.

Meeting Minnie & Mickey

At the end of the stage performances, Micky and Minnie notice the tabbies in the crowd and invite them on stage for a photo op.

Cartoon tabby cats, Periwinkle & Stinky are on stage with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and other Disney characters.

Periwinkle and Stinky are so surprised and excited, they are both speechless. After the photo Mickey helps them down from the stage. The tabbies are tired and realize it is about time to head home even though they have only seen a very small number of the attractions. But they both agree before heading back to their tunnel. they would like to take a few more photos. The first is with the large 30th anniversary sign.

Before heading to their teleportation tunnel for the trip home, they take time for a final photo op with Disney characters.

Saying Good-Bye

“I am going to set the coordinates in the teleportation tunnel to drop you off at your house, Periwinkle, and then reset for my house. It has been such a long day, and I don’t want to make it longer for you.”

“Thanks, Stinky, I really am exhausted. I wish we could have seen more of the Park, but maybe we can come back in the future.” Stinky assures her that they can. Before entering the teleportation tunnel Periwinkle & Stinky share lots of whisker kisses and paw hugs, and Periwinkle thanks Stinky for a fun adventure.

Periwinkle and Stinky join paws, enter the teleportation tunnel, and in a whoosh they are on their way home.

The End

SPARK OF LOVE AMONG THE TULIPS

Sparks

I knew what I wanted my Spark to say this week, but was unable to find a representative quote after an extensive search. So, I wrote my own Spark and added it to this stunning photo taken by Dad Tom.

Pink tulips with a memorial plaque and quote about love never dying.

I don’t believe this Spark needs any explanation.

The photo was taken in one of our flower beds near Angel Mau’s grave.

The stone was a gift from Lisbeth’s boyfriend, Angel Charles’ mom, Inge. I shared a previous post about it, “A Plaque for Mau & Allie.” If you missed that post and would like to read it, click on the link.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

I needed a photo of one of the Kitties Blue for the Awww Mondays blog hop. With Easter coming up, I couldn’t think of anything absolutely more awwwdorable than this photo of Mau in his Easter bonnet. It is from the post, “Happiness Challenge X Eight,” in which I shared cute photos the the eight Kitties Blue residing with us at that time.

In 2014, prior to sharing the original photo, I turned it into art for the post, “Caturday Art: Happy Easter from Mauricio.” I made a puzzle of the arty photo for you.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Our fun loving tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, will be enjoying their next adventure tomorrow right here at The Cat on My Head. These two youngsters have lots of fun when they are together and love taking you along with them. So please plan to join them tomorrow!

LISBETH’S FISH BED SELFIE & REMEMBERING SAMMY

Sunday Selfies: Week #399

I am sharing a selfie I snapped while resting in the fish bed my boyfriend, Angel Charles, gave me for my birthday in 2018. I still like to sleep in it, as it reminds me of him. I miss my Angel Charles everyday.

Tuxedo cat in a fish bed with polka dots.

I really hope you’ll hop with me today. But if you can’t, you can still join me through Thursday. I’m keeping this short today, as this post is not about me. I am just your host. I am going to let my mom take over now.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth

Remembering Angel Sammy

This past Monday a dear friend, Sammy from 15 And Meowing, was helped to the Bridge by his human parents, Ellen and David.

Orange and white cat dressed as Cat Scout and in bunny ears.

I promised a more formal portrait of him today, and what could be more formal than his official Cat Scout portrait. But to accompany that, I could not resist another photo of Sammy in bunny ears. The second photo is from one of the annual tryouts he and his fursibs have to be the Cadbury Bunny.

This cutie didn’t only wear bunny ears but enjoyed dressing up in hats and all types of clothing. He was such a good sport and always looked adorable.

Sammy was a great Cat Scout with his own crafting group at Scouts. He and Mom Ellen have been teaching Scouts to create all kinds of decorative items each month.

Sammy also enjoyed joining Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) on Saturday to do some cooking and baking with bacon. His favorite food however, was corn on the cob!

Sammy was his mom’s soulmate and loved by so many friends. We’ll never forget him or the joy he brought to us.

Ellen will be back with a post today, so if you have not had the opportunity to leave your condolences for the Pilch family, click on the link above Sammy’s photos.

Thanks for joining us today. We appreciate your support and friendship.

ABSTRACT GINGER TABBY WITH STARS

Caturday Art

I created today’s art using an old photo of our handsome, ginger tabby, Cooper Murphy, from January 2021. I shared the original on a Wordless Wednesday in a post entitled, “Gingery Goodness Tummy, Toesies & Tailio.” If you are interested in seeing the original photo, click on the link.

Here is the arty version produced by using Painnt, piZap and favpng.

Sleeping ginger tabby cat as abstract art in purples and reds with purple star border.

The effect in Painnt was strangely named 🍷🎸 💜.  To that I added the Abstract filter from piZap and the purple stars are from favpng.

And, of course, I made a puzzle for you.

Cooper Murphy will be participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can do the same or just stop in to see the art of your fellow bloggers, by clicking on her badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Another week has flown past making it time for our selfies blog hop tomorrow. I find it mind boggling that tomorrow will be one hop short of 400. That’s right, this Sunday marks the 399th Sunday Selfie post. That is 7.67 years of posting selfies. Since then we’ve lost some Kitties Blue and added some Kitties Blue. And many of you have either lost or added furkids to your home. If nothing else, these selfies give us insight into how our kids have changed. All of us here at The Cat on My Head hope you’ll continue with this Sunday tradition and join us tomorrow.

As many of you know a dear friend was helped to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this week. Sammy Pilch from 15 and Meowing received his angel wings. As we try to do with most of our friends who “fly away,” we will honor Angel Sammy tomorrow. Even if you don’t plan to hop, please join us as we remember this special cat.

With Easter being just a week away, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos of Sammy. (We’ll have a more formal portrait tomorrow.)

If you have not had the opportunity to leave your condolences for Sammy’s human parents, Ellen and David, you can do so by clicking on the link above.

Hoping to see you tomorrow.

SNOOZY FELINE FRIDAY & FILL-INS

Feline/Friendship Friday

snoozy feline: grey Manx tabby cat asleep

Sawyer’s been napping a bit more lately, as he’s been eating his noms, which contain his meds. The phenobarbital and Keppra do make him sleepy. Dad Tom and I have no way of predicting when he will or won’t eat, and we often end up throwing out several bowls of food each day. So when he does decide to eat, we are thrilled, and we tell him what a good boy is!

Snoozy Sawyer is joining the blog hops at Comedy Plus (Feline Friday) and Create With Joy (Friendship Friday). You can do the same by clicking the links.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #306

I am overjoyed that both Misty May and Sawyer stepped up to help me with the fill-ins this week. My goal continues to be having Kitties Blue complete all the fill-ins each week. It’s not that I am lazy, but this desire goes along with me adding one or more of the gang to the Thoroughly Poetic Thursday inspiration photo. The intent is for this blog to be about the cats; and though, it is for the most part, I want to emphasize that as much as possible. (If you haven’t already, check out Lisbeth in yesterday’s inspiration photo and the accompanying poem, “Please Be My One & Only.”)

But without further ado or explanation, here are their completions and mine. All three of us used teal italics.

1. Misty May: I waste a lot of time whining and complaining.
2. Sawyer: At this very moment, I’m craving treats. (What a surprise!)
3. Don’t dismiss sharing your life with pets until you adopt one or more.
4. Living with cats makes life interesting.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They post the four sentences to be filled in on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the Fill-Ins badge.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll be back tomorrow with some Caturday Art.

BE MY ONE & ONLY

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday and time to join Two Spoiled Cats (Teddy and Angel Sammy) by writing a little poetry. I added Lisbeth to this week’s inspiration photo. I also flipped the photo horizontally, as it worked better for Lisbeth’s placement.
one & only: young girl in field with her pony, a tuxedo cat and another horse

My poem is written from Lisbeth’s perspective.

Please Be My One & Only

Do you love your pony more than me?
Because that’s exactly what I see.
I want to be your one and only,
But I can’t seem to compete with that pony.

No pony could love you more than I do,
And he can’t climb in bed and sleep with you.
I protect you from monsters all through the night,
As I lie real close and never let you out of my sight.

Don’t get me wrong, I too like your pony friend,
Especially when he gives me rides to pasture’s end.
He’s never once tried to throw me to the ground
Or complained about my sometimes caterwauling sounds.

I just want you to hug me around the neck
And sometimes give my head a little pet.
Yes, I’m jealous and embarrassed to admit it,
But I need some love…even if just a little bit.

I promise to be your true and faithful friend
And love you until my life comes to an end.
So please will you reciprocate…
Let me be your one true love and soulmate.
