HOORAY FOR WARM LAPS & HEATED FLOORS

Thankful Thursday

Last week, I reported that Dad Tom had been exposed to COVID and was waiting to take a test. He did that last Friday, and tested negative.

Kitties Blue are thankful for warm laps during these cold and snowy winter days. Misty May and Kizmet like Dad Tom’s lap. Astrid prefers my lap unless she’s in the kitchen and then she’ll settle in with her dad.

The kitties as well as Dad Tom and I are thankful to have a new thermostat for the heated bathroom floor. It has been out for a couple of weeks. With the bathroom above the unheated garage, the floor has been 20 degrees colder than usual. It is a favorite napping place for the furries, so they are especially delighted to have the heat back.

And, as always, Kitties Blue and I are grateful for your support and friendship.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. If you would like to participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on the badge below.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

In addition to being thankful on Thursday, I try to participate in the Two Spoiled Cats’ (Angel Sammy and Teddy) poetry challenge. I am enamored with this week’s inspiration photo. It is perfect as is, so I didn’t want to spoil it with too many words.

True love knows no age
And this dance needs no stage
Just a recalled tune

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CXVIII

The Elmwood Park Art Walk

Stinky is super anxious for Periwinkle to arrive. Though they are having their adventure a few days early, due to an impending snowstorm, they will be sharing their adventure today as usual. Travel with the teleportation tunnel in bad weather is not a problem, but snow would ruin Stinky’s plans.

Periwinkle tumbles out of the tunnel with the familiar whoosh and immediately grabs Stinky in a huge paw hug. Then she starts talking a mile a minute: “I am so happy to see you. Are you feeling okay? You have been having too many seizures. I worry about you.”

“I’m fine. I have been eating very well and getting my meds, so we don’t know why I have had an increase in seizures, but I am A-OK today and ready for some fun.”

“Me too,” says Periwinkle. “What’s the plan for today?”

“We are going back to the park where we went ice skating, but I have a different plan for us today,” Stinky tells her. He takes her paw and leads her back into the tunnel.

Moments later they arrive at their destination. Periwinkle looks around with an expression of confusion. “What are we going to do here?” she asks.

Stinky explains that they are in The Elmwood Park Art Walk outside the downtown public library.

“Our adventure is looking at art,” says Periwinkle with a look of disappointment.

Climbing the Sculptures

“Well yes, we are going to look at,” says Stinky with a chuckle. He continues, “But only to figure out the best way to climb it.”

“Now that sounds like fun, as long as we don’t get in trouble. I know how much you like to climb. Where do we start?”

“Anywhere you like,” replies Stinky. “And I don’t think we will get in trouble. Everyone loves cute kitties. And I think our presence will enhance these works of art.”

Periwinkle rolls her eyes at Stinky but she looks around, grabs Stinky’s paw and leads him to the closest sculpture.

“Some of these are really hard to climb,” Periwinkle tells Stinky. “I guess we’ll have to help each other.” They do just that and climb each one giggling as they go.

Stinky tells Periwinkle that the sculpture with the white kites is made from plastic bags and the man with all the writing was created by someone his mom knows.

As they climb the final sculpture, Stinky explains that the sculptures are created by different people around the country and are not permanent. The ones they climbed today will be replaced in the future, and they can come back and climb those.

“Did you have a favorite sculpture, Periwinkle?”

“Oh yes, the last one with the star and wings. How about you, Stinky. Did you have a favorite?”

“Yes, the giant flower; though, it was the hardest to climb.”

“It will be fun to come back to see and climb on different sculptures, Stinky,” says Periwinkle.”But next time we might need to bring your mom or dad so they can boost us when we need help. Climbing the sculptures was fun, but I am exhausted. Can we go back to your house for a snack?”

YouTube Video

“Of course, but first I want to post a video from YouTube that will give our readers more information about the Art Walk and sculptures. They’ll even find out about our favorites.”

“That’s great Stinky. Very thoughtful.”

Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her back to their teleportation tunnel. Moments after entering, they arrive back at Stinky’s house. Stinky’s mom has warm beverages, Fancy Feast and treats ready for them. As they eat, they visit with Stinky’s fursibs and parents.

When they finish eating, the two tired tabbies curl up together for a nap. When they awake it is time for Periwinkle to return home. The two share lots of whisker kisses and paw hugs before Periwinkle enters the tunnel. With a final wave and a whoosh she is gone. Stinky returns to his nap to dream about their fun adventure and his beautiful girlfriend.

AN AWWW, A SPARK & A CHALLENGE

Awww Mondays

kizmet

Kizmet is a huge fan of TV. She usually prefers sporting events, but in this case she was watching the news.

Kizmet is joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus.

Sparks

It snowed/sleeted/snowed yesterday, which prompted me to find a Spark which mentioned snow that was also meaningful. I liked this one by Samuel Coleridge. The photo is one of Dad Tom’s.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Betty White Challenge

Today is actress Betty White’s birthday She would have turned 100 had she not passed away in her sleep on December 31. She was a huge animal lover and supporter of nonprofit organizations benefiting animals. In her memory, please select a local animal shelter or rescue and make a donation of at least $5 in her name. We will be donating to Barn Cat Buddies, the rescue from which we adopted Astrid and Calista Jo.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is our favorite day of the week, as it’s when Periwinkle and Stinky share an adventure. Stinky has planned another exciting, local activity, and he would be delighted if you join Periwinkle and him. These two tabbies have lots of fun when they are together and love sharing their adventures with all of you.

POST-SEIZURE SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #387

I wanted to call this post, “My Mom Sucks!” You see, I didn’t actually take these selfies. My mom took them yesterday without my knowledge, which I think is an invasion of my privacy.

post-seizure selfies

I cannot tell you anything about my photos as I was totally out, even in the photo with my eyes partially open. And I never remember what’s happened afterwards. So, I am now turning this over to all of you to link up your selfie. Please don’t let me down.

Even though I am mad at Mom, she says I need to thank you for coming by and supporting us and being our friends. That means everything to us and is what keeps us doing this hop and our other posts. So, “Thank you, dear friends.”

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer

We know all your other friends will be stopping by to see you as well. If you cannot join the hop tomorrow, that’s not a problem. It remains open through Thursday.

KITTIES BLUE COME TO MOM’S RESCUE

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #294

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They provide the four sentences with blanks for your responses. Often I have difficulty completing the fill-ins and need to ask for a little help from Kitties Blue. This week I had to pass off three of the four sentences. Thankfully, Sawyer and Astrid came to my rescue and helped me out. We all used teal italics to fill in.

1. When I run out of an idea for a response for a fill-in, I use a response from one of the Kitties Blue as a substitute.

2. Sawyer: I don’t understand why I can’t have all the treats I want.

3. Sawyer: Anytime is the best time to put on my “I want treats” expression.

4. Astrid: It seems like I’m the only one who is afraid of Misty May.

If you’d like to participate, click on the Friendly Fill-Ins badge to join the hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday on Friday

Though, I didn’t write a poem yesterday; I didn’t want to miss out on writing about this week’s super fun inspiration photo.

The Rule Breakers

These old friends from high school think they’re cool,
As they still continue to break the rules.
They often gossip about their peers
And at young people sometimes jeer.
If you meet them individually,
Each is as kind and caring as can be.
But in a group they like to poke fun,
And if confronted they’re prepared to run;
Though, at their age it won’t be too quick,
Which is why they each carry a stick
To fend off those who would disagree
And try to chase them when they flee.
Whatever happens, they won’t be deterred.
This is the most fun they’ve had in years!

COOPER MURPHY IS THANKFUL

Thankful Thursday

We haven’t had a terrific week. Dad Tom was exposed to COVID on Sunday. He isn’t sick but has to wait until Friday to take a test. We do have a couple here at home, so at least he won’t have to wait in line somewhere to get it.

Last Thursday we reported that Sawyer had a seizure after more than a five-week respite. Unfortunately he had another just five days later.

Regardless, we do have a couple of thankfuls.

I was one of five who were first through the school room door for the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. Unfortunately I did not guess the locale correctly.

Cooper Murphy has the other thankfuls for the week. He received this super Gotcha Day card from his girlfriend Tyebe (Canadian Cats).

Cooper Murphy and Tyebe

If you are wondering why the card says Snap, it is because that’s Tyebe’s nickname for Cooper (as in Gingersnap). His pet name for her is Crackle.

Cooper also is thankful I did not kiss him yesterday for Kiss A Ginger Day. I did try, but he pulled away, as he always does. Most of the other Kitties Blue enjoy getting kisses. Kizmet particularly enjoys giving them.

As always we are thankful for your support and friendship.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on the Thankful Thursday badge to link up.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today is also poetry day over at Two Spoiled Cats. The inspiration photo is really a fun one, but I was busy all day and didn’t get the opportunity to write a poem. So, I will include it tomorrow along with our Friendly Fill-Ins. Hope to see you then.

PERSEVERANCE PAYS OFF

Sparks

PERSEVERANCE PAYS OFF

When I needed to find a Spark for today’s post, the word perseverance popped into my head. First I found the quote by famous soccer star, Pele, and then one of Dad Tom’s photos of an industrious squirrel. I am certain it’s not enjoying what it’s doing, but the squirrel definitely is persevering.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is our favorite day of the week, as it’s when Periwinkle and Stinky share an adventure. It’s Periwinkle’s turn to plan the event, so you’ll want to check out Friends Furever tomorrow to find out what our tabbies get up to. These two youngsters have lots of fun when they are together and love sharing their adventures with all of you.
