SAWYER/STINKY TAKEOVER FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #292

takeover fill-ins

Sawyer/Stinky volunteered to do the final fill-ins of 2021. I am grateful, as I was having difficulty figuring out how I was going to fill in the blanks. Sawyer did the first three and Stinky the final fill-in. They both used teal italics.

1. I had hoped to stop having seizures in 2021 but didn’t.

2. A goal I have for 2022 is to have fewer seizures.

3. I’ll be 4 1/2 years old when 2021 ends.

4. I hope 2022 brings me lots of wonderful adventures with my girlfriend Periwinkle.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). You can find the sentences to fill in on both blogs on Thursdays. To join the hop, click on the badge.

Feline/Friendship Friday

A person cannot sit or lie down at our house without being surrounded by or covered in cats or both.

Three of the Kitties Blue gang, Cooper Murphy, Misty May and Astrid, and I are participating in the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop Create With Joy.

We’ll see you tomorrow for some Caturday Art on the first day of 2022.

TUESDAY TEASER DOUBLE WIN

Thankful Thursday

Each Thursday Kitties Blue and I list the things for which we are thankful. This week, Sawyer is up first with great news. His last seizure was more than four weeks ago. He’s been better about eating his noms, which means he is getting his meds. Dad Tom and I pray he keeps up this good behavior.

On Tuesday, I try to participate in the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. It seems everyone slept in this week, and I was the only First Commenter. And then…wait for it…I was also the First Right Guesser. I have been fortunate to accomplish this on only a couple of other occasions. So the professors’ (Angel Sammy and Teddy) mom, Pam, made me this special double winner badge. And that is my thankful.

double win

Hip Hip Hooray for ME! I not only was FIRST COMMENTER on the Teaser post of December 28, 2021 but I was also the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER……..WOW!!

Actually I do have another thankful, which is related to Christmas. On Christmas Day Dad Tom and I did a “Go To Meeting” (like Zoom) with his family. It was the first time we had seen most of them since last Christmas.

Kitties Blue are thankful for all the Christmas cards from their blogging friends, and Cooper Murphy is thankful for the Christmas cards from his Cat Scout friends.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge to link up.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I had big plans for my poem after seeing this week’s inspiration photo selected by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. Here’s that photo.

After writing four lines, however, I felt I’d said what I wanted. What do you think?

Buyer Beware

I always wanted a house by the sea.
I bought this place sight unseen,
And found I had a house in the sea.
It seems the seller has made a fool of me!

To participate in the weekly poetry challenge, check out Two Spoiled Cats today for next week’s inspiration photo. You can get their by clicking on the poetry badge. While visiting, you must read Angel Teddy’s poem. He is a masterful wordsmith, and I guarantee you will enjoy it.

Kitties Blue and I will be back tomorrow with some Fill-ins.

LAST SELFIE OF 2021

Sunday Selfies: Week #384

last selfie of 2021

Did everyone have a good Christmas? I sure hope so. I know we did at my house, except that Mom said we received way too many cat toys. She even hid some to give us later. She claims that she also hid them to hand out when Kizmet is otherwise occupied. You see, Kizmet thinks everything belongs to her. As Seville would say, “Mouses!”

In all honesty, I took my selfie while I was trying out Sawyer’s new bed, which was a gift from his girlfriend Noelle.  I guess I am no better than Kizmet. Please don’t tell Sawyer. Okay? It sure is soft and comfy.

But I did get my own gifts from my boyfriend’s (Angel Charles) mom. She is always so good to us. I will share about that later in the week.

Anyhoo, I hope you like my selfie. I also hope you took a selfie and plan to join the hop. It is the last one of 2021! If you and your humans are still celebrating the holiday, you don’t have to join today. The hop is open through Thursday.

Before I go, on behalf of myself, all the other Kitties Blue and our mom, I’d like to thank everyone who has joined our hop at any time in past 383 weeks. Thank you also for supporting, following and befriending us. We are some very lucky kitties, as is our mom.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth

KITTIES BLUE 2021 CHRISTMAS CARD

Caturday Art

Today we are using our Christmas Card for our Caturday Art. Many of you will have already received this in the mail. Others of you can expect to receive one in the mail soon. Those of you who live outside the United States will probably not receive your cards until the new year, as our mom just mailed them this past Tuesday. Of course, there are many of you for whom we do not have physical addresses. Whatever category you fall into, please take a copy of our card from here if you’d like.

Kitties Blue Christmas

As an extra little gift, Mom made a puzzle of our card as well.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

If you can find time today during your Christmas celebrations, we hope you will take a moment to snap a selfie for tomorrow’s blog hop. If you cannot, don’t worry. You can join the hop anytime through Thursday.

We have no idea who will be hosting tomorrow, but we all look forward to seeing you.

Until then…Merry Christmas to all from Kitties Blue!

KIZMET THINKS SHE’S SANTA

Sorry for the late post. Christmas preparations got in the way.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #291

As we do most weeks, Kitties Blue and I are joining the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Today I completed all the fill-ins with no help from the furballs (except for some inspiration). My fill-ins are in teal italics

1. That you remain healthy is my Christmas wish for you.

2. I still need to wrap the gifts I have not already given to Dad Tom by Christmas.

3. ‘Twas the night before Christmas and hurricane Kizmet is trying to destroy her new house by entering through the chimney—like Santa.

KIZMET SANTA

4. If I were Santa, I would want someone to leave me a plate full of apricot pie, from which the calories had been removed on Christmas Eve.

If you’d like to join in this fun hop, check out either Ellen or Lorianne’s blog on Thursday. You’ll find the sentences to be completed on both. To join today’s hop, click on the badge.

Feline/Friendship Friday

After some fierce combat consisting of whacky paws through the windows of the new house, Misty May and Calista Jo needed naps.

Our two snoozing beauties are joining the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy. You can join them at either or both by clicking the links.

We will see you tomorrow for Caturday Art which will be the Kitties Blue 2021 Christmas Card.

GOTCHA GIFT & GIVEAWAY WINNER

Thankful Thursday

It is with pleasure each week that Kitties Blue and I reflect on those things for which we are thankful. Kizmet is first up this week. She is thankful for her Gotcha Day gift; though, she has already tried to disassemble it.

gotcha gift

Sawyer is thankful for being seizure free for three-and-a-half weeks. Dad Tom and I are, of course, totally grateful for this as well.

I am thankful that I have the Christmas preparations fairly well under control. I only have a few more cards to write for Kitties Blue, Dad Tom’s and my annual newsletter to complete and some additional cookies to bake for neighbors. That may sound like a lot, but I can finish that all today.

Kitties Blue and I are thankful as always for all our friends, followers and supporters. We apologize that we haven’t been around to visit much lately, but that’s why I have, for probably the first time ever, Christmas prep under control. Hope you all understand.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then link up over at Brian’s blog by clicking on his badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Poetry challenge day has rolled around again. Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy, provided the following photo as this week’s inspiration. My poem follows it.

The Face of Disappointment

My pouting face says it all.
The gift in this box is a total fail.
I asked for a Barbie and video game.
What’s in this box is just a shame.
Socks and underwear are not a gift,
And I am completely miffed.
My parents have totally let me down
and left me with this horrible frown.
Santa better do a much better job,
Or I promise I am going to sob,
Declare this the worst Christmas ever
And write Santa an un-thank-you letter.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 12/22/2021

As a child when I pouted my mother would always tell me if I didn’t stop, my face would freeze that way. This little girl’s parents probably told her the same thing.

Anyhoo, if you’d like to try writing some poetry, check out Two Spoiled Cats (by clicking on their badge) each Thursday for the next week’s inspiration photo. And don’t forget to read Angel Sammy’s poem while visiting. He is an exceptionally talented poet.

Calendar Winner

We are delighted to announce the winner of the Superhero Sidekick Calendar from the Helen Woodward Animal Center featuring Kizmet as Miss August. We used the sequence generator at Random.org to determine the winner, which is the ninth commenter on our Sunday Selfies post. That cat and his person are: our dear friend, Teddy and his mom, Pam Kimmell. Congratulations! Kizmet hopes you enjoy your prize.

We’ll be back tomorrow with some fill-ins and Feline Friday.

SOME CHRISTMAS FLASHBACKS

A Very, Very Wordy Wednesday

With just a few days remaining until Christmas, Kitties Blue asked if they could share some entries from Christmas’ past.

Kitties Christmas Wish List

Santa has his list and he’s checking it twice.
We’re certain he’ll find we have all been nice,
And he’ll fill up our stockings with lots of treats
And maybe some cans of Friskies and Fancy Feast!
We also hope the elves are making us some toys.
Cats like fun things too—just like girls and boys.
We’d also like to find some nip in our stockings,
So that after feasting we can do some frolicking.
Santa, please also bring our friends some goodies
Especially if you want us to leave you milk and cookies!
Remember that Christmas is just two weeks away,
So, Santa, please get busy filling up your sleigh!

A Cat’s Letter to Santa Claws

CatXMASTree.gif

Oh dearest Santa, I promise I’ve been good.
Always used my litter box and eaten all my food.
That broken lamp was a minor transgression.
I don’t think it required that time-out session.
And it wasn’t I who shred the arm of that chair.
Besides, isn’t that why they come as a pair?
The hairball on the human’s pillow didn’t come from me.
I don’t have floofy furs, as you can plainly see.
And all that litter spread throughout the house hither to yon…
It sprang right out of the box long after I had gone.
And you know that sandwich the human left on the table…
I swear it was stolen by a stray mouse named Mabel.
And the Christmas tree that suddenly toppled over…
Was not pushed by me but a marauding gopher.
I have no idea how these critters invaded my space.
I never leave the cat door open or out of place.
Oh. dearest Santa, I’ve truly never ever been naughty.
So please bring me some toys from Jackson Galaxy.
And a big bag of nip to last a whole year…
Please, oh please, oh please Santa dear.
And some nommy treats would be totally pawsome.
I’d eat every one and not leave a crumb.
For I, the cat, have been as good as a cat can be.
So please don’t pass me by this Christmas Eve.
If you’ll stop by my house once again this year,
I promise to leave cookies and a bit of good cheer beer.
And, as to next year, I raise my right paw
And promise to be a good cat, oh dear Santa Claws.

Yours truly, The Cat 🐾

And a Photo to End

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART CXIV

A Holiday Adventure

Stinky is extra excited for Periwinkle’s arrival for this week’s adventure. It is the second consecutive week they are having a night time adventure. He is waiting to catch her when he hears that familiar whoosh of the teleportation tunnel. She tumbles out right into his waiting paws, and they share lots of hugs and whisker kisses. After just a few minutes, Stinky’s parents gather up the tabbies and take them to the car. “Where are we going Stinky? “ asks Periwinkle.

“It’s a surprise. It is where I wanted to take you two weeks ago, but I am happy we waited. I think it will be more special for us and our readers.”

The tabbies chatter about what they’ve been doing the past week on what seems like a never-ending car trip. Finally they arrive at their destination, and Stinky’s mom and dad pick them up to carry them to the entrance.

Illuminights

Illuminights

“Oh, Stinky, what is this?”

“It is Explore Park’s Illuminights Winter Walk of Lights—a half-mile wooded path with 600,000 lights in various displays.  It’s sponsored by local businesses & individuals donors,” Stinky explains.

Dad Tom and Mom Janet tell Periwinkle and Stinky that they are free to explore on their own and give them a time to meet at the end of the light display. That’s all the tabbies need to hear to scamper off to explore. What they don’t know is that Dad Tom plans to follow them to snap some photos.

Viewing the Displays

“Periwinkle, let’s check out these turtles.”

“Stinky, I think maybe we shouldn’t climb on the displays.”

Stinky just rolls his eyes at her. Periwinkle giggles and scampers to the other turtle and jumps up on it.

“I heard turtles are slow, Stinky, but this is ridiculous,” says Periwinkle as she giggles.

“Good one, Periwinkle,” says Stinky between laughs.

The tabbies hop down and find a display with a cyclist, which Periwinkle immediately jumps onto. “Stinky, do you remember when we got on those bicycle sculptures at the zoo?”

“Sure, that was a cool adventure. Come on Periwinkle, there’s lots more to see.”

Next they discover a huge polar bear with a fish in it’s mouth, and this time Stinky climbs up onto it and tells Periwinkle he’s seen a photo of his mom with this same sculpture from a previous Illuminights.

“Stinky, come look at this little house. It is just our size,” Periwinkle calls out.

Next they see a sleigh with reindeer, including Rudolph, and decide they must hop on.

“Come on, Periwinkle, let’s see what else we can find,” Stinky tells her.

When they get to the next display, Periwinkle tells Stinky how happy she is he told her to bring her warm coat. “It sure is a lot colder here than when we went to look at lights at my house,” says Periwinkle.

“Yes, sometimes our furs are just not enough when it gets cold.”

“Stinky, come see this cute family of snow people,” Periwinkle hollers as she runs ahead.

“Must be Frosty and his family,” says Stinky.

Looking around, Periwinkle notices some gold stars, and runs off to look at them.

“Do you remember when we went to the huge, neon Mill Mountain Star, Periwinkle?” asks Stinky.

“Oh yes, Stinky, and your city is known as the Star City of the South,” replies Periwinkle.

“You have a good memory, Periwinkle. Let’s check out some more of the displays.”

“Stinky, this is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I just wish our readers could see how all the lights are blinking and chasing.”

“Me too, Periwinkle. I also wish we could show them all the displays. I do hope they enjoy what we are sharing.”

“They will. I’m super cold, and I think we’ve seen everything. Can we go meet your parents now?” Periwinkle asks.

“Yes, let’s, I’m cold too.”

The tabbies track down Mom Janet and Dad Tom, and they all head to the car. Periwinkle and Stinky giggle and whisper about their adventure all the way back to Stinky’s house. They have no idea that Dad Tom has caught all their “misadventures” on film.

After some hot cocoa at home with Stinky’s fursibs, it is time for Periwinkle to head home. She and Stinky spend lots of times whisker kissing, paw hugging and wishing each other Merry Christmas. Then, with the usual whoosh and a final wave, Periwinkle is gone. It’s way past Stinky’s bed time, and he heads to bed to dream of his precious Periwinkle.

The End

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL FROM

IS GRUMPY MISTY MAY FUNNY?

Sparks

grumpy funny

As most of you know, Kitties Blue are not fond of wearing clothes. Misty May is old and getting pretty frail; though, so I thought we should get her something warm to wear when she goes out on the porch. As you can see, she was not fond of the idea. Her expression is what prompted me to select today’s Spark. Next time any of us are thinking about getting angry, maybe we should select grumpy instead.

The author of today’s Spark, Richard “Rick” Christopher Wakeman is a 72-year-old, English keyboardist. He is best known for being in the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004 and for his solo albums released in the 1970s.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow is our favorite day of the week, as it’s when Periwinkle and Stinky share an adventure. The two tabbies will be taking you on a very special Christmas adventure. These two fun-loving cats will be taking off from here, and they hope you’ll join them for some fun!
