INNER SPARKS OF POSSIBILITY

Sparks

Sparks

I had selected this photo, which Dad Tom took from our upper deck on Independence Day, and the quote from Golda Meir to post as our Spark a few weeks ago. But at the time, Sawyer was still on his unauthorized adventure, and it just didn’t feel right at the time.

I hope it speaks to you as it does to me, as a reminder to always strive to do your best.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

Today’s “awww” photo is the purrfect accompaniment for our Sparks post, as Cooper Murphy and Calista Jo sprung apart immediately after their noses touched as if shocked by a spark of electricity.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

It is time to join Stinky & Periwinkle again tomorrow for a new adventure. They will be sharing it with you over at Friends Furever, and they both have their paws crossed that you will join them for some fun. Please don’t disappoint them by missing out.

INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #364

International Cat Day Selfie

So…I am settling back into my normal routine here at home, as evidenced by the next photo.

International Cat Day Nap

Mom took this photo of me curled up against her leg shortly after I snapped my selfie. I have been snuggling with her every night and allowing head kisses. I am no longer angry with her, as long as she keeps her grabby hands off me.

Do you think Noelle will like my toe beans? I really hope she won’t mind that Cooper Murphy snagged my birthday gift blanket before I could. Needless to say, we all like it bunches!

Anyhoo, today is International Cat Day. It was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. The intent for the day is to raise awareness for cats and learn about ways to help and protect them. In 2020 custodianship of International Cat Day passed to International Cat Care, a not-for-profit British organization striving to improve the health and welfare of domestic cats worldwide since 1958.

Suggestions for participating in the festivities of the day include adopting/fostering a new kitty, feeding feral cats or spoiling those kitties living with you. That final suggestion is the one for which we are purraying! I think some extra treats are in order.

Hopping Time

Now for the fun part of your Sunday. Time for you to snap a selfie and share it with us and all your other friends and admirers. Then you can spend the remainder of your day enjoying a well-deserved easy and sunpuddle nap.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with whisker kisses for Noelle)

MANEKI-NEKO POM POM ART

Caturday Art

The current Olympics in Tokyo inspired today’s art. Japan always makes me think of the maneki-neko (beckoning cat). I have a small collection from Dad Tom’s many trips to Japan, which I shared in a post (The Beckoning Cat Maneki-Neko) in 2013. The photo from that post is the basis for my art.

maneki-neko

I selected the Starry Night effect from Painnt and a frame from Favpng to create this. I like how it looks like a collage made from the fuzzy pom poms used for craft projects.

This is my submission for the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can join in the fun by clicking on her badge.

If you do not know the history of the maneki-neko, click on the link in the first paragraph to read my original post.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Summer is speeding past at breakneck speed. Kids are already going back to school, and a new week begins again tomorrow. That means it’s time again for our Sunday Selfies blog hop. All the Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing your adorable faces, and I know your other friends are as well. So, please don’t forget to join us. You have through Thursday to hop!

See y’all tomorrow.

DANGLING & FILL-INS

 Feline/Friendship Friday

dangling & fill-ins

Calista Jo wanted to show y’all that she does a pretty good dangle! She intends to show it off on the Friday blog hops at Comedy Plus and Create with Joy as well. If you’d like to participate in one or both hops, click on the badge(s).

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #271

I’ve been hit and miss with completing fill-ins since mid-June. With some help from Stinky and Sawyer, however, I have them today. We all used teal italics for our completions. Any additional info is in parentheses.

1. Stinky: I am contemplating telling Periwinkle I love her. (Please don’t spill the beans. I want to surprise her!)

2. My cats are extremely spoiled. (As they should be!)

3. Sawyer: I can finish my treats in record time.

4. I miss the days when I had the energy to work outside in the garden for several hours at a time.

Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) select the sentences to be filled in and host the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop each Friday. The sentences to be completed can be found each Thursday on both blogs. To participate in the hop, click on the Fill-Ins badge.

WE COULDN’T HAVE HAD A MORE THANKFUL WEEK

Thankful Thursday

Again this week, Kitties Blue and I have a long list of thankfuls for Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.

Kizmet

Kizmet asked if she could go first, and I could not deny the baby of the family. Yesterday she received official notification from the Helen Woodward Animal Center that she finished eighth in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest. She will have her own page in the 2022 calendar. So many friends generously donated/voted in an attempt to keep her in a high position. On the last day, however, there were some new entries with huge donations. Her entry brought in $715 in donations for HWAC, which we are all thankful for and pleased about. We are proud of her eighth place finish.

Sawyer

Sawyer has been home just over two weeks, which elicits a huge thankful from all of us. Cooper Murphy is no longer hissing and growling at him. The biggest thankful with regard to Sawyer is that he continues to be good about eating and getting all his meds. He has not had a seizure since returning home. Yippee!

Sawyer is still catching up on the sleep he missed while away.

Stinky

Stinky has the next thankful. He and Periwinkle’s posts about their adventure at the Mill Mountain Zoo earned a Certificate of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association in the Short Story category. If you missed that two-part adventure, you can read Part 1 and Part 2 by clicking on the links.

Mom Janet

I have a couple of thankfuls this week. My review posts (Yaheetech Cat Tree and PetLibro Water Fountain) each received CWA Certificates of Excellence as well.

My final thankful is for something extremely rare. I was both a First Commenter (one of four) and the First Right Guesser on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I won this extra special badge.

Kitties Blue

Kitties Blue and I together have one final thankful. Back on July 21, we celebrated our Ninth Blogoversary. That is the same day Sawyer arrived home, so the blogoversary totally went unnoticed. Nonetheless, it happened, and we are all grateful we have stuck with this pursuit for that long, as we have made so many wonderful friends. We love and appreciate each one of you.

The crew and I are participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop. If you’d like to join us, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to be transported to the hop.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART XCIV

Breaking News

Periwinkle pops out of the teleportation tunnel, anxious to see Stinky and find out what he has planned for the day. He’d been waiting for that familiar whoosh from the tunnel, and he’s right there to meet Periwinkle with paw hugs and whisker kisses.

Before Periwinkle can say anything, Stinky twirls her around and asks, “Have you heard the wonderful news?”

“Of course, silly” she replies. “You are home and have been for almost two whole weeks.” Stinky agrees that is good news but tells Periwinkle he has newer good news.

“Well don’t keep me in suspense. Did you win the lottery? Are we going on an adventure in an exotic land?”

“Nope…we got another Certificate of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association for one of our adventure stories!”

“Woo-hoo! Which one?”

“It’s when we went to the Mill Mountain Zoo,” Stinky tells her. “Mom combined Parts 1 and 2 and entered it as a Short Story.”

“Oh, that was one of our very best adventures,” replies Periwinkle. “Let’s give everyone the links to those two posts in case they haven’t read them.”

“Good idea, Periwinkle.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Parts XXXVII & XXXVIII (A Trip to the Zoo Parts 1 and 2)

“When do we get our certificate, Stinky?”

“I don’t know. It will come in the mail with the two others my mom won for two of her product reviews.”

“We better think of some really great adventures for this upcoming year, so Mom Janet can enter them for us. Speaking of adventures, what have you planned for us today?”

“Well, it was your mom’s idea, so don’t blame me, but we aren’t going anywhere.”

“Phooey, is that because she thinks you’ll run away again?”

“No, she thought it would be fun if I told you and everyone else about the adventure I had after I escaped,“ Stinky tells her.

“I’ll admit I want to hear that.”

Where was Stinky?

“It was a super sunny, hot and humid day. I saw the door from the laundry room to the garage stairs was open just a bit behind my dad, who was standing on the stairs. Exploring the garage seemed as if it could be fun. I knew Kizmet had done it, so I sprinted down those stairs. When I got to the bottom, I discovered the overhead door was open, and I just decided to keep running. Mom said I took off down the alley like my butt was on fire. She came after me. I did look back at her once and gave her a cheeky little smile. My dad saw me once after that, and then Mom says it is as if I went “poof!”

“And that is exactly what happened. Something with wings and a big fuzzy paw quietly swooped down and plucked me out of the neighbor’s yard. It was so stealthy, neither Mom nor Dad heard or noticed anything. I had no idea what was happening and thought I might be having a seizure.”

“Wow, Stinky, were you frightened?”

“You bet.”

“So, what happened next?”

“We flew off to someplace that was really pretty with lots of pastel colors and clouds. The next thing I knew I saw Angel Mau and Angel Lily Olivia. They ran up and gave me big paw hugs and told me they had missed me and thought it would be fun to celebrate my birthday with me. They asked Kitties Blue #1, Skooter, to pick me up and bring me to a big party with all the past Kitties Blue. I didn’t recognize anyone, except Mau and Lily Olivia, but one by one the other Kitties Blue angels introduced themselves and gave me a huge paw hug.”

“Stinky, that is amazing. Did you meet all the angel Kitties Blue?”

“I did. There was Skooter, Steamer, Daphne, Thelma, Louise, Chloe, Twinkle, Madison, MacKenzie and Fiona. And, of course, your sisfur, Allie, was there as well.”

“That is really cool that they wanted to meet you and give you a party, but why were you gone for such a long time?”

“I had no idea it was that long. Time doesn’t exist where they are. Skooter explained that is so the anipals don’t get lonely and sad waiting for their humans to join them.”

“That sounds like a good thing, but does that mean you didn’t know your friends all around the world were praying for you, and your mom and dad were searching non-stop?”

“Not a clue.”

“Did you have any seizures while you were away?”

“Again…not a clue, as I never remember having one when it is over. But Angel Fiona told me that all the anipals there are healthy and well, so maybe I didn’t.”

“It sounds as if it was really nice there, so I certainly am happy you finally decided to come home.”

“They don’t have any need for food there; though, Mau managed to make me a birthday cake.”

“Anyhoo, I finally got way too hungry to stay any longer, and I asked Skooter to bring me home. Plus, of course, I was missing you big time. By the way, that was super nice of you to stay with my family and help them search for me. You are the best girlfriend ever.”

Periwinkle blushes and gives Stinky a whisker kiss. She then asks, “Why didn’t Skooter bring you back to your house?”

“Angels do not have GPS. He got a little confused as to where we were, and I couldn’t help him. Suddenly he said he recognized a house and set me down there. It was not until after he’d waved and flown away that I realized I had no idea where I was. I was in a panic and started looking around for my house. It was obvious to me that it wasn’t nearby, as I couldn’t smell any of my fursibs. I was hoping if someone saw me they would take me home. I had no idea until after I got home that Skooter had left me at the house where he was born and from where Mom and Dad adopted him.”

“That was really strange and sort of spooky,” exclaims Periwinkle.

“You know the rest of the story,” Stinky tells her.

“I guess I am happy you had a good time and weren’t just hiding somewhere and afraid to come home,” Periwinkle tells Stinky. “But don’t you ever do anything that stupid again.”

“Hey, it really wasn’t my fault. I thought I would just explore outside for a little while and be back home in time for my afternoon snack. But I do not plan to ever go anywhere again without you or my Mom and Dad, especially now that I know what my folks and you went through trying to find me and get me home. And, of course, I have this locator collar now as well.”

“I am definitely thankful for that,” says Periwinkle, and then gives Stinky a big paw hug and whisker kiss.

Stinky reciprocates and the tabby duo retire to the catio for a snack and a visit with the Kitties Blue who aren’t angels.

The End

Periwinkle & Stinky are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. We absolutely don’t know any kitties who could be happier than they are. If you’d like to join the hop click on the badge.

STRONG, FEARLESS & BEAUTIFUL

 Sparks

sparks

I was thinking about how grateful I am for all the friends who supported us during our search for Sawyer, especially when our spirits were sagging. That is what prompted me to select today’s Spark from Misty Copeland.

If you are unfamiliar with Misty Copeland, she is an American ballet dancer for American Ballet Theatre (ABT), one of the three leading classical ballet companies in the United States. In June, 2015, Copeland became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in ABT’s 75-year history.

Misty May, in a photo from five-and-a-half years ago, is strong, fearless and beautiful and also represents Kitties Blue today in Comedy Plus’ Awww Mondays blog hop. You can join her there by clicking on the badge.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Stinky & Periwinkle are delighted they will be here tomorrow with a new adventure. Stinky has remained tight-lipped about what he has planned for the two adorable tabbies. So, I can offer no hints on what you can expect. I just know it will be fun. Please don’t disappoint them by missing out on the adventure.

C.J.’S SLEEPING SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #363

None of the Kitties Blue would take a break from napping to snap a selfie. That means I was required to take the photo myself. I selected the sleeping Calista Jo, as she didn’t have her face buried in her paws.

As C.J. didn’t wake up when I took her photo, she has no idea she’s your host today. Regardless, C.J. and all the Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing your selfies. We know all your other friends are as well, so please join us for yet another Sunday Selfies blog hop. As a reminder, you don’t have to post today to join us. The hop remains open through Thursday.
