SUNDAY SELFIES CANCELLED

ALERT

Sawyer is missing, and I cannot bring myself to post, other than to ask everyone to pray for him and us.

We were supposed to remember and honor our dear friend, Timmy Tom Cat, today, but that will be postponed.

NOTHING BEATS A BOX!

Caturday Art

I know I was the subject of our Caturday Art last week, so I hope you don’t mind seeing me again today. I asked Mom if I could do the art, as I want to let you know how I am doing in HWAC’s Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest. First, however, I’d like to show you the art Mom created today for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s blog hop.

box

I am in a box again, just like last week, but it is a different box. And this time I had some nice, cushy tissue paper to snuggle into.

To create this, Mom used the Boleto effect from Painnt, and did not alter it like she usually does. It is difficult to see, but there is also a blue scroll border from piZap.

If you are a jigsaw fan, you can find a link tom this one at the bottom of this post.

I am zipping over to Athena’s to join her blog hop. You can do the same by clicking on her badge.

Calendar Contest Update

When I went to bed last night I was in sixth place in the contest. When I got up this morning, this is what I saw.

Thanks to my dad, Brian’s dad, Terry (adding votes for the second time), Raz and Noelle’s mom, Sharon, and Sandee Clark (also adding votes for the second time), I jumped up to first place. I am totally surprised, delighted and grateful for everyone who is supporting me. There is no way of knowing where I will place at the end, but it doesn’t really matter. The whole idea is to raise money for the orphaned pets and programs at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. The contest continues for another five weeks, so I’ll keep you updated as it progresses.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

I believe Cooper Murphy is planning to host our blog hop tomorrow, as we will be remembering and honoring his fellow Cat Scout, Timmy. Timmy got his wings on Wednesday, and all his friends and Scouts are devastated by the loss. Even if you do not plan to hop tomorrow, please stop by and help us remember this terrific cat. You can leave condolences for Dad Pete and Timmy’s fursibs, Miss Fitz, Toby, Rumpy and Einstein by clicking on his photo.

Of course, my brofurs and sisfurs hope you will decide to take and post a selfie and then join the hop.

Thanks again for all your support and friendship.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kizmet

BURSTING AT THE SEAMS POST

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday on Friday

We were so busy with thankfuls yesterday that I saved our poem for today. In fact, we are bursting at the seam with information today. Hope you can stay with us to the end.

I share the poetry inspiration photo for this week with apologies to Angel Sammy and Teddy. I did take a bit of “poetic license” and enhanced the photo just a teeny, tiny (19-pounds worth) bit.

Nom, Nom, Nom

This sandwich looks phenomenal,
And I am certain it is totally nom-able.
I can smell lots of goodies tucked inside:
Chicken, tuna, sardines, salmon
Cheese, trout, duck and bacon.
When I finish I’ll need a bromide.
But I ‘m dismissing heartburn as a consequence,
As my appetite is truly bottomless.
So step aside so I can take a bite.

If you’d like to try your paw at poetry, like Cooper Murphy, check out Two Spoiled Cats on Thursday for the following week’s inspiration photo. To go there, click on the poetry badge.

Commentathon

Before moving on to the usual Friday topics, I want to let you know how our commentathon turned out. Combining our comments on the Tuesday and Wednesday posts, we had 39. I rounded this up to $40 and purchased 40 votes for Kizmet in Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest. Kizmet had dropped from fifth to sixth and then eighth place in the contest, but the recent votes have pushed her back up into fifth place. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to HWAC by voting for Kizmet, click on the link.

Kizmet and I thank everyone who made a comment and those who made individual donations. We 💓 you!

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #265

As we usually do, the Kitties Blue and I are participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) and Ellen (15 And Meowing). They post the sentence to be filled on their blogs on Thursdays, and participants post their fill-ins on Fridays. I had to ask for some assistance this week, and fortunately two of the Kitties Blue volunteered. We all used teal Italics for our fill-ins.

1. If I were one of the 7 dwarves, I would be Sleepy, as I never get enough sleep.
2. I think television is good and bad. It all depends on what you decide to watch.
3. Kizmet: No paws, butt or other body part on a human’s placement is a rule that I regularly break.
4. Sawyer: I can’t believe getting treats whenever I ask isn’t more popular.

To join the hop, click on the badge below.

Feline/Friendship Friday

Astrid is here today to join these two blog hops and show you that Kizmet is not the only “monkey” among the Kitties Blue.

If you would like to participate in the Comedy Plus Feline Friday blog hop and/or the Create with Joy Friendship Friday hop, click on the appropriate badge(s).

Prayers Please

Please send some prayers to our friend and yours, Angels Eric and Flynn’s mom, Jackie. You can stop by her blog, The Adventures of Eric and Flynn by clicking on the link. If you would like Jackie’s e-mail or snail mail address, you can get them from Ann (Zoolatry) at zoolatry@gmail.com.

Saying Good-Bye is Never Easy

A dear and special friend, Cat Scout Timmy, received his wings on Wednesday. His dad, Pete, will be posting about it today. When he does, please visit and leave your condolences at Tom Cat Commentary by Tim. Mom’s response when she found out was “no, no, no!” This has left us totally heartbroken. We will remember and honor Timmy on our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Cat World Domination Day

Finally, the Kitties Blue and I must apologize to Summer and Angel Sparkle for missing Cat World Domination Day yesterday. We always participate, but with a birthday, anniversary and the Calendar Contest happening, it totally slipped our minds. Summer had a great party, and we hope you were able to attend.

Whether or not Kitties Blue had the opportunity to celebrate, they want to assure you that they dominate us every single day without fail. Dad Tom and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

AN ABUNDANCE OF THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

We have so many thankfuls this week, the kitties and I have decided to save our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday poem until tomorrow and share it along with our Fill-Ins.

Kizmet

Kizmet asked to start, as she has oodles of thankfuls.

She is thankful to everyone who visited her birthday celebration and left comments on the post. As we write this, comments from Tuesday and yesterday total 38. Comments will remain open on both posts through today. If you haven’t left a comment, you can still do so. If you haven’t been following us the last couple of days and are wondering why this is important, here’s the reason: We are having a commentathon. I will be donating $1 for each comment on those two posts to the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

The tax deductible donation will go toward votes for Kizmet in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest! Kizmet is currently in sixth place in the contest with 120 votes. She is sending out extra special thanks to Brian’s Dad (Terry Frum), Kevin Hattori (meowmeowmans), Sandee Clark, Susan McDevitt and Amy Sandy for voting for Kizmet through their own donations to HWAC. If you would like to join them, votes are $1 with a minimum purchase of five votes. Donations will be used by the Center to support their orphan pets and programs. Voting remains open through 5 p.m. PT, August 2. By clicking on the link above, you will be taken to the contest.

Kizmet will keep you posted on how she is doing. The top 12 vote recipients will each represent a month on the Center’s 2022 calendar.

Kizmet entered this photo in the contest.

Astrid

Astrid would like to thank everyone who visited yesterday and left anniversary wishes for her and her husband of five years, Sampy, from Kitty Cat Chronicles.

Mom Janet

I have some thankfuls this week as well; though I am going to save a couple of them for next week. If I don’t, this post will become unbearably long.

I reached two milestones and received two badges on Peloton this week. One was for completing 400 meditation sessions and the other for a four-year streak of participation. I have never missed a week since I began on this journey 208 weeks ago. And during those 48 months I have missed very few days!

I also managed to be a first commenter, along with three others, on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats and received this cute badge.

Dad Tom, Mom Janet & Sawyer

As far as we know Sawyer has not had a seizure since May 24. You might wonder why I said, “as far as we know.” As you would suspect, we cannot be with him 24/7, and he has had seizures when we weren’t around. However, we always find the evidence later, and we have found none in the past month. Yippee!

Blog Hop

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. If you’d like to participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on Brian’s badge to be whisked off to his blog where you can enter your link.

BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Commentathon

Today we are celebrating the first birthday of the newest member of the Kitties Blue family: Kizmet! This young lady has brought so much joy and laughter to our household. She is always getting into something and being a silly monkey.

On yesterday’s “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky” post, we announced that in honor of Kizmet’s birthday we are having a commentathon. The proceeds will be donated to the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) to help support their orphan pets and programs. For each comment left on yesterday’s and today’s posts, Mom will be donating $1. The donation will go toward the purchase of votes for Kizmet in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest!  Kizmet began yesterday in 27th place in the contest. Thanks to the generosity of our friends, which we’ll tell you about tomorrow on our Thankful Thursday post, she is now in fifth place. You can find out more about the contest by clicking on the link to it or the link to Periwinkle and Stinky’s post.

Kizmet’s Birthday

To celebrate Kizmet’s birthday, Cooper Murphy made a cake and we all collaborated on making a card.

We hope you will all join us in wishing this little lady tomboy “monkey” a very happy birthday. And please invite all your friends to drop by and do the same. The more comments, the more dollars Mom will be sending to HWAC.

Astrid & Sampy’s Anniversary

From today forward, our household will be filled with two joyous celebrations on June 23, as Kizmet was born on Astrid and Sampy’s anniversary. This adorable couple exchanged vows in 2016 at the Blog Paws conference. If you’d like to see the original post, you can find it here: “Introducing the Newlyweds“.

Of course, we had Cooper Murphy make another cake, and we made them a card.

We are delighted that these two found each other. If you do not know Sampy, click on The Felines page from our menu.

To go with your cake, we have champagne and nip lemonade.

Thanks for joining us today for these memorable celebrations. And please don’t forget to ask your friends to stop by, so we can donate lots of money to HWAC.

Purrs and paw-pats, Kitties Blue

p.s. We have been very wordy today, but we are still joining the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: PART LXXXIX

Stinky is even more excited than usual to see Periwinkle and embark on today’s adventure. He’s been bouncing around for so long, his paws are beginning to hurt. Just as he thinks he is going to need to sit down and rest, Periwinkle comes tumbling from the tunnel right into his waiting paws. After greeting each other with giggles, paw hugs and whisker kisses, Periwinkle asks Stinky what his plans are for their adventure.

Stinky replies, “I think this is going to be one of our best ever adventures!”

This, of course, makes Periwinkle squeal with delight and ask, “Where are we going, and what are we going to do?”

National Kissing Day

Stinky tells her they won’t be going anywhere, but he is certain she won’t be disappointed. “Today is National Kissing Day, and tomorrow is my sisfur, Kizmet’s, birthday. We are going to combine those two things into something extra special.”

“We aren’t going to spend the day kissing Kizmet are we?” asks Periwinkle, with disappointment in her voice.

Stinky giggles and tells her, “no!”

“Wow, I am sure relieved about that, as that must mean we are going to spend the day giving each other whisker kisses!”

“Not exactly, Periwinkle,” Stinky tells her.

“Well, then, please explain your plans to me.”

Stinky explains that he and Periwinkle are going to have a kissing booth as part of a commentathon in honor of Kizmet’s birthday.

Commentathon for Helen Woodward Animal Center

“We are selling kisses for a dollar. For each comment/kiss we receive my mom is setting aside $1 for the Helen Woodward Animal Center. Each dollar will buy a vote for Kizmet in the Superhero Sidekicks Calendar Contest!

“What’s that all about, Stinky?” asks Periwinkle.

“It’s a fundraiser for the Animal Center. They are raising money to support the orphan pets and programs at Helen Woodward Animal Center. Kizmet is entered in the contest to win a spot on their 2022 calendar. Right now she only has the 25 votes mom was required to purchase to enter her in the contest.”

“Oh, Stinky, that is very sad; we really need to get her some votes. What can we do?”

“We have to encourage everyone to leave a comment either today or tomorrow on Kizmet’s birthday post.”

How You Can Help

“Can we do anything else?”

“Yes, we can ask everyone to make their own tax deductible donations by purchasing votes for Kizmet. Votes have to be purchased in $5 increments, which almost everybody can afford. They have until 8 p.m. on August 2 to vote. To do that, they can click on the the graphic below.”

“Should we open the booth so we can get oodles of comments and begin kissing, Stinky?”

“Sounds good to me, Periwinkle!”

“Should we take some snacks with us if we are going to be there through Kizmet’s birthday tomorrow?”

“I’ve got that covered. We have onion rings and chocolate eclairs,” replies Stinky through giggles.

“Yuck, those are terrible snacks. What were you thinking? No one wants to kiss after eating onion rings, and cats are not supposed to eat onions or chocolate.”

“I’m just kidding you, Periwinkle. It’s National Onion Ring Day and National Chocolate Eclairs Day as well as National Kissing Day. I have Temptations and Fancy Feast.”

“That’s better,” Periwinkle replies. She then takes Stinky’s paw and leads him to the kissing booth.

Please return tomorrow for Kizmet’s birthday celebration. Stinky, Periwinkle and all the Kitties Blue will be here. It’s also Astrid and Sampy’s fifth Wedding Anniversary as well, so it will be a big bash. You definitely do not want to miss that.

Happy Tuesday

Periwinkle and Stinky are joining the Happy Tuesday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can do the same by clicking on that badge.

HEART OF THE HOME

Sparks

Usually I select a quote for my Spark, and then look for a photo to represent it. Today, however, I had a photo taken by Dad Tom that I knew I had to use. Seeing that Kizmet and Sawyer’s bodies together made the shape of a heart warmed my heart. The words that came to mind when I saw this photo were love and support.

heart

When I found this quote from Sabrina Bryan, I decided it was purrfect.

I had no idea who Sabrina Bryan is, and this is what I found out. She is a 36-year-old American actress, singer, songwriter, dancer, choreographer, fashion designer and television personality. She was best known as a member of the girl group The Cheetah Girls, and starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie of the same name and its sequels.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks,“I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite, fun-loving best friends will be sharing another of their adventures tomorrow. Please stop by here to see what the heck they get up to or into. I suspect it will be something entertaining.

FATHER’S DAY 2021 GROUP SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #358

Today we celebrate our dad, who we think is the World’s Best Cat Dad. He does everything for us, and we love him bunches. To honor him, we made a special card with his selfie and a selfie of each of us.

If you are wondering about our disguises, it’s sort of an inside joke. But if you look closely at our dad, we think you’ll figure out who is the brunt of the joke. But, we want to assure you, we are not mocking our dad.  This is to let him know we love him so much that we want to be just like him!

Hopping Time

Now it is your turn. If you’d like to honor your dad by sharing his selfie, that would be terrific. And if you’d like to share an usie with the two of you, that would be even better. Whatever you decide to share is okay with us. We just hope to see you here hopping with us. Even if you don’t want to share a selfie and hop, please stop by and check out the selfies of your friends.

WISHING OUR DAD AND ALL DADS A

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

INTERNATIONAL BOX DAY WITH KIZMET

Caturday Art

Dad Tom was using the dehydrator to dry some mint, and the box from it was on the table in the catio. After spending the morning playing crazy kitten, Kizmet crawled in and slept for about three hours. I have two photos for her first International Box Day. I used two different effects from Painnt to create today’s art.

International Box Day

Kizmet was snoozing in this first photo. I used the Pastel effect, but I brightened it up considerably by bumping up the saturation.

International Box Day

Kizmet was awake for her second photo. To create the art I used the Explorer effect and added the hard light filter from Color Composition.

Do you have a favorite? I think I prefer the second photo. I have made a puzzle out of each photo for those of you who enjoy a challenge. The links are at the bottom of the post.

Kizmet is participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. You can do the same by clicking on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is another special Sunday…Father’s Day! Kitties Blue and I encourage you to share the spotlight with your dad and do an usie or let your dad be the star all on his own. Whatever you decide, we certainly hope it will be to participate in our blog hop. If you are too busy tomorrow loving on and cuddling with your dad, you can enter the hop anytime through Thursday. Whether you hop or not, we are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY WITH A SPECIAL FRIEND

Feline/Friendship Friday

One of our thankfuls yesterday was that I got to spend time with my friend of more than 30 years, Mary Jane. Kitties Blue told you how Misty May spent time on Mary Jane’s lap. So, what could be better for Friendship Friday than a photo of that occurrence.

Misty May and Mary Jane are participating in both the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy and the Feline Friday bog hop hosted by Comedy Plus. To do the same, click on the appropriate badge(s).

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #264

I am joining the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The intent is to give participants the opportunity to let their followers learn a little more about them.

After having to put together yesterday’s post, not one of the Kitties Blue stepped up to help me with the fill-ins this week. It’s okay, as I managed all on my own.

1. If I could trade places with someone for a day, I would trade with no other human, but I might trade with one of the very spoiled Kitties Blue.

2. I would like to own a convertible some day.

3. I can’t stand the humidity this time of the year.

4. Getting to spend time in the pool is my favorite thing about this time of the year.

If you’d like to join the blog hop, the sentences to be filled-in can be found on Thusrdays on both blogs. You can join the hop by clicking on the Fill-Ins badge.

We’ll be back tomorrow with some art for International Box Day.
