SAWYER’S SERIOUS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #342

I may look serious, but I am happy to be here and welcome you to our Sunday Selfies blog hop. All of us Kitties Blue have been practicing our selfies. Since Kizmet arrived, she is showing us all up with her terrific photos and selfies. If the rest of us are going to get any blog time, we need to step up our game. Calista Jo showed you what she could do last week, so now it is my turn.

Recently, our mom has been updating you about my seizures. I haven’t had a tonic-clonic (gran mal) seizure in 19 days. I have had several focal seizures, which normally involve weakness in one of my legs and spastic mouth movements. Usually these focal seizures will turn into a gran mal, but lately they haven’t been. I have my paws crossed and my mom and dad are praying this will become a trend.

Hopping Time

Now that I have filled you in on how I am doing, it is time to hop. Will you please join me and share your selfie with us? You don’t even have to post today to participate. Our hop is open through Thursday.

All my fursibs and I totally appreciate your support and participation in our hop.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with Whisker Kisses for Noelle)

PASTEL PRETTY LISBETH

Caturday Art

pastel

Today’s art was created using a photo of Lisbeth lying in a sunpuddle in the kitchen. I normally would have cropped this photo much closer to Lisbeth’s body, but I liked all the varied angles and pastel colors. I used the Explorer effect from Painnt and bumped the saturation to the max available. The border is from the FAV.PNG app.

Lisbeth is participating in the Caturday blog hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to join or just check out some cool art by your fellow bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

I made a puzzle for those of you who enjoy the fun of puzzling. It is at the bottom of this post.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Usually I have no idea which of the Kitties Blue will be hosting the Sunday Selfies blog hop until the last moment, as they have been known to rebel against taking a selfie and participating. Lately, however, they have been stepping up and volunteering, so I am beginning to stockpile selfies. Tomorrow, Sawyer will be here to greet you and share his selfie. We all look forward to seeing yours. I know all your friends will be looking for your selfie as well, so please consider joining us.

Kitties Blue and I appreciate each of you who join and support us.

CATIO TIME FOR KIZMET & SAWYER

Feline/Friendship Friday

Sawyer and Kizmet enjoyed an unseasonable 70-degree day on the catio.

They are participating in both the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy. if you’d like to join them on both or either, click on the appropriate badge(s) below.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #248

Time for those fill-ins hosted each week by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). I used teal italics for my fill-ins and did them without any help from the Kitties Blue, which I definitely could have used.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. You can find the sentences to be filled in on both blogs on Thursdays. And you can join the hop by clicking on the badge at left.

I have used teal italics for my fill-ins. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

Except for #1, I thought these were extremely difficult fill-ins this week. My fill-in for #2 is a good example of how tough I thought they were.

1. You don’t have to convince me to social distance and wear a mask.

2. Trying to figure out how to fill this in is causing me stress.

3. Speaking from experience, I know our couple of days of unseasonably warm weather does not mean winter is behind us.

4. Over time, my opinion of cats has changed. (We had cats when I was very little, but when I was six years old, we started having dogs as pets. That continued until Dad Tom and I got our first cat, Skooter, in the mid-80s. Kizmet is our 20th cat. If you are unfamiliar with Skooter, click on The Felines tab on the menu bar.)

See you all tomorrow for Caturday Art.

THANKFUL FOR NO SEIZURES

Thankful Thursday

On Thursdays we recount our thankfuls and join the blog hop hosted by Brian.

Dad Tom and I are thankful to have received both COVID vaccines. We had some side effects after the second injection, but we are fine now.

Once again, I am thankful as I write this that Sawyer has not had a seizure in 16 days. He’s had a couple of instances of symptoms that often precede a seizure, but one did not materialize. This is the longest he’s been seizure-free in a very long time.

I received another First Commenter badge from Two Spoiled Cats, which I shared with three others.

If you’d like to participate in the blog hop, post for what you are thankful on your blog, then click on Brian’s badge.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday, which means it is time for the poetry challenge hosted by the Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy. Here’s this week’s inspiration photo and my poem.

Before COVID

A sight we’ll never see again
With women, children and men
Jammed together at the shore
Without the space for one more.
Social distancing did not exist,
But now our lives are based on it.
I wouldn’t have visited this packed beach.
I ‘ve never wanted others within reach.
Anxiety overtakes me with crowds around,
And I become somewhat “unwound.”
My favorite beach is mostly unoccupied.
Until I can travel there I won’t be satisfied.
I’ll social distance and wear my mask
And pray the time will come when I can bask
On a sunny beach far away from home
With my husband…but mostly alone.

SHOW GRATITUDE

Sparks

On Thursdays Kitties Blue and I share the specific things for which we are thankful. But expressing gratitude involves so much more than just listing those thankfuls. That is exactly what today’s Spark represents.

When I was in elementary school, my mom took me to see John F. Kennedy speak at a rally. He was so charismatic people flocked to him. I remember a huge crowd pressing forward trying to shake his hand. He was assassinated when I was a freshman in high school. He may have had his faults and imperfections, but he was an intelligent and perseptive man.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks,“I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

Kizmet and Cooper Murphy sleeping nose to toes makes for a truly awwwdorable entry into the Comedy Plus Awww Mobdays blog hop.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite, fun-loving tabbies will be sharing another of their adventures tomorrow. Please stop by Friends Furever to see what the heck they get up to or into…it’s bound to be something fun and maybe even exciting.

BEST SELFIE EVER

Sunday Selfies: Week #341

I know I have told you more than a few times that I had taken my best selfie, but this time I really did.

best selfie ever

So what do you think? Did I do a good job?

Now I am waiting to see your selfies. Mom told me to remind you that you don’t have to post on Sunday to join the blog hop. Our hop remains open through Thursday.

Here’s our badge. If you want to include it on your post and link back to us, that would be really cool.

Thanks for following us and supporting our hop. We truly appreciate your friendships.

Purrs and paw-pats, Calista Jo

CATURDAY ART IS 2,500TH POST

2,500th Post

Well that’s a milestone I never expected to reach when I started down this path in 2012. It surprises me that I even noticed. This is not a special post to celebrate, just our usual Caturday Art.

Caturday Art

Those of you who visit us regularly for Caturday Art know I often get carried away when creating it. It all revolves around the fact that I like bright colors. So, you shouldn’t be surprised when you see today’s art.

Caturday Art

I used PicMonkey to create the art by combining two of Dad Tom’s photos. Those photos (ice-coated holly berries and Cooper Murphy) are below. I began with Cooper as the base photo with the berries added as an overlay. Some of the berries show up clearly in the art version.

Had I not been using Cooper’s photo for art, I would have cropped it substantially.

You can find our arty creation and that of other bloggers on the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To participate, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Your host for our selfies hop tomorrow will be Calista Jo. She is getting really, really good at taking selfies and is looking forward to sharing her latest one with you. She’s hoping lots and lots of you will join her. And all the Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing your cute and smiling faces.

🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD TOM! 🎂

DAD TOM GETS KIZMET’S FIRST STINK EYE

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #247

Time for those fill-ins hosted each week by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). I used teal italics for my fill-ins and did them without any help from the Kitties Blue.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. You can find the sentences to be filled in on both blogs on Thursdays. And you can join the hop by clicking on the badge at left.

1. I keep hoping Sawyer will stop having seizures.

2. Last year at this time, I was in physical therapy.

3. A sunny autumn day is my favorite kind of weather.

4. One random fact I happen to know is the city I live in (Roanoke, VA) was originally named Big Lick.

Please join us tomorrow for Caturday Art and our 2,500th post.

THE DREAM NIGHTMARE & THANKFULS

Thankful Thursday

Dad Tom and I are thankful we will be getting our second COVID vaccine on Saturday. We are equally thankful, that as I write this on Wednesday night, Sawyer is nine days past his last seizure.

Astrid, Sawyer, Lisbeth and Cooper Murphy are thankful to have received Valentines from their significant others. All were on-line except for Cooper Murphy’s from girlfriend Tyebe (Canadian Cats). It is so darn adorable that he asked me to share it with our readers.

On a lighter note, I am thankful to be one of the first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I got this badge.

As always, we are thankful for all our followers, friends and supporters.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by our friend, Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, and then click on Brian’s badge to go to his blog and enter your link.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday, which means it is time for the poetry challenge hosted by the Two Spoiled Cats, Angel Sammy and Teddy. Here’s this week’s inspiration photo and my poem.

nightmare

The Dream Nightmare

It was a cold and foggy night
Without another human in sight.
Until I felt a sudden ripple of fear
Just as an apparition appeared.
Far ahead of me on the path
Would I encounter a sociopath
Or just another insomniac like me?
But fright tells me it must be a banshee
Here to warn of my impending death.
I’m aware I am holding my breath,
And that I have closed my eyes
Fearing I am facing my demise.
When suddenly I’m awake in my bed
With confusing thoughts in my head.
It seems sleep had finally taken ahold,
And then a nightmare took control.
Thankfully my head is now clear,
And I can return to bed without fear.
