THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY: WEEK #LXVII

Arriving in New Hampshire

Stinky sent Periwinkle coordinates for the teleportation tunnel so they could meet at the destination of their adventure. As he bounces from paw to paw (more from excitement than from the cold); though, he is definitely cold, he hopes she set them correctly. He knows she is going to be in awe of the place he has selected for their adventure.

With just a few minutes more of a wait, Periwinkle tumbles out of her tunnel into Stinky’s waiting paws. After lots of hugging and whisker kissing, Periwinkle looks around and cannot believe what she is seeing. Being a Florida cat, she’s mesmerized by what surrounds her.

“Stinky, where are we? Are we still on our planet?” she asks.

Stinky can see she is shivering, so before he answers, he helps Periwinkle into a warm coat and boots. She hugs and thanks him.

Ice Castles

Stinky takes Periwinkle’s paw and leads her forward while explaining where they are. “We are in New Hampshire and this is Ice Castles. Mom saw a television show about the one in Utah and looked it up on-line for me. That’s how we found this one, which allowed us to visit without traveling as far.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

As they begin to explore, Stinky tells Periwinkle more about the attraction. ”In December, the site’s lead builder and his team set up icicle farms. These consist of metal racks that are sprayed with water to allow icicles to grow on them overnight. Those icicles are harvested by the artists and placed around more than 70 water sprinklers.”

“After the sprinklers are turned on, water begins to freeze to the icicles. Those icicles grow together and get bigger and thicker. Then the artists spend 4,000 hours dripping and shaping the icicles. Within a few weeks, the icicles cover the entire park. The castles feature ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and towers. Some like this one reach heights of 20 feet.”

“We are lucky we have claws, Stinky. I am certain the humans cannot climb up here. And wow, they are missing a terrific view!”

“It definitely is spectacular. We can see the entire site from here,” adds Stinky.

“These tunnels are really fun. Do you know how they get all these colors, Stinky?”

“Yes, the artists embed color-changing LED lights within the 25,000 pounds of ice.”

“I also love the soundtrack they have playing. It makes this even more magical,” remarks Periwinkle.

Romance in the Air?

“It’s also very romantic as well, don’t you think?” asks Periwinkle.

Stinky blushes but takes Periwinkle’s paw and gives her a whisker kiss.

“I’m starting to get pretty cold and think I need a warm drink,” Periwinkle tells Stinky.

“That sounds good to me, I am certain we can find someplace nearby,” Stinky tells Periwinkle as they take a final look around.

“Does this look okay to you, Periwinkle?”

“Oh yes, thanks Stinky.”

After enjoying some hot chocolate and pastries, the tabbies share lots and lots of paw hugs and whisker kisses. Reluctantly the two finally enter their teleportation tunnels for their trips home, each already looking forward to their next adventure.

Sparks

I colored this in Happy Canvas, one of the two coloring apps I have on my iPad. I like what it says and I am going to strive to do both of these things in 2021.

Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks,“I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Your favorite, fun-loving tabbies will be here tomorrow to share another of their adventures with you. Please stop by to see what the heck they get up to or into…it’s bound to be something fun and maybe even exciting.

GINGERY GOODNESS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #336

Cooper Murphy selfie

I am sorry I didn’t look at the phone when I took my selfie. The birds outside the kitchen window distracted me. And I was daydreaming about my girlfriend, Tyebe, and how nice it would be to have her visit and birdy watch with me. Regardless, I think this selfie turned out pretty well. I hope she likes it.

Nothing else exciting to report from the House of Blue Cats. So, that means it is time for you to share your selfies with us and all your admirers. As soon as you finish posting, you’ll have the entire day for a nice easy. If you don’t have time to join us today, our hop remains open through Thursday.

Before I go, Mom had a request for a puzzle of Astrid’s Caturday Art, so here it is.

GRUMPY ASTRID’S “VINTAGE” ART

Caturday Art

"Vintage"

This photo of Astrid was taken as part of her photo session for last Sunday’s selfie. The original photo was awful, but it made for some pretty terrific art (in my opinion); though, admittedly, Astrid is a tad grumpy.

I used Painnt again applying the Vintage effect. With piZap I changed the “hue” of the effect and added the uneven white edge.

Astrid is popping over to the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join her, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Your host for the selfies blog hop tomorrow will be that hunk of ginger goodness, Cooper Murphy. He asked that I remind you to get your selfie taken so you can join us tomorrow. All your friends will be here looking for you, so please don’t miss this opportunity to show off yourselves. We always appreciate your participation and support. Until tomorrow…

KIZMET DISCOVERS THE CATIO & FILL-INS

Feline & Friendship Friday

catio

Kizmet discovered the joys of the catio yesterday.

Kizmet is hopping over to Comedy Plus for the Feline Friday blog hop and Create With Joy for the Friendship Friday blog hop. You can do the same by clicking on the appropriate badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week: #242

Time for those fill-ins hosted each week by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Both Cooper Murphy and Sawyer asked to do #3, and I could not deny my boys. All of us used teal italics for our fill-ins.

1. I learned not to take a bath with my cat the hard way.

2. Everyone should live with a cat at least once in their lives.

3. Cooper Murphy: Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Tyebe.
Sawyer: Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Noelle.

4. I’ll never be too old to live with cats.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop. You can find the sentences to be filled in on both blogs on Thursdays. And you can join the hop by clicking on the badge below.

THANKFULS & POSSIBILITIES

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue and I are participating in the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by our pal, Brian. You can do the same by clicking on the badge at the left.

Dad Tom and I remain thankful to be safe and virus free. We have no idea when we will be able to get the vaccine, but we will be in line as soon as it’s available.

Kitties Blue are thankful for all the holiday cards they received, and we will show them on another day. Amazingly we continue to receive cards that were mailed well before Christmas. The most recent was received on Tuesday from one state away. It was mailed on December 10. The sender could have walked it here faster!

Dad Tom and I also remain thankful we adopted Kizmet. She is a total character and one-kitten wrecking machine, so provides us with hours of entertainment (and some clean-up). She and Sawyer enjoy chasing each other all over the house. We just wish they wouldn’t do it in the middle of the night.

Kizmet’s most recent antics include stealing sponges and other dish cleaning implements from the kitchen and dragging them through the house!

THANKFUL

As always, we are thankful for your support and friendship. We pray that you all remain safe and healthy.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday is not only the day we share our thankfuls but also our poems based on an inspiration photo. The photo is provided by the Two Spoiled Cats (Teddy and Angel Sammy). Angel Sammy also writes a poem based on the photo and transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge. It is always an excellent read, so I suggest you click on the poetry badge and pop over to Two Spoiled Cats to read it. While there, you can get next week’s inspiration photo and write your own poem.

This week’s photo and my poem are below.

Possibilities

The new neighbors seemed nice.
When they began to remodel, we didn’t think twice.
We had no idea what they had in mind
Or that their house would be of a different kind.
The icy igloo in the midst of our city
Is impractical; though, it is sort of pretty.
We are certain it will melt when summer comes.
We’re digging a swimming pool to catch what runs
From their house and yard and into ours.
It will fill the pool and water the flowers!

HAMMING IT UP FOR AWWW MONDAYS

Awww Mondays

I dove back into my photo archives for today’s photo for the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. We’ve had and currently have a house full of cute kitties, but I think you will agree our now angel, Mau, was one of the most awww-adorable.

hamming it up with mau

In this photo from September, 2015, Mau was hamming it up as he often did. If you’d like to join our sweet angel, Mau, on the blog hop, click on the badge.

Sparks

Today’s Spark is different from those I usually post. However, in light of what occurred this week in our U.S. Capitol, it spoke to me and I found it appropriate.

Your two favorite tabbies will be off on another adventure tomorrow. I cannot wait to see what they get up to or into. I’ll be checking them out over at Friends Furever. I know they’ll be hoping to see you there as well.

TORTIE ASTRID CLAIMS THE SUNDAY SELFIES SPOT

Sunday Selfies: Week #335

Sunday Selfies

I bet y’all thought my new sisfur was going to be here today. She truly is a pawsome selfie taker. I decided, however, that I needed to represent the rest of the Kitties Blue. So, I spent lots of time snuggling with mom on her lap yesterday afternoon knowing she’d get me to take a selfie. Okay, so it isn’t the best ever selfie, but I am reasonably satisfied. I hope you are as well.

I have shown you mine. Now it is your turn to snap your selfie and share with us and all your friends. You can link up now or any time through Thursday.

All my sisfurs and brofurs appreciate your continuing to join and support our blog hop.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid

POW WITH ANGEL MAU

Caturday Art

I created today’s art from a photo taken on Christmas Day.

POW

Cooper Murphy was lying in a pile of wrapping paper. If you look closely to his left, you will see Mau in his Santa hat. I love that photo and used it to make Christmas wrapping paper.

To create the art I used the Seemel effect from Picas as well as the Pow filter at 40 percent and the star border from piZap.

Cooper Murphy is participating in the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To do the same or just find links to other artful creations, click on Athena’s badge.

I made a puzzle for you puzzlers.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Well this past week sure zipped by; it is already time to think about taking a selfie for tomorrow’s blog hop. Kitties Blue are pretty excited about now having a little sisfur who loves the camera and takes amazing photos. I think they are expecting her to take over the selfie duties every week. I suspect they’ll be miffed when I explain to them that isn’t going to happen, and they all are going to have to step up from time to time. That means, you will need to stop by tomorrow to find out which of the Kitties Blue will be your host. We hope you will decide to join the hop as well.
