THE ADVENTURES OF PERIWINKLE & STINKY PART: LXI

Letters to Santa

Stinky paces back and forth by the teleportation tunnel waiting for Periwinkle and worrying that she will not enjoy today’s adventure. Distracted by his pacing and brooding, Stinky almost misses Periwinkle’s arrival. But as soon as he hears the familiar whoosh, he is ready with big hugs and whisker kisses. After some snuggling and whispering, Periwinkle asks Stinky what the plan is for the day. He takes her by the paw and leads her to his mom’s iPad.

“We’ll be staying home again today. It is cold and most of the adventures I want to take you on are not available due to that stupid virus,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“Oh, you know I don’t care what we do. Since we are getting the iPad, are we going to color again? I love to color,” says Periwinkle.

“Not today. We are going to write our letters to Santa,” Stinky tells Periwinkle.

“That sounds like fun, but can we color afterward and send Santa pictures with our letters?” asks Periwinkle.

“That sounds like a terrific idea. I think Santa would like that. Do you want to write your letter first Periwinkle?”

“Oh, yes please,” replies Periwinkle clapping her paws together and sitting down at the iPad. “I think I will use the red ink.”

While Periwinkle writes her letter, Stinky naps. When finished, Periwinkle nudges Stinky and tells him it is his turn.

Stinky selects the blue ink and starts his letter. This time Periwinkle takes the opportunity to have a little nap. Teleportation travel can be very tiring.

When Stinky finishes, he wakes Periwinkle, and they read each other’s letters.

Periwinkle exclaims, “Oh Phooey, I forgot to ask Santa to get rid of the danged virus and pandemic. Do you think I should add a P.S.?”

Stinky tells her he is certain that almost every human will have that in their letter, and so she is okay for not mentioning it. He pats Periwinkle with his paw and suggests they do their coloring project.

Pictures for Santa

Periwinkle tells him that she already selected her picture to color while he was writing his letter. Stinky tells her to do her coloring first and he will select his picture when she finishes. Stinky decides to watch Periwinkle color instead of nap.

When Periwinkle finishes, she shows Stinky her picture.

Santa

“Santa is going to love that Periwinkle. It is so colorful.” Periwinkle gives Stinky a big whisker kiss as thanks and hands him the iPad.

“Are you going to watch me color my picture?” Stinky asks Periwinkle.

She replies, “No, I think I am going to visit with your mom and fursibs if that is okay.”

Stinky replies, “Sure,” and begins his coloring project. When he finishes he finds Periwinkle and his mom talking in the kitchen. They get very quiet when he enters.

Santa

He shows them both his picture, which they admire. Stinky’s mom prepares some treats for the tabbies and promises she will e-mail their letters and pictures to Santa while they enjoy their snack.

When they finish their snack, Periwinkle says good-bye to all the Kitties Blue and Stinky’s parents. The tabbies share hugs and whisker kisses and secrets at the teleportation tunnel. Finally it is time to say their good-byes. They give each other one last hug. Periwinkle enters the tunnel and is gone. Stinky wipes a tear from his eye, and heads to the bedroom for a nap and to dream about Periwinkle.

CHRISTMAS SPARK & AWWW MONDAYS

Sparks

Christmas

I believe today’s Spark is self-explanatory. It clearly describes how I feel about Christmas.

The author of today’s Spark, Thomas Spencer Monson (1927 – 2018) was an American religious leader, author, and the 16th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).

As I’ve been reminding you for months, Sparks is the creation of Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend. Annie stated when she began Sparks,“I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world.”

Awww Mondays

Dad Tom took this blurry photo of Misty May while she was in his lap at the kitchen island. He entitled it, “Subbing for Mau.” This was Mau’s spot almost every night after dinner. Some of you may recall photos of Mau in this exact spot.

Those two adorable and fun-loving tabbies will be right here tomorrow. They get very excited when you join them on their adventures, so please come by tomorrow and check out what they doing.

SAWYER’S CATIO SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #330

catio

I took my selfie a couple of weeks ago on my Gotcha Day. We were having some unseasonably warm weather, and I was on the catio. This definitely is one of my best ever selfies, as I wasn’t being a grumpy puss. I actually don’t get grumpy very often now.

Do you think my girlfriend Noelle will like this? My paws are crossed that she does.

Anyhoo, now that you have seen my selfie, please share yours with all of us as well as your friends and admirers. Remember, we are here through Thursday, and you don’t even have to post today to join. I fancied my selfie up with a holiday border, but that’s not a requirement to participate.

Looking Ahead

We have an exciting week coming up. We’ll have a review of a new cat tree, and you won’t want to miss “The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky” on Tuesday.

In the meantime, have a terrific easy Sunday and make certain your humans stay home and safe. This nasty pandemic isn’t going away anytime soon.

SNUGGLY SNOWFLAKE ART

Caturday Art

In this photo, Cooper Murphy is snuggled into a fort he built himself on the sofa out of pillows. To turn it into art, I returned to the Painnt app. I used the Red Ashes effect. Using piZap, I cut the photo into a snowflake pattern and added a piZap background.

We haven’t seen any snow here, and the forecast is for a lower amount than usual this winter.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Yep, another week has zipped on past, and it is time for Sunday Selfies again. We’ll probably having Christmas-themed selfies from now until the end of the year, but that is not a requirement if you plan to participate. We’ll be waiting right here tomorrow to see your adorable faces. Please don’t disappoint us.

Have a terrific Saturday.

CALISTA JO JOINS FRIDAY BLOG HOPS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #236

Each week, Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Lorianne from Four-Legged Furballs host this fun blog hop. They provide participants with the fun activity of completing four sentences especially selected by them. This week I got a little help from Calista Jo with the filling in. We both used teal italics to complete the sentences. Additional and/or explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. I am going to give several of my favorite animal organizations a donation for Christmas.

2. Calista Jo: I sleep 12 hours a night (and 11 hours during the day). Note: I think you already know this based on Wednesday’s post.

3. My home is decorated with garlands, trees, lights, window candles and a variety of other things, including lots of bears.

4. Christmas music makes me feel festive. (I don’t like hearing it, however, prior to December.)

If you would like to join in the fun of Fill-Ins, check out Ellen and Lorianne’s blogs on Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge below.

THANKFULS, CHRISTMAS TREES & HAIKU

Thankful Thursday

We are beginning with our thankfuls today, as we have a long list. Actually, Mom has the long list. We have our thankful at the end.

Mom is super grateful for recently winning a Sleepypod Air. She and Dad now have enough PTUs in case we ever have to evacuate. Paws crossed that never happens!

Mom also is thankful for finishing the holiday decorating. She usually hasn’t even started at this point. We’ve included a couple of tree photos.

The tree on the left is in the sunroom—a Kitties Blue-free zone. It has all Mom’s glass ornaments. The tree on the right has unbreakables and is in the dining room, which is basically our room. Neither tree is quite finished being decorated.

Mom is super thankful she gets to see one of her friends today. She hasn’t seen her since October 10. It has been even longer since she has seen either of her two other local friends. This pandemic has made her very lonely with so little real, in-person contact.

The biggest thankful is for her doctor’s appointment tomorrow. She is praying she will be able to get rid of the big old boot. She may have to go to a wooden, fracture shoe, but she is okay with that, as long as she doesn’t have to wear it for a long time.

We Kitties Blue are always thankful for a loving family as well as all our blogging friends, followers and supporters.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate post on your blog for what you are thankful, then click on the badge below to join the hop.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

On Thursdays, Mom or one of us write a poem for Two Spoiled Cats Angel Sammy and Teddy’s poetry challenge based on an inspiration photo. We think Mom punted this week, as she only wrote a haiku, but we promised to post it anyway. So here’s the photo and the haiku.

Evil clown shouts stay away
Where are the tea cups?

To participate in the poetry challenge check out Two Spoiled Cats today for next Thursday’s inspiration photo. Then post your poem on your blog next Thursday. To visit Teddy and Angel Sammy, click on the poetry badge. While visiting make certain you read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and his poems are always terrific.

Thanks for joining us today and everyday.
