A MIRACLE, A BLESSING & A POEM

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

I am joining Angel Sammy and Teddy’s poetry challenge as I do almost every Thursday. Some weeks the inspiration photo they provide truly “speaks” to me. Unfortunately, other times; though, I may like the picture, I am unable to find my creativity. That’s what happened with this Norman Rockwell painting.

Simpler Times

Norman Rockwell had a way of depicting
Everyday life that always makes me smile.
Though, I’ve never played any marble games,
Of which there are many variations,
I did collect those fascinating spheres
As a girl—the prettier the better—
Of course. Where those marbles are now is
Something I do not know, but I have found
A few in my yard when digging in the
Dirt. Only a few children have lived in
This house but none in more than 35
Years. I wonder if any of them lost those
I’ve found, or if they’d been here even longer.

If you’d like to participate in the poetry challenge, you can find the photo for the following week each Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. While there, I strongly recommend reading Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and he is a masterful poetry craftsmancat. Also check out the Comments for links to poems by other bloggers. Thankful Thursday

Thursday is also the day when we list the things for which we are thankful. Truthfully, I count my blessings every single day, but writing them down is validation and a good reminder when daily life is particularly challenging. And I doubt any of you would argue when I express that this is one of the most challenging times of our lives. I know it has been and continues to be for me.

We have hearts full of gratitude at the House of Blue Cats for the 24 peaceful days Sawyer enjoyed between his last two seizures. He had a seizure Monday afternoon, and unfortunately bit Dad Tom, who had to get a tetanus shot and antibiotics, but that three-and-a-half week break was a miracle and a blessing. We all have our paws crossed that he can have another extended break before the next seizure.

Mau and Cooper Murphy have a thankful this week as well. They took first place in the Cat Scouts 4th of July boat decorating contest. Their little dinghy was barely sea worthy, and they are pretty darn thankful they didn’t sink. To be honest, the winner was selected in a random draw, but I am not going to tell them that. And I got some cute note cards as a prize.

Dad Tom and I, and especially Mau, are thankful that he is eating more and feeling better. Though not yet with regularity, he is back to meowing stories and occasionally presenting us with a toy.

Finally, Dad Tom and I continue to be healthy for which we are extremely grateful. We are especially thankful to live in a state as well as an area of our state where cases remain somewhat low. As far as we know, all our friends and family are healthy as well.

We continue to pray that each of you is following social distancing and CDC guidelines.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, post on your blog for what you are thankful, and then click on the badge below to add you link over at Brian’s Home.
