SPARK OF GRATITUDE

Sparks

I had a quiet and delightful Mother’s Day. We were, of course, at home. I read, rode Peloton, colored on my iPad and snuggled with kitties.

Grateful for my relaxing day, I thought a Spark of gratitude would be pertinent. This Spark also seemed appropriate for the current circumstances of our lives with regard to the coronavirus pandemic.

I was unfamiliar with the author of today’s Spark, William Arthur Ward. Ward lived from 1921 to 1994 and was a writer of inspirational maxims. More than 100 articles, poems and meditations written by Ward were published in such magazines as Reader’s Digest. His column “Pertinent Proverbs” was published by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and in American service club publications. He was a frequently quoted writer in Quote, an international weekly digest for public speakers.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Awww Mondays

My Mother’s Day companions, Mau, Cooper Murphy and Astrid, are joining the Aww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Stinky’s week to plan and post their adventure, so look for them right here tomorrow. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing all of you.

MAU’S MOTHER’S DAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #300

I feel honored to be your host for Mother’s Day and the 300th post of our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Mother's Day 2020

Of course, I am representing all Kitties Blue in wishing our special mom and all moms (including my wonderful mother-in-law Sharon) a Happy Mother’s Day. My furblings and I colored a special bouquet for them as well.

Mother's Day 2020

It is now time for you to share your selfies. I know those of you with moms will make them very happy if you make your selfie extra special. Remember, all anipals are welcome, regardless of species, and it is not necessary to post on Sunday to join the hop. It remains open through Thursday. If you could post our selfies badge or link back to The Cat on My Head, we’d be most appreciative.

And, please, don’t forget to give your mom lots of extra love, purrs and cuddles today. Showering her with even more attention than you normally would for Mother’s Day can only work in your favor when it comes to treat time.

Purrs and paw-pats, Mau (with love and kisses to Allie)

p.s. We just found out about this graphic from the Cat Blogosphere.  Thank you!

TABBIES ARE THE STARS OF CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

I used a photo of Cooper Murphy and Sawyer on the catio for today’s art. Dad Tom gave them a paper bag (with the handles cut). Cooper scurried into the bag before Sawyer could even get to it. Sawyer tried to join him, but that bag was only big enough for one 19-pound cat.

As usual I used Painnt and piZap to create my art. The effect I used from Painnt is Marvelian, and the stars are from piZap.

The tabby boys are joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty.  If you’d like to join them, check out Athena’s art or find links to art by other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #207

Time to do some belated filling in for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted on Fridays by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Kitties Blue passed off all four fill-ins to me this week. I have used teal italics for my completions.

To participate in the hop, click on the badge at the left.

1. I just finished reading a book entitled Tuesday’s Child by Dale Mayer.

2. I am hoping to start enjoying our pool/spa soon; though, we are having a cold snap, and I am waiting to have new pumps installed.

3. Meeting goals I set for myself is my idea of success.

4. When I can’t sleep, I poke Dad Tom, as it is usually because he is snoring.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Here in the U.S. tomorrow is Mother’s Day. We cannot think of a better time for you to take a fabulous selfie as a gift to your mom. In addition to that, tomorrow will be the 300th post of Sunday Selfies, and you definitely don’t want to miss the opportunity to participate on that occasion. We are totally grateful to each of you who join us every week, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

BELATED THANKFULS & POEM

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday on Friday

As we promised yesterday, when we preempted our Thursday post for Tyebe’s Gotcha Day Party, we are posting our poem today for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge.

Here’s the inspiration photo followed by my poem.

Too Much of a Good Thing

Me oh my…so much pie!
What have I done
Eating every last one?
I was promised a prize,
But it was just a big ole lie.
I knew I had a big appetite
And thought I might win a new bike.
This paper crown ain’t nothin’,
But this pain in my gut is somethin’.
I guess I learned a valuable lesson…
With this much pie I won’t be messin’,
Unless I have a written guarantee
That the prize is nothing less than a pony.

If you’d like to play along and write a poem for next week, check out the Thursday post at Two Spoiled Cats by clicking on the above badge. You will find next week’s inspiration photo, as well as Angel Sammy’s poem based on this week’s photo. He is an accomplished poet, and everything he writes is worth your time to read it.

Thankful Thursday on Friday

We are a day late as well for this important blog hop hosted by Brian. It is important to count or blessing each week regardless of the day on which we post.

Cooper has the first thankful this week. Tyebe (The Canadian Cats) said, “yes,” and she is now officially his girlfriend. He’s never been happier. He’d also like to thank those who came to Tyebe’s Gotcha Day Party on our blog.

Dad Tom and I are thankful that the CBD oil I ordered for Sawyer arrived yesterday. I will be getting him started on it today. He had seizures on both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, so I am praying the addition of the CBD to his other medications will help to limit the frequency and number of his seizures. Of course, I will keep everyone posted on how this goes.

Finally, we remain grateful to be virus free as, to the best of our knowledge, do our family and friends.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Friday is Fill-Ins blog hop day, but we will be combining those with our Caturday Art post. By Sunday we should be back on track with our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, TYEBE

Pawty Time

Today is an extra special day. It is Tyebe’s (The Canadian Cats) second Gotcha Day. I have been waiting for this day for months and months. And here’s why.

I fell for Tyebe the first moment I saw her. She and I have been friends and enjoyed lots of events together at Cat Scouts.

I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend ages ago, but her mom said we could only be friends until she turned two. I am pretty certain she is going to say, “yes,” but I am still nervous.

While I await her answer, let’s pawty.

We have appetizers, sparkling cider and cake. So please help yourselves.

And for Tyebe, I have a special card and some flowers.

I’d really like to thank you for celebrating with us today. Please visit Tyebe as well at her party at The Canadian Cats and wish her a Happy Gotcha Day there.

Purrs and paw-pats, Cooper Murphy aka Gingersnap or Snap (with whisker kisses for Tyebe)

p.s. We will be moved back a day due to this special post. We will post our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday/Thankful Thursday post tomorrow and include Friday Fill-Ins with Caturday Art.

ASTRID & MAU ARE AWWWDORABLE

Sparks

Most of us have had no choice in the current direction of our lives, and some days acceptance is nearly impossible, making patience and faith essential to survival.

This is the third time I have used a quote from Ralph Marston for my Spark. Marston was a football player who attended Boston University. He spent a season as a professional in the National Football League in 1929 with the Boston Bulldogs as a quarterback.

This photo of one of my flower beds was taken by Dad Tom.

Astrid loves her big brother, Mau. Sometimes he barely tolerates her, but at other times he gives her the comfort and protection she craves. Feel free to squee.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

This fun-loving, tabby duo will return tomorrow with the next installment in their adventure series. It is Periwinkle’s week to post, so look for them over at Friends Furever. I know both Periwinkle and Stinky will be looking forward to seeing you there tomorrow.

LOAFIN’ SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #299

When it comes to loafin’, there is no better day than Sunday. And no kitty does it better than I do. I am the champion. It is my go-to position, which you’d see if you look back through old blog posts. None of the other Kitties Blue do it as often or as well as I do.

Time to Hop

I bet you didn’t expect that to come so quickly. But not only am I a terrific loafer, I also am a cat of few words.

You can link up your selfie below. And you don’t even have to post today to participate. If you can display our badge or link back to us, that would be great. Finally, if you want to invite your friends to join in the fun, all the other Kitties Blue and I would be so thankful. After all, this is a great place to make new friends.

Thanks to all who continue to join us every week as well as to any newbies.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lisbeth (with love & kisses for my special guy, Charles)

CATURDAY ART WITH TWO VERSIONS OF COOPER MURPHY

Did You Miss Us?

We always join the Feline Friday and Friendly Fill-Ins blog hops on Fridays. But, you may have noticed, we were missing yesterday.

Thursday evening, Sawyer had another gran mal seizure. Mom felt so down and defeated, she just didn’t want to write a post for us. She is going to include the Friendly Fill-Ins at the end of this post.

With Sawyer’s seizures now coming closer together, Mom has finally decided to try CBD oil for Sawyer along with his current medications. Once it arrives and he’s been on it for a little while, she’ll report on how our little fellow is doing.

Caturday Art

Mom selected a squinty photo of me from the catio, that Dad took, for art this week. She used Painnt and piZap again and is including two versions of the art, as she couldn’t decide which she likes best. They both were made with the Techno Lights effect. The first is the original. The second has the grain merge filter added. The borders are from piZap.

If you have a favorite, let me know in the Comments.

I  am joining Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty on her Caturday Art blog hop. If you’d like to see the art Athena’s mom created or find links to art by other bloggers, click on her badge, which is above.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #206

We are a day late for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The sentences to be filled in can be found each Thursday on both their blogs. If you decide to participate, the filled-in sentences should be posted on Friday, which we didn’t do this week. To enter the blog hop, click on the badge at the left. It will take you to Four-Legged Furballs.

In addition to being the subject of today’s art, I also am completing the fill-ins. My fill-ins are in orange italics. Explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. It is important to learn how to get along with your furblings, in order to not upset your humans.

2.When I was first rescued, I was obsessed with food. (I still am, but I have managed to lose a little weight, which makes Mom and Dad happy.)

3. I feel fortunate about having such a great home, humans, food and a catio.

4. My lucky number is 2. (We get canned food as well as treats twice each day.)

Sunday Selfies Reminder

If you are a regular Sunday hopper, thank you so much. If you have never joined us on Sunday, we’d love for you to give it a try. We pets are the cutest animals on the internet, so why not take the opportunity to show off a little with a selfie.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Purrs & paw-pats, Cooper Murphy
