COOPER MURPHY, HIS FEATHER & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #200

It’s time for the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The sentences to be filled in can be found each Thursday on both their blogs. If you decide to participate, the filled-in sentences should be posted on Friday. To enter the blog hop, click on the badge at the left. It will take you to Four-Legged Furballs.

I completed all four sentences this week with no help from the resident pack of eight, lazy bums, AKA Kitties Blue. My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. Lately, I have done a lot of physical therapy.

2. My family are all in a California.

3. I can’t help but fall in love with every kitten and cat I see.

4. When I meet a stranger, my response depends on their body language and vibe. In most cases I smile and am friendly. I will talk to just about anybody.

Feline Friday

Cooper Murphy is back today with another peacock feather, play session photo. Though I managed to cut off one ear, part of the other and part of his head, I could not resit sharing this photo. He has the cutest expression on his face.

DREAMING OF THE FUTURE & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday again and time to enter Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. I look forward to doing this every week. If you are not familiar with Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, click on the badge at the left to read more about it. In a nutshell, however, each Thursday the boys post a photo to act as inspiration for a poem to be posted the following week.

This week’s photo as well as my poem are below.

Dreaming of the Future

This reminds me of my favorite holiday locale;
Though, a recent hurricane did not
Spare the island when it made landfall.
I do not know if I will travel there again,
But I do hope to find a way, as my
Memories are growing rather thin.
This would be the time to hideaway,
Alone on the deserted beach,
Where the virus has not come to stay.
The news, the DOW, all left behind.
Just warm breezes and ocean to enjoy
With nothing heavy weighing on my mind.
I believe I will dream of this tonight
And no matter the news when I awake,
I will keep visions of this place in sight
Until all our lives are normal again
With jobs restored, money to spend
And hours and hours to spend with friends.

The island I refer to in my poem is Tortola, BVI, on which Dad Tom and I have spent many vacations. I truly wish we were there now.

Even if you are not interested in writing poetry, make certain you visit Two Spoiled Cats to read Angel Sammy’s poem.He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge, and it is always exceptional, as he is a total master of the craft.

Thankful Thursday

It has become a tradition each week to not only write a poem but also to enter the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian. Even with the current state of the world and our economy, we can always find something for which to be thankful.

This week we are grateful that Southwest Virginia (where we live) has no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus. Like the rest of the country, everything is closed and we are following the CDC’s recommendations, but we feel very fortunate at this point. We also are thankful that, to our knowledge, our friends and family are well. We are concerned for Dad Tom’s nephew who is an emergency room physician in Los Angeles, but we are certain he is taking every precaution to remain safe.

With all the uncertainty about the virus and the economy, Dad Tom and I are extremely grateful for all the laugh-out-loud jokes and memes on Facebook, especially those about home schooling.

Mom is thankful for a special St. Patrick’s Day First Commenter badge from the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. She is sharing it with three others, including our in-laws at Friends Furever.

Periwinkle & Stinky are over the moon and filled with thanks for those who visited on Tuesday and read their latest adventure. If you missed it, click on their names to visit their post.

Mau and Cooper Murphy are thankful for completing the requirements and passing the quiz necessary to earn their Frogs and Toads Merit Badge at Cat Scouts.

Finally the entire Blue clan, both kitties and humans, are grateful that Sawyer had a 13-day span between his last two seizures.

Everyone please stay safe and healthy.

THE ADVENTURES OF STINKY & PERIWINKLE PART XXIII

The Tabbies Share an Unconventional St. Patrick’s Day

Periwinkle arrived at Sawyer’s with the usual whoosh, as she emerged from her teleportation tunnel. As they shared oodles of whisker kisses, Periwinkle and Stinky were grateful they did not need to practice social distancing.

Sawyer then told Periwinkle they would be staying at his house. “Periwinkle, I had planned a fabulous adventure for us today, which included traveling to Chicago for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and festivities. But everything has been canceled, including dying the river green,” explained Stinky. He continued, “So, I have planned a quiet day at my house.”

“What are we going to do, Stinky?” Periwinkle asked.

“Mom and Dad are lending us their iPads so we can do something our moms enjoy,” replied Stinky.

“Oh boy, are we going shopping on Amazon for treats and toys?” asked Periwinkle.

Stinky chuckled to himself, thinking that Periwinkle was just like any other girl who enjoyed shopping. “No,” he replied. Stinky told her they would be coloring using the Happy Color app on the iPads.

Periwinkle replied, “Well, it sounds a bit boring, but as long as I am with you, I am happy.”

Stinky visibly blushed, but hid that from Periwinkle as he went to get the iPads.

When he returned with the tablets, Stinky also had some fun St. Patrick’s Day hats for them to wear as well as a cloth printed with shamrocks for them to sit on while they colored.

“What would you like to color, Periwinkle?” Stinky asked.

After thinking for a few minutes, Periwinkle asked if there were any lizards on the app.

Stinky replied that he had seen one just a few days ago, and found it for Periwinkle. Then he explained that as they had no thumbs to hold the stylus, they would have to use their paws.

As Periwinkle began dabbing at her picture, Stinky started looking on the other tablet for a picture for himself. Finally Stinky found exactly what he was looking for…a mousie. His mom had already colored it, but he erased that.

He told Periwinkle, “My brofur and I have been stalking a mousie under the stove, but he won’t show himself. It is very frustrating”

As Stinky began tapping at the colors and the picture, Periwinkle told him how she had wanted to bring him the last lizard she caught, but her mom wouldn’t let her. She did share a burry photo of a partially chewed and obviously deceased lizard.

Stinky complimented Periwinkle on her exceptional hunting skills, and it was her turn to blush.

As they continued with their project, Stinky said,”You know, Periwinkle, this is very relaxing. This would be a good pastime for people who are quarantined due to the the virus. It could help keep them occupied and calm.

Periwinkle replied, “That’s a good idea, Stinky.”

At that point, they shared their half-colored pictures with each other.

The coloring went very slowly, and the tabbies chatted about places they would like to go for future adventures. They realized they would probably need to have home or outside adventures for a long while ahead, as they didn’t want to suspend their weekly get togethers.

The tabbies finished their individual pictures and shared them with each other and Stinky’s mom, who praised them for their hard work and beautiful creations.

As they had time before Periwinkle had to depart for home, the tabbies decided to select a simple picture they could color together. They, of course, selected a cat.

“Wow, we work really well together, Stinky,” said Periwinkle.

“We sure do,” he replied.

Periwinkle and Stinky were pretty tired after finishing their coloring and decided to take a nap.

When they woke up, they found that Stinky’s mom had fixed a snack for them of Fancy Feast and some Temptations. Stinky’s food had his meds in it. He didn’t want Periwinkle or his humans to scold him, so he licked his bowl clean. Periwinkle did the same with hers.

After helping each other wash up, it was time for Periwinkle to return home. As usual, among tears, paw hugs and whisker kisses, the two tabbies said their farewells. When Periwinkle entered her tunnel, she turned and both kitties blew kisses at each other.

The End

Stinky, Periwinkle and the Kitties Blue wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

SAWYER PRESENTS A SPARK FROM BUDDHA

Sparks/Awww Mondays

Today’s Spark is from Buddha and is being brought to you by Sawyer. Sorry he could not stay awake for it. Once he finishes presenting the Spark, he will be joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join him click on the badge.

CDC Guidelines

I selected today’s Spark as a reminder to follow CDC guidelines in order to remain virus free during the current pandemic. And I selected Sawyer to present it, as he knows how important it is to follow his treatment plan. He’s been great about eating all his noms, which is where we put his meds. Even so, our little guy had a seizure Sunday afternoon. But there is good news. Thirteen days had passed since his last one.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, our favorite tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, will be off on another adventure. We will be posting the adventure tomorrow, and they have their paws crossed you will join them.

GINGER GOODNESS SELFIE & REMEMBERING ARTHUR

Sunday Selfies: Week #292

As promised in yesterday’s post, I am here in all my ginger goodness to host our Sunday Selfies blog hop. I apologize for my right ear being obscured by the countertop. The photo also is a bit out of focus. (I take after my mom when it comes to my lack of photographic skills.) My hope is that my soon-to-be girlfriend, the gorgeous Tyebe from The Canadian Cats, will like the selfie, as I took it just for her.

Remembering Arthur

On March 8, a dear friend and Sunday Selfie pawticipant, Arthur, from My Cats and Funny Stories, received his angel wings. Arthur was still handsome at nearly 18 years old and had a wonderful life with his family in Belgium.

Arthur’s mom wrote a special memorial post for him with many beautiful photos. If you have not read it or left your condolences, click on Arthur’s photo to go to that post.

Rest in Peace, Arthur. You will be missed.

Hopping Time

It’s now your turn to link up your selfie and share your adorableness with all your admirers. Remember, you do not need to post on Sundays to join the hop, and all anipals are welcome regardless of species.

Thanks so much for hopping with us and being our friends and followers.

Purrs and paw-pats, Cooper Murphy

PREPAREDNESS IS NOT HOARDING

Caturday Art

Kitties Blue are not making fun of the seriousness of the COVID-19 virus, but they are snickering behind their backs at humans hoarding toilet paper. Their humans, however, do have enough kitty noms on hand for a month. After all, keeping the felines happy is always a top priority.

All eight of Kitties Blue are joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you would like to join them or find art by other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Your host tomorrow will be that handsome, ginger cat, Cooper Murphy. Kitties Blue and I believe that every cat and all animals are handsome, beautiful, cute, unique and photogenic, so we look forward to hosting our hop and seeing your sweet faces every week. So, please join us again tomorrow.

MAU CONFESSES & COOPER PLAYS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #199

On Fridays we enjoy participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Lorianne from Four-Legged Furballs. It’s a fun way to learn a bit more about your blogging friends. If you’d like to take part in the hop, you can find the sentences to be filled in each Thursday on both blogs. To enter the hop, click on the badge at the left.

I coerced Mau into helping me with the fill-ins, so he would have to confess his recent transgressions.

We both used teal italics for our fill-ins. Any explanatory info is in parentheses.

1. I know I am sick when I do not have the energy to get out of bed.

2. For St. Patrick’s Day, I usually try to wear green, as I am half Irish, but I have never done anything special to celebrate it.

3. It’s been a long time since I have been out of the country.

4. Mauricio: In order to sneak out at night you have to learn how to move the barriers your humans place in front of the cat door and then pry the cover off. (I am in the dog house [MOL] right now, as I have been a hooligan and sneaking out of the house. Mom says, “The older I get, the bolder I get.” She and Dad and my beloved Allie are super disappointed in me. I have no excuse. I’m just being a stinker!)

Feline Friday with Cooper Murphy

Feline Friday

How do you like my peacock feather toupee? Mom and I were playing with one of the peacock feathers the Florida Furkids (Allie, Noelle and Raz) sent us for Christmas, and I got a little goofy.

I am pawticipating in the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join me, click on the badge below.

THE SECRET DOOR & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Another week has flown by, and we are back with a poem for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge, Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.

Here’s this week’s inspiration photo, followed by my poem.

Secret Door

Behind the secret door
Is a place I’d like to explore.
I bet I would find fairies there
Flitting and flying…without a care.
The flowers would all be exotic,
And there’d be music melodic.
I know, if I could just get inside,
There forever I’d want to reside.

If you would like to try your paw at writing poetry, a good site to look into is shadowpoetry.com. It lists every type of poetry imaginable with writing guidelines. Then check out Two Spoiled Cats on Thursday for the inspiration photo for the following week. And while there, please read Angel Sammy’s poem, which he transmits each week from the Rainbow Bridge. He is a top-notch poet, and his poems are always thoughtful and meowvolous!

Thankful Thursday

Mom and Dad and Sawyer are happy that he broke his six-day seizure streak. As Mom types this, he is at nine days. We all have our paws crossed that nothing happens before you read this.

Mom is thankful to have had the opportunity to work in the yard, and hopes to go back again today. After that, the rain and cooler temps will be returning for the next week.

Mom was super excited and grateful when she got two birthday shout outs on her Peloton ride last Saturday. It is always motivating when that happens.

We are all super duper thankful that Covid-19 has not come to our area. If any of you are in areas with outbreaks, please follow the appropriate measures to stay safe and keep your family and friends safe as well.

As always, we are grateful for our friends, followers and supporters. We do not want any of you to become ill.
