REMEMBERING MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WITH A SPARK

Sparks

With this being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I felt a quote from him would be appropriate, I had a difficult time selecting what I wanted to post, as King said so many things that rang true to me.

Martin Luther King Jr.

King was prophetic in so many of the things he said. Many of his quotes seem to be speaking directly to those in our government today.

The photo is one of Dad Tom’s. It was taken in North Carolina. Unfortunately Tom does not remember he name of the waterfall.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Reminder

Your two favorite, fun-loving tabbies will be here tomorrow for their next adventure. It is an extra special one that you don’t want to miss. Even if you are not followers of Periwinkle and Stinky’s adventure series, we truly hope you will join them tomorrow.

Awww Mondays

Misty May was having an afternoon snooze in a sunpuddle when this photo was taken. Calista Jo is in the rear in her go-to spot for a day-long snooze. Both kitties are joining the AWWW Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus.

MISTY MAY’S SELFIE FROM DAD TOM’S LAP

Sunday Selfies: Week #284

Sunday Selfies

I took my selfie sitting in Dad Tom’s lap. If he is sitting or lying down, I am all over him. Of course, I also spend time on Mom’s head or face during the night. I never like her to feel left out.

Anyhoo, it only took me two tries (unlike Astrid’s 20 or so of last week) to get this terrific photo of myself, looking lovingly at my dad.

I really don’t have anything else to say. I save all my caterwauling for yelling at Mom and Dad.

That means it is your turn to share your selfie or one of a friend if you’d rather. I’m not going to repeat all those hopping tips, but it would be terrific if you would link back to The Cat on My Head and share our badge.

We are so grateful to everyone who is a regular entrant in the hop. And of course, newbies are always welcome. This is a great place to meet and make new friends.

So that’s it!

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May (with kisses for a certain black, floofy man-cat)

AN EARLY VALENTINE FOR TYEBE

Caturday Art

More than a few of you know that I have a special friend. Her name is Tyebe, and she is a member of The Canadian Cats. I think and dream about her all the time, so I asked Mom to make some special Caturday Art just for her. This is the version for Tyebe.

Below is the interim version of the art.

As Mom does most weeks, she started with Painnt. She used the Cluster filter, changed the hue of the photo and applied the hardlight and analog effects.

For the Valentine, she added the “Words of Love” effect and lacy edge using Funny.Pho.to.

I hope everyone will find at least one of these arty creations to their liking.

I am joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join in, click on her badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Misty May will be your host tomorrow for our blog hop. In fact, she has already taken her selfie. She thought if she let a certain man cat know she’d be here tomorrow, he would stop by to see her. Whether he does or doesn’t join the hop, we sure hope to see all our regulars. And new faces are always welcome. Making new friends is so much fun!

Until tomorrow…Cooper Murphy signing off with purrs and paw-pats.

A DREAM COME TRUE!

Feline Friday

I normally begin my Friday posts with Fill-Ins, but I am flipping things today, as the photos I am sharing are special.

All these photos were taken last night as Sawyer snoozed in my lap! I have to admit that I was pretty darn jealous when Sawyer curled up in Dad Tom’s lap a couple of nights ago. But last night he selected my lap, and he even allowed me to pet him while he was there. Best evening ever since Sawyer joined our family!

Sawyer is joining th Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. You can go there by clicking the badge below.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #191

Friendly Fill-Ins is hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each select two sentences for participants to complete. If you’d like to play along, click on the badge at the left. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog, where you can enter the link to your post.

The sentences to be completed can be found on both blogs each Thursday.

I have filled in using teal italics. Any explanatory info is in parentheses.

1. I could not live my life without cats.

2. A simple pleasure I enjoy is snuggling with Kitties Blue.

3. If I could change one thing about myself, I wouldn’t. (I would have liked to have lived my life without my neuro-muscular disease, but after 70 years it is part of what makes me who I am.)

4. A person without his/her face “glued” to their cellular device is hard to find these days.

Sorry I didn’t do any visiting yesterday. We were without power for most of the day!

THURSDAY POETRY & THANKS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

As I do every week, I have written a poem for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry challenge. The inspiration photo and my poem are below.

First Haircut

Looking all grown up
With your first big boy haircut…
Maybe you will no longer be mistaken
For a girl without your head full of curls.
Do you recognize the toddler in the mirror
Or do you think it’s a new friend
Come to have his haircut too?
I will miss your childish look but will add
A lock of hair to your baby book.
I wish this milestone could somehow last.
As I know you will grow up much too fast.

© Janet Buickerood Blue – 01/15/2020

Each Thursday, Mom Pam (Two Spoiled Cats) posts a photo to serve as inspiration for a poem to be posted on our blogs the following Thursday. If you haven’t tried writing poetry, it’s a great way to stretch your imagination. An excellent site to check out with guidelines for writing every type of poem is Shadow Poetry.

Check out next week’s inspiration photo by clicking on the badge at the left. Then look into Shadow Poetry and see if you can write a poem for next week.

While visiting Teddy and Angel Sammy, make certain you read Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge, and it is always a winner. You’ll also find links in the Comments section to poems by other bloggers.

Thankful Thursday

Joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian also is a weekly tradition. It’s a good way to remind oneself that even if our life is handing us some difficult challenges, we can always find something for which to be thankful.

Everyone in the Blue household is thankful for Sawyer currently being 16 days seizure free as well as for all those who pray for him and send POTP. And if you saw our post from yesterday, you already know Dad Tom and I are super thankful that our little guy is starting to trust us and is less standoffish and grumpy. It’s been a long time coming.

I am thankful this week that I was one of four first commenters on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. I shared the honors with three others, including Mom Sharon from our extended family at Friends Furever. We all received this cool badge.

Finally, as we are everyday, Kitties Blue and I are thankful for all our friends and followers.

If you’d like to join the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, post for what you are thankful on your blog and then click on Brian’s badge to enter your link on his post.

Thanks for stopping by to see us. We’ll be back tomorrow to join the Friendly Fill-Ins and Feline Friday blog hops.

BREAKING NEWS & IT’S HUGE!

Wordless Wednesday with Several Words

Breaking News

Last night, Sawyer crawled into Dad Tom’s lap and went to sleep right after this photo was taken. This has never happened previously. Sawyer has been voluntarily curling up next to us at to night to sleep for a very long time. Recently, he has been seeking us out during the day and snuggling. But never has he actually crawled into either of our laps!

I took this second photo while I was writing this post.

Breaking News

It’s taken a little more than two years, but it seems as if our little whippersnapper has finally decided to trust us and even maybe likes us. Gives Dad Tom and I warm and fuzzy feelings!

I always hate to write or say it out loud, but Monday was two weeks since Sawyer’s last seizure. (Lately, he has been having a seizure every week.) Praying he doesn’t have one prior to you reading this.

Though I have been wordy here, Sawyer is going to join the Wordless Wednesday blog hop at Comedy Plus.

WE’RE ALL FABULOUS!

Sparks

I could not think of a better Kitty Blue to represent this Spark. To us, he is a true superhero. If you doubt that, check out this post: Supercat Sawyer.

When I am not familiar with the author of our Spark, I like to tell you a bit about that person. Unfortunately, I found two individuals named Judy Davis. One Judy Davis is a British actress and one is an American equestrian and Olympian. I could imagine either of them saying this.

Remembering Angel Prancie

On yesterday’s Sunday Selfies post, we had planned to remember and honor our friend Prancie, from 15 And Meowing. She received her wings and flew off to the Bridge this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, Astrid forgot to include that part of the post. So I am including it here today.

Prancie was a sweet and patient cat, allowing Mom Ellen’s niece, “The Great One,” to dress her up for any and all occasions. And Prancie became famous when her Mom wrote about her in Prancie’s Prayer. It is a must read, and we highly recommend it.

Recently Tabby Cat Club Reporter, Teddy, wrote about her for the TCC newsletter. You can read that article, if you are interested by clicking here.

Prancie, you were greatly loved and will be missed and remembered always.

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky Reminder

Your two favorite, fun-loving tabbies will embark on their next adventure tomorrow. You’ll be able to find them at Friends Furever. I know they hope you’ll be able to take some time out of your day to join them.

ASTRID FINALLY GETS IT RIGHT (ALMOST)

Sunday Selfies: Week #283

I was enjoying some nice snuggle time with Mom yesterday when she asked me to do the selfie. It wasn’t part of my plans for the day, but I didn’t want to give up on snuggle time. So…I complied. Unfortunately, it ended up being about 20 selfies. I continued to close my eyes and/or look away. The final result isn’t too bad; though, I am still looking away.

I am just hoping that Sampy (Kitty Cat Chronicles) likes my photo.

Time to Hop

I know most of you are A+ selfie takers, and the other Kitties Blue and I are anxious to see what you have for us today. Remember, all anipals are welcome to enter the hop regardless of species. So if you aren’t feeling it today, see if you can convince that bird, squirrel, lizard or whatever animal is outside your window to take your place. We know not all of our friends can join us every week, but we sure appreciate it when you do. Hope to see lots of you here when I get up in the morning.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with love and oodles of kisses for Sampy)

Oops

Mom just looked at my post at 12:35 a.m. and saw that I hadn’t posted our remembrance of Prancie (15 And Meowing), who received her wings on Wednesday. My bad! Please forgive me. Mom says that she will do it for me tomorrow on her Sparks post.

GIULIETTA IN TINY PIECES

Caturday Art

The elusive Giulietta is here today to join the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty.

I created her arty portrait using the Tiny Pieces filter in Painnt and added the “hard light” from color composition. The blue lace border is from piZap.

If you’d like to take part in Athena’s hop, click on her badge.

Giulietta is a cat of few meows, so we are keeping this short today.

But we won’t leave you without our usual reminder to put on your best smile and join us tomorrow on our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Kitties Blue are looking forward to having you on the hop!

FILL-INS, FELINES & FRIENDSHIP FEATURING ASTRID

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #190

Friendly Fill-Ins is hosted by Ellen* (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each select two sentences for participants to complete. If you’d like to play along, click on the badge at the left. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog, where you can enter the link to your post.

The sentences to be completed can be found on both blogs each Thursday.

I have filled in using teal italics, without any help his week from Kitties Blue.

1. When I am feeling “down,” I eat dark chocolate, peanut M&Ms.

2. I want to have cats in my life for as long as I am on this earth.

3. No one knows me better than Dad Tom.

4. Will Sawyer have a seizure today? is a thought that crosses my mind often.

* Ellen’s Prancie received her wings on Wednesday, so Ellen will not be participating in Fill-Ins this week. She also will be taking a bit of a break from posting. If you have not had the opportunity to leave your condolences for Ellen and husband David, click on the link in the first paragraph.

We will remember Prancie on our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Feline Friday

Astrid is joining the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus and the Friendship Friday blog hop at Create With Joy from the cat tree in the bedroom. (She wasn’t too happy about being disturbed and refused to look up.) To join her, click on the badges below.
