THANK YOU, FRIENDS

Sparks

I wouldn’t survive without the love and support of my friends. Thank you!

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Please continue to send prayers to Annie and her family as they work to get their lives back to normal.

Many of us believe in Annie’s vision: “If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Awww Mondays

Cooper Murphy is back today for the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. I can’t resist using him for this hop, as its host, Sandee, loves seeing him. And I think he is always awww-adorable.

CURLY WHISKERS SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #268

Mom always has a good giggle when she sees my whiskers. They didn’t always look like I just had a perm. Mom thinks they have developed their peculiar look due to my penchant for curling up in a ball and spending most of my time in the hidey hole of our little cat tree.

Though these are my real whiskers, I did ask Mom to do some magic with my photo and remove the freckle in my right eye. It has gotten larger and is very distracting. If she hadn’t taken it out, you probably wouldn’t even notice my whiskers.

I hope you enjoyed seeing me. I know I am really excited about seeing the selfies of all our friends as well as any newbies who might join the hop.

Before I sign off, here are those hopping tips.

Blog Hop

If you are a new visitor to The Cat on My Head or to blog hops, here are a few tips for joining in and linking up.

TUXIE ANGEL ART

Caturday Art

I made a deep dive into my photo archives for today’s Caturday Art photo. It was taken in July, 2008, four years prior to the existence of The Cat on My Head.

This is Daphne. She was cat #3 of our 19. I selected this photo, as I like how Daphne’s eyes look in the original, which is below.

As I do most weeks, I used the Painnt app and piZap to create the art. The Painnt effect is Burnin’ Love. After applying that, I changed the hue and used hard light in Color Composition.

Here’s the original photo of Daphne. She was sitting in my lap when the photo was taken. Daphne was 17 years old at the time. She passed away in my arms two years later at the age of 19.

Angel Daphne is hopping over to join the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join or find art by other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Your host for tomorrow has been determined. In fact, she has already snapped her selfie. It will be the elusive Giulietta. And it’s a darn cute photo, so I think you need to come by and see it. And while you are visiting, don’t forget to add your selfie to the blog hop. Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing all our fabulous friends tomorrow.

FILL-INS, GOOD-BYE & A BELLY

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #176

It’s Friday, which means it is time for weekly fill-ins. Hosted by Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs), this is a fun blog hop. It gives participants the opportunity to learn a bit more about each other. To participate, check out either Ellen or Lorianne’s blog on Thursday to find the sentences to be filled in. To join the blog hop, click on the badge at the left. The hop takes place at Four-Legged Furballs.

Once again, I managed to complete all four of this week’s fill-ins without needing to enlist the help of any of the Kitties Blue. My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. I think it would be fun to go tubing.

2. I have a hankering for pie. (I always have a hankering for pie.)

3. Tom and I being forgotten and left at the chapel after getting married, while everyone else went to our wedding reception, is a memory I will never forget.

4. If I were given the choice to be immortal, I would not take it unless Dad Tom had the same opportunity.

Saying Good-Bye

Before going on to our Feline Friday photo, Kitties Blue and I would like to acknowledge the loss of Ellen’s lovely girl, Noel. Ellen has been taking some time off from blogging to spend with ailing Noel. Two days ago, Noel was helped to the bridge. Our prayers go out to Ellen, David and the family as they grieve her loss.

Feline Friday – Not a Trap

With Calista Jo, what you see is what you get. If you want to pet that tummy, go right ahead. Snorgling? I really don’t know. If you decide to go for it, let me know what happens.

C.J. is purrticipating in the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join her. click on the badge below.

REMEMBER ME THURSDAY WITH POEM BY SAWYER

Uniting the World for Orphan Pets

We are joining Remember Me Thursday® 2019 and have lit a candle at RememberMeTursday.org for all pets waiting to find their furever homes.

Remember Me Thursday

Right: Cooper Murphy lights candles & reminds everyone to Opt to Adopt.

Now going into its seventh year, Remember Me Thursday® is a global awareness campaign aimed at uniting individuals and pet adoption organizations around the world to be an unstoppable, integrated voice for orphan pets in need of forever homes.

The Remember Me Thursday® encourages individuals to light a candle this day (literally or virtually) and to opt to adopt, reducing the millions of orphan pets euthanized each year.

Candles lit on this day (the fourth Thursday of September annually) across the world honor the pets who lose their lives without the opportunity to know the comforts of a loving home. These candles shine brightly on the millions of healthy pets who are still awaiting adoption.

According to the Remember Me Thursday® website, “In the previous six years of the campaign, 180 countries supported the movement with hundreds of thousands of individuals and more than 700 separate animal welfare organizations around the globe holding candle-lighting ceremonies of their own, spreading the message on social media, visiting the Remember Me Thursday website, or lighting a virtual candle.”

As this is Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, Sawyer has written a poem. He hopes that Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats) won’t mind that it has no relationship to this week’s inspiration photo.

Lucky Cat

My name is Sawyer and I’m a tough little dude.
I’ve tons of moxie and a can-do attitude.
I am a Manx cat, which means I have no tail.
I’m also a grey tabby cat and a male.

I was found on the deck at a vacant house,
Living off of bugs and the occasional mouse.
Less than three pounds I weighed when I was found.
I thank God I wasn’t taken to the pound.

I was brought to a house on Thanksgiving weekend.
I didn’t know for myself I’d no longer need to fend.
I also didn’t know there were eight other cats
Or I’d be living a life only my wildest dreams could surpass.

When I was allowed to mingle, I made friends with a calico.
Her name was Lily Olivia and she was very old.
She died a couple months later as a matter of fact.
She was almost nineteen and, like me, a rescued cat,

I can only dream of becoming such a revered senior,
As I have a seizure disorder and my prognosis is poor.
It is hard to be just two years old and afflicted this way
And need to take medicine four times each day.

My seizures can be very scary.
Never knowing when one will happen makes Mom wary.
I’ve had a few that my humans were unable to stop,
Then into the car we have all had to hop.

My dad then drives us to the emergency vet
To get me stable and back home to rest.
Where with any luck I’ll have some quiet days
To spend on the catio and at the birdies gaze.

I have a big brother named Cooper Murphy.
He’s a huge ginger tabby and really quite goofy.
Like me he was rescued from living outside
When it was winter and snowing with no place to hide.

There are six more cats with whom I coexist.
Most are nice; while others are misfits.
They all can be a gigantic pain in my tush.
Nevertheless, I am one lucky puss.

I have a loving home in which to dwell
Where My life is grand and I’m treated swell.
And now I pray all animals can find good homes
And, like me, never again the streets have to roam.

Most of you know that all our cats have been rescued in one way or another. They were either strays living outside who just showed up at our house or the offspring of stray, pregnant cats taken in by friends. Only three were officially adopted from a rescue group (Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo). As I wrote recently, MacKenzie was adopted from a vet.

All of the Kitties Blue, past and present, Dad Tom and I join other pet-lovers, advocates and animal welfare organizations around the world in lighting a candle. Visit the link listed in the first paragraph to light your candle and learn more about Remember Me Thursday®. Or light your own candle at home. Just make certain it is either battery operated or in an area your pets cannot access.

When visiting the Remember Me Thursday® web-site, don’t miss out on the opportunity to win one of the prizes below for the rescue of your choice. Just follow the directions on their site to enter.

Thankful Thursday

This also is Thankful Thursday over at Brian’s Home blog. Kitties Blue and I are thankful everyday for the pet guardians, advocates, rescues, shelters and adopters worldwide. This is a blog hop. Click on Brian’s badge to participate.

GRATITUDE & JOY

Sparks

As I have done in the past, I am sharing an inspirational quote sent to me by my friend in California. She always seems to sense what I need and sends something appropriate. I hope it resonates with you as it did with me.

Awww Mondays

In spite of Mau’s claim yesterday that tuxie cats are the handsomest, everyone’s favorite ginger cat, Cooper Murphy, is back today for the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus.

No matter how much you might like to snorgle this boy’s chest, I advise against it, unless you want to be nipped. As Dad Tom always says, “It’s a trap!”

Autumn

Today is the first day of my favorite season. Unfortunately summer won‘t give up its grip on us. Yesterday was 90 degrees, and today is supposed to be 88 degrees. We have had the most ridiculously hot summer, and I want it to be over. I want to drink hot chocolate, snuggle with kitties and need to put on a hoodie.

Wherever you reside, Kitties Blue and I wish you a good week.

I NAILED IT!

Sunday Selfies: Week #267

I have no idea what all the fuss is about with regard to that huge, ginger cat who lives with us. I’ll admit he has a cute face, but so do I. If you ask me, tuxie cats are the most handsomest of all cats. When you see my selfie, I am certain you will agree.

Sunday Selfies

You’ll have to admit it. I am total purrfection! I already had my mom warn Allie‘s mom to make certain Allie is sitting in her lap when she sees this. She has a tendency to get light headed and even faint when she sees my handsome face. Okay, she is slightly prejudiced, but you must agree that she has pretty darn good taste.

Well…enough bragging. I really am not quite this self-centered, but I know a good looking cat when I see one.

I am looking forward to seeing your selfies, as I know they all will be purrfect as well.

Here’s those hopping tips you are sick to death of seeing. Blame our mom. I wouldn’t post them if she didn’t make me.

GINGERY GOODNESS – TWO VERSIONS

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy is hoping y’all are not getting tired of seeing him. Some of the Kitties Blue are much more amenable to having their photo taken. Of course, it helps if they are sleeping, as Cooper is in today’s art.

I am sharing two different versions of art today, as I cannot decide which I like best. If you have a favorite, let Cooper know in the Comments.

As I do most weeks, I used the Painnt app and piZap to create both versions. The base of both is the Darkside effect from Painnt with the coloring set on Summer. The white smudge border on both is from piZap and the second photo has piZap’s glitter effect at about 35 percent.

A couple of things really stood out for me in this photo, and one is the illusion that Cooper Murphy is floating above the background. He actually was asleep on Dad Tom’s and my bed.  I also am enamored with his pink nose and how the tip of his tail is standing upright. And, of course, there’s that tummy and those toesies.

Here’s the original photo for comparison.

Cooper Murphy is joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join him there or just check out art from other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

I am fairly certain that after more than five years of Sunday Selfies those of you who are regular participants do not need a reminder. But for those senior citizens, like myself, who often forget what day of the week it is, I will continue to give you a prod on Caturday to get your selfie taken for the following day. So…get your selfie taken for tomorrow. Then you won’t have to interrupt your Easy Sunday with a photo session.

SNUGGLE BUDDY ASTRID GOES HOPPING

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #175

It’s Friday, which means it is time for weekly fill-ins. Hosted by Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs), it is a fun way for participants to learn a bit more about each other. If you’d like to participate, you can find the sentences to be filled in on both Ellen and Lorianne’s blogs on Thursdays. To join the blog hop, click on the badge at the left. The hop takes place at Four-Legged Furballs.

I managed to complete all four of this week’s fill-ins without needing to enlist the help of any of the Kitties Blue. My fill-ins are in teal italics.

1. Never have I ever been sky diving; though, I really want to go in spite of being afraid of heights.

2. I won’t be involved in a home construction project ever again.

3. I believe I have good knowledge of the English language and grammar.

4. Poison ivy is my worst enemy.

Feline & Friendship Fridays
