A POEM & THANKFULS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Almost every week I try to join our friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats) for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. They provide an inspiration photo, and participants write a poem to accompany it. Here’s this week’s photo.

Sometimes I dive off the deep end with my poetry, but this week I stuck with a fairly literal interpretation. I did, however, manage to sneak a cat and kittens into my poem.

My Hair

It is bitter cold outside—
Snow and ice everywhere,
But I honestly don’t care.
“Why?”, you ask.
Well just look at my hair:
I have my own coat
and blanket all in one.
I can even hide my son.
I could skip my clothes,
Cover my front as well.
No one could ever tell.
Yes, it is heavy and a
pain to wash and comb,
But it’s my abundant hair
for which I’m known.
It comes in handy for many things
I can use it to sweep the floor
Or dry the dishes and
Ever so much more.
My cat had kittens in it,
And birds have nested as well.
I’ve never cut it even once,
And I know I never will.
It is my pride and joy,
As I am certain you can see.

Don’t forget to pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats (click on the badge at the top of the post) to read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy each week from the Rainbow Bridge. He is a truly terrific poet, so you don’t want to miss what he’s written. You also can find links to poems by other bloggers in the Comment section.

Thankful Thursday

This blog hop, hosted by Brian, is one we never miss. No matter how crazy our lives get here at the House of Blue Cats, we always can find something for which to be thankful.

I know everyone is sick to death of hearing about our construction project, but after next week (when I share photos), you will never have to hear about it again. We are 98 percent complete. When I looked in the mirror this morning, I appeared to have aged at least five years in the past one. I am overflowing with gratitude to be so close to completion and getting our lives back to normal. And I know Kitties Blue (except maybe Mr. Sociability, Cooper Murphy) will be thankful to have all the noise and commotion over and the strangers out of their house.

Dad Tom and I are always thankful when we can get Sawyer to eat and get his meds. He’s been very good the past couple of days. This week, we are thankful that Sawyer was just short by a few hours of making it an entire week without a seizure. He had a gran mal in the middle of the night Monday, but it stopped on it’s own, and was not followed by a second one as the past two were. This is the longest span between seizures in quite a while

Her he is enjoying a mid-day siesta. Well, he was until my photo taking woke him up.

As always, Kitties Blue and I are thankful to have so many wonderful and supportive blogging friends.

To join Brian’s hop, post for what you are thankful on your blog, then click on the badge below to be transported to his place.
