SNUGGLE BUDDIES & FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #159

Friendly Fill-Ins is a fun blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each Thursday, they post four sentences with blanks to be filled in by participants. The hop is held on Fridays at Four-Legged Furballs. To participate click on the badge at the left.

My completions are in teal italics.

1. I would love to be a personal assistant to Jackson Galaxy. If you are new to The Cat My Head and missed the posts based on my interview with Jackson Galaxy, here are the links to those posts.

2. If I had a boat, I would name it The Fabulous Fiona.

3. I want to improve my time management. I am easily distracted from whatever I am doing and lose track of time.

4. Surprises are sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Feline Friday

Cuddle buddies, Mau and Astrid, are joining the Feline Friday blog hop at Comedy Plus. Astrid adores her big brother. The two are hoping their respective spouses, Allie (Friends Furever) and Sampy (Kitty Cat Chronicles) won’t mind that they are doing a little snuggling together.

DOUBLE WIN & THANKFUL FOR PROGRESS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today’s inspirational photo for Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy’s, poetry challenge wasn’t overly inspiring for me. I probably could ave turned the writing duties over to Mauricio, and he would have come up with something amusing. Unfortunately, he (along with Cooper Murphy) was too busy writing a report and taking a test at Cat Scout University about hummingbirds. Boys got 100% on their test.

I whimped out and only have a haiku for you today.

Is that a spot there?
I looks like a speck of dust.
Do you think it’s art?

If you’d like to participate in Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, click on the badge above. You’ll find a photo to inspire you for next week’s challenge and a fabulous poem written by Sammy and transmitted from the Rainbow Bridge. And you can find links to poems by other bloggers in the Comment section.

Thankful Thursday

Recently, we’ve been doing pretty well on the Tuesday Teaser over at Two Spoiled Cats, which is unusual for us. Yesterday, however, was our best day ever with a double win. We are really thankful for this extra special badge from Professors Teddy and Angel Sammy. We’d also like to thank the Teaser Cheer Team for a most excellent cheer.

Wowzers…we didn’t expect this! It will get a place of honor on our sidebar.

Mom and Dad are thankful for some progress on the addition. Both the tile and hardwood floors have been laid. The bathroom cabinets have been installed and the tub surround is complete. Tiling is in process in the shower, and the siding installers finally arrived yesterday. Painters also were here yesterday.

Here’s a few progress photos.

Siding going on above the garage. This isn’t the final color. It will be painted.

Completed tub surround with shower in progress.

Shower with build-in bench.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To join, just post for what you are thankful, then click on the badge below to be magically transported to his blog.

MEMORIAL DAY SPARK

Sparks

As we celebrate Memorial Day and honor those service men, women and animals who have given their lives in the line of duty, I have selected what may seem to be an unusual Spark. It is not from an American president, politician or veteran. However, I found it appropriate. To me it speaks to why our troops defend our country and freedoms.

If you are unfamiliar with Begin, who was the sixth Prime Minister of Israel and shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Anwar Sadat in 1978, you can read more about him on Wikipedia.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Please continue to send prayers to Annie and her family as they work to get their lives back to normal.

Many of us believe in Annie’s vision: “If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Awww Mondays

In a more traditional photo for a cat blog on Memorial Day, Cooper Murphy is here to join the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. Click on the badge below Cooper’s photo to join the hop.

Memorial Day

To all of those who have lost friends and loved ones serving in the military, I send condolences and prayers. As you celebrate the holiday with the traditional picnics and bar-b-ques, take a moment to remember and thank our veterans and those currently serving in the military. Memorial Day is meant to remember those who died in combat, but all those who have served and are serving have earned our thanks and respect.

MISTY MAY CONFESSES

Sunday Selfies: Week #250

I know I fooled many of you with my snoozy photo on Friday into thinking I am a sweet girl. And I am…to our humans.

Today, however, after a few weeks of relative quiet co-existence, Astrid and I had a bit of a dust-up. I hadn’t puffed up my tail really big in a long time, and I have to say, “It felt great!” Mom is afraid this will now cause Astrid to retreat back into herself. I certainly hope so. She’s been taking too many liberties, like coming upstairs in the mornings and snuggling with Mom in the bed. And she’s been spending lots of time on the catio. I just needed to put her in her place.

Mom got really mad at me, and so she is forcing me to do the selfie today. I did refuse to look at the camera when I snapped this. And I do look a bit as if I have been chastised. Since I can’t hear what Mom is saying, I can imagine anything I like. I am fairly certain, however, that she said, “Misty May, you are the most beautiful, smart and wonderful cat in the world,”

Hooligans

I’m not the only one of us who has been misbehaving. Our two Cat Scouts, Mau and Cooper Murphy, have been getting after each other. They usually have a wrasslin’ match before meals, but the last few days, they have escalated into snaring and neck biting. Mom is not certain what is causing the discord. It could be due to our dad being out of town. Mom, however, thinks its the heat and humidity. She knows the oppressiveness of it is making her grumpy.

As I dictate this, we are having a huge thunderstorm with heavy rain. Here’s hoping that knocks down some of the humidity.

Let’s Hop

Now that I have shared my selfie, it is time for you to show off just how precious and adorable you are.

To prevent Mom from getting any more miffed at me than she already is, I am posting those hopping tips for any newcomers.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.
  • Take the opportunity to visit some of the other hop-alongs and make some new friends or reconnect with some old ones.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support and join us for our weekly hop. And welcome to all those who are joining us for the first time.

Have a terrific easy Sunday and holiday weekend.

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

TWO VERSIONS OF CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

I tried to catch a photo of our adventurous youngsters (Sawyer and Cooper Murphy) on the catio when I saw this surprising sight—Cooper Murphy on the top perch. He normally does not venture up that far, as the perch is smaller and narrower than the others. It seems he’s learned some new moves from Sawyer.

Unfortunately, by not putting on the flash, the photo was back-lit to the extent that Sawyer (looking up at Cooper Murphy) and Coop came out as silhouettes. Rather than deleting the photo, I decided to use it for today’s Caturday Art.

I used Painnt to create the art, and ended up with two versions of the same photo. I was unable to decide which I liked best, so I am sharing both.

Caturday Art

This first version was created with an effect called Bacteria. The frame, also from Painnt, is named, Patinated.

Caturday Art

For this second version, I used the Butterfly Wings effect. I used Picasa to add the frame.

Cooper Murphy and Sawyer would like to know which version you like best.

The boys are joining the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to create some art and join the hop, click on the badge at the right.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

We know this is a three-day weekend and many of you will be celebrating with family and friends, but we’ll still be looking for you on the blog hop. If you get those selfies taken now, you’ll have all day tomorrow to take your easy as well as have some fun. Looking forward to seeing your sweet and smiling faces.

FELINE FRIDAY & FILL-INS: I’M SO OVER THIS!

Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s Friday, so that means it’s time for Fill-Ins. Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). They each post the sentences to be filled in on Thursday, and the hop takes place on Lorianne’s blog each Friday. To participate, click on the badge at the left.

Astrid and Sawyer asked to help with the fill-ins. Of course, I couldn’t turn them down. They each selected which sentence they wanted to complete. Astrid and Sawyer used blue italics for their completions, and I used teal italics. All of our explanatory info is in parentheses.

1. I have no particular plans on Memorial Day. (Dad Tom is out of town and won’t return until after the holiday.)

2. I try to avoid poison ivy, as I am highly allergic to it.

Astrid: I try to avoid Misty May. (She’s mean to me.)

Misty May: “Do I look mean to you?”

3. If I had a catchphrase, it would be: “I’m so over this!” (I selected this as I find myself saying it more and more as this construction project crawls forward. Thankfully, some progress has been made.)

This is the tile in the area where the clawfoot tub will sit. The tiling is complete on the bathroom and laundry room floors (under the cardboard). The process of installing the hardwood floors in the bedroom and closet will begin today.

4. The anticipation of the end result motivates me to work hard.

Sawyer: The possibility of receiving treats motivates me to work hard. (With regard to taking my meds by eating my stinky goodness.)

Misty May also is joining Comedy Plus for their blog hop. Click on the badge below to go the there.

SUSIE DISCOVERS THE PARTY LINE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Here’s the inspiration photo for this week’s poetry challenge hosted by the Two Spoiled Cats, Teddy and Angel Sammy.

Our mom says that she looked just like this little girl when she was a toddler. We’ve never met any of these little people personally, but I think Mom looks awfully big now to have ever been so small.

Between you and me, I don’t think this is really a poem, but I’ve never written one, so…

Susie Discovers the Party Line

Hi Grandma. It’s me, Susie.
Did you recognize my voice?
I learned a new song today,
And Mom said I could call and
Sing it to you. Is that okay?
Oh goody, here goes. Itsy
Bitsy spider climbed up…
What? Who is this? Why
Are you on Grandma’s phone?
You’re on my phone? How
Did you get in my phone?
Mommy! Some person is
In our phone! Come quick.
Get them out of there.
I was singing to Grandma.
What’s a party line? I don’t
Understand. Can’t you make
Them go away? I want to
Sing my song for Grandma.
Oh, okay. Sorry Grandma,
I’ll have to call you back later.
I love you. Bye…

Mom says in the olden days, decades before cell phones were invented, sometimes families had to share just one phone. And they often had to share their phone line with one or up to three other families. She said it was very stressful if there was a special boy a girl was hopping to hear from. He might never get through but just keep getting a busy signal. I certainly am happy I don’t need to worry about such things.

Anyhoo, I know where you can read a really good poem—over at Two Spoiled Cats. Sammy is a masterful poet, and he transmits a fabulous poem from the Rainbow Bridge each week. You also can find links to the blogs of other poets in the comments. To pop on over there, click on the badge at the left.

Thankful Thursday

Mom has decided to be thankful for the small victories. Some days I refuse to eat my Fancy Feast with my meds in it. But yesterday, I ate all four meals, leaving only clean bowls. And I haven’t had a seizure in eight days. Please cross your paws that I can squeak out at least a few more seizure-free days.

Mom also is thankful for one day of cooler weather yesterday. She was able to get outside and work in the yard for three-plus hours. We go back to temps in the mid-90s for at least the next 10 days. Too, too hot for May.

It was so hot a couple of days ago that Dad put ice cubes in our water.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To participate, simply post for what you are thankful, then click the badge above to go to Brian’s blog.

We all are thankful for having so many wonderful and supportive blogging friends.

SUNDAY SELFIES: REMEMBERING CROCKETT

Sunday Selfies: Week #249

I was sitting on Mom’s lap a couple of days ago, and she convinced me to take a selfie. I took several and this was the best; though, it’s a bit blurry and I cut the photo off too close to my chin.

Sunday Selfies

I am continuing with the orange theme today, as we will be honoring and remembering Angel Crockett (Lone Star Cats). Before we do that her are those hopping tips.

Remembering Crockett

Sunday Selfies

If you don’t know, Crockett tragically and unexpectedly left his family and the blogosphere on Monday. Yesterday he was remembered with Wear Orange for Crockett and a special blog hop. Regardless, we always remember our faithful hoppers when they leave us for the Bridge. Crockett and the other members of his furry family are some of those Sunday Selfies hoppers we can count on to join us. His brofur, Travis, is the chatty spokes cat. Angelique is the floofy beauty and model. Crockett was the character. He always amused and entertained us with his big eyes and penchant for razzie selfies.

Crockett, you will be missed and always loved. We will carry you in our hearts, and we know you will be together with your family again.

Thanks for hopping over to see us. If you are new to our hop, WELCOME! Please come back each week.

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid (with love and kisses for my Sampy)
