FLOWERY ART & AN INVITATION

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy is here today to show himself in art form but also to invite everyone to his Gotcha Day party. It will be tomorrow as part of the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. But first he’d like to share his art with you.

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy was tunneling through Christmas wrapping paper when I snapped the photo. To create the arty version of him, I began with the “Saint” effect from Painnt and aded the “Grain Merge” color composition. I then added the “Flower Power” filter from piZap and the borders with Picasa.

Here’s the original photo of our handsome, ginger boy!

Cooper Murphy is entering the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to participate, dozens of free photo-editing apps exist on the internet to help you with your creation. When you are finished, click on Athena’s badge to go to and join the hop.

Sunday Selfies Early Warning

Tomorrow is the first selfie hop of the new year. It sure would be terrific if you would join us for the hop and stay for Cooper Murphy’s Gotcha Day party. Take your “easy” today and rest well tonight, so you’ll be ready to party hardy.

FILL-INS & VET VISIT

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #138

None of the Kitties Blue were interested in helping with Fill-Ins this week, and so I was left to do all of them. My completions are in teal italics and not particularly exciting.

1. Looking back is something I prefer not to do.

2. Having my nails done once a month is a treat I give to myself.

3. A new skill I want to learn is how to do more coding in WordPress.

4. One bad habit I want to stop is staying up too late.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop hosted each Friday by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). The blog hop can be entered by clicking on the above badge.

Vet Visit

Sawyer and Misty May visited Dr. Neel today. Misty May bellowed and bitched for the entire trip there and most of the trip home. Sawyer was his usual quiet, PTU-pooping self. He was more creative than usual, horking twice in he PTU as well.

Misty May was congested, which is why she visited Dr. Neel. She now has antibiotics.

Sawyer was in for his annual exam. He is healthy in all aspects except for the seizures. He got his rabies vaccine, but he will wait a month before getting his other vaccines. Due to two weeks without seizures, we decided with Dr. Neel to stay on the current three-med protocol for him. The photo below shows one of the vet techs trying to pet Sawyer. At the end of the visit, she, Dr. Neel and Sawyer entered into a wrestling match to get his claws clipped.

ROLLER DERBY QUEEN

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Check out this adorable photo Angel Sammy selected for us to write a poem about this week. A happy little girl to start the new year was the perfect choice.

Roller Derby Queen

I may be only three
And just learning to skate
But in my dreams
I’m a roller derby queen.
I have a cool nickname
Like Curly, the Crusher, or
The Blonde Basher.
I have a thunderbolt tattoo
On my keister to cover
Bruises always present.
I’ve bedazzled my skates
To give my uniform flare
And added a bright pink
Streak to my hair.
When I told my mom
About my dream,
She turned totally green.
I feared she’d take away
My brand new skates,
Hoping I’d dream about staying
Home and baking cakes.
She calls me her princess
And wants me always
To be sweet and girlie,
But I’ll keep dreaming
About a life of adventure
As I skate on the driveway.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday is hosted each week by Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats. They peasant a photo each Thursday, and participants use it as an inspiration to write a poem the following Thursday. Angel Sammy writes a poem each week and transmits it from the Rainbow Bridge. His poems are always terrific and worth reading. To visit Two Spoiled Cats, click on the badge below.

Thankful Thursday

We are excited to welcome in 2019. Last year was not terrific, so we know this one has to be better. We have several things for which to be thankful this week.

Our main thankful is that Sawyer is now two-weeks seizure free. The three-med combo seems to be working. He has his annual check-up with Dr. Neel this afternoon. I’m sure he won’t be happy about that. Will the PTU Pooper strike again?

We were fortunate to be a “Right Guesser” on the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats. This cool badge was the prize.

We are grateful to have reached our 1,800th post. I never could have predicted that this lady with the short attention span and propensity for procrastination could have made it this far!

Finally, Kitties Blue, Dad Tom and I send our thanks to those who commented on yesterday’s post remembering Lily Olivia on the one-year anniversary of her death.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by Brian. To join in, click on his badge below.

REMEMBERING LILY OLIVIA

Wordy Wednesday

Today is one year since our precious Lily Olivia received her wings. It seems as if she has been gone much longer. I miss her helping me on the computer. I miss waking up to find her staring at me. I miss her kisses. I miss hearing her bark like a dog when she wanted something or was angry with us.

Lily Olivia was with us for more than 18 years. Her death came at an age when she would have been heading off to college if she were our human child. She, however, will never return as that child would. Most of you have been through the loss of a beloved fur child, so I know you are aware of the loss I continue to feel. I often stop by her and Fiona’s urns on the bedroom dresser and talk to them.

I pray we will be together again in the future.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of Lily Olivia.

This final photo was take on New Year’s Day 2018. We think Lily Olivia was sharing with Sawyer all her knowledge and tricks for getting exactly what she wanted at all times. The two spent a lot of time together during Lily Olivia’s last few days.

We miss you and love you, Lily Olivia.

You will be with us always in our hearts.

A SPARK FOR THE NEW YEAR

Sparks

New Year's Spark

Cooper Murphy believes there is no place better to wait for and greet the new year than from under the Christmas tree.

2018 hasn’t been the best year for Kitties Blue, and we are praying for and looking forward to an improved 2019. We wish each of you a terrific year as well.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie has been taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Unfortunately, during this break, Annie has been the victim of a hacker. This has continued to keep her off-line and caused her much distress. Kitties Blue and I ask for your continued prayers for Annie and her family as they try to reconcile this mess and get their lives back to normal.

Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

Each year, Kitties Blue have the same New Year’s Resolutions. If you have never seen them, click here. They’re worth a read.
