HAIKU AND KITTIES BLUE CREW IN ART

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

This beautiful painting by Daniel Gerhartz immediately made me wonder where the cat was that should have been in the picture. Just as with the past couple of weeks, I didn’t find the need to write a lot to represent my feelings. So, here is another haiku.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday was the creation of Angel Sammy prior to his receiving his wings. He continues to challenge us each week with an inspiration photo. And, he continues to transmit a poem from the Rainbow Bridge every week. He’s been busy lately on the greeting committee with so many friends arriving at the Bridge, but I know he’ll have created a terrific poem to share with us. You can pop over to Two Spoiled Cats by clicking on his badge. After reading his poem, check out the Comments for links to poems by other bloggers.

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue feel exceptionally thankful this week for a beautiful family portrait Marv‘s mom, Barb, created for us. I think the Kitties Blue crew is  totally adorable.

I will be framing this to hang in our new bedroom, if and when construction (which hasn’t begun) is completed.

Mau also has a huge thank you this week for his sweet wife Allie for the wonderful birthday gifts she sent.  If you didn’t see Mau and Misty May’s birthday post, click here.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by our friend, Brian. To participate, post about your thankfuls and then click on Brian’s badge to join the hop.

MEOW LIKE A PIRATE DAY 2018

Not So Wordless Wednesday

The boys are participating in Meow Like a Pirate Day. The girls said they were not interested this year.

Says who? Whoever said that was lying. We girls think it is super cool to be pirates.

The boys are all dressed and ready to go. You girls seem to be sitting around in your furs.

We don’t need costumes to swill grog and rum and search for buried treasure.

Not dressing up sort of takes the fun out of it don’t you think?

Arrgh! I guess you’re right. So here I am in my costume.

Pirate cat Misty May

Do you have a pirate name?

Of course; though, I think whomever came up with it must have been blind. I am known as Calico Mary Kidd. It’s obvious I’m a tuxie not a calico.

Do any of the other girls wish to join you as a pirate?

I guess not…maybe that rumor about not participating wasn’t so far from the truth.

Should we check out the boys and see if they are dressed for the activities?

Yeah…why not.

Pirate cats: Cooper Murphy, Mau, Sawyer

Wow, they sure look like swashbucklers. I wonder what their pirate names are?

We are Captain Roger Kidd, Captain Sparrow the Funkmaster and Iron Davy Rackham.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of milk. Mau says I’m too young for rum or grog and that I cannot drink alcohol with my medication. Pffft! Oops, I mean Arrgh.

Do you scalawags have a ship?

As a matter of fact we do. Unfortunately it is in need of repairs, as you can see. We are disgruntled landlubbers for now.

Due to our inability to set sail and pillage some villages, we are setting off for some parties. Captain Roger Kidd and Iron Davy Rackham are heading over to the Tabby Cat Club, and later Captain Roger Kidd will join me at Cat Scouts.

What about Calico Mary Kidd? Are you taking her with you?

I guess she can tag along with us to Cat Scouts

Gee, thanks, Captain Jack Sparrow Funkmaster. So kind of you.

Have fun today! Don’t get yourselves into any trouble.

Arrgh! Arrgh! Arrgh! Arrgh!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY M & MM…A DAY LATE!

Well, as usual, Mom screwed up. She should have posted yesterday to say happy 14th birthday to us. She often is confused these days. So much sadness and heart break with friend upon friend leaving for the Rainbow Bridge. It almost doesn’t seem right for us to celebrate. But…

First, I (Mau) must thank my lovely and beautiful wife Allie (Friends Furever) for my birthday card.

She didn’t have to do anything more for me, but she did. And can you believe Mom made me wait until my birthday yesterday to open the gifts she sent? Maybe the wait was worth it. Wow! My prezzies are terrific!

She sent this special new blanket with nip in it and three very cool toys. Mom and Dad were going to put the blanket on their bed for me, but I refused to get off of it.

💗 Thank you, Allie! 💗

If you think my gifts look like goodies you’d like to have for yourself, they are from Catching Lizards. To go there, click here.

Misty May and I thank Pipo, Dalton and Petcretary Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews and Terrieristical Woofs) for the beautiful card. They never forget a birthday.

I made a cake for our celebration in my Cat Scouts Bake Shop. Please join us for a piece, as well as some noms and bubbly.

SPARKS: OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

Today’s Spark

Before Hurricane Florence ever made landfall, the predicted path had us taking a direct hit. We were lucky, however, the storm weakened and changed direction. What is left of it, as a now tropical storm, started making its presence felt yesterday with wind and rain. Flash flood warnings have been issued, but we are safe and will suffer no ill effects, except for the ever-growing mud pit in our back yard.

While watching the news, seeing the amount of water causing devastation in many parts of North Carolina, noting with sadness how many individuals have had to be rescued from flooded homes and reflecting on those who lost their lives, the first word that came to mind was adversity.

Looking through possible quotes to use for today’s Sparks post, I came across this one from Michelle Obama.

Sparks - Adversity

I certainly am not trying to downplay the impact of the storm or the really tough challenges facing those who felt its wrath, but I do believe they will come out stronger on the other side with help from those of us who are lucky enough to be mostly uneffected.

All my prayers go out to everyone facing the weeks and months of cleaning up and getting their lives back to normal.

About This Photo

The photo was taken last December when Sawyer was just an itty-bitty kitten. As bruiser Cooper Murphy tried to get the upper paw, Sawyer never gave up the fight. Even now, Cooper Murphy outweighs Sawyer by a good 10 to 12 pounds, but the little guy doesn’t back down. He sees himself as a big cat in a little body.

I apologize for not covering Sawyer’s boy bits, but he’s just so darn adorable, I didn’t want to tamper with the photo.

Sparks badgeThe Purpose Behind Sparks

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. However, many of us continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

I WAS PHOTOBOMBED!

Sunday Selfies: Week # 214

I was quite proud of myself, as I thought I had taken the purrfect selfie. I gave it to Mom to crop and add a border. When she was finished and showed it to me, I was shocked. I had no idea that squirrel had snuck up behind me. What a brazen little photobomber.  Just ignore him. Okay?

I am keeping this short today, so we can say good-bye to some friends who have flown off to the Rainbow Bridge. I will include all that hopping stuff at the end of the post.

Remembering Basil

On September 9, our friend and a beloved member of the Cat Blogosphere traveled to the Rainbow Bridge after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Basil was a Cat Scout and the Commander of the “B” Team (his fursibs). They went on the most amazing and fantastic adventures. After reading the novel (Basil The Bionic Cat) his mum, Catherine, wrote about him, we were positive he was indestructible, so his leaving us for the greatest adventure of all was a huge shock. Mom absolutely adored his little, heart-shaped nose, and she cried buckets when she found out he’d gotten his wings. We’ll be holding him in our hearts and will never forget Basil. Rest In Peace does not seem appropriate, as we are pretty certain he’s already planning incredible escapades for himself and the many friends who were waiting for him.

If you have not left your condolences for Basil’s family, you can do so here.

Good-Bye to Milita and Miles

Four other friends have left us this past week. We are remembering two here and will honor the other two on next week’s Sunday Selfies hop. Rest in Peace sweet friends knowing you were loved and will never be forgotten.

NAPPING CATURDAY ART FROM MAU

Caturday Art & 1,700th Post

Mau's Toon Caturday Art

It’s always best to let sleeping cats lie, and it’s a good time to get some cute photos, especially if your cat is hiding his eyes, as Mau is here.

To create today’s art, I used the Toon effect from Painnt, the Love Bokeh filter (at 73 percent) and purple scroll frame from piZap. The final border is from Picasa.

This is the photo Mau is entering in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To join in the fun, create some art using one of the numerous photo-editing apps you can find for free on the internet.

Dad Tom had a hard time identifying this photo. Did you? Here’s the original.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

One of Kitties Blue will be here tomorrow to host our Sunday Selfies blog hop. However, our post will be dedicated to and in honor of our friend, Bionic Basil. If you don’t know, Basil received his wings and flew off to the Rainbow Bridge on September 9. Basil and his furblings are faithful participants in the Selfies blog hop, and Basil is beloved by so many in the blogosphere, he deserves our remembrance.

We also will say, “good-bye,” to Milita (Fur Everywhere) and Miles Meezer (Meezer Tails).

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow on the hop.

Puzzle

For our friends who enjoy puzzles, here is the link to today’s art as a 300-piece puzzle. You can decrease the number of pieces on the Jigsaw site by selecting “Play As” (on the upper right) after loading the puzzle.

FILL-INS FEATURE ANGELS MADISON & MACKENZIE

Friendly Fill-Ins:Week #122

Friday is the day we join Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs) for fill-ins. It’s an opportunity for participants to share a bit about themselves as well as learn about their fellow bloggers. Ellen and Lorianne each select two sentences to be completed and post them on their blogs on Thursday.

This is a blog hop. To join, click on the fill-ins badge.

I have filled in the sentences using teal italics.

1. Being a cat parent is challenging but I’d never give it up.

2. If cat poop were worth money, then I would be rich.

3. I am proud of Mau and Cooper Murphy being Cat Scouts.

4. If I could time travel, I would visit the year 2001. That is the year Madison and MacKenzie came to live with us, and I really miss these boys and BFFs. You can read more about them on our “The Felines” page by clicking on the tab at the top of this page. (I hope you don’t mind that I have shared this photo previously.)

I HATE WAITING*

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Sometimes when photos “speak” to me, I find that I need very few words to express my feelings. That was the case with today’s inspiration photo.

Waiting for Autumn

Autumn is my favorite season. I just wish winter didn’t follow. My contribution to Angel Sammy and Teddy’s poetry day is another haiku.

A walk through the woods
On a cool, crisp autumn day
My heaven on earth

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday Each week Angel Sammy sends an always-worth-reading poem from the Rainbow Bridge to be posted at Two Spoiled Cats. Click on his badge to jump over there and read it. He’s the MASTER, and you won’t regret the time spent. You also will find links to other poems in the Comment section.

If you haven’t attempted a poem, give it a try. It doesn’t need to be long or elaborate. Here’s a web-site that can help you out if you have poetry phobia: Shadow Poetry.

Thankful Thursday

In addition to writing a poem each Thursday, we join Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. It is important to count our blessings everyday, and we appreciate Brian giving us the opportunity to do that and hop as well.

Our biggest thankful is that Hurricane Florence has made a turn and is heading in a more southernly direction. It was looking as we would take a direct hit, but now we just expect gobs and gobs of rain. (Does rain come in gobs?) The following photo may provide an answer.

This is the site for our addition after three inches of rain Tuesday night.

Waiting for construction

I will be praying for all those in the path of this 400-mile-wide storm.

Dad Tom and I are both grateful that since increasing Sawyer’s new medication he has not had a seizure. Of course, we cannot rule out the chance of him having one at anytime, but I am beginning to feel less anxious and worried.

It warms our hearts that LadyMum Sherri-Ellen was able to adopt of little, six-year-old, black panfur kitty. BellaDharma was adopted twice previously but returned to the shelter. We are thankful that she finally has a forever and loving home at the Purrfect Pad.

Finally, Kitties Blue are thankful that I remembered on Tuesday to visit Two Spoiled Cats, as we were one of five first commenters and received this colorful badge.

SPARK OF LOVE & BRAVERY

Sparks

Sparks: Robin Sharma

I  was searching for a quote to use tomorrow in conjunction with 9/11 when I found this one, which really spoke to me. I know many friends have lost beloved pets recently, and with Remember Me Thursday coming up in a couple of weeks, I’d like to encourage all of those in this situation to open their hearts and rescue an orphan anipal to love and share their life.

The author of today’s Spark, Robin Sharma, is a Canadian writer and motivational speaker. After attending law school and working as a litigation attorney, Sharma self-published a book on stress management and spirituality, MegaLiving (1994). Sharma has published 11 other books and founded the training company, Sharma Leadership International.

Awww Mondays

In order to participate in the blog hop at Comedy Plus, I have included a photo of Cooper Murphy from a recent hot day. Kitties Blue had no interest in being on the catio in the heat and humidity. Now we have eight days of rain forecasted, which won’t make the catio any more popular. Guess, I can expect more scenes like the one below.
