MISTY MAY SHOWS OFF WITH THREE SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #170

I don’t join you very often for Sunday Selfies or on any other post for that matter. When it came time for selfies, however, I was the only one hanging out near Mom, so here I am! I took three selfies and none are very good.

Mom thinks I look cute in the center one with my mouth open. What do you think? I was telling her two selfies were enough. You can tell by my ears in number three that I did not want to take another. Wow, that’s a super grumpy expression on my face as well. I’d say, “That should teach her for pushing me for one more shot,” but she’ll never learn!

Misty May shares three selfies.

That’s it for me. You know I am a kitty of few words. What have you got to share with us today? Bet it’s better than what I did.

If you are new to hopping, here are a few tips to help you with entering our hop.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

With purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

NO FROU-FROU SELFIE FOR LILY OLIVIA

Before I show you my selfie, I just want to say how much all the Kitties Blue and our mom have enjoyed seeing all the BlogBlast4Peace posts from yesterday. We still have more blogs to visit and will continue to do so today.

Sunday Selfies: Week #169

I asked Mom to keep things simple this week when she framed my selfie. I agreed to take only one, and I cut off my ear. I thought it better not to gussy up the photo, or I’d be lost in all the froufrou.

SUNDAY SELFIES DEDICATED TO ANGEL FRIENDS

Sunday Selfies: Week #141

Lily Olivia agreed to take a selfie; though, all Kitties Blue had threatened to boycott after Friday’s round-up. However, she said she would only do it if I joined her. She looked so cute when she asked, I couldn’t refuse. So here we are. Lily even managed to reach over my shoulder to snap the photo.

TRIO OF EASTER SUNDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #140

Easter Sunday Selfies in Shades

The tale of Phoebe’s Traveling Sunglasses continues today with our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Last Sunday Calista Jo was the model. This week we have three models, Mauricio, Giulietta and Lily Olivia. As you can see the girls were a bit more cooperative than Mauricio. This photo shoot was totally reminiscent of the recent Bobble Hat debacle. Though it may appear as if I am strangling him, no cat was harmed during this photo shoot.

We have four additional kitties to get in the shades before we send them on to the next stop on the tour. I believe that those remaining may need to be approached while they are sleeping. as I do not expect any cooperation.

Cat4-001This is our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Though it is a holiday, we hope many of you who hop with us regularly will join us today. And newcomers are always welcome to join in the fun. After all, what better day to hop than Easter. The link to add your selfie to the hop is below. You may also add the hop to your selfies post as well if you’d like.  If you do so would you please do us the courtesy of displaying our badge and/or linking back to The Cat on My Head. Thank you!

Mauricio & Cooper Murphy wish everyone a Happy Easter

TUESDAY NEWS DAY THIS AND THAT

Cats on the Job Winner

We are delighted to announce the winner of our most recent giveaway for a copy of Cats on the Job by Lisa Rogak. The winner is: Lorraine and her kitty, Frankie. Lorraine’s blog is: lorraine’s resources and rewards. This really is a wonderful book. We highly recommend everyone purchase it. Cats on the Job would make an excellent gift for yourself or a friend.

How Astrid Did Her Sunday Selfie

olympus-air 2-001 this and thatSeveral of you commented on our Sunday Selfies post that you’d like to have the gadget Astrid used to take her selfie photo. What she referred to as a lens is actually a mini camera. The Olympus Air AO1 is operated through Wi-Fi from a smartphone to which the camera can be clipped. It is not necessary, however, to clip it to the phone to use it. It was not attached when Astrid took her photo.

These are it’s attributes:

  • Equipped with a Micro Four Thirds lens mount for a large selection of available lens options (Dad Tom can use any of his Olympus Micro Four Thirds lenses that he uses on his full-size Olympus camera.)
  • Up to 1/16,000 second shutter speed at 10 frames per second
  • SLR image quality
  • Instant Connection and image sharing via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection
  • Comprehensive OA Central app with six different shooting applications
  • Integration with Amazon Cloud Drive makes it easy to upload your photos to the cloud and access them anywhere

The photo shows the Olympus Air with the smartphone attachment device and no lens. It’s about two inches in length. Dad Tom purchased it from Amazon. We must warn you that it is not an inexpensive gadget.

Nellie Has Returned

We are super excited. Our friend, Nellie, has returned to blogging. If you were a fan of The Cat From Hell blog, and have been missing its cheeky spokescat, Nellie, you now can find her at Living on the EDGE. Her mum doesn’t know she’s started a new blog so only share this with those you can trust not to rat on her. We wish Nellie much success with this new endeavor.

Our E-mail Subscriptions to Your Blogs

Since we began our blog, we have used e-mail subscriptions to the blogs we follow as our way of visiting. We mentioned in a previous post, that most of the notifications from your blogs have disappeared from our e-mail. We don’t know why and have not found a way to fix the problem. (IF ANYONE USES WORDPRESS, HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND HAS A SOLUTION, PLEASE, PLEASE LET US KNOW.) We have tried resubscribing to several blogs and get a message stating we are already subscribed. Our next step will be to unsubscribe and then resubscribe. We are telling you this so that if you see an unsubscribe notice from us, you won’t think you have done anything wrong or that we don’t like you anymore. We know that when we get an unsubscribe notice, we get our feelings hurt. Paws crossed we can get this fixed.

So that’s our this and that for today, EXCEPT we wanted to tell you that we have visited the blogs of all those who entered this week’s Sunday Selfies blog hop. Purrticipation this week was a bit less than usual, but we are ecstatic that our mom got us to all your blogs! And so early in the week. Maybe we are finally getting her trained. On the other paw…not a chance. The stars must have aligned purrfectly or another strange cosmic phenomenon was involved.

We did notice that some of you who did Sunday Selfies posts did not link up to the blog hop. The hop will remain open for a few more days, so we hope you’ll join us.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

ANOTHER TWO-FUR ON SUNDAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #60

two-fur

I am not certain why we are having so much togetherness at our house lately. I can only surmise it is the constant gloomy and rainy days. This week features another two-fur photo, featuring Mauricio (again) and Astrid. Most of the girls like Mauricio and will try to get next to him, but Astrid could be classified as a stalker. She has a very hard time leaving him alone. Astrid snapped this photo when they were both crammed into their dad’s lap. (She apologizes for its blurriness.) There’s barely room for Mauricio by himself, but she’ll insist on trying to join him. These sessions usually don’t last very long.

Last week’s Sunday Selfies Blog Hop had 57 entrants not counting our own. By Monday afternoon the kitties had visited and commented on the 54 blogs of those who had entered by that time. I think this is a new record for us. It only happened because of the incessant rain. I have been unable to bike or swim. That frees up a few hours everyday. I must apologize up front that the kitties and I will not be able to do that this week. I have something EXTREMELY important happening on Monday that I must prepare for today and on Monday morning.

We had two unusual entrants in last week’s hop: a bee (Kjelle Bus aka Charlie Rascal) and an ibis (PepiSmartDog). The kitties and I are excited to see this week’s entries and what unusual critters stop on by.

The word we coined last week, “two-fur” was picked up and used by some of our entrants, which was sort of exciting. We don’t expect it to gain the widespread usage that Nissy‘s MOUSES did, but it was fun to see it leave our blog and show up on others.

So that’s enough blather for today. You probably are going to look at the photos only anyway. To add one of your own, click on the link below. You all know the drill: Use the code below to have the hop appear on your blog. If you do, out of courtesy to us, please link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge. And if you have any trouble linking let me know in a comment, and I will enter the link for you.

Thanks for being our friends, followers and supporters.

anotherp.s. If you haven’t entered our current giveaway for the book The Cat’s Out of the Bag by Max Cryer, click here to leave a comment. This is a book you don’t want to miss. It is 191-page compendium of cat facts, poems, myths, quotes and history, and a must read for anyone who shares their home with cats or just finds them fascinating. The contest closes Friday at 5 p.m.

MISTY MAY’S ONE-AND-DONE SELFIE

Sunday Selfies Week #52

When I was informed that I would be featured today for Sunday Selfies, I told Mom it was one and done. I also said I wasn’t getting up to do it. I’d already settled in for a nice nap using Dad’s foot as my pillow. So Mom stuck the phone it front of my face and demanded I push the button. Voilà…my very blurry portrait. Hope you like it. If anyone expects me to do this again anytime soon, lots of treats best be involved!

I do think the bling on the frame is a nice touch, and I deserve it for being inconvenienced!

So, it’s your turn now. Please join us for the actual 52nd week of our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. All anipals are welcome and encouraged to take part in this frivolity. Obviously, no photo is too bad to be part of the hop. In fact, some of the truly awful ones are the most fun to see. Click below to add your link. If you need help entering the link to your post, let us know in the comments, and Mom will do it for you if possible.

Cat4-001If you’d like to include the hop on your blog, the code can be obtained below. If you do this, all the Kitties Blue and our mom would appreciate your linking back to The Cat on My Head and/or displaying our badge.

Not that it’s impawtant but we have decided to number our selfie posts from now on so as not to get confused as to which week it is.

All the Kitties Blue apologize for missing a few of you who joined us last week when it came to visiting and leaving a comment. We started out with a bang and then fizzled. Our ditzy mom is still working from two different computers as most of our photos remain on the old Mac. We promise to do better this week.

And once again we thank everyone who has entered our blog hop whether it be every week or only one time. We truly appreciate your support and friendship.

As the old saying goes, “See you in the funny papers.” Have a great easy Sunday.

Purrs and paw-pats, Misty May

LILY’S DOOZY OF A SNOOZY TOESY TUESDAY

Lily

Our Caturday Art featured Lily Olivia. Our friend, Glogirly, commented that it appeared as if Lily Olivia was on the kitchen countertop in that photo. And she was correct. In Mauricio’s Sunday Selfies yesterday, he too was on the kitchen countertop.

Glogirly has been having problems with some kitty (Katie? – Waffles?) counter surfing. We voted for Katie. I tried linking to Glogirly’s original post, but I was unable to get the link to work. Click here to go to her blog. You can then search for the post, “WHODUNNIT? Crime Scene on the Countertop.”

Kitties Blue are not banned from the counters. Lily Olivia eats breakfast and dinner on the counter as do Astrid and Misty May on occasion. They have a water bowl right next to the sink and their antique dough bowl/cat bed is on the counter.

We originally mandated: No Cats on the Countertops. But when both their dad and I worked full-time, we knew we had no control over any kitty mischief going on while we were not at home. With that in mind, we made the rule: No Paws on the Placemats. That, we assumed, would keep them from hovering over our plates and drooling on our food. (You can read more about the Rules, here.)

Somewhere along the way, we lost control. Could be because we are old, senile or just too damned tired to fight them. After all, there are eight of them and only two of us. Some of our sweet and well-behaved naughty kitties, usually Mau or Lily, have a tendency to troll the counters during mealtimes and gang up on us. At least one of them is being reprimanded and dropped to the floor only to return again and again. It’s like the cat is a yo-yo.

At 15, Lily Olivia has pretty much decided that she is exempt from following any rules, as evidenced by the above photo. (Actually, being a calico, she has thought this all along.)

The extenuating circumstance of it not being mealtime might make this not quite as huge an infraction as it appears. However, no matter how big of a deal we might think this is, Lily was left undisturbed. After all, she’s known to have the quickest paw in the east.

I am very slowly getting around to all of you who posted a Sunday Selfie. Still not well and so I am not spending a lot of time on the computer. My thanks to everybody who joined us.

See you tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

FROM BLURRY TO BEAUTY

Though I have done the Sunday Selfies thing before, I forgot I had to sit still when I was taking my selfies. I took a few with only an ear in the photo and this super blurry one. And then success! I think my final attempt turned out quite well. What do y’all think? Should I become a purrfessional model?

This is our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. All critters (and humans too if they’d like) are welcome to join us. Just snap a “quickie,” post and then spend your normal Easy Sunday. As always, if you’d like to grab the linky code and post the submissions on your blog, would you purrlease link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge.

Finally, we would like to ask you to join us on Monday for a post dedicated to our lovely honorary sisfur, Nylablue. If you don’t know, Nylablue left us Saturday afternoon and is now in Summerland. She is still our sisfur and will remain in our hearts always, but now she is a special angel as well.

FALLING FOR LILY OLIVIA

Sunday Selfies Blog Hop

I was able to get out of this last week when I demanded Calista Jo post her selfies. I wasn’t able to dissuade Mom, however, from using my photos this week. It meant she didn’t have to twist any other cat’s paw to get them to pose and snap their own photo. So here I am, Lily Olivia, in all my blurry glory. Mom tried to fancy things up a bit, but I know we can’t fool you into thinking there’s anything good about these photos. I’m positive all of you can do so much better!

As Mom was still out of town when we posted our Sunday Selfies last week, we weren’t able to get around to visit all of you who entered your selfies. We are super sorry for this, and we promise to visit each of you this week.
