BROKEN REALITY ON THE CATIO

Caturday Art

Today’s art features Sawyer and Astrid on the catio. To artify them I used the Broken Reality effect from the Painnt app. I bumped up the saturation a bit and also changed the hue. Then I added the graphic on the right edge with piZap.

The original photo, which was taken by Dad Tom, was already rather arty due to the lighting.

In this version, it also is evident which cat is Sawyer and which is Astrid.

They are hopping over to the U.K. to join the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To join them and/or view art from other bloggers, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, and one like we have never before experienced. Your humans will not be attending Easter services or spending time with their extended family. As the family furries you will be called upon to provide entertainment and comfort to your humans. So, we are suggesting that you get the selfie taking over with and post early. If you’d like to decorate your photo for Easter that would be super cool but, of course, not necessary.

Looking forward to seeing all your adorable faces tomorrow.

SAWYER PRESENTS A SPARK FROM BUDDHA

Sparks/Awww Mondays

Today’s Spark is from Buddha and is being brought to you by Sawyer. Sorry he could not stay awake for it. Once he finishes presenting the Spark, he will be joining the Awww Mondays blog hop at Comedy Plus. To join him click on the badge.

CDC Guidelines

I selected today’s Spark as a reminder to follow CDC guidelines in order to remain virus free during the current pandemic. And I selected Sawyer to present it, as he knows how important it is to follow his treatment plan. He’s been great about eating all his noms, which is where we put his meds. Even so, our little guy had a seizure Sunday afternoon. But there is good news. Thirteen days had passed since his last one.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie is taking a “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. Many of us still continue to post a Spark on Monday, as we believe in Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

The Adventures of Periwinkle & Stinky

Tomorrow, our favorite tabbies, Periwinkle & Stinky, will be off on another adventure. We will be posting the adventure tomorrow, and they have their paws crossed you will join them.

LAP CAT TAKES ON FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #197

Last night Mom invited me to sleep in her lap. I wasn’t going to turn down that offer.

lap cat

But then she blamed me for her inability to get on her laptop to write this post. I thought that was pretty cwappy. But the situation got even worse. She told me I had to not only write this post but also complete the fill-ins. Sheesh!

What’s a guy to do? That’s Calista Jo behind me lying on Mom’s legs. I thought she should have to help, but Mom said what she types on is not called a legtop. HUH?

Anyhoo, my fill-ins are in teal italics. Any explanatory info is in parentheses.

1. I know spring is almost here when skunks and groundhogs start appearing regularly in our yard. (We saw just one groundhog on a warm day, so spring isn’t here yet. In fact, it will be a windy night here with temps in the mid 20s and possible snow showers today.)

2. I find my seizures confusing.

3. I have a strong opinion about the noms I am given to eat, as they always have medicine added to them.

4. Bonita flakes is are the strangest thing I have ever eaten. (Chris brings these to us occasionally as a treat. They are yummy but still the strangest thing I’ve ever eaten.)

So, I am joining the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Lorianne from Four-Legged Furballs. If you’d like to take part, you can find the sentences to be filled in each Thursday on their blogs. To join the hop, click on the badge at the left. It will take you to Four-legged Furballs.

Feline Friday

I also am hopping over to visit Sandee at Comedy Plus for Feline Friday. If you would like to join me there, click on the badge below.

Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer (with whisker kisses for Noelle)

DREAM OF DANCING

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thursday again and time for poetry. This week I have written both a haiku and poem for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s (Two Spoiled Cats) poetry challenge. This week’s inspiration photo and my poems are below.

Dream of Dancing

Growing up I wanted to be a dancer.
My parents knew it wasn’t possible,
But I didn’t…they never told me
I watch with fascination and envy
When I see masters of this art
Glide, swing, twirl and fly.
Alone, with a partner or ensemble
Dance is seductive, mesmerizing.
Someday I will dance…in heaven.
Surely God would not deny me
This one simple dream and pleasure.

My haiku:

Sexy, glamorous
Acrobatic, flexible
How do they do that?

If you’d like to try your hand or paw at poetry, checkout Two Spoiled Cats each Thursday for their inspiration photo for the following week. You can get there by clicking on the badge below. While there, make certain you read Angel Sammy’s poem. It is always thoughtful and purrfect! And you can find links in the Comments section to poems by other bloggers.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for this rag-tag gang of felines as well as their four furblings. What you can’t see is that these four are curled up at my feet. I am never alone or lonely.

I am blessed to have Dad Tom, the eight Kitties Blue and wonderful, supportive friends in my life.

The kitties and I are joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop hosted by Brian. To join us, post on your blog for what you are thankful and then click on Brian’s badge.

MORE SNOOZY CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

Kitties Blue have been spending even more time than usual this winter snoozing. I attribute that to our lack of sun. Though we have had a mild winter, it has definitely been a sunless one. So like much of my recent art, today’s is of a snoozing kitty—Sawyer.

To create today’s art, I began with PicMonkey and overlaid a black/grey/white flower design I colored with the Happy Color app. After that I overlaid a graphic flower from PicMonkey. The flower border was added with piZap.

Sawyer is entering the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. If you’d like to join him or find links to art created by other bloggers, click on the badge below.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is the day to put on your best smile, fluff up your furs and join us for our weekly blog hop. None of the Kitties Blue have stepped up with an offer to be your host, but I will hornswoggle one of them to greet you tomorrow.

We are super thankful to all of you who continue to join us each week and look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

KITTEN BOWL 2020 SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #286

Cooper Murphy is your host today for our Sunday Selfies blog hop. He is sharing the trading card he made for the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl VII.

Kitten Bowl

If you would like to make your own Kitten Bowl trading card, click on Cooper Murphy’s card. There are four teams from which you can select. And don’t forget to watch the Kitten Bowl at 2 p.m. ET on the Hallmark Channel.

Both Sawyer and Mau made trading cards as well and want to share them. Sort of bonus Sunday Selfies from the Kitties Blue boys.

Kitten Bowl

Sawyer joined the same team as his girlfriend, Noelle, and he’s really hoping they’ll accept him, as it is the Little Longtails, and he has no tail. He’s hoping they won’t discriminate against him. Mau joined the team Allie selected.

We are looking forward to seeing all your selfies. Obviously they do not need to be in the form of Kitten Bowl trading cards. But if you’d like them to be, that would be fantastic. The link to add your post is below.

NOT ALWAYS A CAT PERSON!

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #193

It’s Friday again, which means it is time for those Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Lorianne (Four-Legged Furballs). Each select two sentences for participants to complete. If you’d like to play along, click on the badge at the left. That will take you to Lorianne’s blog, where you can enter the link to your post.

The sentences to be completed can be found on both blogs each Thursday.

This week I was able to complete the fill-ins without calling upon any of the Kitties Blue for help.

My completions are in teal italics, and any explanatory information is in parentheses.

1. My favorite quote is by Emily Dickinson:

“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”

(In 1996-97 my friend, Lynn, was battling malignant melanoma. At that same time I was sending an inspirational quote each morning via e-mail to all the employees at the college where she and I worked. I selected this one especially for her, and it became her quote and mantra. It has remained my favorite since that time. She died in September, 1997, at the age of 39.)

2. My favorite part of February is Dad Tom’s birthday.

3. A little known fact about me is that I was once a dog person. (Though we had cats at home when I was very young, after I turned seven years old we only had dogs. I got my first dog when I was a sophomore in college and my second three or four years later. Tom and I got our first cat in the mid-80s. In all honesty, I still love dogs and all other animals. Kitties are just my favorite, along with pandas.)

4. Living with cats is the most rewarding experience in the world. (Bet you didn’t see that one coming. MOL!)

Feline Friday

JUMPIN’ AROUND WITH SAWYER & BIRTHDAY WISHES

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Each Thursday, Kitties Blue and I enjoy joining our friends, Teddy and Angel Sammy, in their poetry challenge. Once in a while we go off script and alter the photo just a tad, which is what occurred his week. Sawyer not only “jumped” into the photo but also wrote the poem.

Jumpin’ Around

Mom thought this would be a fun pastime for me,
So I could burn off some excess energy.
She thought I might then leave Calista Jo alone,
As she isn’t going to play no matter how I fuss or groan.
But this definitely isn’t as easy as it looks.
These girls only have two feet; I have four meat hooks.*
It’s easy to get tangled in those ropes and be catapulted to the sky—
Never knowing if I’ll come down or have a chance to say good-bye.
Maybe one of the girls will hold me while she jumps.
No worries about landing on my head and getting a big lump.
I probably should stay on the sideline and avoid being kicked.
Maybe I’ll just hop around on my pogo stick!

© Sawyer Blue – 01/29/2020

∗ meat hooks – Kitties Blue earned this name for their paws when Kitty Blue #2, Steamer,
snagged a pork chop off my plate with her claws.

If you’d like to write a poem for next week, pop on over to Two Spoiled Cats by clicking on the poetry badge. You’ll find next week’s inspiration photo. While there, make certain to read Angel Sammy’s poem. He transmits it to Teddy from the Rainbow Bring, and it’s always a winner. Also check out the Comments section for links to other poems.

Thankful Thursday

Not only do we write a poem each Thursday, but Kitties Blue and I also join the blog hop hosted by Brian and let you know for what we are thankful.

This week, we are grateful for the great participation in our Sunday Selfies blog hop.

Mom and Dad and Sawyer are thankful the seizure Sawyer had Tuesday night was only a focal one.

Mom was delighted to earn a “Right Guesser” badge on the Tuesday Teaser.

Each and every day, we are thankful for all our friends, followers and supporters.

To join the hop, click on Brian’s badge.

Birthday Wishes

A very special lady is celebrating her birthday today. She is the mom of The Canadian Cats, Shoko, Tyebe and Budd. Everyone here at The Cat on My Head wishes Mom Jean a terrific birthday. Mau made her a cake. If you have the opportunity, please stop by the kitties and her blog and leave Jean some birthday wishes.
