Prayers

MAU’S “BLUE” PERIOD

Caturday Art

Mauricio is here today for Caturday Art to ask for some purrs and POTP. That’s right…it’s his turn, which is why this Kitty Blue is blue. He now has the eye infection, which is working its way through the furmily. We’ve put some ointment in his eye, and he has a vet appointment at 8 a.m. Dad Tom and I are praying he’ll be the last to contract this. (Calista Jo has a few more days of medication and ointment.)

This photo was taken on Monday at the same time as Lisbeth’s “nip” photo from yesterday’s post.

Caturday Art with Mau

To create the art, I used the Painnt app again. The effect I used is Composition – X. I set the color filter at “original” and increased the saturation. Next, I added the blue scrolled border with piZap and the square border with Picasa.

Caturday ArtIf you check out the original photo, you will see that Mau has nip on his head and is standing on a package of Temptations. Are you wondering what possibly could be the reason for this largesse? It was Chris, of course. She was here to clean. She always brings nip and treats for the gang. Mauricio is looking up at her and wondering why the treat package is still closed.

Several additional photos were taken, which I will share in future posts.

We are entering Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To see additional art and/or submit some of your own, click on her badge.

Sunday Selfies

Another week has slipped away making it time for you to get your selfie taken for tomorrow’s blog hop.

The whippersnapper will be here tomorrow as your host for week #180 of the hop. It’s his punishment for escaping outside through the front door last night. We tempted him to come with treats and his favorite wand toy, and Dad Tom scooped him up. When you see his selfie tomorrow, you’ll find he showed no remorse. What a little stinker!

Looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces tomorrow!

SAWYER’S SLEEPY CATURDAY ART

Caturday Art

Sawyer is featured today in our Caturday Art, as he had a bit of a rough day yesterday. He had his boy bits removed, received his final vaccine and was microchipped. He was purrfect to and from the vet—sat quietly in his PTU and just watched what was happening outside the car window. And he was a good boy for Dr. Neel.

The photo I used for our art is from Christmas. After a long day of fun and frolicking, Sawyer needed a long nap.

Caturday Art with Sawyer

To create this art, I started by adding the HDR effect using Picasa. My next step was to add the Color Z filter using piZap. From there I went to Painnt and added the Ceramic Tiles effect. I then returned to piZap for the patterned border and then back to Picasa for the blue and white border. I am actually quite pleased with the outcome, especially as Sawyer’s toesies were not totally obscured by all my piling on.

Here’s the original photo. The arty version is our submission in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To enter some art of your own and/or view the creations of your fellow bloggers, please click on her badge.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is Cooper Murphy’s Gotcha Day, so he will be your host for our blog hop. Cooper is a bit under the weather and also had to visit Dr. Neel yesterday. His temperature was 105+ degrees. It may be difficult to convince him to snap a selfie, but we cannot miss his one-year anniversary of joining Kitties Blue. He wouldn’t mind if you’d like to send him some purrs, prayers and POTP. I’ll fill you in tomorrow on what’s going on with him.

Thank You

I appreciate all your kind comments about the poem, “One of a Kind,” which I wrote for Lily Olivia. I will add it to the sidebar along with the memorial photo I made for her as soon as I get the opportunity.

Kitties Blue and I also need to apologize for our lack of visiting your blogs. It probably will not get much better until we have Cooper Murphy healthy! I truly am sorry.

REMEMBERING ANGEL ZOE & SUNDAY SELFIES

Remembering Zoe

Before we get to our Sunday Selfies blog hop, we are honoring the beautiful, new angel panfur, Zoe from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. Zoe went to the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly on September 14, leaving her humans, Kevin (meowmeowmans) and Tacey, and sisfur Gracie heartbroken. You may not know Zoe. She, Gracie and Angel Moosey usually appeared on their blog on holidays only. They participated in Sunday Selfies very seldom. Dad Kevin uses their blog mostly to promote kitties available for adoption from PAWS Connecticut. He is a faithful supporter of our blog hop.

To read all about beautiful Zoe, visit Animal Shelter Volunteer Life’s September 15 post. If you have not left you condolences, please leave some comforting words for Kevin, Tracey and Gracie.

Sunday Selfies: Week #163

We have a very rare appearance today from Misty May. She actually showed up this afternoon and volunteered to take a selfie. And she was one and done. We must admit it came out great.

Misty May is remembering Zoe.

This is our Sunday Selfies blog hop, and we look forward to your participation. If you have been taking a break from submitting a selfie, we hope you’ll consider rejoining the fun. All anipals are welcome, so please invite your friends to join us. Here are some tips for joining. If you are regular participants, you can skip over this.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • You do not need to post on Sundays to join.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

REMEMBERING A SPECIAL CAT DAD

Sunday Selfies: Week #162

Kitties Blue will not have a selfie today. Instead we will be remembering someone special with a “twofer” photo. Our selfies blog hop today is dedicated to Mau’s wife Allie and Raz’s dad, Bill, from Friends Furever. He was an extra special cat dad. Most of you know by now that he passed away on Thursday. Many of you and have already left condolences for Sharon, Raz and Allie. Regardless, our love for Allie, Raz and Sharon is so strong and our sadness at their loss so deep, we feel it is important to honor Dad Bill here.

Remembering Cat Dad Bill.

Bill and Sharon have many friends, all of whom were praying Bill’s lungs would heal and he could return home. Unfortunately that was not to be. He is now with the angels and his special girl, Ellie, as well as all the other family kitties and woofies who passed before him. Even so, he always will be in Sharon, Allie and Raz’s hearts as well as those of so many others, including Kitties Blue and Mom Janet and Dad Tom.

We continue to send Sharon and the kitties all our love, support and prayers. Though they will take a break from blogging, please keep them in your hearts and prayers.

Hopping

We look forward to seeing your selfies this week. As always we invite you to ask all your anipal friends to join in the fun. Here are some tips for joining. If you join us every week, you can skip over this.

Birthday Celebration

Today is Misty May and Mauricio’s birthday. We are, however, postponing the celebration until tomorrow. Please drop by then for a small party and to wish them a happy birthday. They are turning 14.

Until tomorrow…

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

FUN WITH FRIENDLY FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #71

It’s Friday again, and I am participating in Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie’s (McGuffy’s Reader) Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. My completions are in my usual teal italics. To join the hop click on the Fill-Ins badge to go to Annie’s blog and enter the link to your fill-ins post.

  1. I have broken a few bones: left tibia and fibula, collar bone and the transverse process of a lumbar vertebrae.
  2. When I go out to breakfast, I order bacon. What I decide to have with it depends on my mood and what is on the menu.
  3. Friendly Fill-Ins Week #71.As Summer officially comes to an end, I will be going to California to attend my 50th high school reunion. Yes, I am older than dirt!
  4. Before this year is over, I really need to lose several pounds. Wish I could have lost them before the reunion.

 A Sad Good-bye: Remembering & Honoring a Friend

It is with great sadness that we said good-bye to Allie and Raz’s dad today. We send our love, prayers and sympathy to them and their mom, Sharon. As we have done with our anipal friends who have passed, we will honor Dad Bill and dedicate our Sunday Selfies blog hop to him. Please join us then and visit Friends Furever to leave your condolences.

ANGEL FIONA’S VSQUILLION SELFIE

Sunday Selfies: Week #161

Our selfie this week is a bit unusual. Actually, it is not a selfie. In fact, it is not even a photograph.

Gracie, Keeper of the Offishul CB VSquillions Shelter opened the shelter for adoptions in honor of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. It’s been “closed” for a very long time, and we’d been waiting to make an adoption since last December. Bet you know now where this is headed.

Meet vSquillion Angel Fiona. Mom added the frame for today’s post.

Angel Fiona's vSquillion Selfie

When Mom picked up angel vSquillion Fiona to bring her home, she cried. We all miss our sweet sisfur so much.

We now have an angel vSquillion for all Kitties Blue who are no longer with us, except Mom and Dad’s very first kitty, Skooter. (We’re not sure why he is missing.) If you’d like to meet our other angels, click on The Felines tab in our menu and then the vSquillions tab below it.

If you are new to blogging and unfamiliar with vSquillions, click on the link to the shelter, which is up above.

We are looking forward to seeing your selfies this week. As always we invite you to ask all your animal friends to join in the fun. Here are some tips for joining.

Prayers

We contine to pray for all those already impacted by Hurricane Irma as well as those now in its path. We also send prayers, purrs and POTP to Allie and Raz’s (Friends Furever) dad, Bill. Please take a moment to join us.

ART FOR ALLIE

Caturday Art

I made this art especially for my beautiful wife Allie (Friends Furever). I am so worried about her, Mom Sharon and Raz (Dad Bill is in a hospital built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane), as Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida. They will be evacuating tomorrow but only moving a few miles from their home. I wish I could be with Allie to hold her paw and comfort her during this very scary time. As I cannot be, I made her this art.

This is our submission in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. If you’d like to try your paw at some art and enter the hop, click on Athena’s badge. Even if you don’t create any art, visit Athena’s blog to find links to that of others. It might get your creative juices flowing.

Not only am I praying for the safety of Allie and her family but also for all those in the path of Irma. Ann from Zoolatry made this graphic for all of us to use. Please follow its message.

Sunday Selfies

This is your reminder that tomorrow will be our weekly blog hop. Kitties Blue will be presenting a bit of an unusual selfie tomorrow. We certainly hope you come by and check it out, even if you don’t join our hop.

Until tomorrow…ciao and meow, Mau

YADA, YADA, MEOW!

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 70

It’s Friday again, so we are joining our friends, Annie, McGuffy’s Reader, and Ellen, 15 And Meowing, for their Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. Each week, they construct four partial sentences for participants to complete. This week Lily Olivia and Mauricio volunteered to help me out by completing sentences #1 and #2.

1. LILY OLIVA: September bucket list: 1) nap, 2) snooze, 3) nap!

Lily Olivia is doing her favorite thing for fill-ins blog hop.

2. MAU: If I came with a warning label, it would say, “talks too much.” In my defense, my mom’s label would say exactly the same thing!

Mauricio admits to being a motor mouth for fill-ins.

3. MOM JANET: Truth be told, I was never truly passionate about anything until I started blogging about Kitties Blue.

4. MOM JANET: I would rather eat potato chips than something healthy. They are the single food I absolutely cannot resist. Utz Ripples Original chips are my favorite.

To join in the fun, visit Annie’s blog by clicking the badge below. There you can find links to other blogs participating in the Fill-Ins. If you haven’t participated in the Fill-Ins hop, give it a try. It’s a great way to learn more about your fellow bloggers.

OUR MOM THE SLACKER

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

As we do every Thursday, we are joining Angel Sammy and Teddy from Two Spoiled Cats for their day of poetry. This week’s prompt letter is “M.” The four words suggested as topics are: 1) Marvelous, 2) Mom, 3) Mud and 4) Meow. It was a difficult choice, but we decided on mom. We must warn you, however, that our poem may not be what you’d expect.

Our Mom the Slacker

We wish the word nice described our mom,
But we can tell you that would be buncombe.
She could be if she’d give us more treats
Or something nommy off her plate to eat.

She doesn’t bring us visiting nearly enough.
She claims her time is filled with other stuff.
But we know that’s only a lame excuse,
So she can get away with this dastardly kitty abuse.

Nothing is more important than doing our bidding.
If she thinks otherwise, she is only kidding
Herself but definitely never these Kitties Blue.
We know when our mom is not telling true.

Anything that isn’t all about us,
Is just a lot of bother and fuss.
A mom should give 100 percent for her cats.
That’s just how it is; it’s a matter of fact.

What we want are lots and lots of scritches
And oodles of lap time without her bitches.
Of snuggles and cuddles we deserve lots more
And extra toys so we don’t become bored.

We think it might be time to go on strike,
Unless she begins doing exactly what we like—
Filling our bowls to the top with fresh fishes
And letting us lick all the human dishes.

We also want to stay on the catio 24/7,
As that would be our idea of total heaven.
But we suspect nothing will change,
And for a new mom we’ll need to arrange.

© Kitties Blue 09/06/2017

We hope everyone knows that we are just joking. Both our mom and dad are terrific, and we are all spoiled. But what cat couldn’t use more love and treats and toys!

Thankful Thursday

Today, Kitties Blue are giving thanks for our terrific humans who care for and love us.

Prayers Please

We are not thankful, however, for is this new hurricane heading directly for Florida. Mom and Dad have personal friends in Florida, and we have lots of blogging friends there. We are especially worried for Mom Sharon and Allie and Raz (Friends Furever). Dad Bill remains in the hospital where he is safe; though, he still needs your healing prayers.

Please pray for everyone in Florida that they remain unharmed. It is our fervent wish that Irma weakens before reaching Florida and veers away out into the Atlantic far enough not to impact anyone living on the east coast.

DO YOU MAKE YOUR BED?

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #68

As we do each Friday, we are participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Kitties Blue have allowed me to complete all the fill-ins. My completions are in teal italics.

To join the hop, click on the badge below to go to Annie’s blog where you can add the link to your post. Both Annie and Ellen publish the Fill-Ins on Thursday, so if you haven’t joined in this fun hop, check out their posts next week so you can complete the Friendly Fill-Ins. It’s a fun way to learn a bit more about your fellow bloggers.

1.  Making the bed is a waste of time, But Dad Tom likes it made. He does it each day, usually having to work around Lily Olivia and Calista Jo.

Lily naps through Friendly-Fill-ins.

With 18 years of practice, Lily Olivia is the consummate napper.

2.  My favorite app is PhotoFaceFun.

3.  My first car was a lemon yellow 1966 Plymouth Valiant with black interior and bucket seats. I was 22 years old when I got it in 1971.

4.  The best car I ever owned was is my current car (a 2011 red Ford Fusion), because it has heated seats and a vanity plate that reads, PRRFCT!

Mau would like to add that he has owned three “cars.” His favorite is his Cat Scouts Hooligan Paddy Wagon. If you’ve never seen it, visit our post, “Cat Scouts: Start Your Engines.”

Friendly Fill-Ins

Prior to leaving for 2015 BlogPaws Conference

As this is a short post today, Kitties Blue and I would like to take the opportunity to ask for your continued prayers, purrs and POTP for the Friends Furever kitties, Allie (Mau’s wife) and Raz’s, Dad Bill. He remains hospitalized and on a ventilator. Thank you.
