GIULIETTA HAS HER EYE ON YOU

Sunday Selfies: Week #291

I don’t appear here very often. The reason is due to the fact that I usually spend most of my time on the second floor. Recently I have decided to spend more time with the rest of the family. Mom helped me take this photo on Saturday afternoon when I was Dad’s and her bed. And guess what? I am there now as Mom types this for me.

Seeing me today isn’t the only rarity. I also had Mom leave the freckle in my right eye. I usually have her remove it, but as it has gotten larger, it has become slightly heart-shaped. I think that is pretty cool so decided to show it off.

Now it is your turn to share your selfie with us and all your friends. All anipals are welcome regardless of species, and you don’t even need to post on Sunday to hop with us.

If you can display our badge on your post, that would be terrific.

Thanks for hopping with us. Your support and participation always puts smiles on all our faces.

Purrs and paw-pats, Giuietta

I’VE BEEN DEFLOOFED!

Wordless Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday - defloofed

Wordless Wednesday at Create With Joy

We, and especially Mom, are heartbroken after learning last night that Purrince Siddhartha was helped to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. Mom Sherri-Ellen is computerless right now so will post when she is up and running again. Kitties Blue will honor and remember this precious panfur on the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

FOURTH ANNIVERSARY SUNDAY SELFIES BLOG HOP

Sunday Selfies: Week #210

Welcome to the fourth anniversary edition of our Sunday Selfies blog hop. Did those four years fly by as quickly for you as they did for us? Our very first Sunday Selfies hop was on Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthday on August 17, 2014. Lisbeth had the honor of hosting that first hop. We had a total of seven participants, including ourselves. The most participants we’ve ever had is 67. To see that very first hop post, click here.

I agreed to accept the honor of hosting this anniversary hop with one stipulation: I did not have to show that most of my body has been defloofed. I would not let Mom or Dad work at removing some snarls I had, so I lost all my furs, except those on my legs, tail and head. Mom says I feel and look like velvet. If I get brave enough, I may show you my “nekked” look in a future post. But for today, this is all you get. I am sorry it isn’t all that great of a photo.

Giulietta's Anniversary Selfie

On behalf of Mom and all the Kitties Blue, I’d like to thank everyone who has hopped with us during the past four years, especially those who have returned week after week. We appreciate your support and friendship. We all hope you will continue to hop with us as we enter year five.

Blog Hop

Now it’s time for you to share your selfies with us and the other participants. Here are those tips for hopping Mom makes us post every week.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

To everyone who joins us today, thank you from me and the entire Kitties Blue crew.

Purrs and paw-pats, Giulietta

GIULIETTA’S GIGANTIC, FLOOFY FEET

Another Toesy Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Toesy Tuesday

Even when it is hot as Hades, Giulietta stuffs herself into the cubby at the bottom of the cat perch/condo on the stair landing. As you can see, she doesn’t quite fit. Often her tail and one or more feet escape the confines. At one time, she shared this small space with her sisfur Fiona.

As you can see, she managed to give me the stink-eye for disturbing her, even with only one eye opened just a fraction. Very talented cat!

ASTRID’S MAGICAL PLACE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today’s inspiration photo, selected by Teddy and angel Sammy’s Mom, Pam, is beautiful and contains so many things to spark one’s imagination. I originally had planned to write a Haiku, as the photo said more than a bunch of words ever could. But then, Astrid got her paws on the computer. Once she started typing, she just couldn’t stop. Her poem became more of a short story, and she has her paws crossed that you enjoy it.

Here’s the photo.

A Magical Place

Are my eyes deceiving me?
This wasn’t here a moment ago.
I think I must be dreaming.
That’s it! This has to be a dream.
But I don’t feel as if I’m asleep.
But how could I be on earth,
Yet see it so clearly in the distance?
Is someone playing a trick on me?
Do they want me to think I’m delusional?
No…this must be real.
My paw pads are burning from this hot sand.
And I am really, really thirsty.
In fact, I feel as if I might faint.
That wouldn’t happen if I were sleeping.
I wonder if those other cats are real?
Maybe they can help me figure this out.
“Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.”
Why didn’t that work? That’s how Mom
Calls kitties she doesn’t know.
“Hey you, cat, can you hear me?”
Why are they ignoring me?
Maybe I’m really here but invisible.
Is that even possible?
Was I sucked into some kind of black hole?
Let’s see, what’s the last thing I remember.
Breakfast…check. Watching squirrels…check.
Napping in the sun on the catio…check.
I’ve got it…sunstroke…I fried my brain!
Yikes…how can I fix that?
Do Mom and Dad know?
I wonder if they can straighten this out?
Hey, what was that?
Who’s smacking me on the head?

Astrid speaking out loud: “Cooper Murphy is that you?
You look fuzzy and your stripes are all wavy.
Are you really here, or am I imagining you?
What happened to me? Am I alive?
Why aren’t you answering me?”
Oh cwap…am I dead? I never thought of that.
Did Misty May finally whack me?”

Cooper Murphy speaking out loud: “You’re not dead, but you are a doofus.
You burrowed so far into Mom’s neck
That you passed out cold from lack of oxygen.
Maybe you should come up for air sometimes.”

Wowzers, that sure scared me. That place
Was nice, but I wouldn’t want to live there.
I didn’t smell any stinky goodness or treaties,
And those other cats were not friendly;
Though, they didn’t try to beat me up.
It was beautiful, and interesting, however,
And I wouldn’t mind visiting again,
If I could take my sweet husband, Sampy,
An umbrella for shade and a picnic basket
Filled with shrimpies, nip wine and Temptations.
Then that magical place would be purrfect!

Thankful Thursday

Kitties Blue always have oodles of things for which they are thankful. Astrid received some super cool gifts this week from husband Sampy (Kitty Cat Chronicles) for their anniversary. She’ll share those in another post.

This week the gang is most thankful for boxes. Of course, they are always thankful for boxes, but we’ve had a bonanza of them lately. Dad Tom and I are getting ready to begin a home addition and lots of goodies have been arriving, like tile and light fixtures.  And everyone is enjoying trying them out, either inside or out.

Thankful Thursday is a blog hop hosted by everyone’s pal, Brian. To join in, post for what you are thankful, and then click on his badge and enter your post link on his blog.

GIULIETTA DELIVERS OUR SPARK

Sparks: Week #25

When I was creating art for the Caturday Art blog hop, I produced this design. I did like the final product but decided not to use it. However, it seemed appropriate to use as the basis for today’s Sparks blog hop.

Giulietta delivers week #25 of Sparks.

This is not a traditional Spark. It doesn’t offer an inspirational or uplifting quote. Regardless, it spoke to me. As most of you reading this have animals in your lives that you dearly love, I thought it would resonate with you as well.

The author of this quote, Ingrid Newark, is an English-born British-American animal rights activist. She is the founder (with Alex Pacheco) and president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA is the world’s largest animal rights organization. Newkirk has worked in the animal-protection movement since 1972. In the 1970s, under her leadership, as the District of Columbia’s first female poundmaster, legislation was passed to create the first spay/neuter clinic in Washington, D.C., as well as an adoption program and the public funding of veterinary services. (Information from Wikipedia.)

I am joining Annie at McGufffy’s Reader for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, she wrote, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

GIULIETTA’S SPRINGTIME ART

Caturday Art

Last Sunday Giulietta celebrated her birthday and hosted Sunday Selfies. In an attempt to get a great selfie, she snapped 23 photos of herself. So as not to let 21 additional photos (she posted two last week) go to waste, Giulietta has returned for Caturday Art. And since spring itself has been anything but “springy,” the art is.

I created two versions of the art and am posting both as neither Giulietta nor I could decide which we like best. The photo is the same in both versions but with different frames.

Springtime Art #1 with Giulietta

Springtime Art #2 with Giulietta

I used PhotoFaceFun exclusively to create today’s art. I’m unable to give an exclamation of what I did as the app does not have names on their filters.

Let Giulietta know in the comments which of these is your favorite.

We are entering Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. If you’d like to create some art, the internet abounds with free photo-editing apps. To share your arty creations and join the blog hop, click on Athena’s badge.

In addition to the art, Giulietta asked to share the beautiful birthday card she received from Pipo, Dalton and Petcretary Ingrid (Meezer’s Mews & Terrieristical Woofs).

Sunday Selfie Reminder

Another week has flown by. We celebrated the first day of spring with four and one-half inches of snow. Most has melted, but another storm is heading our way today with a mix of rain, sleet and snow predicted. We could get as much as another five inches or more of snow. This makes all of us, both humans and Kitties Blue, very unhappy. Whoever shows up as your host tomorrow could have a major case of stink-eye or helicopter ears. We hope that won’t scare anyone away from joining us. And remember, you do not need to post on Sunday to join the hop.

Looking forward to seeing you.

BIRTHDAY SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #188

Today Giulietta and our special angel, Fiona, celebrate their eighth birthday. Fiona left us almost 16 months ago, but as long as sis Giulietta is alive, we will celebrate Fiona as well. Giulietta snapped 23 selfies and was pretty miffed at me that I made her take that many, but she’s not great at looking at the cell phone. I’ll share the final photo later in this post. It’s a doozy. But first here is the gorgeous birthday girl.

Giulietta's Birthday Selfie

Of course, Fiona was unable to send a new selfie from the RB, but she too needs a birthday “card,” so I made her one from a photo taken before she got sick.

Angel Fiona's Birthday Selfie

Our resident baker, Cat Scout Mau, made a cake for the girls. We hope you’ll join us for a piece of cake and some champagne.

Remembering a Friend

Before hopping Kitties Blue and I want to honor and remember a super sweet woofie, who now has her wings. Maggie was an adorable and energetic Rack Russell Terrier who lived with my dear friend, Mary Jane, her husband, Kevin, and their daughters, Emily and Amelia. In her photo she is posing with a Christmas ornament I gave her a few years ago.

Time to Hop

Now it’s time for you to share your selfie with all of us. If you are new to hopping or just need a refresher course to enter our hop, here are some pointers.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.

A FELINE SPARK

Sparks: Week #21

sparks #21

Being a blog dedicated to kitties, it seemed appropriate to finally do a Spark post featuring a quote about cats. The photo above features Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Misty May, Mauricio and Giulietta during one of Chris’s biweekly nip fests.

I was unfamiliar with the author of this quote, so I suspect most of you will be as well. The following information is from Wikipedia:

“Henry Charles Bukowski (born Heinrich Karl Bukowski; August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was a German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over 60 books. The FBI kept a file on him as a result of his column, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, in the LA underground newspaper Open City.”

I am joining Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, she wrote this, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.
