Friendly Fill-Ins

LISBETH & COOPER MURPHY HELP WTH FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 89

Each Friday we join Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) for their fun Friendly Fill-Ins. It gives us the opportunity to share things about ourselves and discover new things about our fellow bloggers. Today I asked a couple of the Kitties Blue to help me complete the unfinished sentences. Our completions are in teal italics.

  1. Lisbeth: I have never been able to resist a pile of nip (and a nip nanner for good measure).

Friendly Fill-Ins

2. Cooper Murphy: I wish I could still fit in the pink cat cube like Sawyer does.

Friendly Fill-Ins

3. Mom Janet: Curled under a warm blanket surrounded by Kitties Blue is my ideal winter night.

4. Mom Janet: Cooper Murphy and Sawyer are two peas in a pod. (One’s just a smidge larger than the other and has a tail.)

If you’d like to take part in the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop, you can find the sentences for completion on Ellen and Annie’s blog on Thursdays. The hop takes place at McGuffy’s Reader. To join in, click on the Fill-Ins badge.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS FEATURING LILY OLIVIA

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #88

1. I would like to ask God why our pets cannot live as long as we do? Lily Olivia is officially home in the special urn we selected for her. As she was my sidekick and helped me each day on the computer, I probably will make certain I keep her by me each day.

Friendly Fill-Ins

2. My favorite fast food restaurant is Five Guys.

3. If I could go to any concert of someone still performing, it would be Pink. If I wasn’t going to the BlogPaws Conference, I would be able to see her as she’ll be close to our area while we are in Kansas City. (I’d also like to see Eric Clapton.)

4. My Winter pastime is usually staying in the house, because I have serious circulatory problems. This winter has been particularly brutal with frigid temperatures. It’s a good thing I have lots of kitties to keep me busy.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop started and hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). If you’d like to participate, you can find the sentences to be completed on their blogs each Thursday. On Fridays, you can post a link to your blog at McGuffy’s Reader. To go there now, click on the badge below.

We’ll be back here tomorrow for Caturday Art.

FRIENDLY FILL-INS FEATURING SAWYER

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 86

1. On New Year’s Eve, I try to stay awake until midnight to see the ball drop in Time’s Square on television. Dad Tom usually is already sleeping.

2. One goal I have for 2018 is to comment each week on the posts of all the Sunday Selfies hoppers.

3. In 2017, I accomplished finding the majority of my classmates for our 50th high school reunion.

4. I started riding a Peloton in 2017.

I have no photos to accompany this post, as I am pretty certain you are not interested in photos from my reunion. So, I am including another photo from Christmas. Sawyer and Cooper Murphy were the only two of the kitties who had any interest in Christmas.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #86

Friendly Fill-Ins are hosted each week by Ellen (15 Ad Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader), who also select the sentences for completion. This is a blog hop which you can join by clicking on their badge. It will take you to McGuffy’s Reader, where you can enter the link to your post.

CHRISTMAS CARD ART AND FILL-INS

Caturday Art

For those of you who did not receive one or more of our holiday cards via snail mail, we are sharing them here for today’s art submission. I do have a few more cards ready to mail, but please feel free to grab a card now.

The first card is the one from Kitties Blue. Astrid is the featured cat. This was actually created from Caturday Art that we posted last year.

Friendly Fill-Ins

As promised yesterday, we are doing our fill-ins today. Yesterday we reviewed a new product from PetSafe®. If you missed it, the link for that post is at the bottom of this one.

1. I can’t wait to see my friend of more than 30 years, Mary Jane, open my gift to her. Unfortunately I won’t, as she will open her gifts Christmas morning with her family. She is getting several gifts from me, and I know she is going to love all of them. Each was selected with love and care.

2. I have had the same house for 33-plus years.

3. I would not mind if Santa were to bring me a sunny day with the temperature in the 60s. I am going to get that wish for the next couple of days. Christmas Day, however, is predicted to be only 38 degrees.

4. On Christmas Eve, I always would celebrate my grandpa’s birthday with the rest of the family, until I moved away in 1972. The kitties’ dad and I really have no specific Christmas Eve tradition. Sometimes we will go out to dinner at a favorite restaurant. We haven’t planned that for this year.

Ellen at 15 And Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader create and host Friday Fill-Ins. It is a blog hop. To join in, click on the badge below.

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and we suspect most of you will be busy, but we are hoping you’ll still join us for Sunday Selfies. Our selfie will be Christmas-themed. Not only that, but it will be a doozy as well…one you don’t want to miss seeing. So, paste a smile on your face and hop on over tomorrow.

CHRISTMAS MEMORIES

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #82

We are back again with more holiday-themed fill-ins. Kitties Blue asked me to complete all four this week. As I always do, I’ve used teal italics for my completions.

1. Snow is beautiful when it is falling, but I want it all to melt before it turns grimy and ugly.

2. I enjoy decorating everything with white lights at Christmas. They glow makes me happy.

3. One holiday memory that I cherish is the year my grandparents gave me a pogo stick for Christmas. My grandpa got on and “pogoed” himself right into the juniper bushes.

4. I always thought that Santa gifts were the best. That’s where all the fun stuff could be found…crayons, silly putty, pick-up sticks, jacks and slinkies!

Neither Dad Tom nor I have taken any photos as yet of this year’s decorations. And we didn’t decorate last year, as my heart was not in it after Fiona’s passing. Because of that, I am sharing some past Christmas photos that you may or may not have seen. They are from 1950, 1966, 2012 and 2015.

Christmas Memories

KITTIES BLUE HELP WITH FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #83

Today we kitties are completing the first two fill-ins, as Mom says she can’t even remember last week. Our completions are in navy blue and Mom’s are in teal.

1. The best part of last week was helping with Christmas decorating. We hope you don’t mind that we are sharing a decorating photo from a few years ago that includes Fiona along with Lisbeth and Giulietta.

Fill-Ins

2. The worst part of last week was Sawyer becoming an official member of the Kitties Blue crew. Dad took this photo last night. Sawyer has grown a lot in the past 10 days. He looks very serious but a tad less grumpy than in early photos.

Fill-Ins

We are allowing Mom to complete the final two fill-ins as she is the one who has projects and does the holiday gift shopping.

3.  Integrating Sawyer into the family is a Winter project that I will be working on. I think Sawyer has met all the kitties at this point, but the only interaction he’s really had is with Cooper Murphy. I also will be spending the next month trying to keep Cooper Murphy from removing ornaments and climbing the Christmas Tree.

4. A holiday gift that I always buy for someone is Philosophy 3-in-1 shower gel in one of my favorite, yummy fragrances, such as Fresh Cream and Cinnamon Buns.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop hosted by our friends Ellen (15 and Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). You can find the sentences they have created for completion on their blogs each Thursday. To join the hop, click on the badge below. You will be taken to Annie’s blog.

Mom will be back in charge tomorrow with some art for Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop.

SAWYER, FIONA AND FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #82

1. I can’t believe Silly Putty is still sold, as it is so low-tech. It was always on my Christmas list as a kid. SillyPutty is a trademarked name of Crayola. Similar brands are marketed under other names. According to Wikipedia, Silly Putty was invented in 1943 and since 1950, more than 300 million eggs of Silly Putty (approximately 4,500 short tons or 4,100 tonnes) have been sold.

2. I have been on Craigslist only once when I was looking to see if anyone had listed (not Charlie) Cooper Murphy as “lost.”

3. Going into December, the weather outside is mild, just the way I like it. Growing up in California, the temperatures were usually in the 60s during the day at Christmastime. Some people get all mopey when it isn’t cold and snowing on Christmas. I get happy if it isn’t.

4. My current weakness is just about everything. My all-time weakness would be the (handmade on-site since 1850) dark chocolate truffles from a shop in Lausanne, Switzerland, named Blondel.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15AndMeowing)  and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). You can find the sentences to complete each Thursday on their blogs. The hop appears on Annie’s blog. You can enter it by clicking on her badge. My completions are in teal italics.

More From Sawyer

Now for the expected and required kitten photos. Be prepared to SQUEEE!

Fill-Ins

fill-ins

Sawyer is in the pouch of my KittyRoo sweatshirt. The first photo was taken before he got his eye meds and amoxicillin. The second was taken after. He’s all tuckered out from the ordeal. Sawyer’s eyes are looking great, and he is sneezing and sniffling less. Dad Tom and I will be happy when he is no longer quarantined. He really doesn’t like being alone, and we cannot be with him 24/7.

fill-insAnniversary

Though I wrote a poem for Fiona yesterday, reflecting upon her getting her angel wings last year, today is the actual one-year anniversary of that event. She lay cuddled on my chest that entire day and so many times I wanted to call Dr. Neel and ask her to come and help her. I could tell she was suffering. I was both relieved and heartbroken when she took her last breath. Fiona fought hard for 49 weeks. She was brave and strong and fearless and will remain an inspiration always. I thank God she was a part of our family for those six-and-a-half years.

I’d like to thank all those who visited and commented on yesterday’s poem. Your kind words warmed by heart. If you missed yesterday’s post, you can find the link below.

CHRISTMAS FILL-INS ON BLACK FRIDAY

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #81

1. I start to decorate for Christmas/Hanukkah whenever I can get to it. It takes me about two weeks, so I hope to begin this coming Monday.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #81

Kitties Blue love to help with the decorating.

2. I prefer a faux Christmas tree because I like to leave it up until at least Epiphany; though, the rule is it must be down by Groundhog Day. We went to a faux tree after we discovered second cat Steamer was allergic and to keep my arms from breaking out in a rash whenever I decorated and undecorated the tree. One of the other reasons for a faux tree is that I drove Tom crazy every year trying too find the perfect tree!

3. The best thing about the holidays is sitting quietly in the living room and relaxing with just the tree and garlands lit.

4. The worst thing about the holidays is Black Friday. As I say every year, “Just say, ‘No!'”

This is a blog hop hosted each week by friends, Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). You can find the sentences t compete on their blogs on Thursday and enter the hop on Annie’s big on Friday. To join in the fun, click on the badge below.

THANKSGIVING-THEMED FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #80

1. I can’t wait to eat pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. I will be making it using my grandma’s recipe, so I know it will be just how I like it.

2. My favorite kind of pie is apricot. I’ve never made one. The best place for apricot pie is The Hickory Pit in California. I went twice when we were there in September and got a piece each time.

3. This year, I am particularly thankful for having the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with family. It will be the first time doing so since Tom and I were married.

Friendly Fill-Ins

Bud and Tom Blue – 2002

4. A funny holiday tradition in my/our house is not really funny but a “joke,” as well as a tradition, among Tom’s family. If any of the kids or grandkids wanted to remain in Tom’s dad’s will, they had to make and eat cranberry relish on Thanksgiving. We still make it every year as do two of Tom’s nephews; though, Tom’s dad passed away 10 years ago. We will be spending Thanksgiving with those nephews and their families. The tradition has moved on to the next generation, and the great grandkids will be collaborating on making the relish!

I am joining Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie’s Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop. My completions are in orange italics this week. To join the hop, click on the badge, which will take you to Annie’s blog, McGuffy’s Reader.

As this is a cat blog, Kitties Blue said it is a requirement that I post a feline photo, especially as I did not do so yesterday. They are quite insulted that yesterday’s post included a squirrel and a cardinal only.

In keeping with the theme of today’s fill-ins, our favorite turkey cat is making an encore appearance.

PASTICHE OF FILL-INS

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #79

Today we are joining the Friendly Fill-Ins blog hop, as we do each Friday. The hop is hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). They each select two sentences for us to complete on Fridays and post them on their blogs on Thursdays. My completions are in teal italics.

The hop is conducted on Annie’s blog. You can go there and link up by clicking on the badge.

1. The best part of where I live is the home I share with Kitties Blue and Dad Tom.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #79

Friendly Fill-Ins: #79

2. The worst part of where I live is that it is a several-hour drive to the ocean, and then it is the Atlantic. I grew up less than an hour from the Pacific. In college I lived just a few blocks from it.

Friendly Fill-Ins #79

This is a photo that Dad Tom took on our recent trip to California. It is the Pacific Ocean at Big Sur with Highway 1 and the Bixby Bridge. If you are a follower of the Tuesday Teaser at Two Spoiled Cats, you will have seen this photo.

3. If I had the money and location, I would open a sanctuary for black cats in memory of our two panfurs, angels Thelma and Twinkle. Of course, no homeless cat would be turned away regardless of color or breed.

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 79

4. My favourite article of cold weather clothing is a hoodie, preferably one with a cat on the front.
