All Kitties Blue

BFFS: COOPER MURPHY & TEDDY

Friendly Fill-ins: Week #101

1. Living with eight cats keeps me happy and a little crazy.

2. Careful proofreading is the secret to a good blog post.

3. A friend is someone who never judges you and loves you unconditionally.

4. Right now, I am thankful that all Kitties Blue are healthy. Calista Jo still was dealing with eye “icks” during the roundup last week. With additional days of terramycin, they now look better.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing). You can find the sentences to complete each Thursday on both of their blogs. After posting your completions, enter the hop at Annie’s blog. Click on the Fill-Ins badge at left to go there from here.

ANNUAL ROUNDUP 2018

Thankful Thursday

Whew…it’s over! What you ask? The annual roundup. Dr. Neel from Vinton Veterinary Hospital and Tameka (our favorite vet tech) were here yesterday to give us our annual exams and vaccines. Yippee! Pffft!

2018 roundup

Astrid and Lisbeth were the winners. They didn’t need any vaccines. Cooper was the loser. He needed three. Cooper was up in everybody’s business until it was his turn. The top photo shows Dr. Neel and Mom trying to hold down 18 pounds of writhing ginger cat while Tameka attempts to trim his back claws. That was before he had to have his vaccines.

Giulietta was the last to get her exam. Though we’d all been confined to the kitchen, bathroom and vestibule, Dad couldn’t find her. As you can see in the lower middle photo above, she had managed to open the coat cupboard and hide inside.

We all got clean bills of health; though, Calista Jo has the eye “icks” and needs to keep getting terramycin. We suspected that. Best news of all, all our teefies look terrific.

Though Sawyer wasn’t part of the roundup, he was in the kitchen with us, as Mom wanted to get his claws trimmed. He was a total terror and exactly one claw was trimmed before the humans gave up. Way to go, little buddy!

We are not thankful that we had to endure this torture, but we are hugely grateful that it is over for another year. So, we are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join in click on the badge below.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

We’d like to apologize to Angel Sammy, Teddy and Mom Pam for not writing a poem today. We and Mom are all exhausted after today’s ordeal and our poetry juices just aren’t flowing. We promise we’ll have one next week.

Purrs and paw-pats, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

p.s. We are sorry for not posting more photos, but our gyrations caused most of them to be blurry.

LISBETH APOLOGIZES & FILL-INS

A Note from Lisbeth

Before getting to the Friendly Fill-Ins for this week, Lisbeth has a few words to say.

fill-ins

If Mom and Dad can’t forgive me, I am shipping myself to Charles.

I am sorry I scared my mom and dad and boyfriend Charles so badly by going missing on Wednesday for 11 hours. Delivery men who brought and set up Mom and Dad’s new bed frightened me. I didn’t know I was doing something bad. Staying safe from strangers was my priority. Mom says that I am grounded for life, but I am promising to never do anything like this ever again. I hope she and Dad will forgive me and continue to allow me to attend Cat Scout events with Charles.

I also want too apologize to all our friends and readers for scaring them as well. Mom and Dad and I appreciate all the prayers for my safe return home. Mom says that the pet blogging community is like a huge, loving family, and we appreciate having each of you in our lives.

With sincere apologies, Lisbeth

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #94

The kitties are helping me with the fill-ins this week by completing numbers 1 and 2. We all have used teal italics for our completions.

Kitties Blue: 1. My Our favorite president is President Abraham Lincoln because he was the first president known to have cats in the White House. Mary Todd Lincoln claimed that cats were her husband’s hobby.

Mau & Cooper Murphy: 2. This weekend, I we have plans to go to Egypt with Cat Scouts. This will be great. Cats were revered in ancient Egypt just as they should be today!

3. I 💗 my Kitties Blue past and present. If you have never met all the previous Kitties Blue, click on The Felines tab at the top of the page.

4. I believe in silver linings. Thankfully Lisbeth is now inside where she belongs. Even this blessing came with a silver lining. Lisbeth could have gotten in the delivery truck that was here on Wednesday and ended up 30 miles away at the truck’s next stop. I had horrible visions of her being lost so far away.

ARRGH…A PIRATE POEM BY KITTIES BLUE

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Another Thursday and another poem. This week Teddy and Angel Sammy provided this exquisite picture of a sailing ship. We had to think long and hard before we came up with a poem. We didn’t want to trivialize the majesty of this, but in the end that is exactly what happened.

Poem "Arrgh"

ARRGH

Each year on one special day
We think its fun to dress-up and play
At being pirates and scalawags.
We fly our skull & cross bone flags
When we board our magical ship.
Then from blog to blog we skip,
Saying, “arrgh” and swilling grog,
Hoping not to get lost in an ocean fog.
We take on silly pirate names
And search for booty that we can claim.
But the other 364 days of the year
From big bodies of water we try to stay clear.
It might be fun to see a great big whale,
But Kitties Blue don’t want to go for a sail.
Though this sailing ship looks mighty fine,
We’ll stay warm and dry on the coastline.

Thankful Thursday

We’d like to say we are thankful for the end of the eye “icks” but… Cooper Murphy finished his oral meds yesterday.  Unfortunately his eyes remain very squinty. We will continue the eye ointment for a few more days. Calista Jo is now on her second go round. We put ointment in her eyes last night and will see if we can get oral meds for her today without another trip to see Dr. Neel.

As for being thankful, we are. Astrid, Lisbeth and Giulietta remain uninfected.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. To join the hop and let your fellow bloggers know for what you are thankful this week, click on the badge below.

MINI RANT ON TUXIE TUESDAY

Tuxie Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

Since Sawyer came to live with us and Lily Olivia got her wings, the dynamic around our house is totally different. We are all a bit confused as to our roles. Misty May is trying to assert herself and take over Lily Olivia’s position as Commander of Everything and Everyone. Unlike Lily, however, she is needy, as opposed to demanding. The humans consider needy to be an annoying trait, and the remainder of us must agree. This isn’t to say that most of us don’t love Misty May. We just don’t think she is leadership material. After all, she is a bully. We understand many powerful people are bullies, but that will not be tolerated in our coterie of cats.

Misty May has been doing her best to curry favor with some of us to gain our support, especially the other tuxie female in the house, Lisbeth.

Tuxie Tuesday

As you can see, she has taken Lisbeth under her wing paw, even when they are sleeping. We suggest that Lisbeth not get too cozy. We know this camaraderie will not last if Misty May takes over as Top Cat.

Misty May and Mau are the oldest of this rag-tag bunch, so one of them probably is next in line for the job. We suspect mild-mannered Mau will garner most of the votes. He is a good candidate, as he has learned many important rules with regard to leadership as an Order of the Arrowhead, Sabertooth Cat Scout.

Misty May is not suited to ascend to the throne (Mom’s lap) as she refuses to sit quietly in contemplation—a most important trait for all of those in power. Mau can get awfully wordy at times, but he does recognize the importance of a regal bearing while on the throne. MOUSES! Did we really say that?

The new hierarchy definitely has not been decided, and we suspect we can look forward—NOT—to a long campaign season. In the meantime most of us are keeping a low profile, except for Sawyer. He can’t help himself. He’s just a kitten and only understands three things—eat, sleep and play.

We’ll keep you posted as to how this all shakes out.

Speaking of Lily Olivia

We want to share with you the Angel vSquillion Lily Olivia we adopted. She joins the ranks of all the other Kitties Blue angels (except cat #1, Skooter) on our vSquillion page. If you’d like to visit, click on the The Felines tab at the top of the page and then the vSquillion dropdown.

Thanks for joining us today. We’ll see you tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday.

KITTIES BLUE SAVE CHRISTMAS

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today we begin a new challenge for Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. After three rounds of using prompts from the alphabet, we now are challenged to write a poem inspired by a photo posted by Sammy and Teddy’s mom, Pam.

This is the photo Mom Pam posted last Thursday. It is followed by our poem.

Kitties Blue Save Christmas

The Day Kitties Blue Saved Christmas

As the nine of us hunkered down to wait for Santa,
the sky grew cloudy; we watched a huge storm brewing.
It was massive with turbulent mammatus clouds, and we
worried that Santa’s RPS* would not be working.
When a bolt of lightening caused our lights to flicker
all we could do was cross our paws, purr and pray
that Santa and his reindeer would come through okay.
We were certain he had faced similar conditions
in the four centuries he’d been delivering presents,
but still we feared for the reindeers’ and Santa’s safety.
We paced the floor, wondering how we could help when
the youngest of us, Sawyer, cleared his throat and meowed, “I
bet, if we turn on our lasers, we could guide him through.”
We were amazed the whippersnapper knew just what to do.
It’s his first Christmas, and we didn’t know he was a
smartypants. First we contacted all our fursibs at the
Rainbow Bridge: Skooter, Steamer, Daphne, Thelma, Louise,
Twinkle, Chloe, Madison, MacKenzie and Fiona
and had them gather. Together, they set their halos
to high and shone the light toward earth. Then we all grabbed
our antlers, turned on our high beams and directed our eyes
toward heaven. The dazzling glow caught Santa’s attention,
and he knew just where to fly, directing his reindeer
through the dense clouds and down to earth from the sky.
As he put gifts in our stockings, we asked our friends to do
the same, and that’s how Santa delivered gifts to all in 2017.

A few of us agreed to to have our photos taken in our antlers: Giulietta, Cooper Murphy and the elusive Misty May.

THANKSGIVING WISHES FROM KITTIES BLUE

Thoroughly Poetic Thanksgiving Thursday

Today’s prompt letter should be “X,” an exceptionally hard letter to poetize about. Being the good pal that he is, angel Sammy gave us all permission to chose our own subject. He didn’t even post any suggestion words. We are quite thankful for this!

As you might expect, we decided to write a poem of Thanksgiving for our Mom and Dad. Though it lists some of our many transgressions, our humans understand we are cats and mostly do as we please.

Thankful for the Bestest Mom and Dad

Sometimes Kitties Blue are not well behaved.
We act as if we’re totally depraved.
We whine and caterwaul for our dinner…
Can’t help it if we don’t want to get thinner.
We ask to go in and out dozens of times a day;
It is one of our favorite games to play.
We camp on the stairs so no others can pass.
Yeah, sometimes each of us can be a gigantic ass.
We like to wrestle and bite each other on the necks.
I guess you could say we are the worst smart alecks.
Growling, hissing and spitting can be fun,
When we can make the other kitty squeal and run.
All of these pastimes drive the humans to distraction,
As they try to stop us from committing each infraction.
We pay them back by sleeping east/west in their bed
Or, like Misty May, upon their faces or heads.
You’d think we’re not fit to live in a house…
That we should be outside to catch a mouse
And have it for our breakfast, lunch and dinner,
As punishment for our being incessant sinners.
But our humans love us. We know this to be true.
It doesn’t matter what we meyowl or do.
So today we thank them for giving us a home
From which we have no desire to roam.
And good noms, snuggles, scritches and kisses.
We are kitties whose lives are filled with riches.
Happy Thanksgiving to our Mom and Dad.
Now fetch us some turkey or we’ll be very bad!

ME-YOWL-O-WEEN WITH KITTIES BLUE

We’ll be partying with angel Sammy and Teddy today at Two Spoiled Cats. Mau and Teddy will be enjoying Halloween at Cat Scouts as well. And Lily Olivia will be hanging out with her gal pals at Crotchety Cougars.

Even though we’ll be out and about, Mom has promised to keep the snack table well stocked all day for anyone who pops in to visit. And Mau baked an endless supply of candy cakes.

Enjoy, but try not to hork on the carpet. We’ll do that when we get home!
