Sunday Selfies: Week #151
As we mentioned yesterday, we have a guest host for today’s blog hop. Though we live in the city, our neighborhood has lots of wildlife. Some are welcome and others are not. Our guest today is one of those unwelcome ones. These critters usually only come out at night. We normally don’t see them, but we sure do smell them.
Have you guessed yet who our host is?
You can just call him, Stinky. He was one of three skunks our humans discovered hoovering up sunflower seeds from under the bird feeder a couple evenings ago. They all scattered in different directions when Mom knocked on the kitchen window. Stinky the Brave returned, and Dad Tom was able to get his photo. We know this isn’t a “selfie,” but Dad wasn’t getting close enough to let this guy snap his own photo.
According to our mom, the group appeared to be a mother skunk and two skunk kids. This is one of the kids. They are striped skunks, and each had a different white pattern on its back.
The gang was back yesterday evening, and it had doubled in size. That’s right—six skunks, and some were smaller than those in the first group. Dad Tom turned the hose on them, but once again one brave stinker returned. Watch for photos later in the week.
Now that you’ve seen our host, it is time for you to add your selfie to the hop. The link is below as is the code to add the hop to your blog if you’d like. Would you please add our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head on your blog. You wouldn’t want our mom to send this stinker to your house, would you? Just kidding, of course!
If you don’t post on Sundays, you are still welcome to join the hop. It remains open through Thursday. And please feel free to invite your anipal friends to join us.
We know many of your humans will be traveling this weekend as well as having parties and barbecues (purrhaps with fireworks) to celebrate Independence Day. Friends, please stay safe and in the house during any of these festivities. Find a quiet place to relax and chill or ask your humans to turn on a radio or TV to drown out the loud boomers.
We’ll be back on Tuesday to wish everyone a happy 4th.
Don’t get close or you’ll have to take a tomato juice bath!!
Have a safe and happy fourth of July!

Aw, cute kitty, kitty, kitty! 🙀
That’s an unexpected selfie participant. We get skunks through our yard occasionally, but thankfully nothing so regular that they’d stop for a photo op.
Skunks are so pretty. Too bad they can be stinky too. Love the stripey nose!
These stinky fellas are really audacious little critters aren’t they?! We don’t see them during the day but only smell them at night. That’s a beautiful shot of Mr. Stinky though, wow! I never knew they eat sunflower seeds.
He’s a cute little stinky guy! We have them on out neighborhood too…Mama never let’s us go out and visit with them tho!

An ionizer will get the stink out of the fur when the need arise – just sayin.
OMC!!! That is not the kind of ‘kitty’ anyone needs, MOL! But…well he/she is kind of cute! Hope you don’t have too many issues from Stinky or his furmily and relations…
They’re cute but if they keep doubling I’d call ACC otherwise one of them might shunk your house or one of your cats on the catio.
I hope that gang of stinky skunks doesn’t double in size every day! Your dad was very brave to get close enough for a photo.

Now that is a visitor! Wowie one thing we’ve never seen around our home is skunks! Your Dad is a wise man. Let the skunks be from a distance! MOL
Stinky is very pretty, but stay far away…..
Thanks for the Blog Hop
Have a great day,
hugs, Bugsy, Knuckles and HH
We have never seen any skunks in our yard, let alone six at one time. Yikes! We sure hope they kept their dinner party stink-free. Either way, that sure is a stupendous selfie of Stinky!
Six skunks-yikes! He is cute, if only they lacked the smell. XO
When we were looking for our current apartment, when prospective landlords heard we had a cat we might as well said we had a skunk! Reggie definitely thinks he’s a wild beastie sometimes.
Stinky sure has some fancy furs and a big family too!
Yikes! You guys will want to stay clear of Stinky…unless you want to know how he got his name. 😉
Stinky is pretty interesting but we would stay FAR away from him!!!
The Florida Furkids with tons of smoochies and loads of love to Mau from Allie
Hope they don’t get stinky on you!
Oh my, now that is a surprise! I can almost smell that little critter from here. 🙂
Thank goodness we don’t have these guys around the UK! Still at least this isn’t a Smellfie! otherwise none of us would be here. MOL

We have purrsonally never seen a skunk and we never hope to see one, but thank Dad Tom for being brave enough to go take his picture. We enjoyed seeing Stinky from a very SAFE distance.
What a surprising visitor for Sunday Selfies! We get a lot of squirrels and chipmunks at our bird feeder but no skunks. Happy Sunday,
xxoo

We used to ‘smell out’ our striped visitors who came every spring. Thanks for keeping us in the know of these funny striped visitors.
Happy 4th of July Friends
Timmy, Dad and Family
EEEK! Skunks! Mom has told me to never get near one although I have to say they are very interesting. Now that our trees have grown so big we can no longer see our bird feeders from inside the house BUT once in a while when we are outside at dusk we see one there. My inSTINKS say “stay away” !!!!! Happy Sunday!
Hugs, Teddy
We’ve never seen a skunk here in London. We get squirrels, foxes, mice and rats in our back garden.
Purrs xx

They may be stinky but they sure are cute!
Happy 4th to you and the cats! 🙂
I think Stinky is very talented…as far as it concerns the Selfie…and cute. We don’t have them around in our Country, but some people have them as pets, can you believe that, KittiesBlue? We now have a law that it is forbidden to keep them as pets. Pawkisses for a smelly free Sunday to all of you 🙂 <3
He looks cute but I’ll just keep my distance if you don’t mind,xx Speedy
Don’t tell your pal, but my human thinks skunks are stupid! She was running an errand to CVS this evening, and one walked right out in front of her car! It’s a good thing she wasn’t speeding and she was keeping an eye out – she totally could have squished him, and made the whole neighborhood and her car stink on top of it. But she stopped, and made sure he got to the other side safely.
Hey! We got those around here too! They and the raccoons fight over the bird seed!
Love Barb
Mr. Stinky can stay up there with you!
Oh my CAT Skunks!! They look so amazing but….are they vermin in the US Miss Janet?
Oh my. A stinky black and white kitty cat (skunk). Hope he didn’t get too stinky.

Great selfie of “Stinky”. You’re Dad is pretty brave to get close enough to hose them! MOL!
Hope you all have a quiet 4th of July.
XOXO
Good grief…what are you guys doing there to attract so many skunks? Just cut it out or you’re going to stink too. Mau I don’t want you coming to the July the 4th party reeking of your visitors. MOL
Shoko
Dad Tom is BRAVE to go and take Stinky’s picture. Maybe even braver than Stinky the Brave! Just saying. 🙂
Thanks so much for being such awesome pals, and for hosting. We love you lots!
