Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
After yesterday’s post, we didn’t think our mom could get any crazier, but we were wrong. It is evident now that she has more than one screw loose, and that they are rattling around in her head. We have no idea what to make of this ODD poem or the graphic she made to accompany it. But before we let you judge for yourselves, a bit of explanation is required.
This week’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, hosted by Angel Sammy and Teddy (Two Spoiled Cats), has “O” as its prompt letter. The prompt words selected for this week are 1) Open, 2) Octopus, 3) Olive and 4) Odd. As you can see, they really having nothing in common with each other. Nonetheless, Ms. Crazypants decided she’d include them all in one poem. For better or worse, here it is.
Cat Foods
Madison was crazy for green olive juice.
We know that is definitely odd.
But Cooper goes nutty for watermelon,
So to his strange taste, we also give a nod.
Thelma wanted water from steamed broccoli,
Yet another kitty with a crazy food festish.
Daphne stripped the flesh from artichoke leaves—
An additional unusual food for a cat to relish.
None of us have ever eaten octopus.
How could we with “puss” in its name?
But open a can of tuna; add some mayo,
And any leftovers are fair game.
Lily Olivia begs for and eats almost anything.
She never misses a meal and isn’t picky.
But some of us aren’t open to just any noms.
In fact, Giulietta is darn persnickety.
Calista will leave her food to pilfer from others,
But for some odd reason, she doesn’t like treats.
Like humans, every cat has its own food obsessions,
So you can never predict what they’ll like to eat.

So Mom was going to try to attribute this poem to us, but we said, “no way.” We told her that she wrote it, so she had to claim it. But if you thought the poem was ODD, check out this graphic. It is totally bizarre.
If you don’t recognize the two kitties, they are angels, Thelma and Madison. You can find out more about them on The Felines page.

Thankful Thursday
We are participating in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop as well. We feel a tad bit guilty being grateful for anything while so many others are suffering the ravages of hurricanes and an earthquake. All this devastation makes us very sad.
But we are grateful to have so many finds in the blogosphere, and want to thank three in particular: Pipo, Mr.Jack Freckles and Mom Ingrid from Meezer’s Mews & Freckles’ Woofs.
They sent Mauricio and Misty May this precious card for their birthday. Check out those cute mice!

Until we meet again, purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
What a fun original poem! Its great!, Not weird:)
Our Angel Groucho loved popcorn and potato chips…
Angel Minko did not like treats, and Pipo only likes one kind…at least they are healthy ones. The other angels did like treats but no strange noms…
OHHHH!
Olives, artichokes and watermelon…seriously, my FAVORITE FOODS! Other than pickles and popcorn, I could live on these happily forever!
We think your Mom is perfect just the way she is! I had no idea Mau and Misty May are 14! Happy Birthday to you two!
Well, we loved the poem and your mom is not odd…she’d fit right in around here. We see the world a little
differently than some.
Hugs,
Shoko and Kali
We love the graphic and your Mom’s poem. Yin is the weirdest cat of all she LOVES Scylla’s diet food.
A lot of having hummers visit depends on where you live, we actually only see about 4 hummers around here. There may be more as they are fast and are always zipping around. One has claimed this as his territory and tries to run the others off. He also complains to the Mom when she doesn’t keep the feeders full.
Kitties Blue, though you might think your mom is a bit odd, we think she’s brilliant! This poem is super fun, and we love the art to go with it, octopus and all. Angels Thelma and Madison are too cute!
You know, we’re a little odd here, too. Evan is the most “normal” and will eat cat treats, as well as his beloved butter. Neither Thimble nor Eddy will eat cat treats, and Eddy won’t even eat moist food. Thimble’s favorite goodie is baby food, and she also likes to steal tastes of straight up baking flour. That’s sort of weird. The only thing Eddy will eat besides her beloved dry cat food is fish and frog food. And then there’s housemate Toby, who likes olives, strawberries, and spinach.
Well, your mom is certainly creative! And thanks for sharing the photo of your angel kitties.
It may have been a little odd, but that’s what makes it so awesome. You and your mom rock, Kitties Blue!
Thank you for your kind comments and purrs about our sweet angel Zoe’s passing. We are so grateful for you. We were moved to tears when you asked if you could honor Zoe in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop post this Sunday. Thank you so much for asking, and we would be honored. Love and hugs to you, dear friends.
Your mom is very creative and clever- great poem. None of my cats have odd food fetishes. Thank you for the prayers for Phoebe, they are greatly appreciated and needed. XO
We think he poem was tasty good and we are always thankful for good friends. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
And we thought our old bro William’s love of V8 was weird! He never had a cool graphic like that though!
Your mom did a great job! We don’t think our mom could write a good poem with all of those words.
guyz…yur O poem iz total lee awesum N de graffix iz two !!! 🙂 ♥♥
MOL! Now those are some weird things to eat…but still a great poem. And your artwork fits it so well. 🙂
Well kitties I think this is a BRILLIANT poem and I think you SHOULD take credit for it – if you read Angel Sammy’s poem today you’ll understand because his is pretty darn wacky too. I love it – thanks for cramming all the words into one poem – he did that too……..so did Phenny. It’s a good challenge! Thanks for playing along with us on Thursday……….we love you!
Hugs, Teddy
I actually thought it was a pretty cool poem!
