Caturday Art
Squirrel Appreciation Day is observed annually on January 21. The creator, Christy Hargrove, is a wildlife rehabilitator in North Carolina and is affiliated with the Western North Carolina Nature Center.
Without squirrels, our lives would be dull and boring. They amuse us throughout the day by climbing the outside of the catio screens, sprinting across the sill of the kitchen window and scaling the pergola. Bird T.V. is entertaining, but squirrel T.V. is enthralling. Squirrels are wacky and masters at teasing us. They wiggle their tails around in a come hither manner. If we could get to them, we’d whap them silly.
Our dad continues to take photos of them as Mom thinks they are cute. Cats are cute. Squirrels are crazy! MOUSES!
Anyhoo, as it is Squirrel Appreciation Day and we have oodles of photos of these bird-seed-thieving critters, we agreed to allow Mom to use one of those photos for her Caturday Art project.
Mom used Dreamscope to add the Lux filter to the original photo. Using piZap, she added a parchment overlay and the black leaf border. The mat and frame were applied using Picasa.
She asked us to show you the original photo as it was taken in summer, so looks very different from her fall-like creation.

Sunday Selfies
We are flabbergasted that yet another week as flown by, and it is time to take selfies again. We have no idea who is hosting tomorrow. None of us have been approached as yet by the petretary. We know one thing for certain…we will not tolerate another squirrel taking over our blog!
Even if you do not post on Sunday, you can still enter our hop as it remains open for entries through Thursday.
Until tomorrow…

Squirrels oh,so adorable, I wish I could have one!
What a day to have in your honor, MOL!!
We have some black squirrel dudes here, but mostly we have red ones…they are smaller but way bigger in the naughty department…they even eat the feeders if they can’t access the seeds…sheesh. and they chase away lots of other hungry critters…they ate trough part of the neighbors roofing and made a nest in their attic…OMC!! Then we had baby squirrels…they were admittedly cute…but…soon they learned the tricks they are known for! They can even jump to heights and across open spaces. If they do not succeed the furst time they keep on at it until they do…they could teach us a thing or two about perseverance, we suppose, MOL!!
That’s a great photo and photo art!

i love that you honor squirrels with art! I know my cats’ lives would be a lot more boring without those squirrels to stare at!! Frodo always loves when they get real close! I think he wants to befriend them you can see how close here http://hairballsandhissyfits.com/mom-got-a-new-kitten-sorta/)
That’s a cool squirrel pic! As much as they taunt us and make us crazy, we love the squirrels too. 🙂
That is really lovely art!

That was totally pawsome Caturday ARt!
What a lovely squirrel photo by your dad! And we love what Mom Janet did to transform it into such beautiful artwork. 🙂
Big hugs to you all, sweet pals.
This human here happens to love squirrels. That being said, I love this squirrely art! I always love your gorgeous kitty art, of course, but this adorable squirrel looking all dazzling and rustic all at the same time is pretty darn awesome. Please don’t hate me, Kitties Blue, because I know nothing is as purrfect as you!
That’s an awesome piece of artwork. We like to watch the squirrels do acrobatics as they steal the seeds from the birds. 🙂
Fantastic artwork! Love it! 🙂
WOW! That’s one great bit of artwork featuring our favorite clowns the squirrels! I used to just love watching them stealing food from the feeders, gathering big piles of leaves for their nests, chasing each other around the limbs of trees…..they are SO entertaining! Here’s to squirrels – long may they RAVE (haha).
Love, Angel Sammy
