SPARKS OF BELIEF & HOPE

Sparks - Balloons Over Rockbridge, Lexington, VA

Do you believe in angels? Do you believe in a supreme being watching over you? Through the span of my life, I have fluctuated between “believing” and not believing. At my age, I choose to believe, as events in my life have shown me that unseen force exists. And there is comfort in that.

I was unfamiliar with Martha Beck, so I suspect most of you are as well. According to Wikipedia, Beck is a 55-year-old, American sociologist, life coach, best-selling author and speaker. She specializes in helping individuals and groups achieve personal and professional goals. Beck holds a bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in sociology, both from Harvard University.

Today’s balloon photo is another of Dad Tom’s. It was taken recently at the annual Balloons Over Rockbridge in Lexington, Virginia.

Sparks began as a blog hop, created by our friend, Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). Annie currently is taking a well-deserved “break” from blogging, so there is no hop. However, many of us are continuing to post a Spark on Monday, as we totally agree with Annie’s vision: “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!”

We usually don’t post on Tuesdays, but we’ll be back tomorrow with Kitties Blue review of Cat Amazing, Sawyer’s favorite, new, interactive toy.

Growing up, I never realized the gift of belief – but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve appreciated it more every day. Faith isn’t one of those things you really have a choice about – you either have it or you don’t … and I’m so glad that I do.

Beautiful balloons! We have a festival here each July Fourth weekend. They really are amazing things!
There surely are angels round about us..they care for us, and guide us to safety in times of need. Petcretary knows all about them in that way…and they send comfort too when needed…again, ask petcretary.

Great photo and excellent spark. I believe the spirits of our loved ones ( human and pet) are always with us. I think of them as angels. XO

Beautiful Spark. I believe that too.

I sure miss Annie. I’ve commented on her blog a couple of times, but nothing back. I hope she’s doing well.

Have a fabulous day and week, Janet. Scritches to all the kitties. ♥

An author that I like once wrote about how her dead cat’s spirit visited her constantly when she was in a coma from a stroke. The author remembered everything when she recovered, and reading her story made me believe that there is no death, and that our loved ones are always near.

Oh, yes, indeed! There are always angels around and among us — both seen and unseen. I have a strong testimony of God, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I don’t know where I’d be without them and the angels they send that touch my life. We are the instruments in God’s hands on this earth. You are an angel in my book as you have touched my life and so many others (including all your Kitties Blue) for good. 😀 <3

My faith in God absolutely includes angels. Being lights in this world, totally. By the way the hot air balloons look awesome.

Oh we are believers around here – for sure. The reason we are is precisely what your SPARK from Ms. Beck relates……hope that we are not alone. That’s what my Mom says anyway!!!

We most certainly DO believe in angels.
As for SPARKS and Annie’s vision, of us being lights in this world – that reminds Us of a song We sing at Chanucah: “We came to drive away the darkness. In our hands are light and fire. Each one is a little glow and together, a mighty light.”
