Friendly Fill-Ins
Guess you can surmise that I was a PTU Pooper again on this trip. We didn’t even get out of the driveway before I let loose!
My Vet Visit Report
Though I have not had a grand mal seizure since mid-May; I regularly have been having focal seizures (at least a couple each week). If you are unfamiliar with focal seizures, here’s a link to a site where you can read about them. They can take a variety of forms. For me they are almost always nocturnal, and I am usually on Mom and Dad’s bed. It always makes Mom nervous when I sleep on their bed, as I don’t do it every night.
When the seizure begins, I suddenly fly off the bed and start running in circles, going under the bed on one side and coming out on the other. Then I run around the end of the bed and back under, out and around. I will do this four or five times and then fly down the stairs. I end up sitting in the foyer disoriented.
My recent blood work showed that I have a phenobarbital level of 43.5 ug/ml. My reading three months ago was 38.8. A reading of 45 ug/ml is the max tolerable as anything higher will most likely cause liver toxicity. You are probably wondering why my level jumped so much: 1) My weight dropped by six ounces and 2) my dosage increased by 2.4 mg per day due to having to start getting my meds at the pharmacy due to it being a controlled substance. The lowest dosage for humans is 16.2 mg, while for cats it is 15 mg.
Now, you probably want to know what the plan for my care is going forward. I am starting on a different medication called Zonisamide and will be weaned off the phenobarbital over the next several months. If I quit all at once, I could have more and worse seizures.
So…I could still use any purrs, prayers and POTP you have to spare. Though these focal seizures are not as bad as the tonic/clonic ones, Mom, Dad and Dr. Neel are committed to getting them under control.
Thank you to everyone for your care and concern about my well-being.
Purrs and paw-pats, Sawyer

Sawyer, Buddy! The pooping in the PTU – PU! (Mom say Hissy Old Licorice was a PTU Pooper too…he did it from the time he was a kitten until he got ancient…when they traveled — they put a litter box in the car/truck and let him loose. The litter box would have to be cleaned abut 5 minutes after the trip started.
And the seizures…we are purraying for you buddy. I am sure they will be able to get everything going well for you. I bet it scares the heck out of your peeps, so we send them strength along with the purrayers.

We send you tons of purrs and prayers Sawyer, you will be fine, we just know it.
Sawyer, we are very sorry you are still having those seizures. We are purring and praying that Dr. Neel and your parents will figure out a course of treatment so that you don’t have them anymore. Sending you all lots of love and hugs.
Sawyer the news of your seizures is a bummer!! We are familiar with the Tonic-clonic here as mom has epilepsy. She hasn’t had a seizure for many years now. You will be controlled one day, just hang in there.
Shoko
Sawyer, I am so sorry that you’re having such scary health issues. I am praying for your complete healing and restoration. Here’s to no more seizures of any kind!
Have a blessed weekend. 🙂
Oh my, this sounds as bad for you as it is worrying for your staff and family. I hope the change of meds will settle things down asap. Praying even more that they can get to the root cause of the seizures too and stop it so you won’t need meds and trips to the vets.
Get well soon, Sawyer, we are all rooting for you!
Gentle purrs and healing prayers

Sawyer, you’ve been through so much. Luckily, you have two parents who love you to no end and will never give up on you. Love makes the world go ’round and heals all kinds of ugliness.
That is sad that you need to change the meds…but then, maybe the new med will do a better job of getting all those scary events under control.
You have a great vet and your peeps truly love you and want for you to be seizure free, and we do too.
Purrs and POTP,
Pipo, Dalton & Petcretary.
Praying you get the meds you need at the right doses so you become siezure free.
Praying you get the exact doses of the right meds that you need so you stay siezure free!
Sawyer, we’re sorry to hear you’re still having seizures. We know your peeps and your vet will do everything they can to help you. We hope the new medication helps. We’re purring for you buddy!
Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers Sawyer, although I am sorry you had to go to the vet. Millie is proud of you as a fellow PTU pooper though. I am praying for you to be cured of these seizures. XO

Watched an episode of “My Cat From Hell”, with a cat that had seizures, but not the kind that you have, Sawyer. Needless to say, I give your peeps high marks from not freaking out when you do have a seizure! Here’s hoping the new med will help.
Sawyer, we are sending you lots and lots of purrs and prayers! That being said, like you, we have faith that your mom, dad, and Dr. Neel will find a way to stop or decrease your seizures. Sometimes it just takes time, but together, you’ll all get there.
Also, Evan wants to know if you’ve ever been a PTU Pooper the second you’ve gone in the PTU? Evan just loves to poop right off the bat, the second the PTU door closes. Oh, and we’re glad that you put the catio instead of the roof for #3. Purrs!
I hope number 4 comes true.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Sawyer. I hope the new medicine works much better for you.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday. My best to your peeps and all the rest of the kitties. ♥
Purrs and POTP to you Sawyer. The 🐱
Oh Sawyer, I didn’t know you were having seizures. Now I only blog once a week I don’t visit blogs as often as I used to and missed hearing about this.
I am sending lots of good thoughts and hope your new meds make a big improvement.
I hope your wish comes true, Sawyer.
Oh Sawyer, you must be so confused with those seizures. Just know that you have lots of fur people and their humans praying that those stupid seizures go away. You are such a beautiful cat and you have so much love to give. Hang in there and keep looking handsome.
Caring purrs………….Hemingway and Steinbeck
Good Fill-ins. We hope your wish comes true with the new medication plan.
Raz is really proud of your PTU pooper expertise! That hat is pawsome!!!
The Florida Furkids with tons of smoochies and love to Mau from Allie
Sawyer my little buddy I know that you know ALL OF US who know you are hoping maybe the new medication will work to keep you from having seizures. I would guess that you don’t really “know” you’re having anything that’s not normal since you’ve had them for so long but with medication that works you will have totally restful nights snuggling with your Mom and Dad in bed. I think you’ll like that a lot! Have a super duper Friday and tell all your fursibs we wish that for ALL of them!
Love, Teddy
I am sending lots of purrs your way, Sawyer! It sounds like what is going on with you is pretty complicated.
Sending ya lotsa POTP Sawyer.
