Our Caturday Art for this week is simple, and the kitty is recognizable. It’s Calista Jo posterized using Picasa.
The photo I started with had already been edited in Lightroom by the kitties’ dad. He darkened the background, which created the halo effect around C.J.’s head. This actually is one time when I think less is more. Calista’s dilute tortie furs brought enough interest to this without piling on. If you’ve followed us for awhile, you know I normally like to layer on several effects.
This is our entry in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. If you’ve not entered this blog hop, you are missing out on an opportunity to try new things and show your creative side. I cannot draw or paint, so I find this chance to manipulate photographs fun and rewarding. And you don’t need any expensive apps. An abundance of free photo-editing apps are available on-line. If you’d like a list of the ones I use, just let me know in a comment, and I will e-mail it to you.
If you do decide to enter, or if you just want to see the submissions and visit some of the participants’ blogs, click on Athena’s badge.
We all know what tomorrow is…Sunday Selfies, but it is also
- National Bat Appreciation Day
- National Cheeseball Day
- National Ellis Island Family History Day
- National Haiku Poetry Day
I’m thinking I may try to write a haiku about a bat. I can guarantee, however, that we won’t have a selfie of a bat (or a cheeseball). Though I have seen more bats than I ever wished, I’ve never given one my phone so it could snap it’s photo. Quess you’ll just need to return tomorrow to find out which kitty will be hosting. We are grateful to everyone who has ever joined our blog hop and look forward to seeing your selfies again tomorrow.
Until then…may the cats be with you!
Calista Joe looks amazing.

Cool poster!! Calisto Jo looks great!!
I like your “less is more” approach as much as when you do decide to be elaborate! Whatever the photo calls for, right?
That sure made a really neato image of Calista Jo!
It looks like an old style print/poster!
