Should we fire the typist (previously known as Mom) or just put her out to pasture? She missed another birthday yesterday…and it was a double (Fiona and Giulietta). Thanks to some astute readers who wished them Happy Birthday in the Comments yesterday, the typist found out in time to correct the situation.
This was the worst blunder to date, particularly when the typist’s recent actions are taken into consideration. On Monday she went birthday shopping on behalf of Astrid for her boyfriend Sampy. His birthday is the 23rd! We can understand Astrid being more focused on on the love of her life, but the woman previously known as Mom? That is a serious infraction, especially as she recently missed Lily Olivia’s birthday.
When she missed Lily’s special day, she checked all our birthdates so she wouldn’t make that mistake again. Obviously that was useless. In one brain cell and out another without even a brief stop in her memory.
Dad was scheduled to go to Petco in the morning to take photos of Dusty, a new kitty awaiting adoption, so the typist asked him to pick something up for Giulietta and Fiona. She thinks that was a good save. NOT! The last minute, pull-a-rabbit-out-of-your-hat method of trying to make things right is pathetic. Birthdays should be well thought out, planned down to the last detail and celebrated on time! No excuses. We deserve fanfare, banners, balloons and treats…lots and lots of treats!
We will admit we scored a most excellent gift. We’ve been wanting an ess scratcher forever. So many of our furiends have them, and we’ve been feeling quite deprived. Now we have one too. SCORE! And here’s Giulietta (top) and Fiona (bottom) with the new toy.
We don’t want to burst their birthday bubble, but four others of us have already played with it today. There’s even photographic evidence, but we’ll save that for another post. It wouldn’t be fair to hurt their feelings two days running.

Uh oh… is Mom Janet in the proverbial dog house? Okay kitties, we said to take it easy on her when she missed Lily Olivia’s birthday, but we’re not thinking you should be so easy this time. A full scale riot is in order. And billions of treats!!! Well, that ess scratcher is pretty cool… maybe that makes up for mom’s mistake a little bit? Sampy asks Fiona and Giulietta to please not be upset with him for getting his birthday remembered while theirs was forgotten. He is very sorry. He also sends as many kisses to Astrid as there are birthdays today (including the forgotten ones ;). Love from all of us!

Happy Belated Birthday Fiona and Giulietta. Unfortunately when you are part of a large family and your parents are busy these things happen. It has happened in our large family more than once as well but then our mom & dad older than dirt.
