Another Sad Farewell
I will be participating in the Friendly Fill-Ins today, but first the kitties and I are saddened to have lost another dear friend and “family” member. The beautiful Ellie from Friends Furever received her angel wings yesterday morning. Ellie is Mau’s wife Allie’s sisfur. She’s been having health issues for the past couple of weeks. We will be dedicating our Sunday Selfies blog hop to her. If you can, please stop by the Friends Furever blog and leave your condolences for Mom Sharon, Dad Bill and fursibs, Allie and Raz.
Rest in peace, beautiful angel. You will be forever loved and cherished and remain in all of our hearts.
Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #61
As promised, I am completing this week’s fill-ins provided by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and participating in their blog hop as well. To join the hop, click on the badge above to be taken to Annie’s blog.
As always, my completions are in teal italics.
1. My favorite line(s) from a film is are from two different movies. I cannot select one of these above the other. The first selection is actually a bit of dialog from the 1969 movie, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” The two characters (played by Paul Newman and Robert Redford) are standing atop a cliff when this takes place.
Butch Cassidy: Alright. I’ll jump first.
Sundance Kid: No.
Butch Cassidy: Then you jump first.
Sundance Kid: No, I said.
Butch Cassidy: What’s the matter with you?
Sundance Kid: I can’t swim.
Butch Cassidy: Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill you.
Sundance Kid: Oh, shit… (and they jump).
The following line is from the 1977 movie, “The Goodbye Girl,” starring Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfus. The character Elliot is drunk after reading the reviews of his portrayal of Richard III off-off broadway.
Elliot Garfield: I was “an Elizabethan fruit fly.” I was “the Betty Boop of Stratford-on-Avon.” I was “putrid.” Capital P, capital U, capital TRID.
If you have never seen either of these movies, rent them. They are both worth your time. I’ve seen “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” more than two dozen times. Eighteen of those were at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, California, where I worked as a cashier when I was in college.
2. Other than blogs, a website I visit often is piZap. I use this app for all types of photo-editing, including creating Caturday Art and dressing Mau, Cooper Murphy and Allie for Cat Scout events. Here is Cooper Murphy dressed for the Cat Scouts birthday pool party this weekend. He’s practicing the hula, as he plans to give lessens during the party.
3. When I feel down, I mope. I am not someone who takes comfort in food, but if I am really, really, really down in the dumps, dark chocolate, peanut M&Ms might take my mind off of whatever is bothering me.
4. If I could find the money, I would open a shelter for black cats. Of course, all cats would be welcome.
That’s it for today. We’ll see you tomorrow for Caturday Art and the following day for week #152 of SundaySelfies.
Note: The badge for Ellie was created by Ann of Zoolatry.
Rest in peace sweet angel. <3 Sending all of my thoughts and love to her humans.
I have heard that black animals are more likely to be abused than any others. Have a great weekend.
I was devastated to read of Ellie’s passing , that is so sad. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great movie quotes. Cooper Murphy looks adorable hula dancing. I just dressed Sammy in Phoebe’s mermaid costume for a photo for the party- he wishes I were better at photo editing so he wouldn’t have to be tortured. I love your answer to #4. XO
I was very sad to hear of Ellie’s passing. 🙁
I think a shelter for black cats is an excellent idea. Things can be very scary out there for the solid black kitties. People can be so mean.
Have a blessed weekend.
Ellie was indeed a fine feline and a Crotchety Cougar. She wore her red hat with pride. She will be missed.

I’m very fortunate that a pretty black girl chose me – she and Bear still have some kinks to work out – but she’s the most amazing girl. I truly don’t understand people’s reticence at adopting black cats. We’ll miss Ellie too 🙁
We’re very sad about Ellie. Our thoughts and purrs are with her family.
Those are great quotes! Our mommy doesn’t pay close enough attention to remember movie quotes. She would start a shelter too though!
We’re sad about our friend Ellie too. We left a few world for her family. Purrs
words, not world…
We enjoyed those terrific answers! We sure were sad to hear about dear Ellie.
Angel Ellie was a beautiful kitty, may she rest in peace. Have always loved “Butch Cassidy…”, and it’s been years since I saw “The Goodbye Girl”. Mary McNeil’s quote from “WarGames” always cracks me up, except when they cut it out.
Arghhh!!! My comments aren’t showing again. I think it is the “Confirm you are not a spammer” that is doing it even though I always tick it. When you didn’t have it there for a few days, my comments were appearing right away.
I was very sad that another long time friend has gone to the Bridge.
What a lovely kitty gal for an angel.
guyz…..total lee awesum oh mom two use green paperz for catz… !! her could call her shelterz Fiona’s Friends 🙂 ♥♥
and Godspeed Ellie~~~~~~ we are truly truly sorry ~~~~~~
Purrs and prayers to beautiful Ellie’s family. She is now flying free with so many other angels.
What fantastic fill-ins! I have seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but never The Goodbye Girl. I will have to remedy that. And that image of Cooper Murphy just made my day! And I am 100% with you on #4, of course.
I must admit, that quote from Butch and Sundance is one of my favorites too. Along with Rhett’s last line from Gone With the Wind (apparently all of my favorites involve swearing).
But the one I quote most often is from War Games, where Dabney Coleman’s character is arguing with the Air Force officer (Barry Corbin) and calls him “you pig-eyed sack of s**t !) Said in my head to several customers…
So sad about Ellie ! Purrs sent to her family.
We are so very sad and hope you will soon be back on your feet and will get starting around more.
Mom loves your favorite movie quotes……! We certainly were sad about Ellie leaving for the Bridge and know how hard it is for her family right now. She is a beautiful Angel now……watching out for her family forever. Can’t wait to get a hula lesson from Cooper at the party Sunday!
Hugs, Teddy
We are just going over to leave a few words and say how sorry we are to hear about your bad news.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We were over at Ellie’s furmily and left a few words and a memento too. Way too many new angels…sigh…
There should be way more no kill shelters for all the kitties that cannot find homes with peeps…or until they do.
