Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
As we do each Thursday, we are entering Angel Sammy and Teddy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday at Two Spoiled Cats. This week’s prompt letter is “L.” The suggestions for poem topics are 1) Lamb, 2) Love, 3) Lap and 4) Lunch.
I wanted to write about love or our angel Louise, but exhaustion did not allow me to put the time and effort into my poem to do justice to either subject. So, I selected lap as my subject.
Cats and Laps
A person’s lap is the perfect place for a cat.
It doesn’t matter if the cat is skinny or fat.
I wish all Kitties Blue loved to nap in my lap,
But some would rather snuggle with Dad.
Then, of course, when it’s a hot summer day,
I’d prefer they just go their own way.
A cat in my lap is not a dream come true.
When it’s more important to try to stay cool.
But when the winter cold comes along,
I’d be happy to have more than just one.
Curled up in a ball with a rumbling purr,
For the doldrums of winter, they are my cure.
Until the summer heat begins to abate,
For a place in my lap Kitties Blue must wait.
When the cold temps come, I’ll offer my lap
To any Kitties Blue who desire a nap!

Thankful Thursday
We also are joining Brian’s blog hop. Kitties Blue, in keeping with the subject of our poem, are thankful for laps, as evidenced by the above collage. And they don’t care what season it is. At least one of them, usually Lily Olivia, camps out in my lap everyday.

We love the poem…you’re so good at it.

Great poem and Allie LOVES the collage!!!!
The Florida Furkids with tons and tons of love and smoochies to Mau from Allie.
I’m not a lap kitty, but when winter comes it is nice to get an occasional snuggle on a cozy lap.
Excellent poem. Joanie is my only lap cat and she wants to be on it all the time even when it is hot.
Oh, that was as sweet. Yes, even minions love laps…and a lapful of minions is, well…awesome! HUGS! (Email sent!)
I’d give almost anything for a cat in the lap, summer or winter! Angel and Chuck are no-lap cats, unless you grab ’em and hold them in place while they wriggle and dig their claws in. The Hubby holds them like a baby, while I try to hoist them so their front legs are over my shoulder. I can get Patty O’Malley up onto my lap, but he doesn’t want to stay either. :::sigh:::
We know this trick as we aren’t lap cats either. We make mom’s life miserable if she tries to hold us down….We prefer to make the idea our own and we never think of sitting on her lap.

We enjoyed your poem and we do enjoy laps! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Hi this is Emma, when it comes to laps I love them. However, I only sit on mom’s lap if there’s a piece of clothing, preferrably a throw on her lap, but with catpapa, I go sit even though he’s wearing shorts. He always tells me he doesn’t need any more catupuncture from moi!
guyz….we dunno which iz better….de fotoz ore de poem !! 🙂 984 paws UP 🙂 ♥♥
We love this poem. There’s nothing like laying in a nice warm human lap and getting lots of scritches.
Oh, what a purrfect poem, and with such purrfect images to go with it! I wish more of the kitties around here were lap kitties. Eddy sort of is, sometimes. Evan strictly sits right next to me, but not on me. And cuddle time with Thimble is like a tornado passing through, with her twirling and rolling about, but no hope of her ever sitting down. Astrid is sometimes a lap dog, all 70 lbs of her. That all being said, the summer is coming to an end, Kitties Blue, so get ready to keep your mom warm! Purrs!
That’s a great poem! Seems our kitty furriends become most interested in laps when one is trying to read or type! LOL!
What a great poem, I love it!!
Oh what a GREAT lap poem! I don’t have the same feeling about laps as my Angel Sammy guy did much to my Mom’s chagrin. She will pick me up and put me on her lap and I’ll stay for 30 seconds while she pets me BUT then I’m off and running. She’s hoping as I settle down (assuming I ever do!) I will become the lap cat Sammy was……we’ll see about that! Thanks for always pawticipating in poetry day.
Love, Teddy
I love kitties on the lap, even if it’s too hot!
I think laps are overrated – I will share the office chair with my human, but I prefer lying behind her.
Minko always wanted to be in my lap or on my arms when at the desk…Pipo just wants to be close by. Though he might get on pawppy’s lap. I love it when they make bread on me:)
You do have some cuddly lap warmers!
