Those who visited us on Wordless Wednesday were super surprised to see Astrid and Lisbeth totally ignoring a squirrel climbing the screen on the catio. We have four squirrels living in our trees. One or more are here everyday eating from the bird feeders and generally hanging out.
We are not oblivious to the squirrels. They watch us through the kitchen windows, and we chirrup at them. Or we observe their antics through the screen.
We see the squirrels everyday, and have become a bit impervious to their presence. And we are cats: Expending a lot off energy to pursue something we can’t get just isn’t in our natures. That’s not to say that we don’t give them cause to turn tail now and again when we are feeling frisky.
Since we started blogging nearly three years ago, we have done several posts about squirrels and shared lots of photos of them, many including one or more of us. You can enter squirrel in the “Search” box at the bottom of our sidebar to see any of those past posts.
We’ll be sharing more of our furry friends in the future, especially on Squirrel Appreciation Day in January.

That really is one cool catio you all have. We think it is just pawesome that you are able to get so up close and pursuant with those squirrels. If only there wasn’t that screen barrier… the squirrels are lucky! And Astrid, Sampy says that he is thrilled to be seeing you on the blog so often lately! It always makes his heart go pitter-patter. He sends a kiss for every squirrel, and all of his love. We send love and hugs to all of you too!
Wow, that is something else! I would get very excited about this! Love the pics!
We have lots of squirrels here…and we’ve done lots of posts about them. They’ve almost become part of the family. 😉
We have lots of squirrels in the trees around our house, but they never get up to our windows.
We wish we had Squirrel TV Channel like you ! Purrs
That is funny how the squirrel likes to watch them too 🙂
Yup, those screens and panes do thwart a kitties prey drive, MOL!
Fun to watch, though. Those critters are like acrobats and so silly in their efforts to gain access to the feeders.
We should’ve known you kitties knew that squirrel was hanging out watching you! Hee hee!
We’re just like you guys. We have so many squirrels unless they come up close to us on the screen we don’t get too excited. These were some terrific photos!
There is an evil squirrel that goes in my oak tree outside the window. When I chase him up to the top he jumps out over the fence. I will get him one day!
Our squirrels pay us no mind and even come up and grab a snack from the feral feeding station!
What a lovely porch! We see squorrels in the tree next door but we don’t get to see them close up like that.
Squirrels, what mysterious critters they are.
I would LOVE to have a nice screened porch for napping and spying on squirrels and birds………I’ve asked Mom and Dad to build me one MANY times but they say “sorry buddy……no can do”……..what’s with that??? BAD ATTITUDE right? Anyway, have fun enjoying your porch……..that squirrel knows how to tease you!
Hugs, Sammy
I think squirrels deserve our respect for being smart enough to thrive amongst humans, unlike the armadillo. 🙂
Not much point in chasing a squirrel – they are so fast! Cats are very sensible and don’t expend energy unless they want to!
You kitties are lucky – we have squirrels, but they never come quite as close to us as they do to you!
Love your shots of your porch! My felines are so jealous – they don’t get to go outside like I do and would love a porch like yours to sit on.
We wish we had squirrels to chase.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
The skwerrils here drive us nutso!
We celebrate squirrels, too. My love for them is a bit different than Chloe Jo’s love for them, however. ❤
Those things are very nervy, aren’t they?
We know you kittehz would show them a thing or three if that screen wasn’t there!
