Thoroughly Poetic Thursday
Do Cats Have Ankles?
It is time to write an ‘A’ poem again,
But I just don’t know where to begin.
Being once more at the start of the alphabet,
I could write about Astrid, my sweet pet.
Or choices have been given for this mission:
Ants, anger, apples or ankles for this edition.
I considered the topic of ankles very seriously,
Wondering if cats have ankles quite curiously.
It seems they do on their back legs,
As Astrid has agreed to demonstrate.
You can check out her photo down below
With her ankles pointed out by arrows.
Ankles in cats are known as hocks
And found in the hind legs above the fetlocks.
The fetlock is where a human’s ankle would be.
It is all very confusing as you can see.
The one thing I know about ankles for fact…
Cats find human ones fun to attack.

Astrid insisted that as this is another “A” poem, it should be all about her. She was not appeased when I explained that last week’s “zoomies” poem was all about her. As a compromise, we agreed that she could be the model for this week’s poem. If you are a regular reader, as well as an observant one, you will recogonize this photo from last week. It was the same one Astrid used to show off her “zoomies” costume.

Thankful Thursday
We also are participating in Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop.
Today, as everyday, we are thankful for all the amazing friends we have made since we began blogging almost five years ago. As we have said on numerous occasions, we knew absolutely nothing about blogging when we launched The Cat on My Head. Nor did we know about all the amazing people and anipals we would meet. Many have become lasting friends. With that said, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy want to say, “thank you,” to everyone who has ever visited our blog and been kind enough to leave a comment or entered our Sunday Selfies blog hop.
YOU ARE APPRECIATED!
Somefur here once chomped down on petcretary’s ankle…but um…she stepped on a paw…so the score was evened up. MOL!

What a great poem for “A”! I’ve got one or two myself that skip the ankles and go for the feet! 🙀😻
Wow, we had never thought about ankles until today. Loved the poem, but Astrid we do agree the letter A should make it all about you.
Astrid’s ankles are very lovely

How interesting – of course we kitties have ankles! They’re just called something different because they’re better than human ankles.
