Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #82
We are back again with more holiday-themed fill-ins. Kitties Blue asked me to complete all four this week. As I always do, I’ve used teal italics for my completions.
1. Snow is beautiful when it is falling, but I want it all to melt before it turns grimy and ugly.
2. I enjoy decorating everything with white lights at Christmas. They glow makes me happy.
3. One holiday memory that I cherish is the year my grandparents gave me a pogo stick for Christmas. My grandpa got on and “pogoed” himself right into the juniper bushes.
4. I always thought that Santa gifts were the best. That’s where all the fun stuff could be found…crayons, silly putty, pick-up sticks, jacks and slinkies!
Neither Dad Tom nor I have taken any photos as yet of this year’s decorations. And we didn’t decorate last year, as my heart was not in it after Fiona’s passing. Because of that, I am sharing some past Christmas photos that you may or may not have seen. They are from 1950, 1966, 2012 and 2015.
Friendly Fill-Ins is a weekly blog hop hosted by friends, Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). If you’d like to participate, you can find the fill-in sentences on their blogs each Thursday. After you complete your post, you can enter the hop on Annie’s blog. I don’t like snow when it gets all dirty and slushy either, wish it would just melt away quicker. Love white lights but compromise for a few other colours as my beloved likes them. The image of your grandfather pogoing himself into the bushes must be one that makes you smile as it did me – I remember several pogo stick related incidents in our family too.
I had to chuckle at your wording of #1. You tell that snow, my friend! Just white lights? We use the traditional coloured bulbs of our 1950-1960s childhoods. I am originally a Chicago Northsider, while Bill is a Southsider. They are very different in many ways, but generally pretty typical Midwest. Think: “A Christmas Story”. I never had a pogo stick, but I loved similar toys. I agree, Santa knew what kids liked! Hugs and lots of love.
Very nice photos. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I use white lights too, I love how they look. That is a fun memory of the pogo sticks. Have a nice weekend! XO
Our mom says that 1950 one looks like it could have come from her photo collection! (Maybe we’ll let her post hers for Catmas.) We have yet to decorate, but this weekend for sure.
We miss Fiona … it’s so hard to believe it’s already been a year. We’re not huge fans of snow – unless we don’t have to go out in it! I love Christmas lights too. My brother used to keep up a few strands year round for the same reason.
Your past decorations are so pretty. We woulda liked to have seen your grandpa pogo’ing himself into the bushes. MOL!
We like white twinkle lights too…we have a string that go around the cat halo ‘way up near the ceiling in the dining room, and leave them there all year!
We love your Fill-ins. Mom says she feels the same way about snow.
The Florida Furkids with bazillion kisses and tons of love to Mau from Allie.
We all agree, snow is lovely when it’s falling and then it can go away before it ties up traffic, breaks necks and is generally a pain.
Great answers. Pop will only buy the multi colored lights cos he’s a multi-color person. This year they got some with purple lights to please TW.
We enjoyed your fill ins and your holiday photos! We hope you all have a great weekend!
WoW awesome fillins! Yours are great. And Mommy always wanted a pogo stick and never got one, so when my brother Alex was old enough, she bought him one and she went into the ceder hedge!
We also LOVE the photos! It is so nice to see other peoples memories

I love your fill ins and the pictures. I always enjoy seeing our furriends pictures from their special times.
I couldn’t agree more with you in number 1! It’s beautiful on day one. I want it gone the next day! LOL! What fun photos!
Lovely pics!

I agree about Santa gifts. If there was a major present under the tree, it was from Santa.
Love your fill-ins today and they brought back some nice memories of jump ropes, jacks, pick-up-stix and so many other things that I loved to find from Santa on Christmas morning. A simpler time – and not one thing required a battery! LOL Your “Christmas Past” photos are beautiful……love the oldies and the newer ones as your house is always so gorgeous when it’s decorated!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
My human doesn’t decorate every year (because she is lazy!), but she did this year.
